This staff is now the ultimate power in the universe.
50 strength, with talents is 123.6 AP
Add 52 agility
Add 35 more agi from the enchant
and 1110 feral ap
=====
1320 AP
This is the pure DPS counterpart to your EW, Wildfury, or PoF.

Could this be used to replace EW as a tanking weapon?
1) No armor from weapon sucks
- but if Def is not any issue (i.e. you have over 2.6% crit reduction already) so it is just armor your going to loss.
2) +39 stam and 52 agi provide a LOT of Tanking potential via Def, Dodge, HP. I am not good at the mechanics of the game so not sure how much more of everything you gain from these stats.
3) With the added raw AP, added AP from str, and Crit chances from AGI you would do a LOT more damage and hit more often which will help hold aggro.
Just wondering what you guys think.

I don't see why it's innately inferior. If you're at the armor cap this provides more avoidance than any other druid weapon, it provides as much stamina as the (current) best tanking weapon, and it provides more damage than any druid weapon in the game. I admit, it would be hard getting to the armor cap without the 2500 armor, but it's not impossible. Def/resilience is best gotten on other items anyway.
In other words, if you are in very high-quality gear situations this is the best tanking weapon for doing progression content. If you are not, this will be too much of a hit for armor.

This tanking conversation needs to be put to rest. Those saying it's a bad tank item because you'd be hard-pressed to reach the cap without armor on a weapon are right.
Filling every other slot with its max armor item (5/5 t6, heroic badge cloak/wrists/old neck/2.4 ring, kara ring, badge of tenacity, UBRS quest trinket) gemming/enchanting them all for agility, and assuming fully improved raid buffs - using this staff would leave you no more than roughly 1000 armor over the cap. The amount of stats you lose from sub-optimal choices outweighs the 3 stamina, bit of dodge and AP/crit this gains vs Wildfury. I just simulated this set very hastily, maybe you could squeeze some more armor out, but here's an example- including that UBRS quest trinket alone robs you of a spot for 51 stamina, or 36 def/32dodge/use effect. NOT including the UBRS quest trinket knocks off a 1000 armor leaving you right at the cap. This is just one slot... not accounting for the freedom and flexibility you get from not having your enchants/gems/consumables dedicated to uncrittability.
Ultimately, here's the dead end: people with access to 5/5 t6 for such a set-up will be worrying about tanking Sunwell bosses for which stacking stamina is more reliable. This set-up is the opposite of stamina friendly. Being able to put 15stamina blue gems in almost all of your slots is an immense help, as is a high stamina trinket. Threat is a non-issue for those bears, especially with hit/expertise items available, so the AP and crit are LOL.
For people without at least tier 5 equivalent items... you're far away enough from the cap that you'll need the armor, my friends.
So let's drop the tank staff talk. A more interesting question in my opinion is comparing Primal Fury's 315 APen to the ~240AP/neglible crit upgrade Forest Lord provides. How much APen would you need on all your gear to make it competitive? In other words... any reason whatsoever to hang onto Primal Fury once you have this?

This will be the best feral (cat) dps staff in game once it's added.
Anyone want to correct that statement?
(taking away the fact it doesn't add hitrating because you can easily get hit rating cap without a wpn adding hit rating)
Especially for trash mobs/soloing
(Expertise "Might" be required for raid bosses, but in general you're always attacking from behind in cat anyway, so just the % dodge reduce would help but even that is so little...)
As far as not reducing armor of the enemy... anyone want to tell me how much armor a raid boss has?

Its an imba weapon for both tanking and cat form. No armour may make it appear bad at first but who tanks t5/t6 as a feral without a priest or shaman healing them?
Once u hit 30k armour the extra mitigation scales v badly with other stats i know tanks that use part cat gear and t6 very successfully

i am sure that this wasnt really intended on being a tank wpn, more of a "stay alive a lil longer in kitty form" weapon, but as others have stated, if ur crit immune, and have the armor to waste, go for it, more AP, dmg, threat, burns down mobs faster... especially nice for those tanks that like to dps tank kara..lol

I've been thinking about that, too. APen only starts to have a noticeable effect when you're packing close to 500, and Primal Fury puts you close to that number all on it's own. Assuming that you aren't already covered in APen items, I would consider Primal Fury to be equivalent, if not better, and if only because of a) the APen, and b) the fact that it's a lot easier to get.
(Expertise "Might" be required for raid bosses, but in general you're always attacking from behind in cat anyway, so just the % dodge reduce would help but even that is so little...)
Expertise is required for raid bosses. You may only ever be attacking from behind a boss, but that doesn't negate Dodge chance. I don't know what you mean by "so little"; I know that I get Dodge strings on raid bosses, and I've got 20 Expertise rating. Preventing any loss of damage from a Miss or a Dodge is critical to ensuring your DPS stays high, so yes, Expertise is an important DPS stat.
No armour may make it appear bad at first but who tanks t5/t6 as a feral without a priest or shaman healing them?
Then you're relying on a proc to cap your armor, which is ridiculous. Getting to 30000 armor and considering yourself "done" for the purpose of tanking raid bosses is insane. You stack armor to cap, you don't rely on other classes to cap for you.

Given the new Nurturing Instinct (100% of agility = +heal), this staff makes for an incredible PvP item for druids, even without the resilience. It also provides dodge, giving two nice stats no PvP feral weapon can match, since they offer zero agility.
You essentially exchange +hit and resilience for a lot of dodge, more stamina, and more +healing (assuming you have NI).
An excellent choice for druids who don't have the time or dedication to reach 1850 in arenas for the season 3 staff.

How much longer will you actually survive with 2-3% more melee damage reduction agasint a raid boss? Honestly?
I'm not saying this staff is a tanking weapon, I'm arguing the fact that armor cap is not nearly as important as having more stam, more agi, and generating more threat via str/crit.

In my experience, that 2-3% melee damage reduction can mean the difference between living and dying. Honestly. That might sound like just an off-hand response, but it's true. Life and death can be determined by as little as 500 HP.
For a Druid, Armor and Stamina are your two biggest assets. These aren't chance based stats. Pushing them to their limit should be your first goal as a Bear after becoming crit immune.
The fact that we can push our Dodge to levels undreamed of *without relying on procs* is icing on the cake. Not to devalue Dodge-- it's great. But pure mitigation is more powerful than avoidance, so getting as close to the cap as possible while stacking Stamina is what any Druid should start off doing.
The stats you profess are more important than our mitigation-- threat gen stats-- are stats that, by happenstance, Bears end up swimming in due to how our gear is itemized. Our Tier sets have loads of Strength and Agility on them, and many of our Badge reward items do as well. (Not to mention crafted epics and trash drops.) Additionally, our weapons come with a hefty chunk of Feral AP. If you're making a weapon change to favor AP and crit over mitigation, then I can't imagine what the hell kind of gear you're wearing or rotations you're using that would make threat gen a priority over survivability. Frankly, once you're in enough Tiered gear and non-set items (Bands of the Swift Paw, Treads of the Den Mother, Belt of Natural Power, etc), you'll have more than enough AP and enough crit to generate 1k+ TPS, at which point you should consider building Hit and Expertise, the former for better threat generation, the latter for better threat generation and mitigation.
Call it personal preference. I wouldn't use this staff for tanking, and at the gear level I'm at now, I'd rather invest in Expertise and Hit rating when possible versus more crit and AP to up my threat gen, and I'd rather lose crit and AP than +Armor.
EDIT: In case any of this sounds snarky in nature, I'd like to clarify that I mean no disrespect to the author of the quoted text.

wasnt really focusing on the threat aspect of this for tanking more the avoidance ie dodge enchanted its 87 agi which alone is over 6% dodge from this 1 item i would consider that more valuable than 2% less dmg /discuss

This isn't meant to be a tanking staff you are comparing agility and stam on this as vital tanking stats versus raw dodge and armor. While this staff is an obvious upgrade to Earthwarden, the CE rep mace was shamed out of the picture a long time ago.
It's not hard to get a Wildfury Greatstaff or even a Pillar of Ferocity, both of these are superior tanking weapons.
Now with saying that I realise a bunch of casual are going to jump me about the inability to aquire such weapons but the fact stands, this staff is meant to rival S3 feral staff and the ZA staff, a
CAT DPS WEAPON
.

For those of you who keep discussing the attributes of this staff for tanking, you might as well talk about using a healing staff for tanking too. This staff is for dps and pvp (assuming you can get +hit and resilience in other slots).

评论来自

I'm actually still torn over whether this or the ZA staff is the optimal one for DPS.
At this point my conclusion is equivalence between the two, though one will be superior to the other based on what the rest of your gear looks like. For me, the APen of Primal Fury tops the extra (and admittedly substantial) AP and (negligible) crit and Stamina on the Staff of the Forest Lord.
And from a purely aesthetic perspective this hardly looks like something a Druid would wield.

Your theoretical Druid could use this as a Weapon switch for magical damage encounters, such as picking up the Hydross adds, though you could just use the Pillar of Ferocity for that to better effect. However, aside from Hydross, you will almost never have a Druid tank bosses that deal mostly magical damage; that strips them of two of their greatest advantages, which allow them to shine against physical damage mobs.
No, you'd have a Warrior tank those magic-damage dealing mobs instead.

Depending on your gear (and your healer's gear) this can be an fantastic tanking staff for some situations eg farming heroics & karazhan trash. At around 31k armor, I noticed rage generation slowed down significantly in trash pulls and heroic bosses, because mitigation was close to the cap. The solution?
- tank semi-naked (or use lower level tanking armor)
- get a stronger weapon: more attack power = more rage
I'll be glad to loose the armor and gain the attack power from this weapon. I'd much rather have a full rage bar in heroics, than have my healer wasting their uberhealing potential. I suspect we'll complete the instances much faster too.
As an added bonus; if your dps players are less well geared, you'll have a chance of topping the dps charts !!!! (I've seen this happen)
Again, this is situational advice only. I'll always use armor weapons for the hardest hitting fights.

Now that Karazhan is beginning to feel as easy as UBRS once did, this item is highly accessible. When 20+ Badges of Justice are available in around two hours, the Staff of the Forest Lord might be a considerable alternative to the Brutal Gladiator's staff, at least for those who can manage the resilience without the weapon's contribution to the stat. I prefer this weapon for World PvP and for Arenas.
And speaking of the appearance, the staff coordinates with the other blood elf themed items available from the same vendor, and it doesn't look any less ridiculous than the gear coming out of Zul'Aman. We're all looking like Hollywood indians now. I have to put my faith in blizzard that they will give us a more agreeable theme in the future sets.
In my opinion, they never topped the tier 2 sets.

(ofc not counting the 1 drops form SWP,from the twins sisters)
at least for my guild we are yet to gear up full tr6 all raid for fair fight in there).
for while now blizzard have given druids semi dps/tanking weapon in 1,
now finaly this comes out shouting for dsp and crit.the onlt thing it missess is the hit rating (not most important for druid ,but better to have),
the only weapon that can beat this 1 up in dps roll ,is the S3 staff of the vanguel.
this weapon wins overt the pilar and the other staff for ZA with eyes closed and no enchant even (DPS WISE),

This is NOT the best cat DPS staff in the game. The one from the Eredar Twins (...correct?) is. This is the second best.
And who in their right mind would take this for tanking?
Feral druids don't
need
+hit-rating. It's nice to have and usually you'll have a bunch from the rogue leather gear you're bound to pick up, but in the end druids who are going for +hit-rating are wasting itempoints they could spend in +agility for both AP and crit.
Also, I can't understand why people always cream their pants over the Pilliar of Ferocity. That staff isn't useful for anything. No crit, so it's bad for dps and no +agility/dodge so it's even worse for tanking (except maybe certain caster-type bosses, but in most situations those are left to the protection warriors anyway).

hmm, i found it strange to see tanking wise both the gloves and the legs you can get from the new badge vendor are better then tier 6 stats >.> <.< ,
tier 6 does have amazing bonuses, and it might be better dps wise, but it seems weird that all this badge gear that casual raiders even ppl that just do heriocs can attain is equialvalent to tier 6 material,
to the poster a couple posts above me, i admit druids shouldnt stack crit to 200 but neither should u have it at 100
i just got shard of contempt today and maybe that expertise will make it so i dont need 140 hit rating, but 140 is a good number, personaly though the real items i like for dps r the hybrid rings like the one off SSC lurker (+str,+agi,+sta) and the one from exalted shatar
my crit is atm 40% unbuffed ive been using the blue trinket from hellfire because i am obbsessed with crit, maybe i should use the shard more, so i hit less and get the ap boost from attack, but then i wont have 40% crit....
