Be careful when checking out what ring you want. Apparently Blizzard didn't learn their lesson from the AQ rings and when you 'Accept' the quest you get the ring, so don't accept the quest for the wrong one.

This ring pisses me of rojally. Seriously, spirit on a ring that is supposed to fit on four different healers, which of 2 hate the stat?

The caster ring has no spirit, yet mages and priests get a benefit from it, but being sensible the devs obviously thought it would be better to keep off the spirit, seeing that there are Elemental Shamans and Warlocks who would like a free ring as well. But for healers? Nope, I guess shamans should dps and palas should tank.

But hey, I guess blizzard thinks there are no Resto Shamans or Holy Paladins.

If you accidentally chose this quest because the quest giver had four quests and you thought you were going to accept them all and then read them later, then you should post that in this thread on the world of warcraft site to let Blizzard know that choices in items should all be on one quest with four mouse-over options.

Right now Blizzard's response to this item being totally inconsistent with all other item choices in the game is that you can grind you way to exalted and then make the switch. It was easier for them to make you grind for months than to make this choice consistent with every other item choice in the game.

It is true, you can actually switch path. Today I tickted a GM and said I wanted to switch from the healing to the tanking path. He then told me to delete my ring, which I did, and he reseted the quest chain so I could re-pick which ring I wanted. You should try the same

Am I the only one that notices on that website the policy refers to that there is no mention of a 24hr time limit to submit for item restorations?

Also I didn't submit for item restoration but just to have the quest reset back to original.

I had already trashed the dps ring I got (which was the one I got because it was top quest).

Also had I not been in a hurry to accept to get inside or recalled ever any quests before like this where I would be stuck with one path I might have read it.

Anyways still hoping I can get tank ring restored, submitted another GM ticket.

I had a GM tell me tonight that restoration of an item is rare but if I promised not to make any similar future requests, he would escalate it to second level support, and they would assist me tommorrow. He said, leave the original ticket open and someone would get back to me. It seems that 3 out of our group of 10 at Karazhan made similar mistakes.

So, I hope I can trade my Mage ring for a Protector Ring tommorrow. The GM was Drakuleth, so pray you get him. I have never petitioned a GM before, so I don't know if this is a common response or not. I'm grateful!

looks like you get quite a bit just by doing the attunment quest chain.

can you get to friendly this way without having to step in kaz?

no the chain q puts u in 2k/3k nutral and not friendly, but i belive 1 or 2 runs should bring u to friendly.

i think switching it to 1 quest - 4 rewards to choose from would eliminate a majority of the missteps. the front of kara is not exactly the friendliest of places to be sitting around taking your time reading four separate quests.

So, I guess I'm an utter noob (I am not ashamed!) and make the mistake that countless other players have made: I selected the wrong "chain" for the first Violet Signet ring. Of all things, this was on the first night I had ever stepped foot inside of Kara. I was pumped about getting a ring... but stupid me accepted the "caster" line rather than the "tank" line that I was after.

Deleting the ring WILL reset the quest -- but this only allows you to get the SAME RING yet again. Thus, this is pointless.

I opened a ticket and got a grumpy GM who did nothing but shoot generic messages at me. Then all he said was that once I got to exalted rep with the faction, I could exchange it. Trouble here is -- I am not a raider. I went to Kara just because a friend was missing a tank. I hardly even play on this particular server anymore. (QQ, right?)

My thing is -- if you look at all the posts on this page, there's clearly PLENTY of people who have made the same mistake. Yeah, we deserve to not have our loot because we're noobs... BUT... blizz can get a grip and simplify the quest options. Make it ONE quest, then allow us to select our reward at the END. Isn't that how all the other quests in this grind-fest game work?

I take full responsibility for my actions -- I'm the only tank around with a caster ring in the bank, I am sure. But heed my warning -- mess up, and you're screwed. And Blizz will do absolutely nothing to help.

It's a great game... it's a flawed game... but it's stupid things like this that make me want to permanently /camp. Best of luck to all WoW players. :)

I too have made the wrong quest mistake. a group of alliance (I'm horde on a pvp server) came our of kara and immediately started fighting so i clicked the quests with the hopes of getting them all in my quest log so i could res and run into the instance. (7+ of them vs 3 of us, we where not going to win). I got the first one. . . now I'm stuck with it. I opened a ticket and a GM told me pretty much the same thing, i could fix it myself and to QQ. (he also refused to tell me HOW to fix it and insisted i ask around or read the forums, where the Text search is always "unavailable")
the "fix" does nothing but let you continue the wrong quest line.

Hybrid thingy did not apply for me. As a paladin who choose the tankr ing instead of healing one switching was easy. GM destroyed my item and asked me to abandon questchain. And now i am on the right path

As with many of the issues to have resolved by a GM, the main chance of success tends to be.... the GM!

The problem with this quest chain is that we've been trained there are two parts to a quest. Accepting it the first time, then turning it in. This one is a one-shot deal. If you don't read carefully, you choose a ring right away.

All you rude types can respond QQ all you want. The fact is this quest does not follow the mechanics of wow quests, is easy to screw up on, and has happened to lots and lots of players. Good job, Blizzard.

I made the same mistake that previous posters did. I choose the first quest and accepted it instantly assuming that I would be able to take all four quests. It was quite a shock to see the "!" on the quest giver go away after I accepted the first one. It's pretty upsetting to be a tank who ended up with a casters ring.

However, I think there is a very easy way to fix this problem that multiple people are having. When taking the quest to choose between Aldor or Scryers a message pops up that says:

"Warning! Accepting this quest will cause your reputation with Aldor/Scryers to decrease. Are you sure you want to accept this quest?"

If they could have a warning that said something like the following, I think there would be a lot less grumpy Kara raiders:

"Warning! You only get to choose one of these four quests. Are you sure you want this quest?"

Or even simpler would be to have one quest which gave the player the choice between the four rings. Then no one would feel like they didn't get to choose the ring they wanted.

Well congrats to those of you who had a nice GM. I was pleasant and happy and totally believed the GM would take care of me. Nope. Got the standard response mentioned above and was told GMs can't restore quest lines or do anything like that. Then I felt like he was lying to me because I've read on here that GMs have done it and one is even mentioned by name. I pointed this out and he repeated the same BS to me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he told me his supervisor felt the same as he did. It's crap. I honestly, in a hurry due to horde, was going to quickly accept all of those "quests" and after the first realized what happened. It was my first night in Kara and no one told me otherwise.

It's annoying; we have 3 accounts in this house, it my first night in Kara, the quest setup is %^&*!@ed...

They should definitely fix this issue. I was in a raid for the first time and we were leaving via the front door to head over to another entrance. I saw the quest guy and thought i'd grab the quest quickly before following others - needed to be quick or i wouldn't have known where to go.

Now i'm a rogue with a caster ring having to wait for AGES to get to exalted to change it. It really does blow chunks given the normal rule for quests is if you delete them and destroy items you can reset.

Anyone tried a delete/reset + removing WTD/preference files etc?

I plan to ask a GM about this but yeah they should fix it. It is clearly a problem for a lot of people.

I picked the tanking ring,
2 months later i paged a GM and said i wanna change to the healing ring,

he deleted my currect ring and reseted the Q

So i made a different mistake as everyone else, i chose the right ring, but at the time i had 2 other epic rings so i just trashed the ring.

I didnt read or know that you get a new one at honored, rev, exalted. so now i have no ring and it did NOT reset the chain for me like all the above posters said. the quest giver still has a grey ? and wants the first ring as a turn in. so what should i do?

EDIT: i am a total dork, didnt realize it was a quest in my log, and since i chose the right one i abandon and start over and there we go....rofl

If you are a 360 enchanter, I would probably recommned enchanting this ring. It is one of the cheapest echants at that level and will help you continue to level to 375. However, if you have a higher enchant level than this or you like to spend time in Orgrimmar spamming trade channels maybe it is not worth your mats to enchant it.

But hey 12 spell damage for 70g in mats is better than an epic gem.

When you reach exalted, you can change your ring by talking to the quest giver(it will cost you gold however)
