This dress has an extremely low spawn rate on the NPC. Some people speculate it could be as high as 2 months, making it one of the rarest "common" items around. Because of this, it can sell VERY well on the AH, especially on RP servers.

I was lucky enough to pick this up today. The respawn rate on it is very low. However, if you have an alt that you can just park in front of the NPC and check it before you log on with your main and after you log out, you'll get it about as quickly as possible. The only time there are many people in Moonglade is during the lunar festival, so you are unlikely to have much competition for this.

It is very expensive for what it is, but it is also very unique. You aren't likely to see anyone else with one on.

AFAIK, there are four robes that DO NOT bind on pickup/equip, have NO level requirement, and are item level 35+.

-Simple Black Dress crafted by Tailoring, roughly 2-5G in mats.
-Royal Dangui sold by vendors in UC, SWC, and Moonglade, ~29G.
-Green Wedding Hanbok limited supply sold by Geenia Sunshadow, somewhat rare, ~14G.
-Formal Dangui limited supply sold by Geenia Sunshadow, VERY rare, ~51G.
-Haliscan Jacket Added in patch 2.4.3, Tailor Pattern bought from Hauty Modiste in Tanaris.

This is useful to note because it allows you to apply one of the newer Burning Crusade enchants, such as Exceptional Stats, Exceptional Health, Resilience, Restore Mana Prime, etc., making them real powerful chestpieces.

They become so powerful that really, your best alternatives are to acquire the mats for +4 Stats and apply to superior chests in the 15-19 level range. But one important feature here would be lost... and that is the superiour chests would be soulbound, and therefore not reusable.

TLDR version: You get to make a resellable chest that's real good for leveling lowbies from 1-20+.

Lucky for me I'm a Druid, so every time I hearthed back home, I'd teleport to Moonglade first and check the vendor. After about 2 months of doing that I finally got one. I now have the best-dressed banker alt in Stormwind. :)

I can confirm that the respawn rate is indeed just over 2 months. I started camping the vendor the day patch 2.4 went live, March 25th(I assumed this would reset the timer on the vendor). I was finally able to buy this dress on June 1st.

Its completely possible that this will become the single greatest twink item in the 19 and 29 bracket with WoTLK.

A +6 all stats plus an added socket from the new blacksmithing patterns, would make all current twink items obsolete.

I was fortunate enough to have picked up the flight path to moonglade on my mage alt (because of the lunar festival) and parked him at the vendor to see how long it would take. 2 weeks later I have my Formals dangui as well as 2 Red Traditional Hanboks and 2 Green Wedding hanboks. Since I didnt find out when the one prior to mine was sold I may send my little gnome back to see how long it takes for it to respawn.

New and sad update to all you out there: You cannot put WotLK enchants on this thing.
Seems like the new enchants requiers that the gear has a proficience, cloth, leather, and so on.

There are a few complicating factors.

(1) Extremely low spawn rate would exaggerate any flaws in data gathering.

(2) High item desireability increases the chance that even if you do camp the dress maker, someone else may also be doing so, will see and buy the dress before you do, and you will never register the spawning.

(3) There is a chance that the dress despawns if it is not bought within a cerain window of availability. Depending on how small the window is, the dress may spawn and be gone even without any other players getting in your way.

(4) Spawn rates are not necessarily constant. Nor do they have to be tied to a simple timer. It could be affected by character flow through Moonglade, season (Lunar Festival!), how quickly the previous one was bought, or be a totally random very small likelihood every day. It can be based on anything that can be measured, or maybe no measure at all.

Just thinking in terms of a game designer or computer programmer, there is all sorts of space to have fun making a highly desireable item be a real "find" when it does show up.

Add those factors together and there is really very little value to camping the dressmaker unless you can monitor her 24/7 for months, I'm guessing.

Sorry if someone has already mentioned this but can u enchant this with Super Health (275)? It's tooltip says it only requires a level 60 item.

No, you can't, the item level is 35 or 40, I don't remember, but anyone can wear it, Super health, (+275 health) requires an item w/ an item level of 60.

They changed it so this item isn't on a spawn timer anymore. The dress maker in Moonglade always sells it, along with two other dresses.

I'm not sure the spawn rate is so low... or maybe I'm just very, very lucky. Today I was in Moonglade picking up some 'chanting recipes, thought I'd see if it had spawned... Wasn't there, sent in an alt, checked an hour later... Formal Dangui had spawned. And yes, I've double checked its the Formal Dangui and not one of the other chest pieces- checked the name, compared the picture, paid 50g for it.
Have they changed the spawn rates?

Due to the rarity of this dress, many people who know about it will spend quite a bit of money on it. I sold one on the US server Sisters of Elune (RP) for 3500 gold, and heard that a few months before, someone else sold one for around 4000 gold.

And just for the sake of showing off, I'll usually wear this around town with my Hyacinth Macaw.

It seems that the Orphan Matron Aria, in dalaran, is wearing one of this fancy robes. So, if you want a good look at what you might be camping, by all means, stare at her.

As for the cool-down, last I heard it was 2 months... So unless blizzard changed it...

I don't know what's the problem, at last I got the dangui, just bought it from a druid friend.
I used the https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=39005#comments:id=835191 scroll on it and
nothing is wrong. I am wearing it and it's the best purchase I have done so far for my level 1.
So either I am wearing something impossible (glitch) or you are doing something wrong.
Honestly, I don't care, I am set for good. 453 hp is pretty nice for a level 1,
perhaps I'll get 2 https://www.wowhead.com/wotlk/item=19024 to boost up even more.

Why don't people read the comments before making their own? Just one comment above yours, and in several other comments it clearly states that you cannot use Wrath of the Lich King enchants on this.

Although it has been said that this is the only item in the game that can be enchanted with Wrath of the Lich King enchants it cannot be. The WotLK enchants require an armor type ie. cloth, mail, etc. this item has no such armor type. Burning Crusade enchants do work on this item as its item level is 60 and BC enchants have no such restriction.

Tried to put 250 mana on this chest the other day with my level 1 twink, and it worked! i was quite surprised because sofar no other wrath chants have been working.

5 mins ago bought one of these from the vendor, haven't been so excited over an pixelated item before. :-P Have been checking the vendor on three different druids for about a year and half. Almost always before hs'ing I went to Moonglade first and checked the vendor. Not that I so passionately wanted the item, it just came a habit. Then at the moment I least expect, there it is, only 50g or so for this priceless item, for me at least. :-)

Have anyone tested other enchants than 10 stats, 275 hp (does not work) or 250 mana (which works)?.

There are also enchants like:
200 hp, 8 stats, 20 def rating, 20 resil, 10 mp5. Some of these would really rock and be a huge upgrade for a lvl 1 twink.

I got my first dress about a month ago after checking several times daily for 5-6 weeks. Recently, I decided to try to get another one to give as a gift. After checking only a few times, I found another dress 25 days after my first one. Then I checked the next day out of habit and got a THIRD dress.

I tested out the following enchants:

Works
Greater Defense: +22 def
Exceptional Mana: +250 mana

Does Not Work:
Powerful Stats: +10 stats
Super Stats: +8 stats
Exceptional Resilience: +20 res
Super Health: +275 hp
Mighty Health: +200 hp
Greater Mana Restoration: +10 mp5

You're not wasting your time — it hasn't been removed.

"...I advise you to travel to Moonglade for a holiday, the night elf dress makers are the most famous in Azeroth..."

It's still available from this vendor, but it's obviously not a short or common respawn.

It can also despawn (I have seen the ugly green hanbok despawn without being bought) so there may be only a small window in which you have the opportunity to purchase it.

My advice? All you can do is park an alt with 50g66s52c (don't forget 30c spare, lest you be stranded in Moonglade and unable to post it to a main!) next to Geenia Sunshadow in Moonglade, check her stock occasionally, and pray for a 50-gold dress-shaped miracle.

I finally got it after four weeks' vendor camping!

It's much rarer than a week, but at last I finally logged on the alt I had camping in Moonglade, and it was there, and I bought it.

Welp, been on this pretty lady for a month roughly, I've gotten 2 Red Hanbok's which look dandy! No Formal Dangui yet-- No special reputation or.. tricks or.. anything required about this dress, just gotta get lucky and be there when it gets there! Still in-game, just a hard find! ;) I believe its set on a timer, much like the Red Hanbok's appearance - Someone once told me it was once every few months. I'd slay someone..

As others have posted obtaining this gown takes both persistence and luck. Being a druid (or having a druid friend) also helps! An avid gown collector I knew I had to have this one, so I started 'porting to Moonglade at least once a day to check the vendor. I found two or three of the limited Red and Green Hanboks over a period of a couple months. Early one morning after a tiring Mech run I 'ported to Moonglade and almost didn't bother checking for the dress. Good thing I did. :)

Given my experience it's very possible the spawn time is at least two months. I have never seen this come up on the AH and only seen one other player with the gown. Easily one of the rarest Commons in the game.

I just got this an hour ago. I checked the vendor every morning and night for over a month.

The only reason I have been trying to get one is because it has an item level of 60 supposedly. I wanted to put a Vindicator's armor kit on it but it said the item was invalid. So does it have a lvl 60 value or what?

It would be helpful for those of you who have been lucky (persistent) enough to get this item to post when (server time and day of the week) you purchased it.

Maybe we can begin to track the spawn rate this way...ie server rest, day/evening spawn time, etc...

This item has a very low drop rate - about 0.01. So farming it or better, waiting for it and keep checking the vendor takes looooong time. Those who got it during their second visit of Moonglade are just blessed by Elune herself :P

I had 3 friends with low lvl drood alts park themselves in front of the vendor and help me stalk this thing several times a day for months. We all saw the other two rare ones dozens of times but never this one. I finally gave up.

I stopped playing for a couple months. Then I came back one day and randomly logged onto my dress stalking moo cow and IT WAS THERE.

HaHa... dumb luck > constant stalking

As an amusing side note, you CAN put +150hp (or any lvl 35+ enchant) on this item and give it to a lvl 1 char : )

After several days of having my Druid parked at the dress lady, it was there this morning! I bought it, sent it to my enchanter and lo and behold, it is no longer enchantable. Not only the WOTLK but not even the PRE-BC enchants. It gives an error message "That item is not a valid target."

Was going to put on +10 stats for my level 10 dodge twink. Worthless now, don't bother camping or buying it.
