this is by far an awesome twink shield. get the quest do it, put a +7 stam enchant on it and u have one nasty shiel for ppl to try and break.

great for warriors, pallies and shamans

I would take Redbeard Crest for warriors, but if youre a healer or elemental shaman. This is good choice in twinking.

Best 19 twinkshield, for the alliance - yes. Hordes should pick Deadskull Shield (http://eu.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=3761)

Runic Darkblade is a better choice than 1h + shield in my opinion though.

This is an absolutly amazing item for 19 twink warriors. The best, period. The reason I say this, is because the redbeards crest is under lvl 35, making it only able to recieve 7 stamina. Where as this shield has no requirement, meaning you can get the 18 stamina or possibly even a resilliance enchant!

This is THE best twink shield you can get, if you can have someone run you through BFD to get the quest and help you finish the quest.

Yes, you get the quest at lvl18. Be sure to not have any rested xp, and do this right after you hit lvl18, cause you will get alot of xp, almost one whole level from a run through BFD with a lvl60. And XP is bad for twinks that must reach friendly and honored in WSG.

This is great with +7stamina enchant, it also have almost 100 more armor than the kresh shield

The boos you gett head from is the first before last boss. He is also the guy that drops the really nice blue staff. Good Luck.

BFD isn't just for caster twinks who want the wand.

Clarification:

Both Horde and Alliance can get this quest for the shield.

Alliance can get in Darnassus (BUT you don't have to go there first!) --> Basically, the quest in Darnassus is to find the guy. You find him in BFD. The quest is completed. He already has another quest, to kill the boss Kelris (which leads to your reward of the Gravestone Scepter or Artic Buckler). **Essentially, you do not have to go to Darnassus first.

To find the guy to get the quest (for BOTH Horde and Alliance), whose name is Argent Guard Thaelrid, you have to see where the turtle boss is (Ghamoo-ra) and check the nodes.

Check this link: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/zone=92 and look at where Thaelrid's name is.

You only need to kill Kelris. You can also have the person running you clear everything prior to Kelris. You just need to be there to loot the head.

(You do not have to light/gear the fires. It sends waves for each fire lit and mobs come. That activates the door for the hydra boss. You can just leave after looting the head)

TURN IN: for Alliance, it's the Argent Dawn person at the Craftsmen Terrance in Darnassus.

For Horde, it's at Elder Rise at Thunderbluff.

its a quest obtained at lvl 18 so it can be used as a 19 twink item, but dont worry about XP as u can have someone clear the instance while u chill outside until he gets to the boss's head u need, then u enter catch up and then have ur runner kill the boss, loot the head and ur set with only gaining 100 or so xp, i used this technique on all my twinks and their gear such as leggings of the fang, cruel barb.. so on n so forth

Ok the block is good, and so is the armor, but the stats are terrible for a twink war, maybe a pala could have som use of the +spirit, but otherwise its crap compaired to https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=12997/红须徽记之盾 where you get +strenght (wich adds dubble to Attackpower)...

I mean, what do you need FR for in wsg? for those mages that freeztrap you? Get real, this is a good shield, but its only the second best!

Look here’s a simple explanation why this is the best 19 twink shield.

Since when do you ever need atk power when using a 1h and shield, guess what, almost never.

Both shields have the same amount of stam, but the buckler has 100 more armor than the crest (the amount of block value is probably the same due to the str adding some block value). In addition to the 100 armor, resists as twinks are under rated. And frost resist is by far the best resist to have at 19 if you are running the flag (the other two good ones are nature for root and shadow for fear).

I cant tell you how many times on my 29 where 5 resist from my cape enchant allowed me to escape death.

Why would u not take this chance to get a lvl 29 shield at lvl 18, that Blizz practically gives away? Stats are amazing for shammys and pallys, and relatively high armor can't hurt warriors. Overall, the best shield for this lvl range I've seen on Thottbot so far.

This shield is great. It's the best 19 twink shield for running the flag period. Also for staying alive longer with the extra 100 armor. I use a redbeard in my 1h dps outfit but most of the time I'm in my 1h sta/def outfit or my 2h (glacial stone) dps outfit. This shield is definately a must have any way you put it!

honestly i dont see the huge benefit of GLacial Stone, it only gives 1 dps more than SMite's Mighty Hammer and it doesnt offer the +11 strength or 4 agility. So if your a lvl 19 warrior twink then i would go for the hammer. but if your a warrior i would go for both the Redbeard's crest and arctic buckler. I would use the arctic buckler to run the flag and redbeard's for fightin'

Glacial Stone give 1.3 more DPS then Smite's Mighty Hammer and is chance to hit whit a frost ball(75 damage.

Clearly the guy above me has never made a twink (or a decent one lol). This shield has the same amount of stamina as Redbeard Crest but has almost 100 more armor. Personally I use Arctic Buckler when I am flag carrying as the added armor plus equal stamina provides the perfect defense. When I feel like pwning some hordies I'll switch to Redbeard Crest but Arctic Buckler is very much useful.

Edit: Oh that's right Pallys use shields too and last time I checked they have mana. 8 spirit is not useless.

I'm not quite sure on the stats but last time i looked into it it takes around 20 strength to add 1 to Block (maybe 15 but like I say, haven't looked into it recently).

So the people saying above that the redbeard will add up to equal block value once equipped will not always be true.

I use this on my 19 shaman twink and it's a beauty with an added 7stam. Add in talents for shield benefits and you have an even nicer shield for this level range, certainly imo a better choice than redbeard.

I'm sorry alliance but this post only affects horde.

For the level 19 warrior twink Deadskull Shield and Arctic Buckler are the best.
I have a very good 19 rogue named Razre on shattered hand alliance and I only know of one person in our battlegroup with Deadskull, his name is Demo with a special O. I will be making a twink warrior on Deathwing horde and am contimplating which shield to get. Getting deadskull is extremely risky due to the mass amount of exp. earned while doing the 7 part questline. I'm not sure if I should go out of my way for deadskull.

Arctic Buckler has spirit which will help with health regeneration while running away from a target. I believe it also has more armor/block but I am not posotive, further more on why I feel Arctic Buckler is a better option is the 5 frost resist. This will help me avoid frost slows and novas even if it is only sometimes.

Deadskull Shield has more health but less strength I supose in the end you want health over most stats since health will help you with any sort of attack. Dodge, parry, and armor will only help with melee; block will help with melee/ranged; but health will help with melee, ranged, and spell.

In this post it may seem as if I'm only pointing out obvious things, but in a 10v10 WSG premade battle the best FC is an important statistic.

I thank everyone for reading this post, please reply with your opinion for it will help me decide what to go with or contact Razre on shattered hand.

Best 19 twink shield for palladinds by far..if your making a 19 twink paladin go DWARVEN

w/ 1h 15str, and shield 10 block rating my
my rating is 14.32...pwnage.

w/ Prot i have a 10% chance on dmg to block for next 10 attacks so...44.32% block.

ya this is an awesome shield but nowhere near as good the shield horde 19 twinks can get that has 7 stam. once again alliance get screwed in gear, if you're wondering the horde shield also has 611 armor and 1 strength.

Im making a pure defense lvl 19 warrior twink, whats better to use, arctic buckler or kresh's back? Im adding a +7 stam enchant. And im not going to go for the hillsbrad green one...

Kresh's shield is a piece of crap in comparison, your 19 "defense" twink, will need the stam and extra 200 armor from this shield. But as a warrior Redbeards crest seems nearly as good.

pally twinks yes, same with shams warriors thouh is rly and option, either higher defense and block with the or the red beard crest for the 6 str either way its a rly good shield and very easy to get

Personally as a 19 Pally twink I'm gonna use Arctic with +7 Stam for flag running, and use Redbeards with a spike on it for fighting.

This shield is the best shield for healadins and shammy's, but if you have forest buckler you are just as fine. If your guild has healers enough you can go for redbeard for extra 12 AP.

Actually my shammy 19 had forest buckler because 2 sta and 4 int (60 mana) is pretty good and beats most lvl 15's bleu's with 478 armour and 9 block.

But this, together with girdle of the blindwatcher, has 200 armour more which is huge at 19. As heal/spellbot I have 37 % damage reduction while wearing mostly the best blue cloth, not many mail warrior with 2H out there with more then 1 K armour. The frost resistance CAN safe you if you have + 5 all res on cloak, at 19 10 frost restance does really make difference, read wow-wiki about resistance if you disagree. My guess is 90 % of players don't know how it works so here briefly.

Its either 0, 25, 50, 75 or 100 % resist, the more you have the higher chance you'll have a full resist. Make a + 20 fire resist gear (firebane + enchant) and look at your dots, almost all of them will resist some. Easy as that.

Now I have to shut up because as you might understand I pawn EVERY class including tough rogues, with + 180 healing and + 100 spell dmg ;-) While my left hand heals my viper smashes and my shocks crit over 150. Hail to the new patch hahaha.

I just hope no shammy vs. the rest of the universe forum will be started now.

I know this has probaly been said before but im too lazy to read every post. This shield is best twink shield for shammys and pallys definately, and maybe for warriors. just think of every time you've ran with flag or to get flag and then a mage frostbolts you,then a huge group smashes into you and kills you in 5 sedconds.now that +5 frost resistance can stop you from dying. also you can get a resistance chant that'll add to that.Also its ALOT easier to get than a Redbeard crest. hope this helps some people on their decision :)

I really don't understand why everyone says this is a great twink shield. The 8 spirit isn't very good for a dps twink, 3 stamina is ok but there's better 19 shields with more stamina, so do people use this for the armor or what?

Hey Frolix i decided im gonna make a shaman twink also. i dint know if this matters but hes tauren. any tips on gear for him? i have runic spellthread for him right now ( +35 healing & spell damage +20stamina) and im not sure what else to get him

GREAT SHIELD i use w/toxic revenger as a shaman and i couldnt be happier at my lvl. it is good for any class to use with any 1h weapons.

On the plus side, it's free and has no level requirement (twinks!) On the other hand, I prefer the stats on Commander's Crest (relatively high drop rate) from SFK.

After that either I'd probably go with Marbled Buckler from RFK (I know some prefer the belt reward, both are good for twinks) before moving to the shield from Scarlet Monastery.
