This item is the reward from a long series of quests that begins in Un'goro Crater. There's a wreckage of a boat in the southeastern part of Un'goro, in the lake where all the Ravasaurs hang out. Loot an item from the wreckage and it will start the quest chain.

The Legend of Zelda homage is unmistakable, and each quest in the chain is lots of fun.

To start the chain for Linken's Boomerang head to the raft at 63,68 and pick up "The Mysterious Bag" and start "It's a Mystery to Everyone". Deliver it to Linken in Marshall's Refugee and start the quest line.

The Boomerang is notable in that it is the only ranged attack paladins can use as well as being a LoZ homage.

I do not reccomend that anyone should bother to get this item. The damage it causes it low, and while the proc may look very appealing, it procs are extremely rare. When I had it I would use it every time my opponent got out of range and it would only proc about once every five or so battleground matches and only about once per two or three instance runs.

I could see this getting a fair amount of use by a paladin as a tool for pulling, as long as they are not specced for holy shock. However, the 3 minute cooldown makes it less useful than it seems.

I keep it in my inventory just for kicks, and I would only get rid of it if I was extremely desperate for room in my bags.

It is a pretty good trinket for the level you get it at. For non Ranged classes it can help you pull every few minutes without using ammo. It's much more useful on PvP servers and in battlegrounds. The disarm doesn't seem to proc much but the stun procs fairly often. Often enough to be worthwhile in attempting to use it to stop runners.

Note it has a 0.5 cast time and 3 minute cooldown.

Blizzard should fix it's tooltip damage or so..113-187 damage..but when i try..70-90+ damage..Is it based on the strength you have ?Cause i am a lock.But i find it a fun item

do this quest line! i did it on my 53 rogue, after all the parts and the little bit of grinding u have to do in felwood, it roughyl 60k experience, def worth doing :D plus zelda is bada$$

Great for pulling too, or stop runners (tho the chance for stun is small, its still damage and at no cost but a cooldown)

One important thing to note about this trinket is that it isn't affected by the global cooldown - I make use of it as an affliction warlock by chucking it while casting DoTs, you can easily get the 0.5 sec cast in between two of your instants. Damage is low, but if it procs a knockdown you're laughing.

Definately worthwhile for us Paladin.

The power of the boomerang is irrelevant, the fact that we have a ranged attack should be enough motivation to do this quest.

Pulling targets has never been easier for us :)

This item is a reference to Link's (Legend of Zelda) Boomerang. As is the whole questline. Link suffering Amnesia, etc, are all parts of the series.

He does not forget any thing he remembers it all but he has to return the sword. because in the next game (after QoT) he is in MM and hes looking for sara but he ends up in this crazy plot but he always starts some wheres new i wish they will make a game that tells the real story and keeps on going.

In un'goro crater theres a kodo named dodango wich was the name of the boss in Zelda: Ocarina of time in the Dodgadongo caverns

obviously the linken boomerang is a knockoff of links boomerang

and theres a quest in un'goro crater where u have to retrieve a chunk of meat, this is similar to the original zelda game and the vendor u buy the meat from says "buy something, will ya?" wich is what the vendors said exactly in the original zelda games.

so i think the creators of WoW were also fans of Zelda wihc i find intersting

if u know of more zelda refrencess in the game post them cause id like to hear about them

Legend Of Zelda:

--Linken sounds like Link - the main character
--You always start out with a Training sword/Wooden sword in the game
--In Legend Of Zelda: Link To The Past a Dwarf tampers/improves your sword (The dwarf near the springs)
--There was a lake where if you threw in an item the farie would improve it, if it was a certain item.
--In the first LoZ you used a raft
--There is a map and a compass, of which you can find nearly any dungeon in the game. Also a lion-head key, which you use to unlock doors.
--The bag where you find the objects looks JUST like a bomb-bag
--The Kodo next to him sounds like Dodongo
--On the start to the quest to kill the elite, it's a quote from the old man in the first LoZ
--Linken's boomerang is an item in LoZ (Boomerang)
--The improved sword is like improving the master sword, of which you do in Wind Waker. The Master Sword improved (Wind Waker) also glows just like the sword in this game

I'm not done with the quest series yet, so I'm sure there's more.

--The faded photograph that you find in the bag eventually shows you Link and Zelda standing in front of Hyrule Castle (Stormwind)
--In order to get the imrpoved sword you have to put the sword into the grave and then a green light goes over it and you remove the sword - much like you did in Ocerina of Time (and a bit like all the other games. Looks like OoT the most)

I will agree that the trinket isn't very useful to most classes, but speaking for a class that has no ranged attack (except for a talent), this trinket is a wonderful addition to a paladin's arsenal.

This trinket is awesome for druids because you can use it in cat or bear form! so if you don't have feral faerie fire you can pull mobs without shifting out of animal form :)

hey, wouldnt this be good for a pally? seeing as if you are not holy speced this is the only way to pull anything besides avengers shield (prot talent) but that affects multiple targets which is most of the time the reason you are pulling o.O so you only pull one. if there is a better item for paladin-pull someone tell me. cause so far this thing pwns

Fantastic for paladins whenever you need to pull a mob that is on top of another one of different family (as in, second one won't get pissed that first one got hit). Proc rate not known.

Disarm = 10 seconds
Stun = 2 seconds.

Akirina, you're source isn't very reliable. As of 02/05/2005, the quest is still working.

And it's only one of the rewards, you also have a choice of a sword or orb. Check out the quest, very nice stuff.

How often does the boomerang proc and disarm or stun your opponent? With a cooldown of 3 mins you won't be using it more than once per fight likely.

Just got this trinket on Lothar and I must say, as a Paladin, this fills a huge hole and really is a nice surprise in duels and PVP.

When it stuns or disarms, people are just shocked :D

ZELDA TRIBUTE QUESTS: This is only available when you reach level 47. Head to Un’Goro Crater and in the marshlands you’ll find a wrecked raft and a faded photograph. This find will initiate the quest “It’s a Secret to Everybody” (a quote from the original Legend of Zelda).

There is a Link counterpart in Marshal’s Refuge named Linken, whom you’ll be helping find his lost memories. This quest has you trekking all over Azeroth completing a chain of 13 tasks. Eventually the trail will lead you back to Un’Goro and the final part of the quest, “It’s Dangerous to Go Alone”.

The next tribute can be found by beating Blazerunner at Fire Plume Ridge. Blazerunner is a level 56 elite (we whupped him by pairing up with a paladin and casting Fire Resistance Aura, then having another party member use the Silver Totem of Aquamentas to take down Blazerunner’s protective shields). After he’s beaten, pick up the Golden Flame in the back of the cave, which looks like a piece of the Tri-Force. Now return to Linken in Marshal’s Refuge and claim your reward--Linken’s Sword of Mastery and Linken’s Boomerang.

This is a great trinket trinket for a pally that needs to pull occasionally when going alone, but for some reason, I seem to have lost mine, and the GM says he can't get it back or reset the quest chain, does anyone know of anything similar a pally could use for pulling? and the cooldown is 3min

No one's mentioned Miblon, the gnoll you have to give the bait meat to.

In the first LoZ, in two levels there is a creature (A goraya) that will not let you pass through a room unless you give him something to eat (and the text says GRUMBLE, GRUMBLE)

Also, the name Miblon is an obvious spoof on Moblin, which are I dunno, mostly gnoll-like and shoot arrows at you. In Wind Waker they also carries swords and sticks and stuff.

This is the end of a long string of quests that take you all over. It starts in Un'Goro, with a backpack in a small pond near a small wrecked boat, in the Ravasaur area.

Cooldown on the trinket is 15 minutes.

it leaves out the fact that you cannot use this if someone is on you, it has a minimuim range. it also has a 1sec cast time, so you cannot cast it while moving. the damage is laughable, and without being able to cast it melee/moving, the only real use of this device is to pull with it as a paladin. you might use it to frag runners, but every class(now including paladins), can kill people running away. as engineer, I'd much rather have my Death Ray equiped then this, but even without engineering, this really isn't worth dropping guardian talisman for, or mark+talis. you'd be much better off letting someone else pull, and keeping your 350armor proc.

Yeah, ungoro crater has so many parodies. Of course they have linken and other LoZ baddies, they have Lariom and Muigim (parody of Mario and Luigi, waging war like in the classic mario bros.), and the entire ungoro crater looks as if it is straight out of Jurrassic park (even if it couldve just been meant to be a prehistoric area). I keep finding new ones every day (the escort quest with the two goblins are apparrently a parody of a book according to a guild member).

It's been a while since he's done this but a guy I was talking to apparently used this to wipe raids that were rude to him. Apparently hitting someone with this would cause them to point at you for just a second. I'd imagine that they'd've fixed this but still, if they haven't, best shenanigans tool ever

But... If you don't want to do the quest chain - and you're a Pally who really wants
to be able to 'pull' - use EZ-Throw Dynamite.

One of the most often over-looked items at the AH - this item was designed for Pallies.
(Or get an Engineer friend to make some - it's cheap!)

If does more damage, and is not expensive.
I've used it while leveling my Pally since he was a baby. (Level 10)

Very funny trinket, doesent proc to much but when it procs good for me :)
Usefull in world PVP but only when proc.
I find it funny.
Very long chain and it takes time to complete it but its posible for 56 lvl rogue.
