How to Get to Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic

Northrend has the advantage of having two different starting zones which are not limited by faction in Wrath of the Lich King Classic.. Both Alliance and Horde can start in either Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord. But how do you get there? This guide will tell you about the available options for getting to Northrend, including Alliance ships, Horde zeppelins, and mage portals.
We also cover a new Horde zeppelin route for an easy way to cross between Ogrimmar and Thunder Bluff that was added in Wrath of the Lich King Classic.
Important: Try speaking to the Dockmaster before waiting for a boat or zeppelin. During server busy times, they often have the Dockmaster offer a direct port to the Borean Tundra or Howling Fjord destinations, rather than running the zeppelins or boats.
Alliance Ships to Northrend in Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Alliance players will need to take one of two ships to reach the two starter zones in Northrend. These leave out of Stormwind Harbor and Menethil Harbor in the Wetlands.
Stormwind to Borean Tundra
Players wishing to start in Valiance Keep at Borean Tundra will take the icebreaker ship
Kraken
out of Stormwind Harbor. This ship docks on the most northern dock at /way 18.6 26.2, all the way to the right when facing the dockyard. The dockmaster for the
Kraken's
dock is

Note: there is another icebreaker one dock over that's parked parallel to the dock. That one is not functional and has no dockmaster, so don't mistake that one you need. You need the one that pulls in at the end of the dock all the way to the right.

Like all ships, the
Kraken
stays at the dock for 1 minute before departing. The trip from Stormwind Harbor to Valiance Keep in Borean Tundra takes 1 minute 30 seconds.
Wetlands to Howling Fjord
Players who want to start at Valgarde in Howling Fjord will take the icebreaker ship
Northspear
out of Menethil Harbor, Wetlands. Again, this icebreaker docks at the northernmost harbor at /way 4.6 57.2, all the way to the right when facing the dockyard. The dockmaster at the
Northspear's
dock is

The
Northspear
parks for 1 minute at each dock, but its trip between Menethil and Howling Fjord is much longer -- 3 minutes 30 seconds one way. However, it's worth paying attention, since it's also one of the most visually beautiful trips you'll take aboard a ship in game. It does mean that if you just miss the ship and you're watching it pull away, you might as well go get a snack since it will be up to 8 minutes before it returns to Menethil Harbor.
Horde Zeppelins in Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Two new zeppelin towers have been built outside Orgrimmar and Undercity. In addition to taking you to the new Northrend zones, there's a new zeppelin with service between Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff.
Durotar to Borean Tundra
Horde players wishing to start in Warsong Hold in Borean Tundra will take the zeppelin
Mighty Wind
from a new zeppelin tower in Durotar, located west of the entrance to Orgrimmar, just past Rock Tusk Farm. The entrance to the tower is at /way 41.4 18.7. You'll catch the
Mighty Wind
on the north side of the tower (be careful not to go off the south side, since that zeppelin goes to Thunder Bluff). The dockmaster is

The
Mighty Wind
stays at dock for 1 minute, and takes 1 minute 10 seconds to cross from Durotar to Warsong Hold in Borean Tundra.
Undercity to Howling Fjord
Horde players who want to start in Vengeance Landing in Howling Fjord will take the zeppelin The Cloudkisser from a new zeppelin tower in Tirisfal Glades, just west of the existing tower between Undercity and Brill (entrance to the west tower is /way 60.1 58.5). Only one zeppelin leaves from this tower. The dockmaster is

stays at dock for 1 minute and makes a speedy 45-second trip from Tirisfal Glades to Vengeance Landing in Howling Fjord.
New Zeppelin Service to Thunder Bluff
As a bonus, the Orgrimmar tower also now has a zeppelin offering service to Thunder Bluff!

arrives and leaves out of the southern skydock at /way 41.4, 18.7, left as you face the tower. The dockmaster for the Durotar tower is

dock in Thunder Bluff is not the flight path tower; it's located on the west side of Spirit Rise in Thunder Bluff. The dockmaster is

spends 1 minute at dock and takes 3 minutes 45 seconds to cross between Orgrimmar and Thunder Bluff (there is no zoning like there was in later expansions; you sail all the way across).

Have they removed the ships? I had to speak to the dock master and was just teleported..
Update: Ah, I see the ship now, guess that's just an added convenience due to the long wait.
