I think Blizzard changed the weapon skill mechanic just so a level 44 BOE mail epic wouldn't be the ultimate end-game item for fury warriors any more.

I found it rather amusing, but I guess that's just me.

The mechanic has been changed again, it has been seriously buffed since dieselgirls post. The gloves now have "weapon skill rating" so that they have 5 weapon skill at lvl 60 instead of 10 (or whatever they had previously).

Got some of these today (Post 2.3), while farming an Azure Dragonwhelp. Didn't find my whelp, but did get these.

Before 2.3, these things were pretty much garbage; post 2.3, I say these are undeniably the best mid-level epic piece available. 19 hit rating at level 44 is pretty high for that level (probably 3%-4%) and the 17 weapon expertise puts these babies at 4.25% chance for the enemy to not dodge or parry your attacks. I wouldn't recommend it for a fury/arms warrior if they enjoy Overpower, but would definitely say it's a great pair of gloves for a Ret Pally or an Enhancement Shaman. Also, for their level, the armor on the gloves is also notably very near plate quality of items near the Level 44 range.

Since the 2.3 patch, these are also a good choice for Hunters. The + Hit on these applies to ranged weapons. That's a lot of chance to hit on things a few levels higher whether in PvP or PvE. That translates into mana savings and more effective PvP work. The Expertise also helps when forced into melee with Raptor Strike or just trying to Wingclip to get distance. I have them on my hunter and they work very well. I know that Hunters have the reputation of wanting any gear, but these do seem effective.

I just got these as a drop off of one of the flower-plant mob things in Un'goro Crater. Pretty bad when you get an epic drop before the quest is complete XD droprate for that quest sucks. :/

These are awesome for a mid-level enh shaman or ret pally. I plan on having my boyfriend enchant them with +str or +agi and then throwing them up on the AH :)

I'm a hunter and these dropped when i was runnign BRD, i got them (no other mail users about) and had put a 24+ AP on em (got a main with pots of gold =p) and they are really good. As some people have said the +hit is good and the expertise is great when your trying to wingclip that nasty warrior =p

great for hunters and shammies and i doubt ill be replacing them soon.

the only problem is that on my server they sell for big bucks in the AH. So i would recomend not buying them, but if they drop snap em up

Best Levelling MS Warrior Gloves Ever. Do Not Replace Before 70.

These gloves are literally irreplaceable until 70 (or technically 68, when you can do https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/quest=10345 and get https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=30341).

Buy them. Put a +15 strength enchant on them. Do not take them off.

It doesn't matter how hard you hit if your hits don't land. And if your hits don't land, you get no rage.

While levelling you will constantly be dealing with mobs of various levels. You'll often be subject to absurd Parry/Dodge/Miss strings that not only leave you rage-starved, but may well get you killed. The only thing you can do to fix this is stack hit and expertise. This single piece of gear has both, in large amounts, in a single slot. You will not find this quantity of expertise and hit on any useful combination of gear before 70, so just do it.

Not that bad for a fury spec warrior, really (apart from the mail AC). My warrior screw-around alt will be dual-wielding axes or swords indefinitely, so another level and a half of weapon skill on either would certainly do some good for grinding out XP against higher level mobs.

I love how I'm sitting here reading about the best dual wielding fury warriors DPS gloves in the game and people are DEing them and selling them for insanely low.

Idealy IIRC for best results in raid DPS for dual wielding you need +15 to weaponskill or so and no more then 19% crit + 1% for every +1% to hit on your gear

to an extent, theres also some signs of a soft crit cap due to glancing blows being uncrittable hence the desire for + weapon skill as it seems only weaponskill actually reduces the frequency of glancing blows

Each point of weapon skill you have over your opponent's increases your chances to crit and hit by 0.04%, and reduces your opponent's chance to block, parry, and dodge by 0.04%. Effectively you can consider it to be the inverse of the defense skill.

In addition, against mobs that are two or more levels above you, you will have a chance to land a glancing blow instead of a normal hit. A glancing blow may not crit and has a damage reduction proportional to the weapon skill to defense difference. Weapon skill reduces the severity of the damage reduction, not your chance to land a glancing blow.

For example, against mobs three levels above your own, with 300 weapon skill approximately 40% of your swings will be glancing blows, and the damage for those will on average be reduced by 30%. With +5 weapon skill, you will see the same amount of glancing blows (40%), but only 15% damage reduction. With +10 weapon skill, the damage reduction becomes negligible.

Actually... Edgemaster's handguards are by FAR, EXTREMELY FAR, the best PvE raiding gloves. It's about 4 time stronger than gauntlets of annihilation.

For bosses and level 63+ mobs, these are the best DPS gloves in the game for Warriors, period. Nothing else even comes remotely close.

It's funny that two years after release, people still don't see the value in +weapon skill. In my previous guild, I was the MT and was trying to extol the virtues of +weapon skill to the DPS Warriors in my guild, especially by grabbing a pair of Edgemaster's. They explained to me that the gloves are trash and that I should just shut the @#$% up and stick with tanking, and leave the DPS'ing to the DPS Warriors.

Lawl. That same day, one of the DPS Warriors in our guild completed his Warblades of the Hakkari set and got the +6 sword skill bonus. His glancing blows doubled in damage. They all quickly realized that they're idiots.

I quit the guild a couple days later.

Of course, the Hakkari Warblades are mediocre weapons, so you don't want to rely on them for the weapon skill bonus. Get two real 1h'ers and then strap on your Edgemasters. The weapon skill bonus on Edgemaster's will FAR surpass whatever stats you may have lost for wearing them.

Long story short, if you're a dual wield Warrior, get the Edgemaster's. They're the best DPS gloves in the game against raid bosses and high level mobs.

Saw a hunter wearing these in HFP, laughed hard at her.
Why i hear you ask? Because A) There are much better gloves out there for hunters at lvl 63.
B) Almost all her gear was Stam/Strength.

I picked these up on the AH for 45g.
Dragonscale Gauntletscost anywhere from 30g-40g at average on my server. Leveling a shaman, you dont get any +hit% until mid to late 40s anyways. When fighting mobs 1-3 levels higher than you, unless you use pure magic (which gets resisted quite a bit) you always see a lot of your attacks miss dodged or parried. I had these on my warrior back when weapon skill and glancing blows were a big thing, and they proved to be a viable part of my gear. I think these, giving that there is no AP or stam, are still VERY good for the level and should carry you to atleast 60!

Really nice for any dual wield character.

If u are horde and u combine it with the quest reward "rune of the guard captain" ( https://www.wowhead.com/tbc/item=19120/卫兵队长符文 ) u will have 27 hit rating and that is a very good probably to hit for that level.

The near 2% chance to not be dodge or parried is a very interesting.

Got this from the AH, spent a lot of money for them, but well worth it. Slapped a 15strength enchant on them for my shammy, helps a lot, one thing that sucks as an enhancement shaman is your slow weapons to miss or be dodged, this helps both.

Now, bare in mind a lot of the "these are sh*tty gloves" posts were before they were altered.. the old stas were plusses to skill ratings for axes swords, and spears(I belive, not too clear on the last one its been a while)..

but now that they've changed things to expertise ratings.. these gloves are actually pretty amazing. +19 hit rating.. +17 expertise rating is amazing.. and I happened to just buy them for 22g, with a +15 str enchant.. not too shabby at all..

so in summation.. NOW they are excellent gloves, but prior to their "respec"(of sorts), yes they were pretty lame..

Dropped for a guilie and I off a Deadwood Pathfinder in southern Felwood. He was a lvl 60 pally, so he passed them to me (56 warrior) and they are now on the Ironforge AH, Lothar server because despite the wonderful purple text, they pretty much suck. Happy bidding! I need the $$$

BTW: I overcame the temptation to mail them to my low level hunter alt, just for the "purple factor" If they don's sell, I smell a DE coming on...heard stories of 3 large radiant(or brilliant?) shards dropping off of it, not bad at all. I'll get my money/use out of them one way or another. I am not pissed about the drop, they will prove useful.....just not on any of my toons...

ANY of you who say these are horrible are just plain ignorant. Period. These are the ABSOLUTE BEST lvl49 bracket twink gloves for any class that can wear them and does dps. At that lvl you will roughly get about 7-8% to hit your target and another like # to you parry skill/rating. If you don't realize how much of a dps boost those numbers will get you, then learn what game mechanics are about. Throw on +15agi and there is simply no argument at all to whether these are the BEST gloves for the 49bracket. I've been starving for a pair of these on my 49 enh shammeh twink. No luck yet.

I was levelling my paladin's lagging weapon skills the other day, and I noticed something: his seal of light would barely proc until the skill of the weapon he was wielding had reached 20 (or was it 15 ? 25?) points below its maximum. As soon as it hit exactly that number though, the proc rate went up like crazy... That happened with the 3 weapons he was practicing with.
So I'm guessing these gloves in combination with proccing weapons or skills should be mighty nice, especially against an opponent who upped his/her defense a lot. Pity it doesn't affect 2-H weapons :-P
Has anyone else done some more rigorous testing on this ?

Note that all the +7 weapon skill stats were changed to +17 weapon rating with the patch. By the conversion rate "Weapon Skill Rating 2.5 rating grants 1 weapon skill", if that can be trusted, this has roughly the same skill modification that it had before the patch.

Theories are nice, but I'd be curious to see someone comment on how these feel post patch.

Against Bosses these are better than Guantlets of anhilation for a DPS melee class on a boss. Doesn't affect 2 handers though. Do not DE these there is bound to be a warrior out there who will pay very well for these.

Equip them for a boss, wear your normal gloves for trash.

those 7 Weaponskill give you an 9% chance to get an glancing hit, instead of 30%!

For me this means 10DPS more on an Fight against mobs with level 63 (or bosses)

Ofc useless in PVP or against level 60 mobs, but as soon as the mobs bekome higher, the glancin hits take over to suck all youre nice crits and normal hits up.

These things are hot for raid damage.. I'm using a SR atm, and i'm wondering if the +7 axes effects 2H as well. Can anyone confirm or deny this? with the +5 axes orc racial thats +11 axes, which is incredible on high level raid mobs. I jsut don't want to drop 100g to find out.

Blizzard is changing +weaponskill so that it no longer lessens the amount of damage lost due to glancing blows, but it now adds .1% crit per +weaponskill instead of the .05% that it added in the past.

These gloves are now worthless compared to how godly they used to be. Sell them now before the nerf patch comes and they become useless.

Yeah, they kinda suck, but they were a gift, my first purple, and no alts that could or would be caught dead wearing this.... Since my main lives up to her namesake, I did the dumb thing and equipped it.

Know I shoulda put them in the AH, but the purple factor was too much...as I cavort through SW on my out-of-season reindeer....

It's funny how our knowledge of how stats work in the game has improved over the past year or more. All the old quotes of "these suck" and "DE'ed them" must look pretty silly now given that these are the best DPS gloves in the game for a Dual Wield Warrior in a PvE boss fight.

Skills like +weapon skill and +defense make a huge difference. When a boss is level 63 you will be at a distinct disadvantage when DPSing. The +7 weapon skill on these gloves will really help close the gap. These gloves will help your hits perform better through loosing less damage on glancing blows, therefore they scale well with other high-end kit.

It was a nice surprise, i came to feralas to do the equinox staff quest, i accidently aggroed a windcaller, almost died because my minion was bugging out. But, it is the first epic ARMOR I've seen drop. Too bad i dont have any charactors that can use it, my pally's up to 70 and my other 2 charactors are mid 20's

I agree that these are not the best. However for a dps warrior who is dual wielding- these are very nice. The people that say these are *!@#ty are a) a paladin or someone who cannot use these, b) just plain stupid and don't know what dps means in the first place c) had a chinese gold farmer level their charcter to 70. So. Anyways i have a 56 Paladin on Gul'dan.. it's a shame that these are so hard to sell because they do function great as an epic for a dps warrior! Not a lot of people get it i guess and until blizz adds more stats then these will remain one the the most underestimated items of wow. Icemail Jerkin does suck, and these however- do not.

These are BIS for meme race warriors (non human/orc) and here's why:

Without weapon skill, warriors need 9% hit to never miss a boss with yellow abilities. With weapon skill they only need 6% BUT that's not all; with higher weapon skill you will have a lower damage penalty for glancing blows. Also, if you had 9% hit then got these, you can switch out pieces for more crit or higher strength instead. If you are aiming for top parses you need to either be human/orc and use swords/axes OR be any race and use Edgemaster's.

Over 305 weapon skill has a big drop in effectiveness so if you're human and are already using swords you don't need to bother with these. As an orc I got these anyway because there aren't many axes in the game at this point/they aren't dropping for my guild (P3).

These are great for non-Orc/Human warriors (commonly referred as 'meme races' in classic). But this item is stupid expensive on most servers, and are a bit overrated...

Don't get me wrong, it's an insanely good item, but there's a few good alternatives for this item that won't burn a ~5k gold hole in your wallet and will still allow you to perform well in raids DPS/Threat wise.

The easiest to get option is 沼泽鳄皮腰带, which drops off 克罗卡斯 in Dire Maul North. It's arguably one the best options for weapon skill gear because belts have little stat budget anyway. Tanks can use it and a strong dagger like a 熔火犬牙 for threat tanking and won't notice the loss of tankiness from using a leather belt. Fury warriors can also use the belt and two good daggers to take the 'Rogue in Plate' meme to its logical conclusion. There's also 混乱匕首, 古代熔火皮手套, and 躁动梦境头饰, but these are much harder to come by, especially 躁动梦境头饰 since it's a world boss drop. You also face stiff competition for these because these are very good (arguably BiS level) for dagger rogues and warrior tanks with threat builds.

Horde warriors can also opt to get a 黑曜石之刃 and spec 2H fury and still deal solid DPS (or use any of the 2H axes from BWL and AQ40 if orc). 削骨之刃 is also a really strong option due to its overpowered proc. You are more dependent on getting Windfury Totem from a shaman than DW fury, but the payout is still huge.

Lastly, there's 采金专家的头盔. You lose out on being able to use some of the best helms in Classic such as 狮心头盔 or 无尽怒气头盔 with it equipped and are pigeonholed into using axes. But you can make up for LHH with a 泰坦护腿 as of Phase 5. Axes also have less loot competition than the other weapon types, and Phase 5 adds two axes from rep related quests in the raid zones which are good BiS options (神圣其拉战斧 and 坚定力量之镰).
