This along with the Plans: Runic Plate Helm are the hardest to farm from the runic plate set. Took me months of on and off farming and the less than 1% drop is quite accurate. Problem is the mobs are easy to kill per se but they arent a guaranteed spawn since a Sorceress, Siren, Warrior or Myrmidon can spawn in place of the Serpent Guard. Best way to farm these guys is to simply kill everything in the island over and over.

This plan is by far the worst one of the set. I spent 24 hours this weekend farming the island every 15 minutes (it's on about a 12 minute respawn timer). There are 26 random spawn mobs that can be one of 5 different creatures and 3 that are always Myrmadim. This would be approximately 500 spawns of each type of creature. I received 5 Runic plate helm recipes(which I already had) and 0 Plans: Runic Plate Shoulders. I think the 0.9% drop rate shown is actually much lower.

this may well be one of the many patterns whose drop rate was upped in 3.1. i am *chronically* unlucky, the RNG hates me, and it happened to drop on the third or fourth of these i killed. too bad i'm not on my blacksmith at the moment ><

Random dungeon finder makes this crap much easier to put up with.... but not fun by any means. You find yourself going "Man.... do I want to actually DO this occulus or do I want to stand idle on the dock for 15 minutes?"

The docks always win.
