My guild just downed netherspite last night, as a hunter pets really dont do anything in raid instances except sometimes help you pull or die. I used a wind serpent last night on netherspite for the hell of it i sent him in and pulled him out during banish phase he was never hit the whole fight as well as doing about 20k dmg so i suggest using one if your a hunter.

Great site with alot of info on it.
I'd copy and paste it myself, but the info is too large.

Netherspite is an unusual fight because it is far less class- or stats- dependant than most. It does require coordination, though. It's all about standing in the line of three colored beams that shoot out of portals and hit Netherspite. The beams give special buffs, but also debuffs, and these stack and stack over time. This means you need to set up a rotation. It's all about good, organised teamwork.. even more than most WoW raid bosses.(##RESPBREAK##)2056##DELIM##adashiel##DELIM##

Soon his room will have a door and we'll be forced to play with him in there. Right now this is nigh on impossible, it's possible but is very, very hard. Someone needs to help the situation!

One of the most fun boss fights in WoW - requires real co-ordination and teamwork. I haven't had as much fun fighting a boss since Chromaggus as a rogue.

Got at least 1 change in 2.1: Serenity beam does not refill your mana after it wears off, however it refills your mana when you first get it.
Also a note Perseverance: It acts as a taunt, permanently increasing your threat level. Last night KTM showed me well over 190k threat when a shaman walked into the beam. I couldn't get over the 10% threat hump to get aggro back before his eventual death.

His AOE doesn't just target 4 people, we had at least 8 guys get hit at one time.

We downed Netherspite for our first time last week. There isnt alot of strats that are updated for 2.1 so i thought i would post what we did.
Tanking the Beams:
1. Red Beam: 2 tanks for the red beam, one for each portal phase. If the tank stays in the beam for 10 stacks of the buff then moves out, lets the beam hit Spite for 5 stacks, then moves back into the beam. He should only reach about 30 stacks of the buff by the time the breath phase starts, allowing a tank to tank for the whole portal phase. (dont worry about stacking to many of the debuffs on Spite, they fall off within seconds.)
2. Blue Beam: 4 Dps classes for the Blue beam. Rotate 2 per portal phase, switch after 30 stacks of the buff.
3. Grean Beam: 1 rogue and 1 tank (thats currently sitting out on the red beam). Since these classes dont have mana they dont have to care about the buff/debuff of the beam so one can soak it for the whole phase.
Portal Phase... Tank him close to the Door (bout 20 - 30 feet right in front of it.) And soak the beams as stated above.. healers watch your tank and whoever is soaking the blue beam.
Breath Phase... As soon as you see in your chat log that he has switched phases into the breath phase, yell out on vent to get everyone to double book it to the other side of the room with thier backs against the wall. (this is a must, people wont want to do it at first.. make them) while they are there they should bandage up and regen mana. No dps is on the boss during the breath phase.
leave one tank and one priest behind during the breath phase (not standing too close to each other) to soak his breaths, if you even get any. Let the tank who started tanking Spite at the beggining stay ... he will hopefully have the most aggro (esp if continues to rock the aggro while hes saoking the green beam) when Spite pops out of breath phase, keeping him from running all over the room.
rinse and repeat. good luck.. we got him down after our 4th try doing this on our first night of attempts.

Downed yesterday first time! Heres how we did it:
Our group considering of:
2 Druidtanks
1 Restodruid
1 Lock
1 Mage
2 Holypriests
1 Rogue
1 Shaman
1 Hunter
The tanks were both druids.
The first tank took the red beam till about 3/4 in , then the shaman took the last bit.
The green beam was taken by the first priest (me) , healing the whole raid. The other 2 healers did some DPS.
The blue beam had the rogue standin in it, with the mage taking over halfway thru.
During first banish phase, everyone spread evenly around him and the breaths just hit 2 ppl max. Never killed
one of us. The 2 healers that didnt get the green beam at first healed everyone thru it ez.
Next portalphase the other tank took the red, the other priest the green and the warlock the blue. The hunter took the last bit of red.
Then basicly the same thing over n over.
Hardest fight for us in Kara, but i got my pants :)

As of 2.1.2:
Netherspite is NOT stationary during his banish phase, chasing around and meleeing players as he sees fit. He aggros according to threat WITHOUT THE RED BEAM during this phase, so your casters will be first to be targeted. He can Netherbreath/melee for excess of 17k damage, which is a one-shot for most classes.
This presents a problem for most groups, unless your high-aggro DPS can dump/drop aggro before the banish phase, your DPS is going to be chewed through. Good tanks can float atop the aggro list, but not easily.

Done Sat night with 2 healers(priest, pally), 3 tanks (prot warrior, arms warrior, feral druid), 5 dps(lock, 2 mages, hunter, rogue).
Not that hard of a fight. The first few times were wipes just to get co-ordinated, and then we let loose on the 4th try.
Healers stayed in for the entire green portal, 3 tanks on red portal switching out due to the 90 second exhaustion - prot stay in as long as possible, arms in for remainder of portal, druid takes next portal, stay in as long as possible, prot jumps in, and repeated in that order. We also had arms warrior in tanking gear, so that helped.
Very easy if priest takes 1st & 3rd portal. PoM, renews, flash heals on blue & red, renews on all in raid in the last few seconds before portal closes. As well, re-renew everyone in the last few seconds after portal closes & while you still have the buff.
You need to make sure both healers have 10k+ mana pool, and you'll be fine.. i was down to 300 mana (or so) with debuff, and when debuff wore off, I immediately used a mana pot and shadowfiend, and 2 mins later used another pot. Pally was about 25% mana when leaving portal just using flashes, and I went back into portal with about 50% mana & finished the healing.
For dps, our rotation was 1st portal: mage, rogue, 2nd portal: lock, mage.
Few quick notes:
Only difficulty we had was the 1st person who took the blue portal each round was targeted by Netherspite each time the portals went down. Heavy heals were needed on that person.
Warlock in blue portal is very handy, just get them to life drain & they either won't need any heals, or very minimal heals.

Our strategy:
Class makeup:
2 Priests (1 Shadow, 1 Holy)
1 Paladin (Holy)
2 Hunters (1 BM, 1 MM)
1 Warlock (Affliction)
3 Warriors (2 Prot, 1 Fury)
1 Mage (Fire)
MT engages Netherspite, once portals are up, warlock takes blue for the entire phase, MT takes red until 30 stacks, then OT takes red, a warrior takes blue. Once Banish phase begins everybody DPS's Netherspite. Once portals are back up, the shadow priest takes blue, fury warrior takes red, then alternates with the MT, and the other warrior takes blue. Rinse and repeat, simple fight, requires some coordination though.

Netherspite's Netherbreath is a forward cone attack that has a larger radius at people who are further away and less radius if you are closer. So when banish phase came we had people move in close and all melee. Aggro resets after banish phase so we have a hunter misdirect to the person taking the red beam as soon as he comes out of banish phase.

Red:
Warrior and a druid tanking
Green:
A rogue and a dps warrior
Blue:
Shadow priest and myself, Affliction warlock
I took 50+ stacks of the blue beam no problem.
Be careful while in the blue beam of the void zones. With high stacks of the beam. The void zone can be deadly if not immediatly moved out of

I am surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet.
Only two tanks are required for Netherspite, one for each portal phase. Furthermore, the red beam tank does NOT require healing if they continue to move in and out of the beam.
Basically the tank soaks the red beam for 10 stacks, and then runs out for a few ticks. If they continue to run in and out of the red beam for the duration of the portal phase, the beam will heal the tank to full life each time they run back into it. With experience, you can juggle running in and out to not have more than 30 stacks on yourself by the end of the portal phase, therefore not going below your normal health or requiring a second tank for that portal phase.
Then the second tank repeats this strategy for the next portal phase. Then everyone resets to their original positions for the third (i.e. first) portal phase.
This strategy allows the healers to focus on keeping the rest of the raid topped off instead of worrying about the tanks and makes the fight much easier.
One more note, if the raid keeps whoever was tanking Netherspite in melee range during the banish phase it makes the transitions much easier and Netherspite will not run amok attacking casters.

We just took him down last week. Once we figured out what to do, it was C-A-K-E.
We had a pally tank, a bear tank, a hunter and a drainlock taking the red beam or blue beam alternatively, swapping the rogues out between greens, and kept the healers out of the damn beams.
on banish phase, all the casters stuck close together by the wall. All the melee hammered at his front. When he casts netherbreath, HE WONT TURN AROUND. simply run through and continue DPSing. It went from a 5% due to a missed green beam the attempt before to downing him in 5 minutes. :P The encounter is free loot if you know what you're doing.

This fight is incredibly fun as a shadow priest. We usually have one person take one portal for the entire portal phase, so with a shadow priest taking the blue beam for an entire phase, the damage put out is incredible. It should be noted that a person taking these beam for the entire phase needs healed after each tick of the damage aura, however, as by the end of the portal phase you'll easily be able to be killed by two ticks. A shadow priest running VE will be able to keep one group up from the AoE damage without any problems whatsoever - I generally top both damage and effective healing in this fight because of it.
Just be sure not to cast SWD in the blue beam.

I see that people try to use portals in ways other than they are meant to be.
Red (tanking) portal:
2 tanks (1 for each phase). Each tank will stay in red beam for a few seconds and then let the beam hit Netherspite a few seconds by going in and out. Don't stay out more than 5-6 seconds or you cannot enter again for the next 2 minutes. Other tank will keep this strategy in the next phase...
Blue (caster dps) portal:
2 caster dps' (1 for each phase). Each one will stay in blue beam for the whole phase and simply nuke the hell out of boss. Other player will keep this strategy in the next phase...
Green (healing) portal:
2 healers (1 for each phase). Each one will stay in the green beam for the whole phase and ONLY healing the player in the BLUE portal while other healer fixes the raid (with no problem). Same strategy with a rotation between healers in the next phase...
The simplest boss fight ever IF you use the portals as they should be used.

I tank the blue beam for a whole phase as an enhancement shaman, I am seeing 15k windfuries. The key to this is hitting Shamanistic Rage (30% reduction to all incoming damage) about half way through the phase.

It's perfectly possible to hold the blue beam for an entire phase if you're a warlock, just keep spamming life drain - just like pvp isn't it?
As a DPS warrior I found myself shouting into vent to the extent where my neighbors must have thought I was being brutally murdered because the person that had to take over my blue beam didn't have his headphones on. Sheer joy. I managed to survive for some obscure reason - as long as you have high enough stamina and some dedicated healers, you don't have to be a warlock. Shifting out of berserker stance helps for obvious reasons.

Just to let every rogue and warrior know, the green beam WILL give you an endless supply of rage or energy. Regardless if your bar says you have none of either, you can still use your skills. As a rogue, I always top the dps chart because I take the green beam for a whole phase while constantly being spammed with energy. I literally sinister strike every second (global CD) for the entire portal phase. And our warrior tank hops in it second, pops recklessness, and spams whirlwind/heroic.
Needless to say, Netherspite dies in about 2min 30 seconds. I'm not sure if this a glitch or is intended, but it works!
Note.(We are only T4 geared, so don't think its our gear.)

Did him guild first tonight. 3rd try and he was down. Without question the most fun fight in Kara :)
2 Druid tanks, 2 pally healers, 1 Druid healer, 2 hunters, 1 mage, 1 Shadowpriest and 1 Rogue (me)
We had the 2 tanks alternating on the red beam, the first one standing in it for the whole duration, and then the next tank taking it the 2nd time.
The green beam was tanked by the Rogue for the whole first duration, and for the 1st tank on the second duration.
The blue beam was tanked by the Shadowpriest first duration, and the Rogue untill 30 tick second duration, letting the mage take the rest of the duration. Rinse repeat.
As long as noone panics its really an easy fight. When banish phase starts, every1 stops all dps and runs to the walls, leaving him alone in the middle. As long as everyone is far enough away from him noone is hit by his cone attack, making the fight even easier :)

It appears that there is a general misconception about how the green beam works. Most people seem to think that the green beam will eliminate a healer's mana. This is not true for any healer with over 10k mana pool (easily obtained with raid buffs and/or consumables). Any healer with 10k mana will not go out of mana for the duration of the buff. What the debuff does is reduces the healer's MAXIMUM mana by 200 per tick (10k when it reaches the maximum of 50 stacks), and not the mana they currently have available, which will usually outpace any healing you can do. Furthermore, they will receive a healing buff up to 250% and mana cost reduction up to 50%. What this means is:
1) The healer managing the green beam can heal the entire raid for the duration of the phase, and for 10 seconds after the phase ends (depending on the mana pool of the healer). 50% spell cost reduction means the healer will need only about 4 times the mana cost of their lowest cost heal to be able to continually cast it until the effect ends (considering they can cast a maximum of 7 times in 10 seconds with a 1.5 second global cooldown). Healer #2 should not have to heal at all during the first phase, unless your entire raid is for some reason standing around in void zones.
2) It is only after the phase ends that the healer managing the green beam will be out of mana, and healer #2 will need to take over raid healing while healer #1 uses the 2nd and 3rd phases to regenerate mana.
3) When the 3rd phase begins, the 2nd healer will take over the green beam and solo heal the entire raid. It is important to note that even if the 2nd healer has used any of his mana, he will still be able to absorb the green beam and heal the raid, so long as his maximum mana is over 10k. Once he runs out of mana in the 4th (2nd banish) phase, the first healer, who should have regenerated mana the entire time, will have to take over healing.
Rinse and repeat. The healing buff, which stacks up to 250%, is more than enough to outheal Netherspite's aura, which will tick for 5k on the person managing the blue beam at a full stack while reducing the healing they receive by 50%.
Even if neither of your healers can approach 10k buffed mana(say the healer managing the beam has only 9k), it can still be managed by having your 2nd healer (who should have had nothing to do for the entire 1st phase) pick up raid healing 10 seconds before the phase ends. Even if he uses half of his mana before it's his turn to manage the green beam, he should still be able to raid heal for the duration of the effect.
It should also be noted that having ANY type of mana potion (which healers should carry anyway) will make this fight far easier, as a mana pot used when you have 50 stacks of the debuff on you will essentially be worth twice as much because of the 50% spell cost reduction.

Definitely the most fun kara fight, I think.
My guild usually puts either a rogue or warrior in the green beam, caster or ranged in the blue, and obviously tank in the red. It makes this fight a cakewalk.
This fight is all about coordination and people paying attention. Setting specific switch outs on the beam is DEFINITELY needed, and also set a few people aside to help in case someone dies for some odd reason.

We downed him for the first time tonight. Took us 3 goes before we got our rotation and how the beams spawn worked out.
I'm glad we took the advice of not using a healer to tank the green beam, it's a complete waste of mana. If neither of your tanks are paladins you can have them roatate between the green and red beams. (ie. First portal phase tank 1 takes the red beam, Tank 2 takes the green. Seccond portal Phase tank 2 takes the red beam, tank 1 takes the green.)
Oh and for the tanks taking the Red beam, remember to keep jumping in and out of the beam. it doesn't matter if netherspite gets it too often and it's not worth the risk of your HP getting too low. In the heat of the moment I nubbed out during the last phase and stood in there too long. Got one hitted 2 secconds before the banish phase. Thankfully it wasn't any longer or we might have been in real trouble.
Also remeber to have 2 DPS's taking the blue beam in position right away. With the person taking the beam seccond in front of the person taking it first to ensure netherspite never get's the benifits from this beam. You can tell what color beam will come from the portal well before the actual beam comes out just by looking at the color of the portal.
Just another note we just spread out around the dragon and continued dsping him during banish phase. So long as you're evenluy spread out and pay attention to who he's going to breath on (He breifly changes target from the tank when he breaths) you can minmise the splash dmg from this ability while maximising dps.
Oh our makup was:
1x Proct War.
1x Arms/proc Hybrid War (41/0/20)
1x Holy Priest
1x Resto Sham
1x Enchance Sham
1x Ele Sham
1x Surv/marks Hunter
1x Combat Rogue
1x Mutil Rogue
1x Shadow Priest

Spam that during the fight. If people don't know what to do, they dont deserve the raid spot, and it should be a oneshot.

Red & Green Beams
My groups have found it easiest to have the tank not currently tanking Spite (in the red beam) take the green beam. This allows for the 2 tanks to control the 2 beams and make for a lot less issues of assigning beams, having people forget, or worrying about the green beam if someone dies (if one of the tanks die then you're pretty much done anyway.

The position of the beams depends on how Netherspite is positioned at the time the portals are created. The place where the portals open, may appear to be random, but they really aren't.

This fight is just like the Shade of Aran fight because everyone has to know what they are doing or else a chain-reaction of problems will occur and most likely wipe your raid.
In the portal phase, make sure you are positioning according to your corresponding portal (warlocks/melee dps in front of blue portal, tanks in front of red portal, healers in front of green portal). The portals switch positions after the vanish phase ends so your raid has to be paying attention.
During the vanish phase, you MUST stand atleast 10 yards away from each other or else you and whoever is standing close to you gets owned by nether breath. Ranged dps stands at max range so they can still dps netherspite while melee dps can run as far away from netherspite as possible and bandage up if they have to.
So all in all, netherspite is not hard if everyone is doing their part successfully during both phases. And of course, you want to kill him before he enrages :P

Just a note on the green beam. The strategy our guild uses has tank one and tank two swap between the red and green beams for the first two phases, then rotate on the red beam for every subsequent portal phase. This is because once a healer has gone into the beam for a whole phase, they have next to no mana, and have to rely on mana regen and pots. However, from portal phase 3 onwards, Netherspite should be damaged enough for your healers (we roll with 3) to take turns in the green beam.
A rogue could also spend the entire fight in the green beam, seeing as they and warriors are the only two classes that don't suffer any ill effects from it.
In regards to the red and blue beams, everything has pretty much been said. Red beam obviously needs a tank rotation; blue beam needs a dps caster (a warlock can survive a whole phase due to life drain; otherwise two casters need to rotate through it per phase). From my experiences, most healing should go to the blue phase holder, as the tank does not take a huge amount of dmg thanks to the -dmg effect from the red beam.
So from a healer's perspective, the fight is generally raid healing, with attention being paid to the blue beam holder. Do not take the green beam unless you are prepared to be manaless afterwards (ie. you are confident you have the regen to compensate, and you don't mind taking a pot, or you are so far into the fight it doesn't matter that you have no mana).

He's really easy once people do what they're supposed to do. You only need 2 tanks. One for each phase before a banish. His attacks during the banish are laughable, just heal whoever is targeted.
Tanks need to move out of the red beam for 5 ticks every once in a while to last an entire phase.

Edit for last patch:
As it is now, ph1 is remained unchanged - but you can't run out for ph2. So (at least that's our guild is doing it) everyone has to gather on netherspite, and when he starts casting, everyone run through him, to his rear. Repeat till he is done with casting netherbeams. Then ph 1 again. Also heard some tactics about using LoS with the windows, but we have not had any problems with this tact so far, plus melees can keep dpsing in that way. Hope it is of some help =)

not sure if its a bug or not, but here's something me and my guild found out about 3 weeks ago and have been doing since...during the banish phase, if you have a shaman drop a searing totem, every time he does his netherbreath, it targets the totem...so you know exactly where/when to avoid him and get to his rear, without having him spinning around crazy, since you know he stops rotating to cast the aoe.
and since totems can't get destroyed by aoe, this can negate the aoe during banish phase, which is usually the only real dealbreaker in downing him easy.

Easiest way I've seen to do it takes the following group:
2 Tanks
2 Warlocks
3 Healers (one for each beam)
3 Whatever else you can get
****The Pull:****
The MT Pulls Netherspite when he's closest to the door, and he pulls him as close to the door as he can. The MT positions himself to catch the Red beam, the OT positions himself to catch the green beam, and the Warlock #1 positions himself to catch the blue beam. Everyone else waits at the door until the beams are all caught. When the beams are caught everyone EXCEPT the red beam healer runs through the dragon, positions themselves on the opposite side of him, and starts DPS'ing. (The red beam healer should just stay at the door and heal the person in the red beam.)
****Odd Portal Phases:****
MT in Red
OT in Green
Warlock #1 in blue
MT tanks builds aggro even during the infinite aggro, OT does dmg from green, Warlock #1 drains life the entire phase. MT jumps out of the red stream when he's down to around 13000 life, and tanks from the side. This reduces the amount of damage that Netherspite takes, but isn't a big deal since the MT doesn't have infinite aggro briefly.
****Even Portal Phases:****
OT in Red
MT in Green
Warlock #2 in blue
OT stands in the red stream, wearing a shield and tank gear for damage mitigation, but just does damage. MT continues to build aggro in the green stream. Warlock #2 Drains Life the entire phase. OT steps out of the Red Stream when he's down to around 13000 life and just tanks from the side.
Toward the end of each Portal Phase (about 7 seconds from the change between portal and banish phases) everyone runs out EXCEPT the people in the beams, the blue beam healer, and the red beam healer.
****All Bansih Phases:****
Everyone runs to the very back of the room EXCEPT the MT and the red beam healer. The MT continues to develop aggro and hack away at Netherspite, and the Red beam healer keeps the MT healed up. Both need their backs to a wall. During this portion Netherspite likes to randomly target people and shoot them with his nether breath/blast/whatever...except they are out of range so he sits there stairing at random people while the tank builds aggro. He may occasionally turn to the tank and hit him once or twice, but he hits like a kitten at this point. If he does happen to breath on the healer and/or MT, no biggy, just heal back up and keep going.
7 Seconds from the end of each banish phase everyone else should run back in and position themselves to take their necessary beams, or position themselves to be clear of the beams and just DPS. Start DPS immediately but make sure you dont' jump above the MT's threat. You might take a breath or two, but that's not big deal to heal through, and you can just get to your beam and be ready.
****Rinse and Repeat****
You might get semi-close to the enrage timer, but that really shouldn't be a problem as long as people are doing full out DPS during the portal phase. My guild usually only has three portal phases before he dies, and we rarely loose anyone. Just don't stand in the void zones and you shouldn't have a problem with dying at all.
Also, as a side note, everyone should stand the minimum distance away from Netherspite during portal phases. Hunters should stand as close as they can while still being able to shoot, and everyone else except the beam holders should stand almost directly under the dragon, just spread out enough so that void zones wont effect more than one person at a time. This keeps everyone in healing range of all three healers just in case, and makes sure that if a beam drops on accident someone is close by to take it over. I usually assign an assistant to each beam to take over just in case. Paladins or well geared shamans are perfectly acceptable as red beam alternates (not as OT or MT of course) because they can just stand in the red beam and heal themselves.
****Clothy + Red beam = dead clothy
****Rogue + Red beam + evasion for the first few seconds = not to much of a problem
****Healer + Green beam + to much time = healer w/ no mana (I don't suggest ever allowing a mana user to take the green beam)
****If you don't have two warlocks you need at least two people to rotate through the blue beam each phase...plan it out before the fight.
****Remember, for this strat don't leave anyone but the MT and Red beam healer with Netherspite through the banish phases, and make sure Netherspite stays near the door.
If you use this, it's the least amount of coordination, it minimizes the amount of healing necessary, and it maximizes you chance of downing this pain in the butt. My guild has started using this strat lately, and it has made this guy a joke. We used to wipe on him once or twice before we finally downed him, usually just because of bad things happening during the banish phase (all three healers being blasted way back at the same time, and them not getting back in time to deliver a necessary heal). With this we have no wipes, no deaths, no problems, and free loot.

We took our first try on this guy and downed him in one shot. In essence to what people say, he isnt really that difficult.
Our group composition during the fight was:
1 Prot Warrior (MT) <-- Me
1 Feral Druid (OT)
2 Mages
1 Warlock
1 Resto Druid
1 Resto Shaman
1 Holy Paladin
1 Rogue
1 Hunter
We started the encounter by taking assumed portal positions, getting our Rogue to stand in the green beam and me in the red one, Warlock grabbed the blue one.
----
When i got around 25 stacks from the beam, our pallie switched to take the beam and once banish was up, everyone ran towards the telescope.
----
When the next portals came out, we had our OT taking the red beam, me taking the green one and our ranged DPS kept rotating the blue beam whenever necessary.
Once OT took 25 stacks, we switched our hunter to tank.
----
Repeated this about 3-4 times and took him down. Had some 4 minutes left on the timer.
So despite all the things said about him, he is still a pretty simple and fun encounter.

All this running out during banish face mombo jumbo.
This is how my guild does it - fight lasts 5-6 min our way.
Raid formation
2 tanks
3 rogues or 2 Hunters
1 Shadow Priest
3 healers
Rogues take care fo the blue beam while 1 healer specificaly heals the rogue in it. The other 2 healers watch the main healer and the rest of the raid - tanks don't need healing during portals.
Now as soon as the banish phase happens DO NOT RUN OUT!
the person who has the blue beam buff should IMMEDIATELY cut off dps along with the whole raid, exept for the tanks! Because nether wipes his agro list in banish phase - 1 shot from a dps in the blue beam will pull agro and tanks will have a hard time keeping it.
Give your tanks 5 seconds to gain agro on nether and then the DPS can slowly dps nether. This will prevent nether shooting everyone with his bolts AND gives you extra dps to down him faster.
Rince and Repeat
GL!

a warlock that is tanking the blue beam can use amplified curse of doom on the last seconds of the portal phase and damage netherspite for around 7-8% of its hp.

This was the last Boss we had to conquer in our guild's Karazhan raid in order to clear out this place once and for all.
He seems hard at first, but once you time the portal phases and the according beam-blockers well, he becomes one of the easiest bosses. He is a great training for communication in the raid and discipline of all players.
After you got him down to 10-15% you can ignore running out at the Banish Phase and DPS him with all you got. Worked out nice for us as in our first successful fight, this saved us from the enrage.

ok soi have a question. some ppl have been saying that a good tank can stack the red buff on netherspite to 100 and that it increases dmg taken rather then what is said here about it reducing his dmg taken. was this changed when kara was nerfed or are some ppl just retarded. cause if red beam DOES increase his dmg taken now rather then the latter then i have a very good strat for this boss im going to try that might make him a very quick kill.

A hectic fight that requires everyone to know whats going on and where thier suppose to be. Requires alot of raid coordination and it is rewarding when everything goes right and netherspite goes down.
Most of the work falls on the healers imo, having to keep up the blue beam people, the tank, and make sure no one gets killed by the aura. Alot of ppl will be taking dmg in this fight.

As a paladin offtank, I stay in the green beam for 1 round then switch to the red beam the next round, yes it drains my mana which would seem to deprive me of threat generation, however, the banish phase lasts long enough that I can cast avengers shield and/or a judgement on him to pick it back up by the time the banish phase is over, not to mention as soon as the beams come on I have instant aggro in the red beam anyway, so, prot paladins, don't be afraid of the green beam, judging wisdom during your turn in the red beam helps to build your mana back up since you won't be getting any heals.

This boss is ridiculous, way harder then any other kara boss in my opinion. Way to much raid damage for fight with only three healers.

This seems as a hard encounter in the beginning but after a few tries(read wipes) you'l notice it isnt that hard at all. Just have your tanks switch turnes with standing in the red and green beam and have 2 or 3 dps taking turnes in the blue beam(after bout 30 tickes of the debuff they should switch). Dont run trough beams if you're not suppose to and run the flock away when he goes into phase 2, cause he'l do a AOE thingy if ppl are too close to him in this phase. When he turnes back to phase 2, continue nuking. Also nice to know, you cant overaggro at this boss if a tank stands in the red beam. So spank him hard cause he has a enrage after like 9 min if i'm not mistaken.

When were doing a guild run and theres no new ppl with us and we dont have to explain it, we usualy kill him is 4 -5 min rrly one os the easiest bosses in kara. You just need to communicate and tell whos going to which beam everytime he switches phases. Heres a good tip : if you have green beam duty just stand at the source of the beam and don't bother attacking him, because you should not bea caster dps on green beam anyway and its way more important to not let green beam on him then doing some mele damage.

my guild had one death the whole fight, the shammy. We did perfect except the fact that my sword, cowl, and legs didn't drop. As the only rogue, I simply just had to run to the windows during banish mode then avoid black holes while spankin him

Reguarding the
GREEN BEAM
: I'm a healer that's currently alt-tabbed from a netherspite wipe. I was on the green beam for way more ticks than i should've been, but no one else was available to take it. *Make sure you don't stand in that beam too long!* I ended up with -21489 mana lol. Well, what my bar actually said was -21489... so negative mana = BAD. I'd say stay in it for about 25 stacks then switch with another healer. GL!

It's all about good, organised teamwork.. even more than most WoW raid bosses.

Group Make Up: 2 Tanks, 3 Healers, 5 DPS (doesn't matter what type)
The Pull: Netherspite pats around the room, but comes very close to the door (not in aggro range). Pull him at the closest point back to the door immediately at the beginning of the fight. <- This is where you should leave him the entire time.
This guy has two phases: (1) A portal phase where three portals are open (Red, Green, Blue) and each will either buff a player or buff Netherspite. The only portal that can truely NEVER touch Netherspite is the Green Portal because it will heal him considerably. (2) Banish Phase Nethy will launch these shadowy fireballs at random people.
Red: The red stream is the "tanking stream". Whoever stands in it has unlimited aggro, and gains 31000 life immediately. The second you step into the portal you get 31 stacks of a buff on you. Every second that passes one tick of the buff is removed, removing 1000 of your life, and inceasing your defense nicely.
Green: This is usually called the "healing stream", but you don't ever want healers to stand in it...just not worth the trouble. Have a non-mana using class stand here, such as a warrior or rogue (or druid in cat/bear form if you know they wont need their mana). This portal adds immensely to your +healing, and gives you a ton of extra mana at the beginning, but it also drains your mana away every second. It's just not worth the risk to allow a healer to get completely drained.
Blue: This stream increases the amount of spell damage you do, but also the amount of spell damage you take. So with every tick of this spell Netherspite's damaging aura is going to beat on you harder and harder, but you can beat on him harder and harder as well. Warlocks' drainlife ftw here.
NOTE: Once you take a stream and step out of it for 5 seconds you gain a debuff making it so you can't take that particular stream again for another 90 seconds. This DOES NOT mean you can't take another stream, just not that particular color. Also, during portal phases he will put void zones on the ground...if you are in a stream either run forward or backward out of these, but do not go side to side or you will step out of your beam. Everyone else just get out of them quickly. They do around 1800 DPS to you, and as you can tell that kills quick.
Odd Numbered Portal Phases: Tank him near the entrance by having the Main Tank stand in the red portal stream. The Off Tank should be in the green portal stream, and if you have a warlock you can have him stand in the blue portal the entire phase and drain life. If you don't have a warlock just have the other healers and DPS'ers rotate in and out of the blue portal every 20 seconds or so, you should have plenty of spare people to rotate through that stream. The Main Tank's job is to stand in the red stream until his life has ticked down to around 10k. At that point he has such immensely high Defense from the buff that he can go ahead and step out of the stream, allow it to buff Netherspite (no big deal, it reduces the damage he takes for the last few seconds of this phase), and then just continue to tank him from outside the red stream. The only thing you have to worry about here is that everyone still has to make sure not to jump to high in threat, so that the tank can step out without much of a problem. After the first phase, this really isn't an issue.
Even Numbered Portal Phases: Tank him in the same spot, but this time the OT takes the red stream, the MT takes the green Stream, and everyone else deals with rotating through the blue stream.
Banish Phases: The tank keeps Nethy at the door. One healer stays near the tank to heal him periodically. Everyone else runs completely to the opposite side of the room, on the other side of the giant telescope. This puts everyone out of the range of Netherspite, so when he does his little shadow blast he's just spitting in the wind. So the tank stands there gaining HUGE amounts of aggro for that phase (getting beat on from time to time by Nethy) and everyone else is safely in the back of the room, healing up, recharging a little mana, and getting ready to come back in and wail on him again. This phase lasts for around 60 seconds. Around 50-55 seconds into the phase, everyone should run back to Nethy and get ready for the portals.
Rinse and repeat. You just have to make sure your DPS is high enough to kill im in the 9 minutes, but if you have made it this far, you are probably good to go in that area.

Seems if the battle goes on too long, the dragon becomes very angry and starts hitting very hard. I was hit for 25k (more than twice my HP) and other got hit by 27k. I'm not exactly sure what triggered it but it was during banish phase and the dragon turned red instead of dark blue when he starting shooting big nukes.

Netherspite is by far the most enjoyable boss fight in Karazhan. His loot table might be a bit discouraging compared to the difficulty learning the encounter, but I encourage all guilds to go kill this guy for a change. The fight puts focus on teamwork and coordination instead of gear and consumables. Good luck!
