This sounds a bit like the Onyxia encounter pre-TBC to me, where guilds would usually go with as few people as possible, although that had something to do with the encounter... This could be the same with Malygos as well though, although less than 9 people for a 25, or even 10 man raid sounds a bit silly.... gonna be a LOT of fun though!

Taking in count that good group of 3, doing all right, could pass through everything up to 60'ish instances, I almost certain this achievement very doable. Just need some teamwork instead of blind rush.

EDIT: "Group of 3 of recommended range of levels for given instance" that is.

Went here yesterday with my guild, and we did it with 9 people, and didn't get the achievement, so it does indeed require 8 people and not 9, even though the description might be confusing.

Going to get it next reset then i guess :)

Achieved 14/12/08 with 8 people in the raid. Killed after 10 minutes and a few seconds, and I'd advise taking a heroism/bloodlust with you - we didn't have one and hit the enrage as a result :)

Completed this last night (16-12), took us some long hours to practice, but it has learned us how to do this fight properly. We were running with a buffed castergroup :

2x Warlock
1x Spriest
1x Ele Shaman
1x Holy priest
1x Holy paladin
1x Warrior tank
1x Deathknight (Spark catcher).

Healing was intensive, we had the paladin on mt, and priest on groupheals for Phase 1. Last phase there was only one drake focus on healing, the rest managed to get those high numbers of stacks on. One little tip, one of the locks managed to get curse of elements on him just before we went airborne. No enrage for us.

Completed it last night with 1:30 left on the timer.
Can be solo healed which frees up a lot of time.

2x surv hunters
1x ret pally
1x affliction lock
1x boomkin
1x rogue
1x resto druid

Used 2 healers in phase 3, let most of our dps get 20 stacks by the end

fewer than 9... in the instance? or in the raid? can u have offline raid members such as priests/locks for buffs, HS, SS etc?

did this last month, quite easy, all dps is ranged and shaman bloodlust when 2 stacks

Did this with: 2 mages, hunter, fury warrior, ele chaman - DPS; druid, priest - heal; feral druid - tank. Took 4 tries.
Had alt pally buffing kings on first try (malygos enraged and got 15k hp remaining on that try) and last try.
So, yes, bring some alt/friend to buff your raid to make it easier.
