This quest is really quite simple for the warlock dreadsteed quest line. After you had completed the pre requisite quests for this quest, you must goto Scholomance's alchemy lab. This lab looks like any ordinary lab and it is in the same room as raz frostweaver(lich boss). You can either let the imp loose before killing the boss, or after, it does not matter.

If you can get a couple of 70s to help you, this is easily 3-mannable. I did it at 61 with a priest and rogue--get in, clear trash, let the imp out of the jar, get out.

Once the imp is done and you get the completion message, don't be worried if you see the special paper nowhere in your inventory. It's not supposed to be there, J'eevee has it with him *inside the jar*, so you're done, no extra quest item to haul around aside from the jar itself.

soloed at 70 in just under an hour.
you only really need to kill pats everything else can be avoided as long as you're carefull.
use a VW to tank rattlegore, he actually dosn't hit as hard as the other mobs in his room, he has a temporary aggro reset though which is kind of annoying.
after you get the key backtrack to the entrance (or just die and run back in) from here you jump down just behind the group at the door to the viewing room beneathe you. if you take a while to study the way they move you can move inside without getting aggro. otherwise ss ftw!
the mobs in ras' room are cake, and the lab is just to your right. congrats you're done!

This is a very useful guide for all 70 Warlocks. I followed it myself as an affliction Warlock and it went smoothly.

SOLO: 70 Demo lock, regular BC drop/quest gear.

1) Have the key to scholo...
2) Bring at least 10 shards, I did it with 5.
3) Curse on Weakness is your BEST friend here.
4) Enter scholo, 4 dead skelly warriors on the entry bridge. Single pull right and left front statics with Curse of Weakness. Dont send pet or you get ALL 4. The 2 in the back you will get together so just CoW them, throw some dots, tap tank, and HEAL Felguard. It's really not hard at 70 it seems, or CoW is just really awesome.
5)Open the door and pull the roaming skell warrior you see. Go in room, go down to the right side corner and pull the roamers to here as they walk by. You can clear the close statics if you want. Go left across the room and through the other gate. I pulled the right statics next to the door, 3 mobs, but probably didnt have too as the other side didnt aggro when I went through door.
6) Go in and turn left and you will see a long hall with 3 roamers and static bad guys on each side. You can ignore the statics and actually kill the roamers in the middle of the room without aggroing them. Go to the end of the room and open the gate.

7) 4 roamers in this next room and 2 come close enough to the door to pull them outside the room 1 at a time. when this is done, go in and turn left.Straight across this room is where your going, but you have 2 roamers left, further into this room. stay in the middle of the hall and pull the first roamer to you and kill it all quite like in the middle of the hall. Careful not to aggro the statics on both sides.. The three static mobs in the center of the room can be completely avoided. Run across middle of the room, timing roamer on the other side, and pull him from the other doorway.

8) Go through the door to the bird room, Aviary I think, and hug the left wall to the other end, you WILL aggro the far birdguy next to the steps down. Kill that set and go downstars to just outside Rattlegores room.

9) Rattlegore is in the center of this room on a pile of bones. The 4 mobs, 2 in front 2 in back, are chained to him.I knew that from this board, but THIS is where I WIPED because I underestimated the these due the easiness of everything else I was owning. Pull the front 2 one at a time with CoW. In this fight you are a priest. Keep CoW on the mobs at all times, start tap tanking / healing pet EARLY, its like they have a dmg multiplier or something. Inch up toward the middle right and pull the right back one when it paths close. When it's dead, run around to the right of rattlegore and behind him on the back wall and pull the last one. Rattlegore himself is a bit harder than them in the fact that he stuns your pet and goes for you. stay back off him and do him like you did his minions. I ended up back at the door to his room with him when he finally droped. GET THE KEY to the Viewing Room.

10) Go back to the first room you came in at, killing any roamers that repopped, I had one. Go to the exit and turn the direction you came in.Go accross the bridge on the right side and sac your pet. Jump down off the bridge to the far right corner, next to the Viewing Room door, and make a pet as fast as you can. A Glowing goul thingy will aggro and 2 non elite skellies will add.. Get them dead and open the viewing room door.

11) Go in, All NON aggro, DONT talk to any of them, run accross the room to the next gate. Open it and go into the hall.

12) You are now outside the lab, walk just inside the room and kill the 3 statics to the right, next to the alchemy table your going to use.

13) Release Imp and let him do his imp thing. Imp Delivery Completed!

this is how i did it( NOTE: leave the lock at the entrance and only go with druid)
1.get a friend to help (recomended a feral druid)
2. kill the first 4 guards( bear form and use Demoralizing Roar ALOT as it will help reduce dmg takes by almost 20%)
3.prowl to the first iron gate to you left as you enter the next room.
4 from there on prowl to the stairs before the door to Rattlegore
5. now Rattlegore has 2 npc in front of him you need to kill before you can get to him.
6. kill the 2 trash in front of him and then kill him also( he actualy hits alot less then the trash around him just stay near wall as he will ocasionaly throw you)
7. when he dies loot the Viewing Room Key and then prowl back all the way up.
8 now at the room where you killed the first 4 skeltal guards you should be able to jump down as druid and kill the first group near the door and then get your lock down and go trough the door.
9. keep walking as the next room is all neutral to you and go on to the next hall then room.
10. in there kill the 4 trash groups( no need to kill the boss) and then release the imp todo his job and then your done

took me around 30 tops to complete all of this with a lvl 70 feral druid and my lvl 62 lock

Good luck( PS: you wil still need a healer/dps for dire maul

doing this is easy i got 3 friend the three were lvl 70 one mage one warrior and a warlock (i was a lvl 61 warlock) all i did was send my felguard in for some extra help and dot the rest even tho they will take care of much of the enemys in like 5 secs including if there are 2 felguard in the fight

If anyone is getting ready to go do this quest, can you please email me on WOW so I can go in with you as a group. I seem to be having a hard time in dungeons and an even harder time finding any groups to do them with. I have already put out 250 gold on this series quest for my dreadsteed and i dont mind putting out the other 250 gold for the final 3 items in which any and all warlocks who want to complete this quest together, can go without paying for the last 3 items because i will have them. as i did it i just walked as long as i could.. didn't care mutch about getting aggro, then when i die. i just walked my shaman (on other account) and ressed him.. this i kept upp until i was there and let the imp do hes job :) easy as that.. if you dont have any alt/main account just ask some guilde or somthing :) best of luck!

That's where i failed.
I was just checking the students lines, when i went to talk to Vectus his invisible fire shield buff hit me and my pet. Pet was on defensive and atacked him. Next thing i know the whole room is beating me.
I quit after that :(

Raiding, becoming leader, booting everyone then going to the lab when you're in a party no longer works. Tried it last night and the imp would act like he was creating the parchment but I never received it. Since the last patch this must be done in a 5 man party.

'kay, first thing to get out of the way is the issue of the Xorothian Stardust. No, you never have to buy that again. Do not worry if you've tried releasing the imp, it didn't work, and you have no Stardust in your inventory. You didn't have it in your inventory in the first place; you lost it back when you turned in the Xorothian Stardust quest.

Second is the issue of the 5-man scholo. Blizzard's gotten rid of the raid to normal workarounds and you can be sure they'll get rid of any others you think up in due time. New 60 warlocks: Don't feel cheated that you don't get to cheat the system. Scholo can be 5-manned, don't worry. I did it easily with a Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest, and myself. The key is to remember you're not a raid. You need to keep your head and coordinate and you'll be fine.

We killed all bosses with no wipes and no difficulties. Yes, even Jandice, Gandling, and the Herald. Cake.

just ran scholo tonight with some guild members and we had a hard time finding a preist so we went with a durid. had a couple of deaths but nothing bad.

ran it with:

2 hunters
2 warlocks
1 druid

none of us where really geared out either. me and 1 of the hunters had pvp gear but that was it. proving that if you have some skilled players in their class that just about any group can do this! this was fun and a great time.

i do admit that a priest makes scholo alot easier but don't hang it up if you can't get 1.

as you can tell we didn't have a warrior either but my build is a soul link build so i acted as the tank for the most part. so it is even do able without a real tank also.

of course i don't think think that this is the BEST way to run this but just another way incase u can't find the ever so hard to get priest or true tank. at the most part it was really fun.

so good luck to all you locks and don't let people tell you that you can't run scholo unless you have a priest or warrior!

just whisper people in Scholomance and when they are finished have the leader invite you and promote you before they leave party, then drop to the right after entrance and do your quest @_@

Midgelle's advice worked perfectly. My warlock friend and I soloed this part after numerous failed PUG scholo runs.

Here is how: Wait by entrance until a group comes out that has just competed scholo. Make sure they have killed Ras as part of their run. Ask them for an invite and to make you leader. Then you can invite any other warlocks who need this. Enter scholo (u need a key or get someone to open door for you). Come in the entry way to a hall where there is more than likely a respawn. Hug the right corner railing and go just barely in and jump over. You shouldn't get aggro at this point. Jump all the way to the bottom and run through, you will come to a room that is full of yellow mobs that won't attack you. Run to the exit at the far end of that room. That will take you to a path to a room called "The Laboratory." Come inside just a little then go straight to the right wall. You will see an alchemy lab here - go ahead and release imp (fast)as mobs may have seen you on the way down and could be coming for you. The imp will do his thing and even if the mobs see you and come in and attack you, just wait for imp to finish before releasing your spirit. It will show as "Parchment Created 1/1" and then you're done. There is no paper to pick up or anything, just go back to see Mor'zul. Very simple!

You don't NEED the skeleton key to open the door. Simply Hellfire yourself to death next to the door, run back to your body and rez yourself inside. Works like a charm.

Here is what I did to complete the quest. First, I parked my warlock outside of Scholomance. Then I brought my main, a level 70 feral druid, and my husband joined me with his level 70 rogue. The two of us cleared a few guards and minimal mobs and stealthed to Rattlegore to get the Viewing Room key. Once we had that we stealthed to the viewing room and went through it and we cleared the room that Ras is in. We didn't have to kill Ras but we killed him for the fun of it.

Then my druid left the party and my warlock was invited. I entered instance, jumped down, ran through viewing room and entered Ras' room. There I released the imp to complete the quest. It took less than a half an hour. So if you have a druid and rogue friend who can help you out, the quest will be much easier than trying to find a full run or help with a full run just to complete Imp Delivery. Good luck.

There is a reward and thats being 1 step closer to your epic. But you wont get the silver unless you dont have BC because you get money for your XP

+Do not listen to any comments above. There obviously not up to date. If there past 4 months in date there expired. Scholomance isnt a raid dungeon anymore like UBRS is. it was stopped and made easier. It was only made a raid dungeon because of the room with the trainee's in.

+If your wondering where the alchemy lab is I will tell you. When you enter you clear the bridge, 1st room, 2nd room, summoning room, and Main hall. Kill Razzlegore or whatever his name is, Get the key open the viewing door. Enter where the students are go in DONT ATTACK THEM! move across not towards the last 4 boss' cut across the room so you go down some steps and there is like a lich dude who freezes you and pushes you back. Go in there kill the boss guy go to the alchemy desk and let the imp do his thing

just ran thru with myself (67 lock) and 70 priest, easy money! (yes, you read right, 2 man group) only wiped twice, found several blues, don't know why noone ever wants to go here... if any locks on Khadgar want to go, let me know, i'll be happy to do again!

First off, this is very hard to solo at 70. I've heard it can be done but the monsters in Ossuary basement hit VERY hard and the named boss is tough. I did this with a 70 warrior and we handled it easily. I really, really would not recommend trying to solo this.

You'll need:

Key to scholo, or a powerful seaforium or elemental seaforium charges, pay/bribe someone to blow the lock if you don't have the key or engineering. You'll only need it done one time since if you die you can get in as a ghost. If desperate, die and go in as a ghost.

More food, water, and soul shards than you could ever imagine using. 35-40 shards isn't unreasonable. 40-60 heavy bandages, food and waters. Remember you have no way of getting more shards in there, and solo you can go through them at a frantic rate at times.

Patience and paranoia to keep an eye out for roamers, they are everywhere and they often stop for a minute or two, so it can be hard to tell at first glance who is gonna just get up and start walking right at you without warning. You can't fear the undead but at least you don't have to worry about them fleeing into other mobs. There are humanoids here that will run and tattle on you, bringing more mobs, if you have a debuff to keep them from running use it at all times.

Entrance: Clear first 4 mobs, pull to avoid the next two behind the grate which will aggro if you send a pet up to them.

Reliquary: You'll see two staircases, left and right here at the entrance. Go right and follow the wall around left to avoid the mob of 4 at bottom of left side stairs. Easier to go right then hug the wall to just get pairs, kill the pair to the right of the gate and avoid the group of four to the left again.

Chamber of summoning: pull roamers into stairwell to clear a straight path, ignore to the side groups. Get all the roamers one by one or trust me one will manage to sneak up on you. Proceed into the main hall.

Main hall: Several roamers, clear them one at a time to give yourself a path through the others. At 70 it won't take clearing too many, but pay special attention to the roamers that walk near the entrance to the next room the Ossuary (room with the dragonlings and handlers). You have to clear at least the first group to get in there, and you don't want anything from the big hall to wander up behind you.

Ossuary clear a path to the left, first group to get in then hug wall to the left and probably take out the last handler with dragonlings if they aggro.

Go down stairs, named boss surrounded by undead. Linked to him are the two in front and in back, if you aggro him you get the rest so start killing to one side and work your way behind him to get the two in back. These are pound for pound some of the toughest monsters. L61 elites but they do huge damage and very tough. Extreme caution when soloing these, let alone the named boss.

When you kill the boss, loot the key and go back up to the instance entrance on the bridge. Face they way you did when you came in and to the right you'll see the door to the alchemy lab on the right. Jump down and aim for the corner, when you unlock the door, even at 70 you'll aggro that corner group so may as well attack them anyway before doing it.

Alchemy lab: The place to use the imp is at the table by the first (largest also) group on the right. Be careful of runners and if you do the lich there, do him last since he fears a lot and you'll run into the groups there if you don't kill them ahead of time. After that use the jar there and head to turn it in to get the next part of the quest called Dreadsteed of Xoroth which takes place in Dire Maul.

i just got done with this quest......we had a full group of 70 lock, me a 61 lock, 60 hunter, and another 61 lock, 67 frost mage....we died once or twice and once 70 lock died at rattlegore he got pissed or somethin idk and he logged.....but it was strange we solo'd rattlegore and never died again hmmmmm.....=D so basically we had no tank or healer and solo'd the boss in the laboratory went to the alchemy lab table to the right corner of entrance to the laboratory and ported to shatt, saved my hearth and went to burning steppes

Next part is up to you.. There is a name in that room. Don't remember her name but it was a ghosty type chick. I killed the next 3 statics on the right side of the room and pulled her. I was worried because of the last main boss and because she was 1 lvl higher, the only mob I seen in here I could get a Soul Shard from. She went down in 60 seconds or less and dropped 2 blue thingies I sold for no more than 5 gold.

Rattlegore and his 4 friends are the issue for the 70 lock here. Im a demo lock like I said, but I think any 70 lock can do it, even with a vw.

Thats it. Died once for being over confident, after that schooling it all went really bad for them from there on out.

Go slow, do roamers, and have fun!

For all those level 70 locks posting here... no help to us lower levels on what spells you guys used to solo this quest. This is a level 60 quest. I can't believe you guys ran around the Outland on your level 40 mounts. Give us some more useful tip on how to solo this at level 60.

once u are able to locate the damn lab ... kill the main boss then right-click on jar to start process then it'll come up on screen as completed then u go back to guys at Burning Steppes ...

No you cant use the alchemy lab in shatt. i alrdy tried that, you have to go to scholo becasue you have to get the parchment and it wont give you the parchment at the shatt. lab.

I was dreading this, a quest I really need to do that involves a dungeon (i've managed to pretty much avoid dungeons so far, tried a couple of times but people are so rude when your still trying to figure out what to do!)

1) Clear instance with your 70. Easily soloable on a BM hunter.
2) Invite friend.
3) Promote friend.
4) Alt+F4 out, log in on warlock.
5) Get invited, zone in, dodge pats, and finish quest.

i did this the quick way. well i did get a lvl 70 and a lvl 65 but the other quick way :P when you get in past the first room with enemies. jump off the blcony then go through about 1 room and your at the lab! then do quest and hearth out

I completed this quest with 4 other people from my guild and it made it fairly easy if you try to do it on your own you will die over and over. We were a group of Locks with a tank and a healer worked out very well and we all got our dreadsteeds.

sorry about the rant about this part of quest.was late last nite when i got this quest,had hard day at work.caught me by surprise and i obviously didn't take it well :).doing quest now for scholo key.then I'll find out if I'm good enough to do solo.At worse,I'll die trying{possibly many times).Let you know how it turns out.

Im the only person in here after the raid hearthed out, in a normal group with a guildie who is now in Orgrimmar, but still, it will not complete. He runs and jumps around, does what he does, and the quest does not complete, as if im in a raid still. some sort of bug, so Im about to petition a gm, cause this sh!t is buggin.

Let me clear this up, a few patches ago blizzard patched out the ability to raid clear ungroup and complete instance quests. They now expect you to party clear and complete your quests. The good thing is everyone is trying to do their timed runs through the instances so finding a party to get into that has cleared to that point is pretty easy. I also heard that instead of collecting all those reagents and all the prior portions of the quest that if you have a lock that already has those items that you can get your dreadstead with their help and without having to buy all that stuff. I'm not sure if its still do-able but it was as of patch 1.09. If you try this quest in raid the imp will do his thing but you wont get credit for it. Do it in party and he'll do his thing and youll complete it.

Today on Halloween, I can also confirm that the raid trick does not work. I was made raid leader, everyone left, I went into the lab and released the imp...nothing. In desperation, I then did a /who and saw 6 people in Scholomance including myself. I whispered one of those people and they said they had just completed their 5 man run. I left my instance (started as a raid), joined their group, came back in so that it was their instance (started as a group), and went over to the lab. This time the quest DID complete. So if more than 5 people go in at the same time, there is no way around it...the quest will not work. I got lucky in finding a 5 man group on their way out.

EDIT: Since loot runs are so popular, you might be having a hard time getting a 5 man Scholo run as was my problem. You could walk over to Scholo alone from time to time and ask in the General channel if there are any groups there doing a 5 man run, and if they will be clearing the laboratory. If so, it doesn't inconvenience them in any way to put you in their group when they are finished, and you can walk over there by yourself to complete your quest. However, if the entrance mobs have respawned, you could do what I did.... I soulstoned myself and put on a voidwalker shield, then ran onto the bridge, jumped off to the RIGHT and ran into the room with the Scholomance students, where the mobs caught up to me and killed me. Once I rezzed, I was safe because the Scholomance students are non-aggressive. Also, from that point on, the mobs were recently killed so nothing up to the lab had respawned, allowing me to complete this quest in peace.

If you all can't get into scholo, just life tap and hellfire right outside hte door, release, and run through the door as a ghost and res. Then right clic the torch to open the door.

So, i checked it myself. It cannot be done in a raid. the imp will run around and do his thing, but even though he says "its done", you get no item.

does this mean you cant finish this solo/that's crap.spent hundreds to get steed,now i cant finish it.good going blizz,just like trying to get to 300 for enchanting.guess ill buy a palomino instead.i refuse to have to party to finish a quest.its why i quit FFXI.

1) Where in Scholo actually IS this alchemy lab? Is it Ras Frostwhisper's room? The Butcher's room? Somewhere else?

2) Since when is Scholomance hard enough that you need a raid to clear it... I've run Scholo something like 8 times (usually on those previously mentioned loot runs) and the only challenge is having enough weapon DPS to kill the skeletons guarding Jandice... So all you Dreadsteed searching Warlocks... GO RUN SCHOLO! Maybe you'll get some Dreadmist drops. They're nice!

I was confused so others might be too. When you complete the part inside the lab, the Imp tells you it's done and the quest log is updated (noted as "complete"). However, there is nothing for you to pick up nor any new item in your bag. Apparently the Imp takes it back inside his jar!

And no, I don't know if the raid trick works somehow (apparently it doesn't), but this is *supposed* to be a little difficult and require the help of friends! We had a good time clearing that place out, even if we perhaps had more Tier 1 stuff on us than is intended.

Got 15050 xp for completing.

Now to conquer Dire Maul and Luckily have a Guild Member with the Mats and will schedule Dire Maul Run to be done by Tomorrow. So happy :P

Glad i chose to be a miner all that Dark Iron Ore was somewhat a pain but I'm told totally worth it to complete this quest 'by other 70 Lvl Warlock's'.

ok, brought the imp Scholomance. theirs a door that u need to open to get in, where do I get the key for it so that I can unlock the door. I know how to do the end portion of the qst, cus I helped a group of locks fight the dread steed... Seems like ever level 70 lock I ask can't remember where they get the key.

For anyone looking at this in TBC classic, I soloed it on 'fresh' (i.e. basic levelling gear) 70 warlock but it wasn't a walk in the park. I followed the guide in the comments below which is still relevant. Take your time, as if you end up pulling extra you can still easily get overwhelmed and some of the mobs still hit quite hard at 70. I would recommend bringing as many shards as you can as if you mess up you'll have to go far to restock.

Some additional notes:

I was able to skip the 'fat bird' before going down into Rattlegore's room, just need to time it right to run past
There was one of Rattlegore's surrounding mobs I couldn't pull separately (tried many spots). In the end I just pulled the boss together with the last mob from as far away as possible, nuked it and then was able to finish off the boss itself afterwards (boss doesn't hit as hard as the mobs do)
When going through into the viewing room, you can jump down from the bridge into the top left corner beside the door, open it, and go through without pulling any of the skeleton/ghoul mobs
You can get close enough to the alchemy lab and use the quest item without aggroing the 3 mobs that are near it. The imp will not pull them during the scripted event

Description

There is one more process required for Mor'zul's parchment; I need paper infused with Xorothian stardust. And... I'm afraid I can't do that here. I don't have the equipment!

There is an alchemy lab, however, with everything needed. It's in the Scholomance, on the isle of Caer Darrow in the Plaguelands.

I can't make the trip, but here - take this jar. There's an imp inside who is quite clever. Let him out at the alchemy lab and he'll infuse the parchment.
