I tried taming a Dark Screecher when I was in a group with 2 others in BRD. The only Dark Screecher I know of in BRD is the one that comes out in the arena when you enter the room (4 types of beasts can come, and one of them is a bat).

First time I tried the warrior had most of the aggro, and I tried picking out a bat, but when I clicked "tame bat", it didn't work. I lost the mana, but it didn't start taming. Second time I figured I have to be the first one to have its attention, so I lay out a freeze trap, and started taming one of the spiders (this time a bat didn't come, but I just wanted to try). Problem is that the warrior couln't get all the others off me, so I lost health very fast, and the pally tried healing me at the very end of the taming process (allmost had him). When he healed me, the taming got interrupted. Is this normal?

So still haven't figured out how to do this...

You find this bat at the Ring of Law. It is only one of the 4 types of beasts that come out of the first gate. There will be atleast 4-5 bats at one time so it will be hard enough to get one when there are alot of them on you wacking at your armor when you have no armor from the taming the pet ability. Just remember if you want to get this pet ask a 70 to help you CC the others while you Freeze your target and tame it...

I have never seen bats in BRD. Can anybody tell me if this is an error?

This is not an error. They come from the Arena event instead of worms.

these are part of the arena event...and dear lord they are the hardest part of the arena, there are about 8-10 bats all with an AoE silence, so its a pretty hard fight to aoe down, and if you manage to kill them, its not likely you will heal up in time for the boss

I too have gotten a pack of bats in the arena event, and 3 of em had evil bat eyes.
