This is one of the bosses in Cavern Of Time:Hyjal Summit
Namely there are 5 bosses in the instance ,
Rage Winterchill
My guess is that this boss requires shadow or frost resist cause based on WC3 it is a lich tinted with purple red colour..also it's spells consist of shadow and frost element
Anetheron
A dreadlord boss..no idea on it's elements and so but it's gona be a tough fight
Kaz'rogal
A doomguard boss...my guess is fire and shadow resist
Azgalor
Pit Lord boss..i heard he drops his glaive ..."Spite" Might be as tough as Magtheridon..since hes now the king of pitlords
Archimonde
Last boss of Hyjal Summit..how knows about him..well good luck to whoever is fighting him

Archimonde is the last boss in the raid instance, Hyjal Summit.
Archimonde has around 4.5 million Health Points.
Soul Charge - All damage taken increased by 50%. Non-dispellable.
Might of the Defiler - Smashed into the ground for 6000 fire damage, and 3000 every second for 10 seconds.
Grip of the Legion - 250,000 damage over 5 mins.
Finger of Death - 20,000 shadow damage on a single target. Archimonde will begin casting this if nobody is in melee range.
Doomfire - Leaves a trail of fire on the ground, which does 2400 fire damage per second (occasionally feared people run into these and die)
Also, says;
<When Aggo'd.>: Tremble mortals, and despair! Doom has come to this world!
Your resistance is insignificant.
This world will burn!
Manach sheek-thrish!
A-kreesh!
Your soul will languish for eternity.
<When killed.> No, it cannot be! Nooo!

his health is more like 4,5 million
Soul Charge - When a player dies he gains 1 out of 3 soul charge buffs (depending on class it seems). He can unleash those on the raid. 1 out of 3 debuffs will hit you:
1. 4500 damage and silence for 4 sec
2. 4500 damage dealt over 8 seconds and 2250 drained over 8 seconds
3. 4500 damage dealth and 50% more damage taken for 4 seconds.
Grip of the Legion - 250,000 damage over 5 mins. Decursable
Finger of Death - 20,000 shadow damage on a single target. Archimonde will begin casting this if nobody is in melee range.
Doomfire - Leaves a trail of fire on the ground, which does 2400 fire damage per second (occasionally feared people run into these and die) If you run out of the fire the debuff will not fade, it will stay on for 45 seconds.
Aoe fear. 1,5 seconds casttime, large range (60 - 80 yards not sure, can't outrange it at least if you wan't to be part of the fight).
Air Burst: deals 3k initial damage and knocks you straight up in the sky. You will need to use the "Tears of the Goddess" to not fall to your death.
Fun fight, but very very very random and unforgiving.

The tree you are stopping Archimonde from destroying is "The World Tree" (The tree was grown from an acorn of the Mother Tree G'Hanir by the great dragon Alexstrasza in the waters of the newly reborn Well of Eternity on Mount Hyjal. ) which was originally saved by Malfurion Stormrage* who sounded the Horn of Cenarius, awakening the Ancestral Spirits( just as Archimonde where about to absorb Nordrassil's powers), an army of Wisp-like beings with ten times the power of a normal one. Thousands of them detonate on impact with the Defiler, incinerating him, along with the World Tree and the surrounding forests.
Medivh laid to rest any fears, confirming that, while "the roots will heal, in time, as will the entire world," Archimonde was gone forever.
* Illidans Stormrages twin brother and the first druid.

The Doomfire IS resistible, but it is a binary resist. You won't resist part of it, but either the whole thing or nothing. A number of our raid members have gotten resists from the fire with nothing but a FR Aura from a Paladin.

hmm he has little hp compared to other end game bosses,he must do a whole bunch of dmg....

He hits like a cement truck. As far as "a whole bunch of damage", not really. It's just the combination of fears / doomfires that will eventually kill someone. Then he'll soul charge and it will either chain more soul charges or silence everyone and your tank will die.
The fight is very, very unforgiving. One person dies and you've got a 50/50 shot of living.
Couple notes: The doomfire takes a second or two to actually give you the DoT. Rogues can cloak it/you can bubble or iceblock it. Running into the water near the tree also removes the DoT, but it will silence you for 30 seconds so should only be used in emergencies. If you're going to wipe, die in the doomfire. You take no durability loss from dying this way.
Purification pots(
https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=13462
) may come in handy for this fight too. Often times he will use air burst on someone and then grip them immediately after.(though this is subject to fixing in patch 2.2 I believe, so it will be no longer relevant.)
The key to this fight is mobility and individual execution. This is not a DPS race or a burn down. Don't get caught in doomfires, don't fall to your death. And don't be surprised when this fight takes you 100 tries to succeed.

I don't know if this is changed or whether it ever worked, but I can confirm that running into the water does NOT remove the DOT from Doomfire. If your raid is properly positioned, you should be nowhere near the water in any event. Purification potions, although they don't work every time, are a very nice 'oh crap' to have as a last resort, usually if you get the Grip right before being feared a long way away from your decurser.

When he gets down to 10% health, Archimonde resumes channeling the big green spell on the World Tree and starts casting Hand of Death. However, Tyrande Whisperwind applies a debuff to the entire raid making them all immune to all damage and healing. Warlocks are immune to the mana gain from lifetap, while druids cannot shapeshift. It would be a shame to get him to 10% and not get the kill because of these surprises.

Strangest thing happened on our Archimonde kill tonight.
I accidentally died by not clicking the tears soon enough after an airburst with Archimonde at about 13%. Everyone got the debuff and it ended up killing about half the raid. Still, they were able to get him down to 10%.
He runs off, everyone becomes invulnerable and everyone starts DPSing him. It looked like we were going to make it, even with half the raid dead, but at 4% with time still left on the clock until he 1-shots all of us, he just suddenly up and dies.
Everyone saw it, too, it wasn't just me. I've no idea what caused him to die at 4%, but there it is. Oh well. He still dropped loot so I guess that's all that matters.

Archimonde, for a time, was the leader of The Burning Legion. He was summoned by Kel'Thuzad to start the second invasion. He destroyed the mage city of Dalaran using demonic magic and sand. He drew in the sand on the ground a map of Dalaran then it rose up, into a model of the city. He then crushed the sand towers in his fists and the real towers followed suit.

Instantly stomp on the nearest target, killing them, and crushing them into oblivion.
Do you see how big this guy's hooves are?
It would work, and you'd get pwned every time...
Still Blizzard had to made him killable somehow, or WC3 would've just been a joke.

Archimonde in the First War:
After the Night Elven Highborne mages had opened a portal, Hakkar, the Houndmaster came through the portal, along with two Felhounds. He began to oversee the creation and stablilizing of the portal. He, ultimately failed, and Sargeras sent Mannoroth through the portal. Mannoroth created a shield around the portal, causing all mages to be cut off from the Well of Eternity. During the non-Highborne Night Evlen attempts at destorying the legion, Malfurion Stormrage destroyed the shield spell of the portal, and the portal itself.
Afterwards, Sargeras sent Archimonde, second in command of the Burning Legion, to oversee the recreation of the portal, so Sargeras could eventually come through portal.

Archimonde is, without a doubt, one of the hardest bosses in TBC. He is arguably the trickiest and most unforgiving. In fact, I've heard that the average amount of wipes needed to down Archimonde is somewhere around 70, an incredibly large number for one single encounter. Even though the wipes occur very fast most of the time, resulting in actually not a lot of wasted time, our guild saved a lot of wipes (actually making a horde side record for our server) by running attempts "dry." This means that we do NOT dps at all in all of our attempts until we can be sure that everyone survives at least 5 minutes of the encounter. The necessity to run such dps-less attempts should be clearer to you as I present to you his strategy below.
Necessary equipment:
-Medallion or Insignia of the Horde/Alliance on all of your healers and most if not all of your raid, excluding your main tank.
-Tears of the Goddess in the inventory of EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the raid. The item should be on everyone's hot bars and bounded to an easy-to-access key. Get it from Tyrande Whisperwind in the Night Elf camp, and make sure that it at least has 20 minutes left on it (disappears every 2 hours). Whenever a wipe occurs, everyone in the raid should check if the tear is still in his/her inventory.
Suggested Raid Makeup:
-Melee: bring a lot of melee, they shine in this encounter.
-Shamans: Try to aim for at least one shaman a group if you're having trouble with his fear fearing people into fires.
-Decursers: There should be at least one decurser in every group.
-Healers: A normal amount of healers should suffice (7-8), however, make sure at least one healer is in each group.
Boss Abilities:
-Finger of Death: Instantly deals 20,000 damage to a single target. This ability is cast only when Archimonde has no melee in range to attack. You shouldn't have to worry about this ability if nothing majorly faulty happens.
-Hand of Death: Instantly deals 99,999 damage to everyone. This shouldn't be a problem if you keep him on solid ground away from the well. This is also his enrage ability (10 minutes timer).
-Melee: He hits fairly hard for around 7-8k on a fully geared tank. Since he swings with his fists he hits fairly fast too. While he cannot crit, the swing timer reset with a parry could burst your tank down really fast. Make sure there're at least two healers on your main tank at all times, if not all of your healers.
-Air Burst: He randomly targets a person and casts this on him/her. The person, as well as everyone within 13 yards of him, will get thrown very very high into the air (along with ~3k damage). If the person lands without levitate / slowfall, it is a 100% guaranteed death. However, the required item Tears of the Goddess will enable the player to slow fall for ~3 seconds. After the 3 seconds the person again falls. To prevent Air Burst from killing people, have them activate the Tear just seconds before they land. Remember it is always better to take a bit of fall damage due to clicking the Tear earlier than dying to lag due to clicking the Tear late.
-Grip of the Legion: A curse that he randomly casts on players that deals 2500 damage every 2 seconds for 5 MINUTES. Have decursers decurse this immediately.
-Doomfire: These are trails of fire that follow a specific person, leaving flames that tick for ~2.5k every second if stepped upon. Once a person gets hit with the fire, he/she will also get a debuff that ticks for ~2.5k initially then less with every tick for ~40 seconds. The doomfires travel fairly fast and will twist and turn from switching targets. GET AWAY from them as soon as possible and stay far away from them. Only 3 of these will be up at any given time but they're really long, so it is very possible for a group of people to get trapped by the fire. Prevent this as best as you can by running in straight lines, leaving the fire to go straight most of the time.
-Fear: A 1 second cast fear that fears the raid for 5 seconds every 30 seconds. Every healer should have the PvP trinket on and every healer should be on a rotation. 2 Healers should use their trinkets to keep healing the tank every single fear. Keep fear ward on your main tank (or he can stance dance). Due to this fear + fires, every person should stay as far away from doomfires as possible. They should also use their trinkets if they're going to be feared into a fire.
-Soul Charges: The raid wiper and what makes this encounter so tricky. Once a person dies (to anything), Archimonde will gain a soul charge. He can unleash this charge at any given time with 3 varieties. If the soul charge is from a hunter, shaman, or druid, the raid will be dealt 4.5k damage over 8 seconds. If the soul charge is from a warrior, rogue, or paladin, the raid will be dealt ~5k physical damage and any damage received after that will be increased by 50% for 8 seconds. If the soul charge is from a mage, warlock, or priest, everyone will be dealt around ~4k magic damage and be silenced for ~5 seconds. All of these AoE effects have a knockdown effect, and if anyone is killed by the Soul Charge, Archimonde will again acquire their soul. Pretty much if anyone dies, he'll soul charge the raid and kill one or two more, then soul charge again and again until the raid dies. It is possible to completely survive one soul charge, especially the DoT, but this ability usually means that if anyone dies, the fight is over.
Positioning: Try to tank Archimonde in the middle of the open area. Split your raid into 5 groups: melee, East, West, North, and South group. The melee should stay in melee range, and the other 4 ranged groups should spread out as a cross around him, standing on one another and max ranging Archimonde.
Overall Strat: If you have a healer and a decurser in every group (a shaman too if possible), each group will be one unit that could survive on their own. If a group gets Air Bursted, they have a healer to top them off and a decurser to remove the Grip. If a group gets feared, they have a shaman to Tremor Totem them out of it. If they need to run away from fire, the whole group runs away together. This way you greatly increase the chance of survival as opposed to everyone running around doing their own business. Keep a trinket rotation on the healers to make sure the main tank gets topped off. The melee should spread out behind him to avoid air bursting the main tank when they get targeted. However, they should be at a distance where when the doomfire spawns they can immediately move away from them.
You raid's success really is in the hand of everyone. Bring your most situationally-aware raiders, and realize that this fight is in no way a DPS fight but a survival one. Practice using the Tears jumping off the cliffs by the Elven Village. Practice running out of fires / decursing by not dps'ing in attempts. Use the trinkets to avoid extra damage that healers have to heal through, and just be ready to move constantly. Make sure you're always near a decurser to avoid the Grip from killing you.
If you manage to down Archimonde to 10% hp, he'll run away and start Hand of Death'ing the raid. However, the elves will put a shield on everyone that avoids all damage done. All healing effects and buffs will not work (along with life tap) at this point, and all you have to do is DPS him down. I'm not sure if he automatically gets killed by the wisps even if you don't dps him, but this last 10% is in

Unfortunately, Blizzard seems to be requiring players to PvP in order to participate in PvE combat now, as the only item in the game that breaks fears is the PvP trinket. I certainly hope that Blizzard plans to introduce some other items in the game that do what the trinket does if they continue this trend.

DO NOT underestimate the intensity of this fight! He sounds easy on paper however, unless everyone in the raid kows exactly what they are doing, it is a wipe. The fires he shoots out snake in all kinds of different directions. The damage isn't too hard to heal through, but whith the healers healing the tank and disspelling, it is very vital that you try and stay at close to full health at all times. You also shouldn't stand close to trees if you can avoid them. Landing in a tree after air burst happens more often than you would think. One death usually wipes the raid due to the debuffs that you get that cause chain kills and more debuffs etc. If it looks like a wipe, die to the fire. It costs 16s or so to repair rather than 2g. Last but not least, the thing that seems to be the hardest part of the fight is that people do not realize that THIS IS NOT A DPS BATTLE! You have plenty of time. Worry more about staying alive. One last suggestion is to run a dry run where noone touches him and just try to stay alive for 10 mins to get used to it.

As of 2.4.2 his doomfires can now path randomly, ramping up the difficulty of the fight hugely, it's also now possible for air bursts to be targetted on the maintank.
The fires change has increased the difficulty of this fight an exorbitant amount, with melee previously dominating the fight, it's a lot harder for them to avoid fires now.
from 2.4.2 patchnotes
Raids & Dungeons
Hyjal Summit - Archimonde (Possibly bugged)
* Fire will now spawn -much- closer to Archimonde, and the pathing is entirely random.
* Fire can target and chase Melee. Never possible pre 2.4.2.
* Archimonde's hit box size has been increased
* MT's are now able to be targetted by Air Burst

Archimonde gained some significant buffs in 2.4.2 some of which are unintended. Regardless a few days ago blizzard fixed Archimonde in some ways however he is still harder than before.
We just implemented a hotfix for all realms that makes Archimonde's doomfires no longer be able to move right through him after they spawn. Their movement should now be much more consistent with the previous patch's behavior, and melee should have a bit easier time dodging the doomfires as a result of the change. There have been other reports of odd behavior in the encounter since the 2.4.2 patch, but this is the only problem we've been able to verify locally. We'll continue to monitor reports of unusual behavior in this encounter, and investigate further as needed.

This fight is absolutely about everybody staying alive. Our guild has only downed him a few times, but every time save one, every member was alive at the end of the fight. The one time this wasn't true was when an unlucky shadowpriest got toasted when Archimonde was at about 17%, and we were able to save it. Nearly every time someone dies in the middle of the fight, it ends up causing chain-deaths and wiping the raid.

Level: ? Elite (Boss)
Type: Demon
HP: 5,700,000
Yeaaaahhhh...Umm lets look at there ability's!
Archimonde
Might of the Defiler - Smashed into the ground for 6000 fire damage, and 3000 every second for 10 seconds.
Grip of the Legion - 250,000 damage over 5 mins. .
Finger of Death - 20,000 shadow damage on a single target. Archimonde will begin casting this if nobody is in melee range.
Soul Charge - All damage taken increased by 50%. Non-dispellable.
Doomfire - Leaves a trail of fire on the ground, which does 2400 fire damage per second (occasionally feared people run into these and die)
Illidan
Shear: Reduces the maximum HP of the target by 5%. Stacks 19 times. Noted by jumping away and diving back towards the target.
Flame Crash: Illidan leaps into the air and returns suddenly igniting the ground beneath him, staying out of the fire is vital.
Soul Drain; Illidan sucks the soul from a raid member, causing high damage and healing him for 100,000hp.
So Which is Harder? O_O

Bliz would come up with some kind of paradox so that Arthas lives somehow, like with Kel'thuzad, Archimonde still technically dies from the wisps in past Hyjal so that part of Lore stays the same, Illidan dies from Maiev's hand which I could imagine happening since Bliz screwed him saying he went insane after Arthas beat him.

Okay here is the story on the Burning Legion as a whole:
Sargeras was a titan chosen by the elite titans(Pantheon) to rid the worlds of demons. Eventually Sargeras basically went insane from encountering countless demons and gradually suffering their corruption and went bad. In his adventure of doom :D, he found a advanced society of humanoids called Eredar. Now he was recruiting demons for a mass army to destroy everything now and, was impressed by the Eredar so he made an offer to the three leaders of the Eredar: Archimonde, Kil'Jaeden, and Velen. He told them he would give them untold power if they joined his Burning Crusade. So Archimonde and Kil'jaeden agreed, HOWEVER, Velen did not. Velen gathered the eredar that believed in his motives and left Argus, their home planet. They called themselves draenei, in their language, Exiled Ones. Sargeras gave the power to Archimonde, Kil'Jaeden and the other Eredar and the Eredar turned to demons. Archimonde and Kil'jaeden became Sargeras's top lieutenants.
Now about the Lich King having power over them the idiot that said that is a NOOB! The Lich King was basically created by Kil'jaeden.
Here is the story on that:
As you know the orcs cheifs agreed to aid the Burning Legion by destroying Azeroth since Medivh (who had been possessed by Sargeras) offered that he would open Dark Portal if they destroyed Azeroth and the demons corrupted them.
HOLD ON INTERRUPTING THE STORY MUST SAY SOMETHING BOUT SARGERAS.
Hes dead.
The Guardian Aegwynn killed him. Although his spirit bonded with her unborn son, Medivh.
OKAY BACK TO THE STORY.
So blah blah blah blah the First War happened then the Second War etc etc etc. Now after the Dark portal is closed! Ner'zhul, the elder shaman knew that since they failed to destroy Azeroth, the Burning Legion would be pissed. So he sent the orcs to Azeroth to get Artifacts that would let him open new portals to other worlds to escape the burning legion's wrath. So the orcs did that, but the Humans chased them through the Dark Portal and the big battle etc etc Ner'zhul escapes with some orcs through one of his porals and...
KABLAJAM!
Draenor blows up most of the world is destroyed, all that remains is what is now known as Outland.
Now Ner'zhul's plan didnt work so well, Kil'jaeden caught him anyways, and tortured him etc etc and turns him into the Lich King! Yay! Kil'jaeden sends the Lich King to azeroth to prepare Archimonde's invasion of the world.
And thats it.....oh yeah, the Lich king broke free of Kil'Jaeden when Archimonde and half of the Burning Legion was wiped out in the Battle of Mount Hyjal and his jailors, the Nathrezim (also known as Dreadlords) were killed by Arthas.
Hoped that educated a few of you :D

"archimonde the defiler" one of most powerfull hero in warcraft lore. hes an eredar (warlock btw). left hand of GOD sargeras (other one is kil'jeaden). he destroyed dalaran. if u play w3 or read wowwwiki u'll be see what illidan did to kil'jaeden (ran away to outlands like a chicken). archimonde = kil'jaeden.
illidan is a wanker. yes he looks cool with his twin blades of azzinoth (prolly thats why he got a lot fan). hes nothing w/o his nagas (lady vash), blood elves (kael'theas) and stupid dreaneies (akama). again, if u play w3 or read wowwiki u'll be see how he lied to all his followers. he didnt get them to help him with his POWER. he lied at all. he wake up nagas for their help. he knew about blood elves how hungry to magic. he lied to kael "i'll give u magic etc.." then he lied (freedom to draneies) and helped to akama to beat magtheridon. when they beat magth illidan just killed every drenei in shadowmoon and made BT as his EQ (watch blizz's the black temple movie).
i know my english sucks but u should understand :D

When i first looked at this, i thought "WTF.. you can't kill archimonde..", but then i realized how the fight actually goes.
Even though the Infinite Dragonflight isn't in the battle, they were secretly tampering with the outcome. The dragonflight apparently altered the timeline to cause the wisps summoned by malfurion to come too late.
The fight starts with archimonde beggining to drain the world tree. So you need to stop him or else he'l destroy it without anything to stop him. After he is "defeated", the wisps swarm around him and destroy him just like they did in wc3.

Archimonde Dies cause MalFurion Nuked the World Tree With wisps Lol (just like the post above said),
even tho it look like it in the end of WC3: TFT, Illidan doesnt die, kael heals him with magic.
If u didnt know Sageras "Technically" gave Illidan his Powers because Illidan found "The Eye of Sageras" From Sageras's Tomb which Gul'dan rose from the sea.
Accually... Theres 2 reason Illidan is "The Betrayer" Since He Betrayed both The NE and The Burning Legion (Kil'Jeadan).
And Archimonde Destroyed Dalaran by Building a Sand Castle (with his demon magic) ^^ :P and destroying it.
Anyways Archimonde Would Rape Illidan, even tho im a Illidan Fan lol xP

Seriously... Have you played the Warcraft III The Reign of Chaos without cheats..? You don't seem to know anything about it atleast some of you. First, Illidan, with a new plan spurred into his mind, journeyed to Zin-Azshari. There he feigned allegiance to Azshara and Mannoroth. Illidan's plan was to obtain the Demon Soul, an artifact of great power created by Deathwing, which had the ability to close the portal which was allowing the demons to enter Kalimdor. However to put this plan in action, Illidan had to gain more power.
So, Illidan was taken to Sargeras, the Destroyer of Worlds. Sargeras "gifted" Illidan by gouging his eyes out of his head, and replacing then with orbs of mystical fire, which let him to see all arcane powers in the world...
BUT that's not the way he gained his demonic powers... After the Burning Legion invasion had started and Tyrande Whisperwind had set Illidan free to fight amongst them against the Legion, Illidan was ordered to seize the demonic portal from spawning more demons in the Azeroth.
He knew he could not destroy Tichondrius, (the greatest Burning Legion dreadlord agents) but he took the mission and set up the base camp near the portal. When he was fully settled and started fightning the demons and satyrs, he suddenly met the now-corrupted Dead Knight Arthas, who told him that the demons were protecting a powerful artifact called The Skull of Gul'dan. (or was it Guldan..?) Anyway.
He didn't trust the Death Knight, but he had to convince himself, and so he ventured to the mountain where Skull of Gul'dan was held by mindles

Yeah continuing the story :P
by mindles pawns of the Legion. Illidan quickly destroyed all the demons guarding the Skull and consumed its powers and adding them to his. He became
a Demon Night Elf. Then he killed Tichondrius with ease and seized the portal. But when Furion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind arrived to the spot, they saw that Illidan was corrupted by the powerful demonic magics of the Skull of Gul'dan (Just as you know, Gul'dan was a powerful orc warlock) and then Furion banished Illidan away from his home and beloved ones.

Malfurion Stormrage has been trapped inside the Emerald Dream now for some time, and has reported in scarce visions to Remulos that there is a great, dark evil trying to consume the realm. Malfurion has remained there to combat the spreading malicious force, and it is whispered in hush tones and chilling reverence that the contagion is actually Archimonde. Some say that the demon had managed to use the power he gained from Nordrassil to leave his physical body and transport himself into the Emerald Dream.
Whether Archimonde is the cause for the Dream's slow decay remains to be seen. However, it is more likely that the Old Gods are the ones responsible for this disruption, as this slow corruption is far more their style than Archimonde's.

ILLIDAN VS ARCHIMONDE
Archimonde won with 70% HP, Pretty much Pwn't Illidan due to his immunity to Shear...Took the most damage during Illidan's Demon Form...Illidan got screwed the moment Archimonde moved so doomfire came out...
Warcraft 3
ILLIDAN VS ARCHIMONDE
No Contest, Finger of Death obliderated Illidan...
Warcraft 3
KIL'JAEDEN VS ARCHIMONDE
This I looked VERY VERY Forward too...Archimonde won because Kil'jaeden had no stats to make him All super powerfullish...He was basically just a model...

At this point we need to ask ourselves,"Who really cares what Archimonde or our friend Mr. Stormrage did in WarCraft 1, 2, or 3?" If I'm playing WoW and my character is being roasted alive by Archimonde's numerous fire AoE attacks and such, the last thing I should care about (to some extent), is how Archimonde lost to Chuck Norris in an arm-wrestling contest or how he saw Illidan naked in the shower. It's all a bunch of stuff blizzard made up so they could put a 10-story-tall-pinkish-purple-octopus-man-hybrid on top of a mountain and nobody would question why. It's good to know why a 10-story-tall-pinkish-purple-octopus-man-hybrid is trying to murder you, but is it really going to help you in the game?
Whoa. Sorry about that. I just kind of got carried away. I stick by my statements in the previous paragraph (regardless of how little sense it may make). My point leads to the following:
Soon, we will be able to kill Archimonde or Illidan, and they will drop some honest-to-god kick-ass gear.

Archionde
Type: Demon, Eredar
Level ? (Boss)
Health: 4,700,000
Location: Caverns of Time, Hyjal Summit
<Burning Legion Leader>
Spells:
Might of the Defiler: 6,000 damage to a single target, 3,000 damage every second for 10 seconds. Total damage: 36,000
DPS: 600
Type: Curse
Finger of death: 20,000 shadow damage to a single target.
DPS:
When it starts: When Archimonde has noone in melee, he starts zapping players with his finger.
Type: Shadow damage.
DPS: About roughly 2,100.
Grip of the Legion: 250,000 damage over 5 minuntes.
DPS: 833.33
Type: Curse
Soul Charge: Increases damage taken by 50%. If Archimonde hits you for 5,300, that means he will hit for 2,650 more with the curse on you, hitting for 7,950 damage.
Type: Magic
Dispellable: No
Doomfire: Leaves a trail of fire doing 2,400 damage per second. Feared players run in these fires and die.
DPS: Something like 240.
Illidan
<The Betrayer>
Level ? (Boss)
Type: Demon
Location: Black Temple, Outland
Health: 5,700,000
Spells:
Shear: Reduces targeted players' health by 5%. Lasts 19 stacks. Approximate health reduced with 19 stacks: 95%. If you have 10,000 health, then with all shear on you will have a frail 105 health left.
Type: Melee, stack
Flame Crash: Leaps into the air, crashes down, and makes a flame when he lands. Stay out.
Soul Drain: Illidan sucks the target's soul, giving him back 100,000 health as possible. Put on full DPS to take the 100,000 health away and continue normal DPS.
Archimonde is harder. His armor is godly, divine, check WC3.
Illidan has more health, he is the endgame boss. He is weaker, though.
Imagine Arthas...
Let me see... I'll just guess the spells and such. ^^
Arthas
<The Lich King>
Location: The Frozen Throne, Northrend
Type: Death Knight, former human prince, now Lich King.
Health: (Maybe) 12,000,000
Spells: (Maybe this will be them)
Death Coil: Hits targeted player for 40,000 shadow damage. Uses this when players are doing no DPS for 5 seconds or more.
Type: Shadow
Cast time: Maybe 4 seconds
DPS: Maybe 910.
Animate Dead: Ressurects all undead units around him. The undead units have damage reduced by 95%, speed by 50% and last for 60 seconds. Have 150% more health.
Frostfire: Freezes the target. The fire in the player will expand, dealing 5,000 damage every 0.50 seconds for 2 seconds.
Type: Magic, Frost/Fire
DPS: 400
Unholy Aura: Uses at 50%. Regenerates all damage done to him into health. Cast a spell or hit him every 5 seconds or so, because he will use Death Coil Volley. (See below).
Death Coil Volley: Hits all players for 50% of their health and drains 7,000 mana, also stunning for 4 seconds. Arthas will be stunned and out of combat for 10 seconds, not regenrating health, while the party members can drink and get ready for the rest of the fight.
DPS: 50% of players' health.
Wrath of Ner'Zhul: Deals 50,000 damage to main tank. Usable twice if aggro is not high enough.
DPS: Roughly 1,000.
Wrath of the Lich King: Kills targeted player. Any player close to the corpse loses 25% health and 50% mana per 2 seconds. Stay away.
Call of Frostmourne: Frostmourne goes into one of the icicles and makes them fall all around the area. Bring the sword to 50% and it will split, giving Arthas two weapons for 20 seconds. The falling icicles do 1,000 damage and 4,000 frost damage over 5 seconds.
Bloodthirst: Enrages. Uses at 10%. Each player he kills then restores 5,000 health, gives him 1% more damage and health, increases all his stats by 2%, and gives him 50% faster cast time, along as 50% more likely to attack the raid healers.
Also, makes him more likely to cause Death Coil. Lasts 50 seconds. Non-dispellable.
Type: Magic
The End. Those are the endgame bosses. I guesses Arthas's statistics, so let's see. I'll preview some weapons of Arthas later on this same thing. Let me think. ^^
I'm smart, eh? :D

People face the fact. Archimonde is an Eredar who recieved untold power from the dark titan Sargeras, the destroyer of worlds. Illidan gained power from the skull of Gul'dan, everyone who knows a little about the lore will know that Gul'dan was an aprentice of Kil'Jaeden, so in theory Archimonde is stronger than Illidan, because Archimonde is a fragment of the titans power while Illidan is a fragment of Kil'jaedens power. Do not tend to forget that Gul'Dan was killed by the dark titans shade in the tomb of Sargeras, so if a mere shade of Sargeras power can kill a being in Gul'dans power, there is no telling what a fragment of his power can do.. Well there is a proof what a "fragment" of his power can do. The eye of Sargeras. An artifact that can creative a massive earthquake anywhere. Illidan made an attempt to get rid of the Lich King in a cowardly way, which failed.
Now many of you see Archimondes death to be a little pathetic because it was whisp who killed him. Yea lvl 1 mere "weak" whisp. But you tend to overlook the fact that even tho these whisp are easily killed, they hold ancient powers and mysteries yet untold. By the artifact, Horn of Cenarius they were summon to rise up against this burning shadow, and so did nature herself rise up against the evil. My dear friends, Archimonde was not destroyed by mere whisp, but by an ancient power.
You also tend to forget that Illidan has a certain fear of the Eredar. In the Frozen Throne he is running from Kil'Jaeden which is just as powerful as Archimonde, if not stronger. When they finally confront Illidan comes up with plenty of pathetic excuses to let Kil'Jaeden spare him. Frankly Kil'Jaeden was foolish enough to give him a last chance.
The fact is that Archimonde is stronger than Illidan, lorewise ofc. I never raided those 2 guys so i cant tell which one of these two are the hardest. But if it were a competition of which one were the coolest i would say Illidan, mostly because of his unique fightingstyle.
As for Arthas, I dont believe he can "own" Archimonde nor Kil'Jaeden, because the soul of Ner'zhul aka Lich King is a creation of Kil'jaeden. So far the Lich Kings powers are the same, just that he has a body now.

In my opinion the best strategy is to get a resto druid to tank him. All they have to do is pop tree form then Archimonde will be so seduced that you can just kill him while he stands there doing nothing.

Just to add to what Vorkaz said earlier about why Illidan is called "The Betrayer". It's not only because he betrayed the Burning Legion and the Nelves, but if you remember, he betrayed his brother, Malfurion, by reverting to his demonic form, after pledging loyalty to Demon-hunting.
After Tyrande released him from his prison by subduing Maiev Shadowsong, he went into the forest to help fight against the Burning Legion, met Arthas, who told him about the Skull of Gul'dan (Drop from Illidan) that was responsible for corrupting the forest. He fights his way to the skull, then is overcome with desire for power, takes it and is transformed into a demon. (Sprouts horns, wings, etc.) Then, with his newfound power, kills Tichondrius, then is banished by Malfurion.
Quote from the pre-mission cintematic: "I'll show my brother that the demons have no hold over me" and then later when he sees the skull, "Yes. The power SHOULD be mine."
Just a bit of info from WC3

The Lich King would have a great chance of killing Achimonde, even if you take the level diffrence out. First off when Arthas fought Illidan he was at his weakest, the power which substained him (Ner'zul's) where almost all gone, he was literally starting to fall apart, yet he still trumped Illidan in a one on one, so that means Arthas at lets say 20%-25% is stronger than Illidan at 100%.
Also if you think about all the new lore changes (beings able to give the power to control Light, or being able to enslave elements, etc) then that means the combined Arthas and Ner'zul are going to be almost unstopable, Arthas was a Paladin in life and a Deathknight in death, Ner'zul was a orc warrior who became a shaman, who when corrupted became a warlock, and who in eternal death became a lich. The sheer amount of knowledge of spells and abilities the Lich King has now is overwhelming. On top of all that the time spent in the frozen throne amplified a warlocks already potent physic abilities to god like levels, he can drive creatures mad anywhere on Azeroth, and at close range can actually exert powerful telekinesis abilities (as seen and experienced first hand by Kel'thuzad), he also has the ability to read minds, AND on top of all that has outsmarted Kil'Jaden at least once (and the Deceiver has brought down dozens of worlds with his plans).
So The new Lich King, can theoretically control (granted he enslaves a Naaru and a few elementals, which can and has been done, numerous times) Light, Shadow, Fire, Frost, and Nature. Arcane is the only school of magic we dont know if he knows, but almost 15 years later it would be childs play to absorb the knowledge of a mage or two, and on top of all that he is a very skilled hand to hand fighter.
There isn't a doubt in my mind that even the combined forces of Illidan and Archimonde would have a hell of a time brining him down (in a lore sense anyway).

We beat Archie already but he's still getting on my nerves every week, and makes me question my guild's intelligence. This fight makes it very easy to point whoever caused the wipe.
I don't get why this fight has to be so hard for everyone (including my team). I don't consider myself an exceptional player, and I often die of stupid mistakes. But on Archimonde, dying means a wipe. So I don't die.
I drink pots, healthstones, shield myself and do everything to not f**ing die. I've never caused a first soul charge and it drives me nuts seeing the same people on my group causing 3 soul charges a night.
Archie's abilities don't 1-shot people, they're mostly DOTs. You have AMPLE time to do something about that health you lost or about to lose. So do something about it.
If you're a retridin, stop the pewpew and heal self till you go OOM if that's necessary. Same goes for shadowpriests. Leave shadowform if that's what keeps you alive for 5 more sec till a healer gets to you. Enh shamans, heal self.
Stop caring so much about your DPS and start watching your health bar instead.

I would love to bring my WoW accolades to my boss and demand a raise based on the time I spent pounding bosses into the ground... To which he would scream for an hour, Burst a few blood vessels in his neck, and finish it off with the greatest of final words: "You're Fired!"
Blizz promotes a game. A game that is most likely not going to get you jack squat in life, unless you are the 1% who simply cannot do any wrong in the game. Buying a house in the current market on a variable arm makes more sense than wasting your life knowing all about WoW; the prior scenario of which is simply financial suicide.
I suppose you could turn out to be one of those bums on the street talking to himself about how godly you WERE, and about how nobody could beat you in a GAME.
It's all about having fun... that's it, just fun. enjoy the freaking game and get on with your lives kids because it doesn't get any easier... Trust me.
I wish they made a game out of Property that was more real life like, (not Monopoly) and how to get rich... Then maybe you could actually get somewhere in life. You know, financial freedom? lol...

for all you who didnt sign up to this bandwagon named WoW BEFORE MC was ever cleared have no *!@#ing idea how things were back then. to even consider raiding MC you had to have a devoted guild with at the very least 40 members lv 60 and available to raid wenever. realisticly you would need 50 sixties in a guild kuz damned life is unpredictable. Blizz has ruined WoW, welfare epix are retardedly easy to get. spend maybe 20hrs getting honor for a full set thats pretty well equal to most karazhan gear witch in itself is stupidly easy to get(10 man raids for phat epix? LOL) Its used to be that 10 man raid would give you decent blues that would be REQUIRED to even think about getting epix like BRS (for all you retards thats blackrock spire) ,and BRS took many early raiding guilds quite a long time to fully clear (think leroy jenkins). Once you got those godforsaken blues you could attempt raiding MC with relative success. and even then it would take you a week or so to down the first boss and once you did that you could try the second one but it was pretty useless cuz the 2nd boss was a fair amount harder and required your tanks to be in atleast half epix and maybe 150 fire resistense unbuffed.
on a seperate note pvp epix pre BC wer rediculously hard to get (maybe not The Unstoppable force)youd have to get atleast 3k kills a week to get your title of HWL (best pvper on server when all ques cept AV were at te very least 30 mins long). and that might even take you months to finnally get. so for all you newcomers who are whining about how elite raiding guilds are getting all teh phatepix and pwning ur sorry asses in BGs just keep in mind that it all used to be a *!@#load harder to first of all get into a half-assed raiding guild that could get you maybe an epic every 2 weeks ( bosses used ta drop like maybe 3 items at best for a 40manned raid) and PvP was more of a hobby than a feesable way to get geared.
Gratz BLizz you have ruined your game by makin it more for the five yr old saying "WOOTZ I GOTZ TEH GLADIATORS PLATE SHOULDAS! YAY I GOTS TEH PHATEPIX!"
and then that lil tyke going onto killing one of the most famous of all warcraft characters and get the best weps in the game instead of the guy that work the seat of his pants off to get his t1 epic shoudlers.

You guys have no idea what you're talking about. And moreover you have no rights in any regard whatsoever to think that your opinion matters. If you think Blizzard is butchering their own game, story and timeline for money, good for you. No one cares. Especially not Blizzard. If you want to complain about something go over to the Star Craft 2 forums and @#$%^ about Korea's first claim. But since we're here...
There are a few things you have to understand about World of Warcraft. Things which are heavily implied, perhaps, but it seems that backhanded implication is lost on you. First and foremost, before we even get into the part where we submerse ourselves into the fantasy element of this game, you should recall that it IS a game. A program. Fundamentally it is a set of scripts that run without deviation with an infinitesimally limited degree of player interactivity. Like the Diablo series, World of Warcraft is not a particularly tactical experience. You click buttons and use skill trees. Huzzah and hurray.
Getting into these instances you seem to have so much trouble with, how historically accurate is it to be able to right click on the swirling vortex and reset a dungeon crawl, do you think? Or, say you wander up to Kael'thas's hut and start kicking his %^&* over, do you think he's gonna sit up in his room like a ^&*!@ and take it? What about the patrols who casually step over the corpses of their comrades or pass by the empty guard posts without batting an eye? very realistic. You are playing a game. The point of contention you seem to have is in how you play this game.
OK so you want big special events. OMG Illidan has been introduced to the game. ZOM%^&*INGJESUSALLAH it's Archimonde in a pocket historical event. Tell me something; how many of you whining pissants are Scarab Riders? how many of you joined after the AQ invasions on your servers? How many of you missed the small window wherein they opened the gates for the first time? You like #$%^ like that, where you will never ever ever have a chance to participate on the same level as the people who got there first? And what about people joining today, or real life people who can't spend 40% of their lives working on fine tuning a fantasy character? How many new joiners do you think will ever get to see the story involved in AQ-40? Will Blizzard relaunch it, and maybe Naxx on real ultimate #$%^& mode so that people who have other things to do might get to see the cool !@#$ that's all locked up in the otherwise useless Silithus? Perhaps, just maybe it is a progressive step for them to consider making their game playable to groups of people who aren't all L.70 Megasmashers with the Ultimate Doombringer's Pants and Arthas's Codpiece. Conceivably, the parents who played the old Warcraft games and now spend their lives spoonfeeding broodlings who will grow up to be forum tards might want to take a crack at Illidan, who was so intriguing and inspiring back when all they had to worry about was who was going to bring the chips to the LAN party.
You know. The 90% of WoW's population who can't be Real Ultimate Powers.
It's all well and good for you to be envious of the swat teams who have set up in the World of Warcraft universe. I suppose it is understandable for you to be angry that on opening night of a Dungeon launch, Nihilum walked up, knocked the gates in and rushed Kael's throne room with a federally ordered warrant. After all, you didn't have a Beta training ground to familiarize yourself with the maps. You didn't have practice time to sit there working out every fine detail of "How to be the perfect Healadin." YOU don't have a sponsor. Maybe you should L2PLAY and stop being a #$%^& forumtrolling noob and see if you can't get Nikey to put a swoosh on your boots. The bleak reality is this; Warcraft is part of a community. A large community. not Blizzard's community but that of gamers at large. A new breed of technicians and specialists in an entertainment forum that is growing beyond the scope of all other entertainment forums. Unlike Radio, Movies, Television and Sports, anyone can play a video game. Just like those things, some people will have more resources to begin with and some people will be more talented than others. This is something you have to deal with and shut the !@#$ up. As long as there are people willing to pay someone to be badass, someone will be badass. I'm not just talking about MacDonalds putting golden arches on your tabard. I mean things like game tournaments like the one in Korea for Star Craft 2. Or the big rallies where people bring their gaming decks from all over the continent for a shot at the big prize. (which could be as low as 5k, but the glorious credit with the faceless masses of gamer fanboys is eternal.) Hell look at E3. it got so outrageous they had to cut it down. We're coming up on year 1 of E3-lite. This ^&*! is HUGE.
Putting all that aside this is a forum post about Archimonde. I know about Archimonde. An Eredar archdemon. First Lieutenant to Lord Sargeras the mad titan, who tried to force his way through the Well of Eternith when the Mad Queen Azsharra had the Highborne summon him into the world. Herald of the Second Burning Legion.
In Warcraft 3 I whupped his ass three ways backwards and bent him over the god damned barrel. He respawned. I whupped him again, and he respawned. Eventually because it was a scripted event, Malfurion let him do his little poledance routine on Nordrassil and the accumulated wisps of the eternal Nightelf Nations exploded all up his @#$%ing nose. If you wanna know what happened to him, you can see right here.

Obviously things went well for him. But the point is, Historically, what happened with Archimonde is as it has always been; up to the ^&*!ing player. The details of the glorious battle up the slopes of Mount Hyjal is your responsibility. You played it the first time. You made the scene. YOU did the damage. Even assuming that you completely &*!@ that !@#$ up in the POCKET HISTORY OF THE CAVERNS OF TIME, you have an entire flight of Dragons who are the imperical equivalent of a censorship board watching that @#$% going "No, that's not quite how it happened." All your complaining and whining is absolutely without merit because in the end, it was all just a dream.
You're playing a video game kids. Grow up and recognize that. Start making your own adventures and stop being spiteful towards the fine folks of Nihilum who have the good sense to be better at it than you.

Dude that messege is by far the greatest thing i've read to all those whinny morons out there. Im gonna copy that quote and paste it every time some crazed fanboy goes off screaming like a baby about how easy it is to kill Archimonde or something.
In addition to what Veloura said,I also whooped archimondes ass in Warcraft 3 over and over again 'till he asploded. So shut it you whinning zealots of warcraft. Im half expecting you to start screaming Jihad or something.
