In case any draeneis has been farming this lately it wont drop.

Just tried to pick it up. As of 4-1-07, it still won't drop for Draenei characters.

I can confirm that it DID drop for my Draenei mage. I don't know if it was fixed for patch 2.1 or not, but in any case, it DID drop and I have the quest for it.

Also note that this item is also actually a hidden (?) requirement for completing the quest... Don't ask me how i got rid of it, but by killing him again (without abandoning the quest) i was finally able to complete the quest.

The quest begins when you slay the boss Xavaric in Felwood. He drops this flute, and you kill more jadenar mobs until you get the 5 Jadefire Felbind.

After that you travel to the south and give the flute to the fella.

I've kille Xavaric for about 20 times now and It haven't dropped, the first 15 times I had the Further Corruption quest completed in my log, I abandoned it got it again thinking the flute might drop with the quest not completed(It dropped while doing the Further Coruption quest on my other character) and nothing changed, he still won't drop.
I've got a ticket atm but I don't think GM will tell me anything.

I had an issue where the Flute would not drop for my Draenei Shaman, after having created two GM tickets, I received the following email:

Yeah, my draenei shaman won't get the flute for whatever reason. I've looted it twice already :( That sucks ;_;

No drop for Me, a 54 Draenei Shaman, on April 29th, 2007. Clearly Blizzard has not done anything about this.

54 Dranei Shaman. Killed him 7 times, no drop. Figure it's still bugged. But possibly needed to try more, got tired of it though. With double xp and all the respawns, I figure I got my xp worth out of it anyhow.
Edit: Killed him about 20 times now while farming, still no drop.

I didnt even know I was doing a quest. I was just grinding came across the Satyrs or whatever they are killed the boss and pickedup a flute. About 2 days later realized had to right click it to start a quest.

After picking this up and killing mobs i got a Mind Controll debuff but wasnt sure if this was from the tricksters or the flute? i killed a bunch of them before and this didnt happen, anyone know?

I had a GM tell me its not a guarenteed drop.

What a crock! It drops for all but DRaenei.

Killed Xavaric twice with an NE friend. They got the flute twice, but never dropped for me. However, if you are grouped with another race when they start the tree escort, you do get the option to accept that quest.

For those that don't know, the escort quest is now much shorter. You used to have to escort the tree all the way to the Ashenvale border, but now you just walk around Irontree woods. So still worth doing the escort if you can.

Xavaric is being horribly racist, and is not dropping this item for Draenai, according to the GM I spoke with this evening.

It's 2019 and the flute didn't drop for my undead warlock yet. I have killed him like 20 times
