The Wolfshead Helm can be a very powerful item when used right as a feral druid. And, when used in conjunction with the furor talent, can become even more useful. Although this item only requires level 40, many good feral druids keep it around into the 50's and even to 60.

When used with the Furor talent, this gives the user 60 energy upon shapeshift to catform or 15 rage in bearform. This gives a druid the opportunity to bash a target, shapshift to cat form and shred TWICE instead of just a single time. Furthermore, it gives the opportunity in bear form to both feral charge and then bash the target. Although this item is somewhat situational and with poor stats for feral standards, it can be one of the most useful helms in your inventory.

Has anyone else had this award More than 5 rage/20 energy, without Furor?

I have 0/0 Furor, and yet I generally get 7 or 10 rage when shifting to bear. 7 occurs more often, but sometimes I can shift to bear and demo roar immediately afterwards.. In the middle of town, with nothing hitting me.

If I manage to get 10 out of it, it usually starts off with 5, then bumps up to 10 a second later.

With cat, it awards 20 energy, and then the next energy tick is much faster than normal. So by the time the global cooldown from shifting is up, I have 40 energy.

In short, I'm loving this helm. :)

As we are nearing Classic's release, this item, because of its synergy with Furor from the first tier of the Restoration tree and Natural Shapeshifter from the second tier of Balance, may be Best in Slot for Feral druids.

While it hasn't yet been confirmed on live servers, the process of "power shifting", changing out of then back into Cat Form to gain energy when it is depleted to sustain DPS, is likely going to be a core element of the play style rather than waiting for the spent energy to regenerate. Think of it somewhat like Tiger's Fury, where in current gameplay it grants 60 energy. Thus making this helm extremely strong for that purpose as the energy gains are likely to outweigh any stats.

i use this instead of putting 5 points in furor. i'm lvl 58. i think its an alternative to furor? cause being able to charge right away is great for pvp. but i put the extra 5 points in feral instinct for better stealth. is that a ok idea. also i was thinking of getting libram of voracity to put 5 str on the helm since the stats are so crappy. just wondering if anyone thought about this too.

im a resto druid that switches it on when i need it. helps out alot because i have furor too which starts me out with more energy/rage. especially when you need a quick ravage out of the way.

When you transform into cat form, you start with 0 energy (unless you have talents in Furor, in which case you start with 40). Wearing this and going cat form gives you an additional 20 energy, so you can start attacking straight away

This is one of two things you learn after completing the Tribal Leatherworking quest, the other being the Feathered Breastplate.

This helm is INCREDIBLY USEFUL and while 20 energy and 5 rage isn't much, it's a whole lot more than starting with nothing. This helm is staying with me until 60 just because of that.

Saw a level 51 feral druid ganker (my faction, not ganking me) and asked him why he didn't have the wolfshead helm and he said that it was garbage lul

Confirmed as of 6/3/21: You CAN learn this pattern in TBC Classic currently as any specialty of leatherworker. I just learned while specced into Dragonscale. Alliance learns it in Feralas, Horde must go to the trainer in STV.

Wolfshead Helm is a Leather Helm crafted by Leatherworkers with a 225 skill level.

Although this is a low level helm, this continues to be the only viable Helm option for Feral Druids wishing to DPS in both Classic WoW and Burning Crusade Classic. Powershifting is a very important aspect of a Feral Druid's DPS rotation, as it supplies massive amounts of Energy to a spec that is usually very Energy-limited, and this Helm adds extra Energy for the Powershift rotation.
