According to Altruis the Sufferer, Varedis was one of five warriors sent to Illidan by Kael'thas to be trained as demon hunters - the first time that blood elves were allowed to do so. Illidan put the blood elves through excruciating trials that would have defeated most fully trained demon hunters. Three of the blood elves died during the training, and a fourth was driven to insanity. Varedis was the only one to succeed.
Varedis turned out to be something of a prodigy; not only had he succeeded in his training, but he was displaying better command of his powers than many veteran demon hunters. Illidan saw the great potential in him and assigned three master demon hunters to train him further. Within a year, Varedis had surpassed them. Still seeking more, Varedis infiltrated the Shadow Council and learned of the Book of Fel Names, a tome said to contain the true name of every demon in existence. By memorizing the pages of the book, Varedis gained a source of power rivaling Illidan's consumption of the Skull of Gul'dan.
When Varedis returned to the Black Temple, Illidan placed him in charge of training additional demon hunters at the Ruins of Karabor.

He's extremely difficult to 2 man. Getting him to half-health causes him to Metamorphasize, gaining power, however, if you have the Book of Fel Names for a quest-You can weaken him during Metamorphasis.

If you're bored you can kite this guy into Shattrath City, where he'll be pratically invincible due to no one having the book of fel names.

2 manned today by af/sl warlock and holy pala, close call cus of respawns and him mana burning.

I kited him into shattrath yesterday. He killed some player's and guards with his ability Flame Wave, and it is cool to see A'dal in combat :)

I just watched this guy kited to shatt we got him to 49% then he turned into a demon and became almost invincible.

This guy ended up in Shat with a buff on him that made him immune to all damage, and look like illidian in demon form. We tank and spanked him for at least 10 minutes before the buff wore off, and when he did, he went down in a afew seconds.
Still... what the %^&*?
Does he usually do that?
Who could be bothered kiting him to Shat?

I tried to solo him, big mistake, At first he started hitting me for 800's so i used evasion, he did a curse of flames which i CoSed straight away and got lucky as he did a flame wave straight after then my evasion wore off and he hit me for 2k 3 times and did some magic thing and i died, he was at 75%.

Immune to stun and hits hard =)
