They last for 14 days of playtime, so the clock isn't counting down when you logout.

It seems like everyone on here (and on the trade channel in wow) are confused on this item. I don't understand why. Here is what the item is for.

You either get the gnome or goblin engineering path then you get the corresponding card for that path. All the card does is allow you (if you are gnome) to go into booty bay and learn the schematics that are under his secret members only list.

He trains you the same as any other trainer so you need to stop back every few engineering levels to see if he has any new schematics for you to learn. Once you learn them you can make the just like any other engineering item.

As with most membership cards IRL this card will expire. You wait the two weeks for it to exipre and then you renew your card so that you can continue to buy more schematics. Aftetr you hit level 375 engineering there really isnt any reason to renew the card because he wont teach you anymore (maybe Blizz will add new 375 schematics later so keep an eye out).

Each time you renew the card you will get a membership subscription in the mail. Its a letter from him thanking you for being a member but you will also have a chance (very low like 4%) to win one of the 3 or 4 rare schmatics in that letter each time you renew.

If you dont want to wait 2 weeks to get another chance at the rare schematics, and dont mind wasting gold. Just delete your card, and go to him, he will ask you to renew your card, once you do you will get the letter from him within 24 hours. If you dont get the item you want delete the card again and go back to him to renew it again, continue over and over again. You'll just get the rare schematics faster this way. But it will cost you 2g each time you renew the card.

Currently you can delete the card in your inventory, and then go to the respective quest giver and ask for a new one for 2g. Every time you renew the card, you get an item in the mail from the gnome king (Alliance). I have only tried doing this once a day. I do not know if you can delete the card, request a new one, delete that one, request a new one, etc etc, and get many gifts in the mail from the gnome king.

This entire quest has been removed. There is no card anymore. You can only get the Schematics by farming them in Gnomergan.

A couple Arguments for both:

At about 230 skill, High Impact Mithril Slugs go grey. Until 245 skill, when you can make Mithril GyroShot, there are not a lot of "simple skillup" combines that can be done. This is sort of a tough time for Gnomish Engineers that requires us to do some commission work or else farm a lot of rare things. Goblin Engineers, on the other hand, have some good explosives that they can make to bridge the 230-245 gap easily. So, a goblin engineer will most likely have an easier time getting his skill to 300.

However, I chose to do Gnomish Engineering. In my opinion the trinkets and gadgets are all-around more useful, fun, and sellable/tradeable.

I'm sure the career WoW players have some great uses for bombs, but I've never used them and I've made hundreds for skillups.

I play to have fun, and Gnome Devices are just more amusing to me. Have you ever killed something using a Battle Chicken? There is really nothing funnier than that.

I'm having a hard time finding what schematics are available for goblin and gnomish schematics so i can have an easier time choosing which way to go.

also, doing gnomish engineering quest will boost up gnomergan exile rep? YES OR NO?

I tried to cash the q 4 this card, but, even if I had all the stuff in my bag, I couldn't have the membership card.

Do I need a particular lvl in eng skill?

This is what worked for me;

In front of the tunnel for the Deeprun Tram there is 2 "spinning cog's" in the centre Speak to Tinkermaster OversparkEnjoy your unlocked schematics!

p.s. when i did this my membership card had not expired- not sure how it would work if yours has, but the same NPC does give an option to renew membership

When you complete the quest, and get the card, it will unlock the questgiver as a trainer:

With the card you can use the guy in tinker town as trainer for cool trinkets and cloth items.

I guees the Gnome in Gadgetzan with the teleporter, will also tell you to make a beacon: Not sure

hmm also: There is yet another Star Wars reference: You can make a force field belt, that absorbs 500 dmg. Its leather though... and can back fire.

Basically what the card does is allows you to learn skills form your chosen trainer (Goblin trainer or gnome trainer) if your card expires, you can no longer be taught any new schematics. you can go to the trainer and have him renew the card for 2 gold. the card lasts 14 days of gameplay (doesnt count time when your not playing) Make sure you dont go and renew your card just to find out you have learnt all the plans from the guy already =P. hope this answered everybody's question. if you need more info send mail to HordeBoy on the Durotan server.

PS. Gnomish engineers are good and can make quite a lot of really cool gadgets for all sorts of uses but, try not to rely on them too much. they tend to....explode alot. Goblin engineers rely on explosives that are handy in PvP (because they stun), but are otherwise pretty useless.

i am a gnomish engineer at skill 250 and cant find new schematics to level with, the only orange schematic i have is a gnomish mind control helmet...any ideas how to level or learn new schematics...by the way i bought some schematics for levels 265-285 but cant use them yet

any info would help

Well way back before BC i had engineering , became a gnomish engineer and then dropped engineering.I got it again and i have this membership card but all the patterns that say 'Require Gnomish Engineer' and still red for me.Even tho i have gnomish engi i cant learn any of the patterns....so what the heck is going on!

kk, i did some more research and found that prob and fixed it , dunno if it was cause i dropped engi and got it again but i jus had to use the book over in Tanaris.

2020 in classic, here are my experiences. I went gnomish for the hearth to Tanaris. Didn't see much of a benefit of the transporter to Winterspring, as it's already very close to Org, but Tanaris is out of the way, so having a hearth to get to Silithus (for Phase 5 and beyond) or Ungoro for thorium farming made it worth it for me. The only thing I wish I could make that requires Goblin is the sapper charges, but enough guildies are Goblin so I can mail them the mats to have them made. All the other trinkets, I haven't found extremely beneficial.
