Best Leveling Professions for Protection Paladin Tank in TBC Classic

Enchanting provides exclusive enchants for rings such as . Since Paladin Tanks will generally grind their way through several dungeons during leveling, it is pretty easy to start building up a stockpile of Enchanting materials from disenchanting unwanted greens and blues dropped by mobs and bosses, making the process of leveling Enchanting much more affordable.

Engineering provides Stamina-heavy trinkets, such as Goblin Rocket Launcher, as well as powerful consumables, like Super Sapper Charge and Mana Potion Injector. In later phases, it also provides access to powerful goggles, such as Tankatronic Goggles.

Best Leveling Consumables for Protection Paladin Tank in TBC Classic

Flask of Supreme Power: Significantly increases threat generation. This is particularly useful if having to hold aggro against T3-geared players in dungeons.

Major Mana Potion/Super Mana Potion: Reduces downtime from drinking between pulls, allowing your group to clear dungeons much faster since the Tanks tend to be the one setting the group's pace. For those reading this during pre-patch, it is highly recommended to stockpile 500+ Major Mana Potion.

Greater Stoneshield Potion: While not necessary for dungeon leveling, it is highly recommended for Tanks to stockpile these potions in preparation for tanking Heroic dungeons and Karazhan, as Ironshield Potion will be in short supply for the first few weeks of TBC.

Greater Arcane Elixir: Increases threat generation.

Mageblood Elixir: Increases passive mana regen, reducing downtime between pulls.

Nightfin Soup: Increases passive mana regen, reducing downtime between pulls.

Leveling Tips for Protection Paladin Tank in TBC Classic

Whether open world or dungeon leveling, mana management is key. When dungeon leveling, consider bringing classes that boost your overall mana or mana regeneration, such as Shadow Priests, Shamans, Balance Druids, and Mages.

When dungeon leveling, if you have strong threat on your targets, consider whether you really need to cast more abilities. Having mana for the next pull is more important (will save more time) than doing slightly more damage but needing to drink between pulls.

if you find yourself unable to dungeon level, it is highly recommended to level as Retribution in the open world, as Protection's single-target damage and mana management are very inefficient.

60-70: For leveling from 60-70 strictly through dungeon grinding, the following set of dungeons is recommended:

60-62: Hellfire Ramparts + The Blood Furnace. Be careful with the landmines dropped by Shadowmoon Technician in Blood Furnace!

62-66: The Slave Pens (best exp rate) + Mana-Tombs + The Underbog.

66-69: Sethekk Halls - You can also get Libram of the Eternal Rest from here!

69-70: The Shattered Halls + The Steamvault.

Easiest way to level a pally is to level like a frost mage in classic. Spec Prot and find mobs that are mellee. group up mobs judge seal of wisdom on mob and buff seal of wisdom.
Use blessing of sanctuary as the buff.
keep righteous fury up ( it reduces damage taken as long as you put points in it).
Keep holy shield up all the time
consecrate
ret or devo aura work fine if your healing to much you need to stop for mana a lot more so try both see what you like

Target mobs 1-2 levels below you and the hardly hit for anything. start with 2 mobs then keep pulling more. I find 7 is about perfect but gear makes a big difference.

Do dungeons to get the loot you need to AoE more mobs

rep-grinding is the same for most of the rep this class is the easiest to grind. even easier if your human.

As an added bonus pallys get a 20% ridding bonus to mounts making farming ore an herbs a lot faster.

The talent build here is very solid, definitely one of the best I've seen on the site. I tend to talent things a little differently, but I want to be clear that this build is fine as-is; I just have different goals. Reckoning isn't great for threat generation; it gives you more weapon swings, but weapon swings aren't where most of your threat comes from. I like Stoicism and Spell Warding (as you say in the guide, spell damage hits tanks harder). Stuns are awful, and you can't bubble out of them because then you immediately drop your threat. Better to not get stunned in the first place. On Pursuit of Justice, keep in mind that Righteous Defense is a ranged, inverse taunt (at 40 yards!), so chasing down party members is less of a concern for paladins--and if they're more than 40 yards away and need help, they're generally going to die regardless. I'm happy to move the three points into Ardent Defender as a nice way of improving survivability when you need the most help.

This is an *awful* build. Not having Ardent Defender means that you don't have damage reduction when it's most critical (especially if you're taking a lot of spell damage). I have healed several tanks without Ardent Defender and they are just far harder, more stressful, and less fun to heal than they need to be. They're squishy when their lives are most at risk and you definitely don't want that. Why would you skip such a large mitigation talent?

Pursuit of Justice causes the tank to speed ahead of the healer. Especially as a priest, I have *no* speed boosts available to me whatsoever. Nothing. Other healers have skills they can use to catch up, though they're all on cooldowns (and maybe expensive, like a druid shifting to cat form only to use dash and then shifting and back to tree), but priests have *nothing*.

Please don't recommend a build that leaves you squishy at critical moments (like when tanking phase 3 of Prince). Please don't recommend a build that causes your tank to outrun your healer. I don't want to be blamed for failing to heal a tank who is missing key mitigation talents or who I just can't keep up with.

The guide says from 1-70 but mostly just show items and abilities lvl60+, how come?
Also would be nice to see what order to take talents in. Personally I like flexing around the order I want it, but many people probably dont know what to take when.

Not a leveling guide. Doesn't tell which talents to get on which level, doesn't show how to level 1-60, only 60-70.

Not a leveling guide ... terrible. Only 60-70... TBC is completely different, you can't just reference a classic guide for 1-60 and then switch to this. Also ... isn't protection amazing for aoe farming, as well as dungeon? This says that all you can do is tank dungeons. Can't you pull like entire maps while you level? That seems pretty strong... This guide blows, please update it (and the other guides, which suffer from the same issues).
