Does this item drop in 1.8 (for Alliance)? I see that it's required to build the Mechanical Yeti in 1.9 (I'm trying to get a head start on the mats), but it appears that it may be a Horde-only drop at the moment.

Apparently in 1.9, this will be a conponent for the Tranquil Yeti (a vanity pet). But the E'ko items are only dropped if the player has a Cache of Mau'ari in their inventory, availible from a Horde quest only.

Will it be changed to an Alliance-also quest in 1.9, or will this only be availible to the Alliance through Gadgetzan? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

The NPC in question seems to be in Everlook now, but when (being Alliance) I highlight them the cursor becomes a sword, I.E. I can't talk to her.

Is this broken, or is there reputation I'm flat-out missing?

Ok so I'm alliance and cant talk to the doc... so I killed her to see if I'd get the item. Nope she dosnt drop anything ;(

I may be going out on a limb here, but maybe... just maybe... the decision to allow only Horde to get these items was intentional. Since the 1.9 patch also included a linked neutral AH update.

Let the price gouging begin! >.<

The NPC that gives the quest is no longer in Orgrimmar, it is now in winterspring, and no, you cannot talk to him as alliance. If you right-click on him, you will attack him.

When the test realm came up, first thing I did was go to Everlook to see what I needed to get to make these and went back to my realm and bought enough mats for 10. EXCEPT these crystals, I had tried to get a few but just figured I had bad luck.

There must be a way for alliance to obtain other then AH, that would be just cruel of Blizz, or I would hope they'd note it as a Horde thing only.

I want a yeti now >_<

Gonna be long night if I don't figure this out soon. >=|

Just for those interested in taking out frustation... u can kill quest giver for the horde, so they cannot make either.. =P =)

Checked every npc in zone. No one is giving alliance a quest to get the E'ko, and farmedfor over an hour. No luck.

I just got done farming the yeti's for 5 F**King hours only to not get one single E'ko- you can not get this Item for alliance- you must buy it from a horde atm - i spent 40g for 4 crystals- and am going to try to sell them for 50g a pop.

I'll fill you in once i sell em, Blizzard needs to fix all these alliance quest- Horde get an epic fishing pole- wheres mine... uhh i dont get one.....

Well wtf, was this their intention or not, or did they forget about alliance not being able to get quest from horde npcs. They had a test realm for a reason...

Ive only seen them in the new linked AH and that was 4 for 40g... way too expnsive for mats if you ask me. If Blizz says theres a way to collect them for alliance theres a way to collect them for alliance. Just gotta figure out how....

A friend of mine bought me the e'ko at an outrageous price i know the alliance any better but the horde should be ashamed for price gougin like they are but anyway i built one today and i play a gnome and the thing is almost as tall as i am it rocks if anyone needs one i'll make them for free if you supply the mats look up keres on the malygos server

Listen to what ppl are saying, even if ur on PvE, you can not bid/buyout auctions u created with a horde/alliance with a character of opposite faction. Now stop argueing and get me some dang Ice Thistle E'ko. >_<

Having talked to a GM just a moment ago (Laneroth of Feathermoon), he confirmed that there is some way that the Alliance can get these crystals, but he couldn't indicate how as that would be giving a game hint.

But there is some way out there

Well, the schematic has been altered has been changed so that it no longer requires the Ice Thistle E'ko "so that both Horde and Alliance Engineers can make the recipe" implying that it was impossible before for alliance to obtain Ice Thistle E'ko.

We love being lied to. While you're at it, nerf rogues some more.

For issues getting these E'ko items...I think you need to refer to the Witch Doctor Mau'ari. He's located at Everlook in Winterspring. It starts with a quest called Luck be with you. Collect 10 Frostmaul Shards from the Frostmaul Giants and the surounding area just past the bridge at Frostwhisper Gorge (just follow the road south from Everlook, they are Elite 60's so be prepared) Go back to Mau'ari and turn them in...then talk to him again. Once the ? appears. You should be able to speak with him and do Cache of Mau'ari. That should give you the charm Cache of Mau'ari. He actually says to keep it on you while fighting in the area. Both quest according to Thottbot can be started at lvl 55. I'm not sure if you need to be friendly or not with Everlook before talking to Mau'ari the site didn't say. I believe that's how Aliance is supposed to get E'ko items. I just got the charm. I'll update when anything drops to confirm and see if Blizard has fixed this.

It is now 10/24/2006 and alliance can get these. I just had one drop after about 15 kills.

Confirmed by Blizzard that it's not obtainable by Alliance except via neutral AH at this time.

Has been confirmed to be AH sellable by the Horde, and rumored to be obtainable independently by Alliance, but I have discovered no documented method.

I hope its changed to be a non-quest drop in 1.9. Otherwise, how is the Alliance supposed to complete the mats list?

I got the plans for the Yeti, and will check and see if I can get the item to drop for me.
