No Rating Requirements to Purchase Arena Gear from Previous Season - Clarifications on Burning Crusade PvP Patch Notes

I’ve struck the words “and equip” from this note:

All PvP gear will have consistent personal rating requirements to purchase.

You don’t need to retain rating to equip an item, rating is only required to purchase it.I’ve also added the following PvP notes:

At least 50 games played are required to qualify for a seasonal reward.
There are no rating requirements to purchase Arena gear from a previous season.
Season 1 gladiator weapons that were added in patch 2.1 (Gladiator’s Gavel, Gladiator’s Salvation, and Gladiator’s Reprieve) will be available from the beginning of Season 1.
The commentator UI for wargames has been updated with a fresh new look.

This is correct. During Season 2, there will no longer be a rating requirement to purchase Season 1 gear.

Also don't forget some classes in tbc are not viable in arena and will never reach 2200 lol. Hope you don't pick that class.every Comment by KrohnutzIt isn't necessarily accurate to say TBC had no rating requirements, as they added them for weapons and shoulders. I don't know the new MMR system that well, as I only dabbled in arena in BfA and it felt like if you played games, you moved up at least slowly. The arena ratings in TBC were pretty punishing, as you would lose a match to a team in your rating range and it seemed like you lost 25 points and then if you beat that same team a game later you gained 5. So I don't necessarily have a problem with the MMR change, but I think it is a mistake to gate that many pieces of gear to people when resilience in TBC really, really matters (especially to healers).

I had minimal plans to do some arena again, but honestly, without dual spec'ing (hello Wrath) and the rating requirements on so much, I likely will move a different direction and focus on solely PvE this time around.

That is the worst case and it will happen.
Having pvp gear (with a pvp exclusive stat in tbc not like SL atm which doesnt have that) for all players available is the best that could happen.
But yes ppl playing meta or fotm comps always advocate for artifical rating gating.
People that want the rating requirements are one of the awefulst things to happen to wow.
You have zero loss if there is no rating requirement, but many ppl will have way more fun.
