Note that in order to get the plans to make Sulfuron Hammer, you need to trade in one of these in Blackrock Depths. So unless you have a trusted friend to make the hammer for you, it will cost you 9 total Ingots.

If you have this item in your inventory, the dialogue of Loktos Darkbargainer, the Thorium Brotherhood NPC in the Grim Guzzler in BRD, changes. He says:

"A Sulfuron Ingot?!??! Impossible! I must have it! I must! I must!

<race>, I am authorized to make you a grand deal for that ingot. Perhaps you would be interested in knowing the secrets of the Hand of Ragnaros? Sulfuras, idiot! The legendary hammer of the Firelord. "

You may then choose the dialogue option,

"Hrm, I'm listening. What is this offer?"

to which he responds:

"In exchange for one Sulfuron Ingot, I am authorized to grant you one copy of the plans to forge a Sulfuron hammer.

"Now, an adventurer like you is probably thinking to <himself/herself>, "Well, what would I ever need a hammer like that for when what I already own is far superior?

"Well let me tell you, <mister/missy>, there ain't nothing more superior than what the Sulfuron Hammer can become!"

Player is then offered the option to respond,

"You've got my attention."

Loktos: "You see, all you gotta do is forge the Sulfuron hammer, and find yourself the Eye of Sulfuras. Combine the Eye of Sulfuras with the Sulfuron hammer and it will become Sulfuras! Now, I'm not going to bog you down with any technical information as to where or how or when you can get an Eye of Sulfuras. I'm sure you'll figure that stuff out. Just sign this here contract so that our agreement is binding and our business will be done."

The player may then respond, "Give me the contract".

There is then a rather dramatic greenish animation, similar to the anti-magic fields used by mobs in SFK and Stratholme, and the quest starter appears in your inventory.

Used in the Sulfuron Hammer recipe, go look it up on allakhazam (9 sulfuron ingots, 20 dark iron ingots, 50 arcanite ingots, 10 fiery and 10 lava cores and the list goes on)

This is a key component in crafting the first legendary weapon in World of WarCraft: Sulfurian. It is Ragnaros' Legendary Hammer, but its reagents cost a total of over 6,000 gold.

the guild may have decided that the one who makes the mace get all regents, becouse a guild is suposed to cooparate in instances! so it is possible to get the mace within a year!

Every post here is flawed.

Technically, it only requires 8 Sulfuron Ingots, 9 if you can't find someone who can make it (need to turn in 1 for the plans).

50 is the number of Arcanite Bars it takes, which is totally different from a Sulfuron Ingot.

Ok.. just to clear things out.

You need to create the Sulfuron Hammer first. Then you combine the Sulfuron Hammer with the Eye of Sulfuras to create the legendary weapon.
Any Blacksmith can create the Sulfuron Hammer and the rep with TB has nothing to do with it.
All you need are the plans. To get the plans, you need 1 Sulfuron Ingot (drop from Golemagg, Drop rate is pretty low im raiding MC each week since sept 05 (january 06 now) and we only have 2 ingots so far) and you have to talk to the guy from TB in the BRD bar.
Once you give him the ingot, he gets a boner and the plans to create the Sulfuron Hammer.

The mats for the Sulfuron hammer are:
8 Sulfuron Ingots, 50 arcanite bars, 20 Dark Iron bars, 25 essences of fire, 10 blood of the mountain, 10 fiery cores and 10 lava cores.

In order to create the legendary weapon, you need another legendary drop from Ragnaros (The eye of Sulfuras). The eye of Sulfuras also have a really low drop rate (05% or so).

The damn item dropped 1 time from Rag and I was not on the run =(

9 Ingots is alot.... 8 weeks if you are lucky................ transmuting of arcanite is 48 hours for 1 person.... so lets say it takes 2 weeks to get all that.....

Basically the en result is that you would have to make a big commitment to get it.....

i have only seen 1 person with it.... I am on Illilan server.... and that mace sticks out like a sore thumb.... you are like a god to wheeld that

can the origional sulfuron hammer be sole bound before you add the eye? or does it have to be untouched?

Yes, the Sulfuran Hammer can be soulbound before you apply an Eye of Sulfuras to it. You have to get a blacksmith to do it, and it works like when you enchant a piece of gear or put Mithril Spurs on it.

Furthermore, if you use the Eye on a Sulfuran Hammer that hasn't been soulbound yet, it will soulbind automatically! You cannot under any circumstances dream of ending up with a Bind on Equip Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros. Blizzard is not that stupid.

Finally, if you're a blacksmith reading this and wondering whether you could apply the Eye, you can be relieved in the fact that no perticular type of blacksmith is required. Even armorsmiths can do it.

Hope this sheds some light on this grand daddy of legendary weapons.

I got an alt that has BS and I dont know if it can get the recip to make hammer for my main, but anyhow.

Well you need an ingot from Golemagg so you better be 60 or have a good MC guild and join them at 59.

You have to run MC to get the mat for the quest so yea you should either be a REALLLLLLY ubered 59 or a 60. but unless your alt has BS 300 hes not gonna be able to do it.

Just farm for most of the mats dude, that's what I'm doing, I already got the 20 Dark Iron bars, 16 arcane crystals, 6 essence of fire, and a blood of the mountain. it's not that hard to get.

I got the eye 3-4 weeks ago and I have a guild that does MC in one night. I tell you the drop rate on those stupid ingots is damn low *cry*. I have 2 of them but they were bought from other guilds. I have to put a lot of effort into it but it`s Worth cauz when i finish i WILL be the ONLY SHAMMY on the server to have that!

Mortis Ominous was very lucky, we had 2 eye drops one after another, I wasn't on the run when the first eye drop, but rag was felling generous and give me the seconde one in the next MC run a week after the first drop.

what's the drop rate on this, is the 10% listed here accurate? if so you need 9 of them to make that hammer (1 for recipe) so it'd take 90 weeks of farming MC every week just to get one hammer. thanks blizz for spitting us in the face.

10% doesn't sound accurate.

50 Arcanite bars, heh. Might want to roll a alch alt for that.

If your guild gets 9 of these over a period of 3 months (more or less, depending on your luck), that alt would have made enough bars for the hammer. You'll need 9 ingots as 1 needs to be used to aquire the plans.

The Sulfuron Ingot is used to make the Sulfuron Hammer. The plan has been found in the test patch files as shown at http://wowtest.tripod.com/index.html There is a report that you get the plan by turning in a Sulfuron Ingot to Lokhtos Darkbargainer in the BRD bar. The stats of the Sulfuron Hammer are:

Sulfuron Hammer 2H Hammer (143-239) Speed 3.00, Proc: Hurl fiery ball for 83-101 fire + 16 damage over 8 sec., Level 60, 63.7 dps, (Epic)(Sold by Lokhtos Darkbargainer in BRD bar for 1 Sulfuron Ingot)
- 8 Sulfuron Ingots, 20 Dark Iron Bars, 50 Arcanite bars, 25 Essence of Fire, 10 Blood of the Mountain, 10 Lava Core, 10 Fiery Core

Well that hammer sure is good, but I wouldn't say that it's all THAT worth..

It's damn hard (and takes alot of time) to get all those stuff.

I managed to get all the mats except the Sulfuron Ingots all by my self, the ingots are impossible though, no one sells em.
Besides you don't really need 9, there is most probably a BS on your server that can make it for you.

Well the Eye dropped of Rag this week(for the first time) I won it, but the guild only has 7 ingots :(...just waiting for the last one...the rest of the mats took me about 1 week to buy.

It is True that you use up one ingot to learn the recipy(Blacksmiths that is) But you could buy the services of somebody who already learn it, costing what 50g?....saving you an ingot worth like 500-1000g. Of course they must be trustworthy for you to hand over 2000g+ worth of mats.

These used to drop every time we killed golemagg, but once we killed Ragnaros they basically stopped dropping. Theres another guild on our server that has only seen 2 of these since they killed Rag months ago. Has anyone else noticed a change in the drop rate off golemagg once you kill Rag?

You will get what you need eventually, my guild has 4 of these legendaries, 2 warriors, 2 pallies.

Most guilds starting out borrow from other guilds to craft their hammer.

To all you people that think this stuff is so hard to get:

If you are on your own, then it is really hard to get, but then you won't get the eye in the first place.

If your guild gets the eye from ragnaros you have been playing quite some time and 50 arcanite bars and the rest of the stuff really isn't that hard to get. The only thing i may miss this sunday (a week after i got the eye) is one ingot, since we only have 8 in the guild. If the ingot drops this sunday i am allmost certain i will have made the hammer in one week.

you don't make the Sulfuron Hammer because it's a good weapon. The reason to have one of these is to make Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros once your guild is able to optain an Eye of Sulfuras. Almost anything is worth this hammer, it's the best 2h weapon in the game and having one is a great source of pride for a guild.
