If you look carefully you will see that his pvp isn't enabled. This is why you can't attack him.

I checked Wowhead databse for a guy named Varian Wrynn <King of Stormwind>

I went there 20 mins ago and i fount out that the king was indeed removed. I only fount https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=16072 . Don't go there. There is nothing anymore exept of https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=15553 .

yeah u cant attack him i was there whit a friends level 70 rouge (horde) and stealthed and tryed a back stab but i didn't work and i was almost killed cuz of that hehe =)

the king isnt on alcaz island anymore they removed him i went there and saw nothing

This guy is the reason the horde hate us. We get a freaking child as our leader, and the horde have this awesome warchief and leader of races Thrall. Someone should assassinate this kid so we can have a real leader.

This kid isn't actually the stormwind faction leader. if you look around him you should see Highlord Bolvar Fordragon (https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/npc=1748) who is given 'leader' staus. Stormwind is led by him. Not by anduin.

There's quite a lot of lore in the game surrounding his capture.

The missing diplomat quest chain is the first hint.
Another chain which seems to follows on from this chain in terms of lore begins in dustwallow with a disturbing development, leading on to Jaina Must Know and finishing with Return to Jaina.

The first chain lets us know that some important diplomat has been kidnapped, and that the defias are involved. It turns out the king is missing. The next chain shows us that the defias have been in dustwallow, and have captured an important prisoner. It also tells us that person is captured on Alcaz island.

We also find out that someone high up in the ranks in stormwind is working against the alliance. This is of course talking about Lady Katrana Prestor, who happens to be onyxia in disguise. There maybe more lore relating to this that I have not yet come across, but it at least hopefully explains why the king is in a cage on alcaz island :)

EDIT: This post was initially in response to a comment which has since been removed. You are quite correct Shelireih, however in it's initial context this post made sense. If my hazy memory serves me right, I believe there was no page for Varian at the time, so a lot of discussion on him was on his son's page instead.

According to the current in-game quests and the Warcraft comic series, Varian Wrynn, escapes from the Defias during transport from Alcaz Island. He winds up on the shore of Durotar in an amnesiac state and is captured and entered into the Dire Maul gladiator tournament. Not knowing his own name, he is given the title Lo'Gosh (a legendary white wolf). After winning the tournament and a number of other adventures he rediscovers his identity and is attempting to return to Stormwind to reclaim his title and be reunited with his son.

Currently the rumor is that the Missing Diplomat quest line will be completed when the comic series reaches it's conclusion.

Varian Wyrnn is no longer in Alcaz Island, he was removed in patch 1.9 and replaced by an elite naga on patch 1.10, do not wast your time trying to find him because he will not be there.

He is still in the MPQ files though so he still may be added in the future as the same model.

There are multiple reasons why he may not show up here.

Although he is the official ruler of SW, it is Bolavar who is the real ruler till boy king gets older.

thats why you get the honor for killing bolavar and not kiddy.

Hes a bit strange, I mean, hes dad is captured by nagas, the woman next to him is Onyxia, Highlord Bolvar Fordragon sounds like being a dragonslayer and hes standing next to the black dragonflight queen.

Hes family was never normal.

He's next to impossible to kill, i snuck in and tried to backstab when it said 'you cannot attack that target' and i got pwned by his two bosses

I do remember seeing the real king of SW in alcaz island pre bc and noticed they took him out of the game, anyone know where he went and remember his name? cause i surly forgot over the past months/year

well, its been a while since the lil boys father been taken out of game, pre bc i went with my 43 paly, envually got toalcaz and did find king, but dr. weavil can hit hard, i found out he was for scepter of shifting sands quest, hehehe, if any1 does it 2 kill time, watch out hehehe.

1. Enter Ironforge.

2. Take Deeprin Tram.

3. Kill random Stormwind civilian.

4. Hearth out.

The players in SW get a "Stormwind is under attack!" message, and they spend a large chunk of time looking for a Horde that isn't there.

Muahahaha.

Well, after a little while of looking at the whole story of his father being alive and stuff, his dad Varian Wrynn Was in a cell that required you to swim through i looking for Varian Wrynn and i saw a pic of him spawned on a private server and below his name IS king of stormwind.... he was removed from the cell before TBC was released and hes level 60 not elite... oh and i also found out the instance in the canals with port cullis around was originally going to be a player housing 'estate' you could get a house there was going to small level 1 and large level one small level 2 large level 2 and the same for three then went to guild halls and the guild halls look like the stone entrance to SI:7 in stormwind and the interior also looks like SI:7 interior. go here for a picture of Varian Wrynn spawned on a server:

many things, but ill cut the chase, if you try and atk the king, he gets a big ass shield out and u cant atk him, he'll be invulnerable. And to the person who said that there arent alot of ? bosses\... theyre r they r just spread out... The bishop isnt a fun kill, and Highlord Bolovar is almost impossible to kill, where you could solo Thrall,the warchief.

Unfortunately, since he is a child, even if he is the "temporary" king, he cannot be killed...
Blizzard is strongly against killing children, so you will never see a flagged child.

unless they make an easter egg where its a boss child with 20 million hp lol

the king is still on the island you go to the end of a hall and swim down forward then up easy and you can kill children or at lest ppl who look like them i got trancformed into 1 and a rogue 1 hit me i was lvl 1 first though

I'm on the hellscream server and went exploring through barrens once and killed this mill worker guy then his daughter came out and sed somet in orcish i tried to kill her but u just cant kill kids on this game-who would want to anyway?
As proof u cannot kill kids on most officially tested games eg Grand Theft Auto and The Simpsons hit & run!

One thing looks really funny on private servers.
(If you'r GM you can kill anything then i mean ANYTHING)
So if you kill kids they just stand and does nothing so you can loot them ^^

I belive to kill him you have to kill his bodyguard and possibly the chick walking around him. Or so i've heard for a friend from uldum server he says a group of rouges dispatched all of the surrounding guards and fisished the kid off 1 hit

Like all kids in the game, he is unattackable. Don't know why, I guess its to prevent acusations of child abuse.

I've heard rumors that this kid IS attackable after killing Katrana and Bolvar, but I've never been able to confirm it.
