The shield has a fair amount of armor and an okay amount of damage blocked -- that said, if you're finding yourself tanking a lot as a paladin, there are much better options that are probably rotting if you're in a guild that's been doing Naxxramas, yet still runs AQ40 or Blackwing Lair. Strictly for tanking, even the Earthen Guard is better than this.

That said, this is a great paladin/resto shaman shield. Plus it looks awesome.

Kel'thuzad does not wield a shield, this in fact is his headpiece, which apparently works well as a shield.

this is malistars defender and red dragonscale protector, COMBINED.

im a warrior but i just have too say how nice it is too see a high armor shaman/paladin shield :) and yes theres a warrior version, called "The face of Death"

have you guys noticed how the graphics match "Hammer of the Twisting nether", that and this would look so good together :)

Paladins just got a new spell that makes them better for tanking, this should is definately a pally shield now :-)

And until horde gets paladins.... the shammys could use it.

YOu know, for a lvl 60 shield, this thing kicks ass at lvl 70 too! The +healing is great! The only downside is the stats....but not by much. Put an +14int enchant on it and you should be set for healing. 5/5 for me...and I'm a level 70 Healadin ^^

this is obviously a pally sheild - its got + healing AND mana regeneration + the 10 int and stam - excellent for a pally and possibly a shamman but i dont think shammys are as good healers as pallys :)

I love that the highest armor and blocking shield in the game is a paladin/shaman shield rather than a warrior one. Thank you Blizzard for the shot in the arm for us paladins! And I can hear the warrior whining now, "Wah! Paladins are healers... what do they need with this kind of shield! There should be a warrior tanking shield with the most armor/blocking! WAHMBULANCE!"

Answer? Hybrids are more gear dependent than pure-bred classes to be able to accomplish similar things. Just wait till the 25-man high end instance where the hybrids will be more valued for thier versatility than the pure classes are in 40-mans. Tank it? Sure. Heal y'all? Sure. Tank it while I am healing y'all? Sure. DPS? No so sure. :)

imagine earthshield (standard tick of +205 health) with +1183 healing and 6856 armor

Actually, it fits the Redemption Set nicely, both in colour and shape, together with the Hammer of the Twisting Nether (Earthshatter looks somewhat different).
