This questline starts by completing the elemental spirits quest at the Altar of Damnation at the Hand of Gul'dan in Shadowmoon Valley. After completing those, you'll be directed towards Oronok Torn-heart's questline. Upon the completion of this (the final two fights requiring a group), this bow will be one of the quest rewards.

It's a nice bow but the my friend who has it told me it ok! he would rather use his xbow that drop from BWL rather than using this one. So far the best bow that I seen so far are:

Wrathtide Longbow

Yes, its a very long chain quest (starts where: https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10458) but its also the quest chain you need to do for 02 very important attunements on the game so, even if you don´t want the reward but got here looking for it... go do the chain!

The quest chain is long, but most of the quests are pretty easy. So hunters go do it get yourself a nice bow, dont be lazy.

i do have the Valanos' Longbow and i think that is better then this one but im not good at judging those things cuz i use steady shot and i shot one steady shot every 1.5 secund that do 307 DMG + 175 to dazed targets and i use arcane shot that is instant shot so i dont get any out of the speed of 2.8sec that the weapon have that all i think about this one:)

For those of you interested in aquiring this wonderful pre-raid, PvP, etc bow, you are going to do a somewhat long but fairly easy quest chain starting at Earthmender Torlok at the Altar of Damnation in Shadowmoon Valley. He will send you on three quests involving the elementals in the area. Do a search on his name for the quest specifics, this is a general rundown not a tutorial. After you complete those he will send you to Oronok Tornheart at the north end of Shadowmoon. He will then send you on two nearby quests to prove your loyalty and then he will instruct you to seek out his sons around the Valley to recover the three fragments of the Cipher of Damnation. I don't recall specifically how many quests there are but I want to say each son has 2-3 to get the items you need. A search for "Cipher of Damnation" will give you pretty much all the quests. All of it is easily soloable except for two, the very last one where you have to kill Cyrukh the Firelord, and the last one for one of the sons where you must kill Ruul the Darkener. Both are 70+ elite bosses of course, although Ruul falls a bit short of full boss status I think. Cyrukh is a generally a fairly easy fight, Oronok and his two living sons come to your aid and are more than happy to tank for you provided you be so kind as to keep them alive.

As a side note, I sent in a few screenshots of the bow at different angles, hopefully we'll see them posted here soon.

i'm working on this questline right now.. it's a bit disappointing that my gun is better than this bow. it looks nice, but there are higher dps ranged weps in several 70 instances. im using telescopic sharprifle- dropped first time i ever ran mech. imo this is more of an under 70 bow.

This chain starts with the quests you pick up at the alter of damnation. You have to collect earth and fire spirits and it goes on from there. Solo should only take you 2 hrs tops to get to parts of the quest that require groups.

Another guild hunter and I got this bow Saturday night. I dinged 69 killing Ruul.
I can't get the letter turned until 70 thou.
A suggestion, get lots of help. Ruul says group of 3 but I assume those to be 70s. Last boss says group of 5 and I guess 70s again.
So the more the merrier.

There has been mention of 'I got this bow on the (whatever) kill.'

That is only to get the quest bow itself as a quest item. There are many other parts after that that you need to complete before you even get the quest rewards.

There are, as stated above, approximately 23 steps to this quest.

Expect to spend atleast 6 hours questing to get to the point where you are at the last part for the 5 person group to kill off Cyrukh to complete the quest.

I am currently at Cyrukh now. Have wiped many times with many combinations of parties. Will try again soon with one of the combos that we got him almost dead.

Hope this information helps those trying to get this bow.

Did this entire quest line easy with myself (68 Hunter), 68 Preist, and a 68 mage. Yook about 3 hours in total for two blues and a buncha good greens.

This is a very long chain as fore mentioned begining at the alter of damnation. I highly recommend doing the quests for the two brothers on the west and north part of the map before doing the last and if possible get a group and just zerg the chain, its not really all that difficult. Starts at alter just north of wildhammer then goes to the father north of the cistern and then branches out to his 3 sons. I myself got this bow two days ago and am loving it, yes there are better bows to be obtained but this is one of the best that you can get at 68 if you can get the quests done.

As everyone said, the only way to get this bow is through a long chain. The chain starts with a quest called "The Hand of Gul'dan." It is given by Earthmender Sophurus, who can be found on the front steps/entrance to Wildhammer Stronghold...have fun and gl with the rest. Hope it helps.

Being in a low pop server this was a B!tch to get. The first elite u gotta kill the BE on the mount. I had to pay people to get em to come. I was tryin for days to get people to help but alas. FInally on the last quest when u summon the elemental. took me an hour to get a party together. We summon, then Horde show up! 2 guys from my party drop luckily I ran into 3 guys who were doin it. And we finished it. I paid like 45g to people to help me do it. But i figured I can farm that in a day np. The bow was worth it.

For you who are ready to get the bow here's the list of quests you'll be doing:

- The Hand of Gul'Dan. ( Starts the chain and given by Earthmender Sophurus in Wildhammer Stronghold for Alliance and by Earthmender Splithoof in Shadowmoon Village for Horde.)

Then:

When you complete listening to Oronok's tale, you are then given three seperate quests to find his sons. These quests are:

- Borak, Son of Oronok

Each of these quests have thier own quests associated with them:

- Grom'tor, Son of Oronok leads to:

- The Cipher of Damnation-Grom'tor's Charge

- Ar'tor, Son of Oronok leads to:

- Demonic Crystal Prisons

- Lohn'gorn, Bow of the Torn-heart

- The Cipher of Damnation-Ar'tor's Charge

- The Cipher of Damnation-The Second Fragment Recovered

- Borak, Son of Oronok leads to:

- The Bunde of Bloodthistle

After completing all of these quests, you will then get the quest:

Once you have killed Cyrukh the Firelord, the Lohn'goron bow will be one of the rewards.

Not sure exactly what lvl, but i got the qeust(s) at 68, so you should be able to. it doesnt start with ornok, it starts with a guy giving you quests to gather elemental spirits, and then later he sends you to ornok. Im almost done with this quest line myself, and im still only 68, so you should be able to do it, you just might need some help from other people for the actual quests themselves.

Questchain can be soloed at 68 except for the last two guys, Ruul with his dragon (71 elite) and the Firelord (72 elite).

Depending on your dropluck it may be very well the worst questline you've ever done in your whole life - I for example had to pick up around 50 of the foul eggs until the game decided to drop me the questitem, but some guys found it from their first or second egg.

If you're reading this, you're probably a hunter: don't let this bow being a questreward and its low dps fool you. This is one kickass weapon for BM.

all lying in my bank and this bow is still my primary weapon.

Reason is, you'll want a faster weapon for a simple auto/steady rotation, and the faster a weapon is the better, as long as you barely can fit a steady in between autoshots. Most weapons are too slow to use arcane/multi after a steady without delaying the next autoshot. So the closer a weapon speed is to the steady casttime, the less time you spend doing nothing (waiting for the next autoshot). Slap a +10 dmg scope on it, and you can very well use it until you get your hands on one of the 70+ dps epic ranged weapons. Faster weapons profit more from the scope than slower, and you'll not want to waste the expensive crit scope on a blue weapon.

Now the Skyfir Hawk-Bow is probably a bit better, but I prefer the agi (=crit) over hit.

I've visited the 70+ 5mans now a good hundred times (damn beast lord leggings and hourglass just won't drop) and there has only been a single time in my whole life when I was not 1st on dmg but second to a WL, so I guess mostly rotating with steady works, as simple as it may sound.

Now for MM, you lack the 20% haste of Serpent's Swiftness, so rotation becomes way more important, and you'll want to use a slower weapon. Telescopic Sharprifle is the best you can get pre-raid (without grinding your ass off at honor hold) in my optinion, but since the 37 dps bullets are so ridiculousy expensive, you'll want to get the Crossbow from Arcatraz and use the arrows from Cenarion Expedition. No use to keep this bow any longer once you get your hands on one of these, unless of course, for its awesome style.

I took the quest chain at 68 and turned 69 during it. Can be soloed except for the last two guys. Died a few times and had to bandage pet, eat and drink a lot. Most mobs are lv68-70 with 6-7k hp.

Was impossible to find a group for the last parts, so another hunter and myself paid three others 30g each to help. Ruul needs at least a tank and a healer to help, and unless you want to bring down well over 100k hp on your own, one or two more DDs. The firelord has over 300k hp if I remember correctly. Some of the NPCs from the quests before will help during the fight, but they are nonelite so I advice against any party with less than five members to take on him, and make sure you only hire lv70 helpers.

A very cool bow :)and btw: according to Cheeky's Spreadsheet this bow actually does more damage than Val's for a BM hunter (assuming you have very little lag). But it burns arrows a lot faster :,(

Finally got mine - all I can say is , its a VERY LONG quest..BUT in the end you get about 200g (from grinding)
around 1 or 2 Primal Air/Water/Fire (depending on you luck)
and various green drops.
Im a lvl 70 hunter - solo'ed it almost all the way.
I would suggest doing the same , not that hard plus grab the gold.
ONE thing , getting the egg part I also lucked out - found on third try - when returning to Shatt wait.....and watch them all puke ! take the screen shot!

Hey guys,

I looked in my quest log, and i do not have any of these quests. I went to the guy that starts it in shadowmoon village, and he does not give me a quest.

Am I missing something, or am I just the unlucky one that does not get to do this quest chain!

Hardly any posts on the bow itself, all about how to get the quest!

Quest took me 6 hours in total, start to finish. I gained about 50% of my exp bar and around 100g.

This bow rocks, its damage is very nice and give it a scope and you on fire.

But the question still remains, is it worth it?

Well, i got this bow last night after a couple of days running the quests. As stated in previous post's, all the quests are soloable apart from the last 2 bosses, (I'm a 68 BM hunter), and if you had a good run and a flying mount, you can get the first 20 quests done in a few hours. I studied all the posts here, and there are some excellent tips - I advise you to do the same. Big thanks to all that contributed with all the info in these posts.

Yes, it's a long chain, but if you want one of the most stylish bow's in the game, then its worth the effort. I shall stick plus 10 dmg scope on it too :o)

As far as the group elements of the quest, I had some difficulty finding a group to do them - so i hired some help. There was a 70 feral druid that wanted the quest, but i whisped a holy priest, who in turn had a mage friend. We 4 then took down Ruul easily, handed in here, added a 70 warrior to the group and then finally onto the big, bad, boss. A note on the last boss, clear the elementals as best you can before summoning him. Also, i thought that the quest was glitched, as he did not attack for a good minute or so. DO NOT WORRY! This is scripted for the remaining son's and father to come in and help. We managed this OK, the warrior went down once, rezzed and it was plain sailing after. Thanks to Naturemen and the guys from Heroes Fight Like Greek's for the help!

Just got this bow yesterday on my 69 hunter (night elf). I must say that this is a very long quest chain but very worth it for the rewards given. The bow is just awesome looking. It took me about 2 hours to complete all the quests up until I had to kill the two elites. Got lucky on the part you need to snag an egg from the Akkora. Got mine on the first try. As for Ruul, I saw a tauren druid (thanks maxine!) soloing Ruul the Darkener. I helped him down Ruul then typed /wait to the tauren druid. Ruul respawned after a short wait...I tagged him and the tauren druid went to town tanking him. Then for the last part I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. A group was there waiting to summon Cyrukh the Firelord and they asked if I could help. Downed Cyrukh and got my bow. Gotten a ton of whispers about the bow and where I got it from too. If you're looking for an awesome bow with great stats...do this quest chain. Don't even think twice.

According to ratingbuster, this one edges out the Valanos in AP but not crit. However, throw a Stabilized Eternium Scope on it and you get a very respectable bow. Yes, that scope is a chunk of change, but you can AH the mats for reasonable amounts, and money falls out of the freaking sky in Outlands anyway, so why not? And, this bow will turn heads in town, no doubt. Visually, it’s a BIG improvement. If you're not into pvping for your gear, you should consider this a viable alternative to the Valanos, with a little tweaking. Happy hunting!

Every time i look at the caption.. it makes me cry... He will be remmebered! He will live on! I will spread his legacy through all of WoW! I'm not kidding about the Crying part, also, this bow is very good.. aswell as the axe.

yes, valanos' bow is better, but it requires level 70.

the only reason why i spent all day questin for this bow was because i can twink at 69 with it...and i think its the best bow for that job. there are two very comparable bows for pre-70 pvping, but one has +sta and the other +hit rating...id rather have the agility. valanos' longbow is a newb bow anyway, might as well get a pvp bow at 70.

other than that this bow is the ISH
