2 mages and a resto druid make this fight a joke. 3 decurses means spell bomb is not an issue. Plenty of AoE. Just make sure the tank is toped off during the stun.

not a hard boss if you have a druid healer.
did it today (26.12) with fury war/prot war/rogue/lock/me(resto drood)

just heal all, use macros, insygnia when u get stunned and its critical. same with the mana bomb. just wait and do some rejuv + swiftmend when it get's ugly.

did it with pug group of tottal retards and tank with green shit.

I wrote another macro for targeting and HoTing spirits
With this you can have only one macro instead of 3 for each spirit, with click of mouse 1 button, you'll HoT Hawk spirit, with mouse 2 (note that mouse 2 is right button, not midle) Falcon, and mouse 3 (midle) will target and HoT Eagle

/target Hawk Spirit
/target Eagle Spirit
/target Falcon Spirit
/cast Rejuvenation(Rank 1)
/targetlasttarget

Remember that you can replace Rejuvenation(Rank 1) with Regrowth(rank1), if you prefer 2sec cast and 21s Hot instead of instant cast with 8s HoT

Macro will after HoTing spirit retarget to your last target. (iIf you are tank, It will HoT spirit without deselecting Anzu)

I noticed that in a previous comment that they said the Essence Infused Moonstone was consumed each time. This is no longer the case and so long as after you complete your quest, go back to the quest giver. He will give you a new one that can be reused over and over again.

The possible drop for the mount isent common... the only reason its on the front row is because this boss dosent drop any trash items, the drop rate is 0.8% or 23 out of 2860 if it hasent changed lately - Golgothaa of Anentheron, one lucky gnome who got the mount.

EDIT: this mount looks exacly like Anzu the Raven Lord himself

A fairly "simple" yet quite fun fight. I just down him as a feral tank in moderate gear with a warrior, hunter, and mage dpsing and a priest healing. We wiped once, but only because of bad luck; Anzu cast his Cyclone quite often, but it just so happened to land on the priest EVERY time he did it. Afterwards, we downed him with little difficulty.

This quest is the "tree of life stage" of this quest and is MUCH easier with a druid healing or dpsing rather than tanking. But fortunately, when Anzu banishes, it gives you time to cast some rank 1 Regrowths and Rejuvs on the birds. I suggest going for the eagle first, as the bird spawns will be the most pressing issue at the time, then the other two. Since it's only rank one, you can easily spam them. Right before Anzu unbanishes (when all the birds are dead) top off each bird with a fresh regrowth (it lasts the longest) and quickly jump into bear form. It's a simple tank and spank aside for that.

You don't need backup healers or a dedicated healing druid for the stones.

I tank him and when he spawns birds I let the DPS handle it and rejuvenate the statues, that is enough of a help, you don't need the statues up 24/7

Guys consider this...the Eagle statue (click and read) https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/spell=40240 appears to have two methods of working:

using rejuvenation or regrowth will make the statue attack the boss once every 3 seconds.

using lifebloom appears to make the statue attack once every 1 second.

so my theory is for someone to test regrowthing the hawk and falcon, while keeping lifebloom on the eagle to triple its damage to the boss.

someone please try to confirm this.

This boss isnt as hard as you all make him sound. I just ran it yesterday with crap CC. The whole "journey" getting there was rough but the boss fight was a complete cake walk. War tank, feral drood, 2 resto droods, and mage. Yea..was a late night and server reset so no one was on...It went alright, couldve been better with more CC but this boss is way too easy. All you really need to watch out for is the spellbomb and just keep the bird spirits up.

You get it after you turn in the quest. Its a follow up after killing Anzu back at Cenarion Refuge.

Was in sethekk last night. 2 druids were in the party me as balance and a feral tank. Had a pally on healing while i just kept regrowth rank 1 on the 3 adds and cast the occasional heal or dot. 1st attempt was a 1% wipe after which it got harder as i was lettng the adds get back into stone form. After a few failed tries i just made sure the 3 bird spirits were up all the time and with the beneficial auras the fight was easy.

was the 1 drop...the only 1 i can find also. Also a badge and shards. Hope that there is some interesting druid gear off this guy. Pretty amazing fight.

We did it with a holy priest, a feral druid tanking, a lock, a hunter and 1 more feral druid (dpsing and off healing/off tanking). Group doesn't really matter if you do it the easy way. But probably you wont be able to do this without a druid and a mage at least.

This guy has a LOOOOT of HP, its a very long, exhausting and hard fight, but it will go smoother if you know what to do. He also drops aggro suddenly to charge at random party members (usually the ones who are further back, like casters, healers and ranged DPSers.) He also throws a sucky spell that lasts for 10 seconds that makes you take 1k damage and drain 2k MP if you cast any spell. When the healer gets this you will probably need someone to off heal. He also does a very annoying spell that stuns everybody around him. Try not to get close if youre the healer or a caster. The guy is easy to tank, you dont need to have an uber tank. At 70% and 20% he will banish and a BUNCH of lvl 70 birds will come (around 10 birds per swarm). They are not elite, but they hit pretty hard though. You need to keep you mage/Aoe alive at all costs or you will never do this. Ok, now the strategy. You have two ways to kill this guy:

Regular way.- ***You need a mage or strong AoE for this.*** You have to place your party members beside the bird that gives them bonus, depending on their class. (Make sure you read the instructions given in the note you got from opening the box with the summoning material needed, so you can know what bird gives each buff.) Remember that birds will only help if you keep a HoT on them (it must be a druid HoT, priests renew just doesnt work). When hes banished and you have the birds on you, keeping the 3 helping birds HoT'ed is a MUST. One of these spirit birds can AoE and other one gives a -500 dmg taken buff, so try to keep them alive at all costs. He will unbanish after 2 or 3 minutes, no matter if there is any bird still alive. So burn the bird swarm down as fast as you can. Doing this right the 2 times he banishes is the key. He berserks when he is about dying, so be careful.

Easy way.- ***It will be fixed soon probably, so if you need to do this quest, do it ASAP*** This way works, i tried it myself. You can kite him back to one of the firsts rooms of the instance, way back down the stairs. If you dont back up far enough the bird swarms will come. But if you bring the boss to the entrance of the instance, the birds that appear when he banishes wont come, and you can have 2 breaks of 3 mins during the fight (if you dont lag too much, you can even walk out of the instance, drink and repair and come back). This way the guy is a joke, you just have to dps him down.

Did it with a Feral Druid Tank, Rogue, two Holy Priests, and me a feral Druid in Cat form. If you manage to do get to this point in the instance you shouldn't have to worry about this guy. We thought the two guards guarding any door in the instance were a lot harder...;o)

The key to this fight is easy: If you have the Debuff that burns Mana, just don't cast. That's why it makes things a lot easier if you do have a second healer, who doesn't necesarrily have to be specced as one just in case your main healer can't cast. Our Druid Tank was completely Epic geared and had tons of armour and hp but this guy hits pretty hard so you do have to watch your tank. Other than that it's a piece of cake - no kidding.

If u do not want to fight the adds that he summons, make sure to pull him into the ROOM WHERE U JUST KILLED THE LAST BOSS. Fight in the circle of that room. Then u do not have to worry about killing the adds and this will give u a break when he banishes..This fight becomes a tank and spank fight.. Also make sure to have the highest hp range member to be farthest away from the rest of the other range dps members so if he charges and does damage, that member will have a higher chance of survival...

Anzu is pretty easy boss. 2 full heal specced healers are not a must at all. Our build was
Druid ( Feral )
Mage ( Frost )
Paladin ( healer )
Rogue ( Sword )
Priest ( Shadow )
The boss was hitting me for 1.2-1.3k dmg which was not hard for the healer. The rogue and the mage were interupting the cyclones so they were not a problem at all. The paladin was trying to keep me on full health all the time so when we got the 6secs stuns everything was fine even with no hots on me.
When the boss banished himself and the birds came the mage aoed them ( abit slow and we always had 2-3 birds left on little health when the boss got out of banish ) While the birds were on I removed my bear Form and put Rejuve's on all the Npc's around so it was not a problem. The boss was charging the player who was the furthest from him and in our case that was the paladin as he is plate user. About the spell bomb... the paladin and the shadow priest made macros and if the paladin had the spell bomb for 10 seconds, the shadow priest was rdy to heal incase...easy
Pretty much that's the fight.
We wiped once and the next try we did it
It was abit hard for the paladin to keep the mage alive but he managed to do it. He used 1 mana potion. After the first wipe we had a general idea of the boss and it was peace of cake

Thought this fight was going to be hard... but it was so easy....down Anzu first attempt. Didn't bother with the spirit birds just tank and spank. Phase 2 is nice and easy with the summon birds, they don't attack hard at all. Dps them down as quick as you can and you'll be right.
The line up:

Did him on first attempt with resto druid, hunter, lock, holy pala and prot pala. This was our first heroic sethekk attempt too.
Key is to keep birds alive and watch the debuff.

im starting to play wow again. last time i played was a year ago and our guild was in naxx. so im new to this heroic stuff and outland instances. 1 question. do these heroic instances have a cooldown and if so how long is it. my guild that was with me in naxx is now on anetheron on hyjal summit and promised me they would run me to this boss for that mount.. if thiers no cool we could run this back to back several times a night.. but if thier is plz tell me so i can deal with that 2......................dont call me an idiot for trying to farm for it. That mount is a 3% drop. iv had deathcharger drop for our guild 6 times and its less than .1%

Pretty easy boss fight to be honest; havn't wiped in any of my encounters with Anzu. As the only druid in the party, as well as being the tank, I managed to get the HoTs up on the Bird Spirits during the banish phases with no problem. Theres a good 3-4 second buffer between banishment and the AoE mobs, so I recommend making a macro to get all the buffs for the birds so they go down quickly. But honestly its not a hard fight at all.

The spell bomb is a curse, so you can decurse it.

I am feral, but I put my healing set, and all I did was cast rejuv rank 1 on them in chain, sometime casting a heal on others if the tank had a lil problem or in the stun.

Our healer(Pally) didn't even lost more then 3k mana... our dps however were oom rather fast :)(Prolly had a few bombs blowing on them).

Bomb doesn't seam to go if oyu decurse yourself.(At least I didn'T notice my mana going down from my decurse).

This guy is cake. I had been reading up on the forums and here about how you need at least 2 healers and a druid to keep the HOTs up the whole fight. As long as your group is kara/heroic geared it is easy. I was the only druid in the group and I was tanking ( I do have 30993 armor ) and the only time i threw a hot on anything was when he was banished and that was on the eagle to help out cause we only had a warlock for AOE and this took care of all the adds by the time Anzu became unbanished. All you have to remember is to explain to your group that if they have the debuff Spell Bomb, do not cast anything, and you shouldnt have any problems. Our group composition was

Druid Tank (me)
Shaman Healer
Shadow Priest (didnt need to help heal anyone during the fight)
Warlock
Rogue

Hope some of this helps you guys out, cause I know I was under the impression that we would have to have another druid in the group to keep the HOTs up on the bird.

A druid that sumoned him but had to leave gave me tha instance save and it's doable without a druid, more dificult than average heroic bosses but still doable.

Just heal the tank before the stun and kill the birds fast ;)

Very easy fight for a resto druid. Just barely have +1000 healing. Most important thing to do is cast rank 1 regrowth on the bird allies that spawn. The buffs the bird allies give you are huge and it hugely reduces the amount of damage the boss and does and his adds do. Just make sure to keep those bird allies active and you shouldn't have any trouble.

Just tanked this on my protection paladin. Wasnt too hard rly. I choosed my group carefully, a mage (dont know the spec, a feral druid, a holy priest, a affliction lock and me then ofcorse.

Mob groups was very easy with this group.

Anyway when we were about to encounter Anzu the druid explained the tactic. During the fight we did NOT HoT the birds. We still managed to make this. As a protection paladin. Concecrate right after Anzy banishes, the dont hit hard and are easily killed. Aoe those.

Anzus AoE fear is however nasty. if im not misstaken it ticks for 5 seconds. Healer might have some problems to keep the tank alive. Rinse and repeat and you'll spank his a$$

You only need one druid for this fight, and no AOE. My last group was something like:

Feral Druid Tank (Me)
Holy Priest (Healer)
Shadow Priest
Enh Shammy
Hunter

When you're fighting Anzu, it's simple tank and spank aside from the curse, though you can do that with only a single healer anyway.

When you get to the birds, the tank doesn't need to stay in bear form; you can pop and R1 regrowth the Eagle and Hawk, and have everyone just fight on the eagle. With the hawk and the -500 damage up, the birds are a joke and die, though slower than if you had AOE.

Then when Anzu pops back up, kill him. The fight is designed so that a single druid of any spec can do it with their party, you just have to actually HOT the statues. Use Regrowth since it lasts longer than rejuv.

Took us three tries.

The first try the server glitched on the 2nd wave of birds, so we all watched the screen for 15 seconds or so then all died.

Second try the Shadow Priest took herself out by casting with the debuff, and we ran out of mana on 2nd wave

Third try, everybody did the right things and we took him down with all 5 of us up.

Tips:
Tank should hold thunderclap until the birds stop circling and start attacking. Then your mage can freeze and AoE without getting spell interrupted much.

Innervate comes in handy, even with a shadow priest!

I used these macros to keep the bird icons up (found them on wowwiki.com):

/cast Rejuvenation(Rank 1)

I just helped kill Anzu tonight for my druid quest. A guild group was kind enough to let me swap in to do it as they were doing a heroic SH run, as I came prepared for the encounter (read up on it, made the macros, brought healer gear).

The group was:
1 resto druid (healer)
1 warrior (tank)
2 mages
1 feral druid (me)

I had statue duty, and using the three macros was great, as it made it very easy. I would top off the tank with heals, and when the healer was cycloned, I had to hurry and take over on healing duty. Towards the end of the fight, I innervated the healer for good measure as she was low. Other than that, it was pretty smooth and fun!

Swift flight is freaking GREAT, and worth the trouble.

Easy got him on the first try. Just make sure the bird statues are going and you will be fine. The hardest part are the adds and if the statue that reduces damage is on it hits the tank for like 5. I got spell bombed once in the whole fight. Just don't cast. and cyclone doesnt happen very often at all. Just make sure when he does mass stun that there is suffcient heals on the tank or he will get his ass beat. other then that tank and spank.

Just did this fight, and it was cake. Group setup was below:

I didn't get spellbombed once, so maybe that was luck. I used the macros listed above to keep the statues up, Mages did a great job with the adds. I actually expected the fight to be harder, but we didnt have any problems. I didn't even have to use tranquility.

I did the run with about 1200+ healing. A little low, but I did just fine. Only had trouble keeping the tank up when he was fighting the guard pairs who are immune to CC. Just have good CC in your group and you'll do fine.

Killed him a few days ago. The advantage was our Party, 3 druids (1 feral = tank, 1 Moonkin, 1 Resto), Mage and hunter (me).
The fight was relatively easy for us because our healing druid could concentrate on healing our bear, while our Moonkin just stayed out of his form for the fight and did the "keep the birds hot-ed"-thing, while damaging now and then and also jump in healing.

Stayed in the summoning room, and killed the birds asap. Relatively easy fight for us.

One thing to mention is, that somehow i got the initial Aggro (I shot scorpid sting on him, don't know why this caused Aggro), and got charged and onehitted for something around 8k. So avoid getting Aggro during the begin of the fight, and hopefully this unpleasent thing won't happen for you ;)

I agree with KaranasSC, this questline, or more the reward, has been waited for, not just to be exploited, but to be earned.

btw, first Summon for this group, killed him first try, mount dropped, me got it ^_^

If you don't feel like exploiting to win...

The druid should keep the 500 damage reduction bird up most of the time, or maybe just none. We found the damage reduction helps with healer mana. When the adds come, switch over to the 300 damage dot bird. The dot will apply to all of the adds, killing them in roughly 15 seconds. Continue to DPS the boss through all of this.

He should be dead before the third wave of birds with a slow DPS group - before the second with fast. Not terribly hard, and definitely not worth cheating to beat.

Our party comp was a feral druid, warrior, holy priest, hunter, and ele shaman. As the feral I tanked the rest of the instance, but when it came to this guy i hearthed back to dredge up some healing gear and let the warrior tank.

Essentially, we kept him in the middle, and the 4 party members other than myself did the whole encounter themselves, with me putting up hots on the birds (lifebloom if i need it up fast, rank 1 regrowth to keep it there.) and doing the occasional off heal. The boss doesnt hit that hard or do anything difficult except when he summons the birds. If you dont have the eagle bird up for this you simply wont survive, end of story. If you do, they go down fast.

Falcon gives you attack speed, eagle does aoe damage, and hawk gives damage reduction.

I kept falcon and hawk up as much as i could throughout the entire fight, with eagle and hawk whenever birds appeared.

Its one of the most fun fights in the game, and anyone who exploits it is missing out big time. Its not that difficult once you know what to do, and half the fun of it was trying to figure out WHAT to do. And if you have Ikiss down you have a fast way in too, so its not like the run from the gy is all that long.

We've waited SO long for an epic questline... Why spoil it all up by cheating when you finally get to the end? Do it right and earn your flight form.

raven god - anzu strategy

did this with 2 ferals, a healadin, fire mage and (i think) destructo lock

dont bother with HoTs on the bird statues or dealing with the adds or any of that crap.

have your group pull him back out of the room where you summon him and into the previous room (the U shaped one with the high platform in the middle) and tank him there. you won't get the bird adds (they are summoned where u summoned him - in the previous room) and while he banishes himself you can heal up and get ready. also we had our mage stand on the high platform in the middle of the room and he kept getting targetted by anzu but not getting charged (he charges party member furthest from him)

he self-banishes around 70% and 30% hp and as long as u can make it to his 2nd banish with all party members up you should be fine.

think he has around 210k hp and it took us about 3-4 mins to get him. oh and i (feral) was in heal gear (around +1000 on heals) so only really had 2 dpsers on him. good luck, swift flight is frickin' awesome!

Edit: Oh and btw, you can no longer pull him into the previous room. He's not too bad, though. Before you pull him, cast a HoT on the hawk. When he goes banished, cast one on the falcon. Shouldn't have too much trouble.

Took him down with 2 feral druids, 2 resto ones and one rogue.

and yes we did stealth run and killed ikiss first so we could have hes room for the pulls.

After 2.1 Syth can see Stealth so u need to kill him as well.

This Boss, Cyclones and Charges random player and at 75% and 25% he goes Immune to all and calls lots of ads, adds only have 11k hp and need to be dealt fast before he comes out from immunity..

Easy Boss none the less^^ but we had 2 healers ^:D

The spirits in Anzu encounter: (You have to HoT them to activate the buffs.)
Falcon Spirit - Speed of the Falcon: Movement, range attack and cast speed increase by 25%.
Eagle Spirit - Spite of the Eagle: 300 damage to the boss with each healing tick. Lifebloom has 1 second ticks and Regrowth and Rejuvenation have 3 second ticks.
Hawk Spirit - Protection of the Hawk: Decrease damage taken by 500.
