General Drakkisath comes with two Elite Adds. Take note that the adds have high magic resistance due to them being of the chromatic flight.
The general strategy is to have a hunter pull Drakkisath with Aimed Shot -> Distracting Shot to get solid aggro and then kite him to the beast's room. When the hunter gets to the fire before the beast's room make sure to put on Aspect of the Cheetah to avoid getting dazed from the flames if they get hit. When you enter the beast's room send your pet to attack drakkisath and continue to kite him around the room while you wait for your pet to get enough hate to pull aggro off of you. When your pet pulls aggro Feign and let your pet die. Once your pet dies Drakkisath will go back to the room where the raid should have the adds cleared (When kiting drakk stay as far as him as possible, if you get within 30 yards you will get Conflagurated and probably die).
Dealing with the adds is pretty simple, they have a high amount of HP and resist magic heavily but focus firing them down is an easy task.
When Drakkisath makes his way back into the room have your Main Tank pull aggro onto him and run him up against a corner facing away from everyone else in the raid to prevent his conal attacks from hitting the raid. The main tank should be facing one way with no one next to him against a wall and the offtank should be against the other wall. The Melee DPS should be behind drakk at all times. When the Main Tank is Conflagged the offtank should taunt him off. In doing this set up your raid shouldn't have any problems with his Conial attack and mana shouldn't be a problem from having to heal too much.

Level: Boss
Location: Blackrock Spire in Blackrock Mountain
Type: Dragonkin
Drakkisath can be found in his throne room behind the Halls of Ascension in Blackrock Spire.
Strategy
Drakkisath is encountered with his two chromatic guards. The party's best chance of success is to engage the guards first, eliminating them while Drakkisath is lured away, or "kited". To this end, a hunter (or any other class that can loose aggro suddenly, such as a Rogue with Vanish or a frost Mage with iceblock)can be used to gain Drakkisath's notice and drag him across the bridge back to the Beast's lair or Rend's room. Generally speaking, by the time the hunter has done this the General's guards will be dead. The hunter can then feign death (or perish) and when the General returns, it's best to have two tanking classes engage him. Drakkisath's Conflagration attack will cause the victim to become confused and run about in circles all the while dealing AE damage to nearby party members. This last 6 seconds and deals roughly 3,000 damage to the target. While this effect is in place, the General will turn on the next player highest on his hate list. If two tanks are utilized, there is less of a chance that the General will chase after a priest or mage, or similar class who will fold under his attack. Once the conflagration effect wears off the main tank, they can go back to work gaining aggro and trying to attain second place on the General's hate list as he most likely will conflagrate the second tank. The tanks can trade off aggro in this fashion while the rest of the party whittles the General down. Because of the AOE effect of the Conflagration attack and the General's breath weapon, it's important for the tank to turn the General away from the rest of the party and to maintain some distance from them as well.
Hunter strategy to kiting Drakkisath: A hunter can kite Drakkisath by enabling Aspect of the Cheetah and pulling him with distracting shot. Another distracting shot may be fired once the hunter reaches the end of the bridge. It will take a second for Drakkisath to come into range, so the hunter should wait and spam distracting shot until Drakkisath is in range. Afterwards, the hunter should run all the way to Rend's room and feign death once Drakkisath catches up. The hunter can then follow Drakkisath back to the group. By then, both guards should be dead and the group can kill Drakkisath. (Note: There are other ways and other places to kite Drakkisath, but Rend's room seems a good place. The Beast's room has fire, which will daze the hunter if Aspect of the Cheetah is left on.)
Alternately, Drakkisath's guards are vulnerable to chain fearing by warlocks*. In this situation, Drakkisath can be kept busy while a guard is repeatedly feared. The third guard is killed by the rest of the party, who then switch to the feared guard and finally Drakkisath himself. Similarly, druids can sleep the guards*. They resist often, but if you have two druids sleeping one guard, it works well*.
Should the party feel confident in the number of tanking classes and healers they have at their disposal, they can simply attack all three simultaneously. Killing the guards first as they are easily downed, and then focusing on Drakkisath.
2/13/06 Note: Drakk's guards are now stronger, highly resistant to fear. Curse of Shadow aids in fearing the guards. .
If you are attuning yourself for Blackwing Lair, then the orb that must be touched to complete the quest is located just behind where Drakkisath was standing.
When doing the last quest of the Onyxia key chain (Drakefire Amulet on the Horde side, you have to loot the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion from Drakkisath and turn it in by talking to Rexxar, who wanders between Desolace and Feralas. For Alliance players, you will have to loot the blood and turn it in to Haleh in Winterspring.

Note that Drak is considered a raid boss so will still hit fairly hard (and not many spell resists) even on a level 70 tank.

Not all too hard with 70s in ur raid. all we had to do was hold him off in the other part of room while i whirlwinded the guards and the raid bashed 'em down then we took drakk. although his conflag hits for alot still. Note i was the 58 in the group. And if you have few people in the group youll make a little $$ too =)

Tried doing this with 375 FR as a 70 Feral Druid, and I reisted none of the Conflagrates. Recommend a 2nd tank or someone that can take some hits while the MT is conflagged, if you plan on doing this at 70.

Stealth runnable... I did it with 3 ppl.. 70 feral druid, 70 combat rogue and 65 feral druid... 65 healed with practically no healing gear. I recommed 3 70s, or pretty good geared 2 70s and healer. The group being what it was.. we had a quite close call... but we managed. Had the 3rd person been 70 and more of a healer, there really wouldn't have been any problems...
Nuke adds and then kill Drakk.

Despite him being from an old-world instance, Drakkisath is technically a Level ?? (Boss) mob, which means your resistance to his attacks at level 70 is the same you'd need against a level 73 raidboss. That said, I'm not even sure whether or not Conflagration is resistable at all, or if you need much more to handle it than usual.

Three-manned him with a level 70 Prot Paladin, 70 Feral Druid and 60 Shadow Priest. Both 70s had a mix of Heroic/Karazhan/Badge of Justice gear. We ended up just tanking the adds next to Drakkisath, which got pretty hairy at times due to the Conflag. The Shadow Priest had to go on healing duty at several points, and the Feral Druid threw a few heals also when he wasn't tanking the adds or Drakkisath.
The fight lasted at least five minutes, around two minutes to rather slowly kill the adds with Rank 3 Consecrate and Swipe spam, and then three or more minutes for Drakkisath himself. Still a very fun fight at level 70.

About the level I do aggre with what was said by some of you guys : boss levels don't really matter, they are just a way to disguise the real power of the mob.
Whaterver it is, draakhi must be some stuff like 62-63.
Skinning could be a way to evaluate is actual level, but again do we know how blizzard stores this data in the game ? Maybe they have a skinning level requirement column for each mob, and most of the time the data in there is mob level X 5... but sometimes maybe blizzard techs put the data they want inside that field ? So that people can actually skin him, whatever his level his.
Those bosses don't respect regular mob levels rules, they might be stored in the game data stuff in a different way to...
Who knows ? well blizzard does for sure ^^
Whaterver le the level, draakhi is quite strong.
About tactics, well killing the boss first is IMO, stupid.
It is as simple as that : he requires the most firepower to be taken down, so you will spend a long time tanking his guards will you kill him, therefore you will spend a lot of ressources healing all 3 tanks.
On top of that draakhi requires 2 tanks cause his fear will incapacitate the main tank...
Best way to do that is mezz one guard, off tank draakhi on the right side hallway (the one you came from) and kill the over guard. Draakhi as a nasty AOE so its better to keep him far away from other characters. One priest and a pally are good enought to heal the tank on draakhi.
Once one guard is down, deal with the other one. Keep in mind that the main tank will get feared by draakhi which will require some tanking backup if you don't want your priests to get one shooted ^^
Once both guards are down full DPS draakhi, that won't be a long fight if your 2 tanks can keep aggro (and they should be able too if they are true tanks).
that's it, it really is no a difficult mob if you don't have a stupid pick up raid that will run and shoot at random ^^

The easiest way to take down drak is to get a hunter to mark a guard first then pull drak and run all the way back to the beasts room and then turn around and come back, while the hunter does this the tanks pull the two guards and dps the one with the mark on him then the other(its relativly easy to take down both before the hunter returns) once the hunter returns tanks aggro drak and just dps him. Extremly easy fight if everyone follows this plan. I've done 6 runs so far and no luck with devout robe OR mantle... starting to get annoying.

why do i never hear the good way to kil this guy? (only 1 hunter mentioned it here)
on my server we do it good!
watch this:
-a hunter pulls drakkie and takes him for a walk as far as possible
-then 2 tanks charge the adds
-the rest of the team DPS 1 add and then the other.
-when the 2 adds are dead the hunter who is with drakkie sumwhere at the beast room dies(and sacrefices his life for the team)or feign deaths and then
-then drakki comes back and the whole team is ready and w8ing for him to finish him off
(btw, ress the hunter be4 looting, he did sacrifice his life for u ;) )
always did, never failed.

I've been running UBRS alot lately and basically any group that can manage to reach General Drak has had no difficulty downing him. I'm usually the only hunter and we use the standard hunter kite tactic.
Here's what i do, pull drak with a distracting shot and run in cheetah to the bridge. Start he pull as close to the door as possible. If your in Cheetah as you should be you will be outside 41 yards when you reach the end off the bridge. I back up slowly letting Drak catch up the hit him with an arcane shot to prevent him from deaggroing. Then run to the beasts room. Make sure to jump the fire as if you get hit for a tick of damage the Cheetah daze does proc and bad things will happen to you. Go as deep in to the beast room as possible and you should be outside 41 yards again. Turn wait for range then hit him wit something for a bit of damage and feign death.
Durng this time the group should have done the standard one main tank, one off tank DPSing each guard in turn.
Then just tell the raid he is on his merry way back and to be rdy. Any good group should easily have the adds downed at this point and you dont have to die to accomplish this. (Unless he ever gets within 20 yards of you, then he will use conflagurate and you will be dead)
This has worked everytime all the time, its just important to not get so far ahead of Drak he deaggros, otherwise you run into many of the issues mentioned above.

Kiting drak is the best way.
Distracting shot + aspect of cheetah
run to the beasts room
Feign death. chase him and shoot him as needed. (after FD cooldown)
Take care
(Kited him as 58 hunter)

Yep...ran thru UBRS pretty quickly and downed drakki with 8 lvl 60's
Hunter to kite ofc, also 3 pallys, druid, priest, warrior and lock.
(note a lack of dps there as well!)
So he is very possible at 8 and maybe with 5 with some serious epic gear. We had a good time of it, only one died and was combat rezzed.

Quite easy indeed. 3manned. 70 warrior, shadowpriest and myslef (holy pally)... bosses in here are extremely easy now what with the level cap raised to 70 and all... Honestly, as far as stats go, we weren't geared either.. Tank was going at it with a blue, shadowpriest had a couple purples and I myself had only around 1k +healing. I flashed healed my way through the boss.
T6 would be overkill for this guy.

Then the boss combo of Warlord Rend Blackhand and his dragon mount
Then The Beast
Then General Drakk
I've killed this guy over and over, and never have I seen the Wildheart BP drop. I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist.

we always get a Hunter to kite the General 6to thew beasts room and have MT off tank the right guard so hae can keep a watch for the General while everyone else kills the left guard then moves to the right guard .... why do it thisa way well first off keeping the General away from the \Raid is always a good thing uses less mana and what not ...a good hunter can easily kite general to beats room into the far broken corner and FD by the time the general gets back to the raid you should be sitting there waiting for him...this is a great way to kill him when you lack the warriors to Off Tank general and his guards .....my guild uses this no matter how many warriors we have

Hunter kites Drakk away.
Warlock or priest or combo chain fears one add.
All others kill other add. Then kill feared add.
Then hunter feigns death, drakk comes back, and you dps him to death as well.
Don't expect to beat him wearing lvl 50 greens. Gear up first.

Ok, it's probably worth the effort..
So, your little PuG has beaten its way to General Drakkisath's throne room, and now everyone's looking at YOU, the hunter. Time to step up and take one for the team?
Well, maybe if you suck. If OTOH, you'd like to be standing up when the fight's over, and maybe get the killing blow on 'Old Sackadraft', then listen up...
First off, know how to strafe-kite, or be a damn fine jump-shooter. Either of these skills will serve you well here, and both are critical for the 4-demon strafe tests that will someday net you a Rhok'Delar.
Strafe-kiting
involves running sideways using the 'Q' or 'E' keys, while facing 90 degrees away from Drak so you can pump arrows into him on the run. This is by far superior to jump shot for kiting Drak, since you don't need to worry about running into any enemies. Just pump Arcanes into him and keep Serpent up, tossing an occasional Concussive in when it's up.
The jump-shot
is a little trickier, you need to be running away from your target (with your back to them), hit the spacebar to jump, and while in mid-air, whip the mouse far enough to spin you so you can shoot an Arcane or Serpent Shot (or Concussive if it's up), and whip the mouse back to your line of travel in one fluid move. You need to have the shot you're planning on using hot-keyed, I set Arcane to the '2' key on ALL of my hunters (my mains on almost every server are hunters). Just hit the spacebar with your left thumb, whip the mouse with your right hand, tap 2 with your left ring finger, and whip the mouse back with your right hand, all while holding 'W' down with your left middle finger. It's a lot of crap going on at once, but it's really really useful when you need to see where you are going while you're kiting.
1) So, you're a whiz at jump-shots, your strafe-kiting is textbook, your technique is perfect, what next? First off, have your pet out, and, in violation of everything you've ever heard about pets and instances, with Growl on Auto-Cast, set to Follow you, and set to Defensive. Cast Aspect of the Cheetah. Stand along Drakk's path to the Beast's room, at max range, and open up with your maximum blastage, likely an Aimed Shot, and run like hell for the Beast's room. Don't throw a little extra in there, like a Serpent Sting, or anything, just RUN!
2) Ok, now Drakk's hot on your heels.
Where do you take him?
The Beast's room is perfectly adequate for this kite, taking him to the Arena is just showing off. But it is fun if you're on Vent with your raid to hear them saying stuff like "Geeze, where did you take him, Stormwind?" if you do take him that far.
3) While you're headed for your target area, remember to jump-shot or strafe-shot him with Serpent(keep it active), Concussives, and Arcanes.
4) Ok, so you're in the Beast's room (or the Arena, you show-off you), now what? Well, by now your raid should have the second guard at about 25-40%, assuming the loss of your contribution to the raid's DPS wasn't utterly crippling. Set your pet on him, FD, and stand up. Ask the raid (hopefully you're either a fast typist or on Vent) if they're ready. If they are, Dismiss your dog when your FD cooldown is almost up ('cause we always bring the Furious Howl spammer into instances, right?) to save you a Roast Quail, (Your pet should still be okay, I mean, he's your instance dog, right? He's got a ton of Fire and Nature (or Shadow if ZG and AQ20 on yet on your horizon) Resistance and Armor, right?) and Feign Death again.
5) Drakk will dutifully trundle back to his throne room now that he's 'dealt with' you. Just whistle up your dog, and follow him back. The second guard will be long dead when you arrive. You know what to do.
IF THINGS GO WRONG
Um, I botched up the kiting and he Conflagged me, now what?
Well, your pet is out, in Defensive, and Growling. Conflag will hopefully wear off in time to save the kite. As soon as it wears off, get to max range while setting your pet to Passive so he stops attacking Drakk, and blast Drakk with your biggest shot, AND a Distracting Shot. Keep blasting him til you get aggro back, you want your pet alive to do this again if he catches you again, so don't rely on your pets death to dump aggro on you. He may even Conflag your pet, in which case He'll come straight for you again.
Once you have aggro again, your back to Step 2. God's speed, hunter.
6) Profit.
(If you find this helpful, please do my post karma a favor and vote thusly.)

Must have the wrong group mix. Looks like we will wind up skipping this one. Just a little too much to deal with a 10 man group.

This has been probably said a hundred times here, to beat this guy you need 2 warriors and one hunter and a warlock(optinal), and the rest all healers and randoms. Hunter kites him, each tank tanks and add, nuke one at time. Why the warlock? to put curse of doom on Darkki while he's running, so you have 1 min to kill the adds, then he'll come back since CoD will make the warlock pull aggro. The point of curse of doom is to avoid the death of the hunter, nothing else really.

There are alternative for this popular hunter strategy, but they're all harder, you could Crowd control the dragons adds and Nuke drakki to death as fast as possible, or if you have a third really good tank to tank him while nuking the adds, this requirs a well geared and well skilled group, so not likely to find a public group that can do that. And also another strategy is make a mage kite him with blink and swiftness potion, a bit harder than a hunter and not as good, but it worked on the second try when we did it.
This isn't one of the encounters that have one single strategy dependant on a single class(also I don't see a problem with this kind of encounters, atleast they make sure that not all parties are 4 warriors 3 mages 3 healers), it's just the most popular and workful one, and it's so easy for any public group to make. There are many alternatives.

Drakk is the same as he was before 1.10. He might 'seem' to conflag more but that's probably a byproduct of most people being used to having 15. My guild has been 8-10 man'ing him for a month now and we noticed no difference.
The spawns in his room, however, are SEVERELY thinned out. There are less than half the groups there used to be.
Also, Drakk dropped 2 blues and a blue chestpiece. I'm guessing it is one blue, one setpiece, and one random blue from the table which has a chance to be a setpiece. I assume this because they said the droprates on the chest/legs/helm were going up but they were already 100%, so making a chance for 2 is the only way to up the rate.

I must say that im just an average hunter and on my firs attempt to kite this guy or any guy I was able to kite him to beast room and that was just enough for rest of the group to kill adds. Only mistake I made was to get burned by fires on entrance of beast room. For next encounter I changed tactics and kite him all the way back to arena. This is very easy to do you start of with distracting shot and aspect of Cheetah. Run to the end of the bridge and wait for him to come in range pop a sting and run again to the left exit and left again just as you go down you stop and kite him again it will actually go trough the walls. Then run to the arena and stop on the right side middle of arena when he come in range kite again and run towards the corner you can feign or send the pet at this stage. If you send the pet you can actually run along the wall and back towards the exit of arena. This will be plenty of time for group to finish adds and drink as they wait for drake and you to come back. Very easy to do.

Last night an alliance my guild is in was trying to get a run to UBRS going. We had issues with needing someone with the key and filling up the last four slots. Luckily for us one of our guild key holders wiped on the instance run he was in and he brought enough people from it to fill up our last spots to get a 15 man raid. Of course many of the people that were !@#$%ing about how long it was taking to find a key holder started to complain that this didn’t give us the classes to do the raid due to the lack of a priest and enough mages. Well after several disconnects and lag issues the other 2 warriors and few others dropping the group because of the lack of a priest and time issues we managed to pick up people to fill the holes and went into the instance with the following classes.
Druids 4
Rogues 3
Paladins 2
Hunters 2
Mage 1
Warlock 2
Warrior 1
We tore though UBRS and made it to the General in about 2 hours this included being hampered by various members getting disconnected repeatedly. We got there well over the projected 4 hours others in the raid suggested seeing we were druid heavy.
First try at him was a wipe. I tanked the General while everyone else focused on his right lackey then his second. Unfortunately the 2nd druid in my group was disconnected right when I charged, one of the other groups druids was also booted in mid fight as well as a paladin. After I dropped it was petty much like dominos and we wiped. But luckily the paladin was Soulstoned by one of the warlocks and died far enough away from the General. As Kabili said having a rezzer soulstoned is a must for insurance.
After rezing, rebuffing and medding up we went at it again. Same tactic but this time we were lucky and had no disconnects. Fight went much better. One druid sacrificed herself to combat rez me but we managed to pull though with only about 6 people face down 2 druids, 1 mage, 1 rogue, 1 hunter.
This guy can be taken down without the “ideal” 15-man raid group as long as people know their role and work as a team. I’d venture to say a good 10-man group could pull it off. But I'd suggest at least bringing more then 1 warrior.

I just did my first UBRS run today, and I can vouch as a hunter that the kiting tactic still works just fine. The trick is to start as far toward the bridge as you can, while still in LOS of Drak.
It's still possible to kite him back past the bridge, even to Rend's room
as long as you can keep aggro on him
. I did this by starting with an aimed shot, then running ahead with Aspect of the Cheetah and waiting for him to come back into range, where I would fire off a distracting shot.
Simply repeat that process until you get as far as you want, then feign and/or sick your pet on him, and it will take Drak a while to get back to the rest of your group. I did ok on the pull, although I died because I kept going straight and got trapped in The Beast's room, where I was soon Conflagged and dead about 10 seconds later.
I was happy though, drak dropped my BS chest (also got BS belt & wrists, pretty good run for me).

in all 9 of my groups weve gotten to drakk with the classes
2 wars
2 priests
1 mage
1 warlock
2 rogues
1 pally
1 hunter.
i think its a good group but every group. the hunter has sucked and couldnt kite. i have never killed drakk and i think were doing it right. hunter kites him. down both adds full dps. then drakk. but never killed himm. does anyone know any good hunters on daggerspine alliance?

Since patch, this guy is a LOT harder. You have to kill him exactly right. Kite him and quickly kill his cronies, then, as he comes back, hit him with everything you've got. Go all out. My group only had to rez once the entire dungeon and we died 3 times on him.

Obviously id like the halbeard of smiting but our guild isnt getting there anytime soon, im currently using the IBS and need an upgrade, they both have a low chance to drop and i was wondering if i should just stick with this, you know be more unique, more procs (5 sec stun in BG would be nice ;)) or just aim for the halbeard of smiting more dps, procs less and is alot more common than the sword is? if sword spec i might proc 2 in a row or with polearm spec i ould crit 5% more ( i currently have about 28% crit with polearm spec in battle stance).
edit:er forgot to mention that i was talking about the blackblade of Sharam

In my last run of UBRS, the General used an AE fire attack I've never seen before. Of course it flattened me. He used it right after the using Conflagate. I happened to be second on the aggro list meaning I was down in a few hits (bloody leather).

It's stupid how many times I've gone to help out a pickup group in UBRS and seen the MT get conflagged and cause Drakk to run amok on the DPS. If you have two warriors, the easy answer is to fight him like Razorgore. Put the MT in his face, and the OT on his rear. OT needs to build as much hate as possible and when the MT gets conflagged all Drakk does is turn around instead running around the room like a jackass. Try it...

So, we went up against Drakk with no hunter. Firm in the knowledge that Blizzard does not design these encounters with only one possible strategy in mind, we decided on an alternative. Since we had 2 warlocks, we decided to have each one chain fear a guard while the raid concentrated on Drakk himself. All was working well until the warlocks' fears became resisted and they dropped like flies. (Note: put a healer, albeit a pally, back with the warlocks) The good news is that Drakk was really low on life. So, anyway, he wiped the raid. The last man standing, the mage, delivered the fatal blow to Drakk before he was overwhelmed by the guards. But, we did kill him : )
I think if we had kept the warlocks alive long enough for the fears to take hold again, we could have avoided the wipe. Just sharing an alternate strategy that would work with a bit of fine-tuning.

well... when we fight the general we usualy have 2 of each charecter, somtimes 3 of one and things vary, however, when we get to drakisat we usualy spam the lowest lvl add, or the left add if they are same lvl, then we have oure main tank tankin the general, while we all nook the other add, when the add is dead we start attacking the feared add, kill it and all storm the general, this is pretty basic and it works every time (never ever had a whipe with him yet)
btw. my record for doing UBRS is 1h 30-40 mins

Our Group makeup was:
1 Arms/Fury Warr (me)
1 Feral Druid
1 Hunter
2 Retro-specced Pallies
2 Holy Priests
2 Rogues
1 Mage
All 60.
The Feral and I tanked the instance, Pallies OTd/healed when necessary, Hunter MA'd.
When we got to Drakk, Hunter kites him to Beasts room, while we DPS down the guards, then one of us (me or druid) picks up Drakk after Hunter FD's.
Just keep two people on him building aggro, when one gets Conflagged, the other can pick him up.
BTW, this is my 20+ run into UBRS, only seen the Drac Deflector drop once. Lost it cuz I bid on the Carapace that Gyth dropped.

Drakk is cake if you have a good hunter. Today we wiped because our hunter lost Drakk's interest to early when kiting him so he came back and wiped us before we had any of the adds down.

My group didn't have a hunter but we knew we had to kite (tried to offtank Drakk, definitely a bad decision.) On our last try, we had a warlock kite him using shield, voidwalker and sacrifice, and was quite effective, getting drak a little past the beast's room. Too bad we screwed up and everyone's armor was broke. But not too shabby for most of us never having done UBRS before and only 1 priest.

Our 9-man group & gear was as follows:
60 Warrior (2 or 3 MC/epics; a few ZG blues; rest was BRS, Scholo & Strath gear)
60 Mage (half Arcanist, half Netherwind; epic weapon/O hand, trinkets, rings)
60 Rogue (half Nightslayer, a few ZG blues; rest was BRS, Scholo & Strath gear)
60 Hunter (all DM, BRS, Scholo & Strath gear, IBS)
60 Priest (Holy specced; Truefaith, HotW, Bene; rest was BRS, Scholo & Strath gear)
60 Priest (Shadow specced; Truefaith, HotW; rest was BRS, Scholo & Strath gear)
60 Druid (Feral specced; 3 pieces of tier.5, nothing else over a lvl 55 blue)
60 Warlock (3 pieces of tier.5, nothing else over a lvl 55 blue)
59 Warlock (crap for gear, only has BOE set pieces, mostly 50-ish blues)
This was our first guild attempt at clearing UBRS, and hence our first shot at Drakk as a guild (it should be noted we were using voice conferencing). The strategy we set on was having our hunter kite Drakk to the Beast's room while our 59 'lock chain feared the left guard and everyone else dps'd the crap outta the right one. Our first attempt met with dismal failure, as our hunter lost aggro prematurely. It should also be noted that our MT warrior failed to repair prior to the run and had a lot of his armor broken at this point ... and no engineers for a bot. Our second attempt worked well enough. The hunter got killed in the Beast's room when we had the second guard around halfway down his life bar. Whilest killing the first guard, the Mage was worthless because he was getting resisted left and right. It wasn't until one of our 'locks threw on Curse of Elements near the end of the second fight that the mage could actually hurt them. We had a good few seconds from the time of the death of second guard until Drakk appeared. And when he did finally appear, it was somewhat of a fustercluck. Our MT would get conflagged and it would take our feral druid a few to get growling & get Drakks attention. Both priests healed, but the shadow-specced priest often healed players the holy-specced had just healed. So, with 8-people, a shaky tanking trade-off and horrible healing by the shadow priest, we downed Drakk without a single death (the hunter died earlier, remember). As a reward for his sacrifice, Drakk bestowed the BS Tunic on our Hunter (the 59 'lock got the Draconic Infused Emblem and the MT got his Draconic Deflector! ... ok, I lied, the Brigam Girdle dropped and was DE'd).

Right when we where about to attack drakki and his guards a mage got DC, but we decided to take drakki 9-man.
Used the kite tactic, but wasn't that succesfull... the hunter just made it outside drakki's room that's it. So by the time drakki came back one guard was at 10% the other at 100%, "quickly" killed the guards (we had only 2 rogues and one mage (me) as dps). By the time the guards where dead we had 7 people left and drakki at full health...
When drakki was at 10% we had 3 people left, a priest without mana, a shammy with a little mana and me (mage) with hardly any mana.
Shammy just kept on running through the room with drakki behind him, i popped a mana pot and was lucky enough to crit 5 of my 6 shots.
Bad ass start, but we got him and guess what he dropped dreadmist again... i really should have started a lock

This guy is much harder than any of the other bosses in BRS. I've seen plenty of raids plow through UBRS without a single death, only to wipeout horribly to drakk. Make certain that a rezzer is soulstoned or that you have some means of wipe-recovery because most likely the instance will be respawning by the time you get to drakk. There is nothing worse than spending all that time clearing UBRS only to wipe to drakk and have to leave without getting the kill.
Drakk is occompanied by two level 60 elite guards, although sometimes one of them is level 59. These guards need to be killed first...and if you wipe to Drakk they will both respawn. The guards don't do anything special, just straight melee, and they die pretty quick if you have good dps. The most important thing is to keep them off your healers. They can be hibernated or feared, although resists are usually high so don't expect these spells to stick for long.
Most raids on my server will have a warlock or 2 keep one of them feared while the other guard is killed quickly. I've also heard of raids that put a tank on each of them, but I guess this would depend on how many tanks and healers you have. Keep in mind that it seems like the guards' agro is somewhat linked to the general, so if a guard becomes un-feared (or if it's tank loses agro) expect that guard to go straight after the priest that's healing the tank on drakk. This is just one of the reasons why backup healers must keep an eye on that priest at all times.
Drakk himself has alot of hitpoints, so you'll need plenty of dps and healing power left over after the 2 guards are dead. Drakk will occasionally Mortal Strike, so i recommend keeping the MT's health topped off in case this happens. Drakk also has an ability called conflagrate (sp?) which he casts on the person who has agro. This ability is fire based and will confuse the target as well as DoTing them for a ton of damage over 5 seconds or so. When your MT is hit with this he WILL lose agro and he WILL need heals. You can't cure or dispell the effect, so you just have to deal with it until it fades. Usually what happens is the MT gets hit with the debuff, loses agro, drakk kills the priest, and the fight goes downhill from there. Drakk ignores fade and is imune to fear, so once he agros on a priest it's not easy to recover. We've had good success with putting 2 warriors on drakk while the guards are dealt with. This way when one warrior gets DoTed the other war can take agro to keep drakk off the priest...however this requires another warrior...but you might be able to get away without using a warrior to tank the 2 guards since they dont hit terribly hard.
Good luck.

LMAO to the guy that said his MC/Ony veteran group couldnt get him below 49%. This guy is so easy. I've done this as the main healer priest with a shaman backup and no other healing. OUr guild can get 4 mobs into ZG somewhat easily, but no MC or Ony. Only real veteran we had was the MT with the purple sword from the DM book/Ony fight. Even the Beast isnt all that hard. did him 6man with the same guildies except the MT was an arms/fury war and we had 2 priests (people dropped out on us when the login servers were down but the realms were still up). Y'all just need to suck it up and reroll horde because it was your paly that wiped the raid.

Since the big 1.10 Patch this is a <=10 man run only!
The patch included changes to UBRS one of which prevents Drak from being kited more than halfway over the bridge!
I would say that the next best method is to fear the guards over and over while ALL dps is on Drak himself.
The PUG I ran with last night gave up after a few attempts and a I haven't tested this method out properly yet. Anyone else got some good new strategies?
Will keep you all posted.

If u havent got hunters (but an ice mage) just let him kite drakkistah.
Its easy, ive done it. All you have to do is get aggro, hit him every now and then, and ice block, when he hit you, or you are @ the beasts room.
Return to the group, and repeat with Cold Snap if neccesary.

Did this two nights ago with a 10 man group, I was MT (59 prot warrior), and we had a 60 arms or fury warrior as an OT.. Seemed pretty simple, as a hunter kited drakk away, while the warrior and I each tanked a guard, dpsing one at a time. Painweaver Band dropped with some other stuff, and it was me, a shaman, and a warlock (go figure?) who rolled need.. Shaman won it =\

When we killed him last night, we had a hunter pull the General with a single shot and take off running. At the same time as this, two of our warriors charged the guards, so we kept the guards in the room while the hunter was running for dear life with a pissed off General on his tail. We all focused our attacks on one guard at the time and took them out before the General returned. The idea was that the hunter would feign death eventually but this wasn't needed as the General lost interest after a while and trudged back. Once the guards were down, the General was (more or less) cake to take down.
I hope this helps

Ive downed drakk about 12 times now with my rogue but last night was the best. My 1st run with no hunter so we had a tank on one add, pally on the other and our MT on Drakk who pulled im around the room while we took the adds that went down rather easy. 2nd add was at 12% when our tank on Drakk had a lag spike lost aggro and died at this point all of us were expecting a wipe all of the group dropped in about a minute and a half after our MT died leaving drakk at 12% with some DoTs on him luckly i was bandaging when the last pally died and the preist poped her SS in time to throw a sheild on me. Simply slammed on my adrenil rush and evasion got 5 doses of deadly on him and blast his last 2k HP out with a crit evicerate. What pisses me off after all that an SC chest drops and i lose it to a feral who rolled 78...all in all it was fun and lets me add General Drakkish to my bosses tanked list :P
so just make sure uve got a hunter that can kite(and has a fire protection pot) and Drakk shouldnt be much of a problem

General Drakkisath is incorrectly a level 62 elite in Classic, rather than a level ? boss as in Vanilla.

It should be noted that in Classic WoW Drakkisath's Conflagration ability does 6000 damage to the main target and 3000 damage to nearby targets. AOE range seems to be about 8-10 yards.
