The "Use:" function has a 30 minute cooldown on it limiting it's usefulness. Still, this plus Hypnotic Blade (https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=7714) is a nice combo.

A very solid off-hand item. While the cooldown on the health restoration is too long to make it truly useful, the intellect bonus and shadow damage make this a solid warlock item.

This is another option for a good off-hand item https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=10770 in my opinion the +5 stamina is better for a warlock.

im as a destruction warlock in low lvl just life tap, equp the orb and use the CD. Then i switch back to my SM staff with crit :)

The orb, or any other off-hand (that i've come across), does not fade away after use, but it usually do have a 30 min cooldown or so. Personally I'm sitting on a Orb of Suran'ruk at the moment and that's the way it's working. So I'd guess they're all kinda like.

No, you can use it again and again.

Yes, 30 minute cooldown is correct.

The restoring health isn't very noticable, though. In my oppinion, this isn't a very useful item. :)

As of 1.11, the Orb now has a SEPARATE cooldown from Healthstones.

The above poster is right on. The new patch does allow for using a healthstone and the warlock orbs in the same fight. This just changed my opinion of which item to take when I complete this quest.

This wand, the offhand displayed and this new main hand from SM gy make +shadow damage viable at lower levels. Some tailor-made items and you're extremely pvp-capable at 39 with the right build. On my first lock, I went 2handed with the weapon from SM lib. After 1.11, I've decided this is no longer the case :)
