The design for this gem (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32295) is dropped by any of the five bosses (Rage Winterchill, Anetheron, Kaz'rogal, Azgalor, and Archimonde) in the raid zone Hyjal Summit. It is the epic version of Mystic Dawnstone (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=24053)

The gem, Lionseye (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=32229,) is attained by trash mobs in Black Temple.

am I think only one that thinks the epic gems are not worth the trouble to get? I mean, if you fall upon one, yeah definitely use it, but why would anyone actually seek them out? The upgraded stats of epic gems aren't nearly enough to offset the price or trouble to get. IE:

Green Strength Gem: +06 Strength, cost = 1 gold (ish)
Blue Strength Gem: +08 Strength, cost = 50 gold (ish)
Epic Strength Gem: +10 Strength, cost = 500 gold (ish)

The difference between the price and/or difficulty to obtain is completely unproportional. Blue gems might be worth it, but epic gems couldn't possibly be worth it, unless of course you have about 50-100 thousand gold sitting in your bags. The biggest possible difference depends on how many sockets you have, but lets assume you have 2 sockets for each item for a total of 26 sockets (which isn't even possible AFAIK). If you use Epics over Greens you gain 104 strength, which is definitely a lot, but to get that, you'd have to sacrifice socket bonuses, and all other stats possibilities, AND you'd have to spend about 13,000 - 26,000 gold to get them. Or if you pick up the gems and get them cut, you'd spend countless hours, and days even to get them all. And if it's against blue gems, it's more worthless. Assuming the same situation, you'd have 52 extra strength, and of course, the same amount of trouble to get the gems. Putting all things into consideration, it's not worth it, especially since new expansion packs are going to be coming out once a year or so, with gems that will be cheaper/easier to get, and better.

(It's important for me to note that I used strength gems as a comparison because there are no green res gems)

It's nice how best pvp-gems can only be acquired from doing endgame pve.

If your gm's will actually be giving out these for non pve gear...then you're lucky

To those complaining about having to do "sucky pve" for pvp stuff try having the best PvE weapons in the game come from 1850 arena rating in PvP......deal with it

ok dont quote me on this but this gem can be used in PVE, its great for tanking casters, to become immune to spell crit. maybe there is an encounter like maulgar in BT or hyjal. or maybe sunwell. I have not done any of these instances so i do not no. but maybe u will see an encounter like that.
