No mana cost, instant, good damage, knock back, and mana gain,this is a worthy 51 point talent. It increases the longevity of Elemental Shaman in raids with its reasonably short cooldown.

I could also see a nice little AoE for Shamans. With AoE from Fire Totems + stun and pets in dangerous situations...adding this spell and the spaming chain lightning on mobs will work great. Can't wait to try it out. Also this is good in raids if you get aggro by mistake (the tank will have enough time to pick-up the mob or intervine on you) or when solo a nice time for using a healing spell + a health pot.

this is gonna be the Smaman Frost Nova ,excelent against melee doing nice damage and giving 5% mana it s perfect that anything in addition with a water shield and Mana regen via gear talents,will be a little glory moment like when u need mana for one shock to kill a guy and you use this skill(well it sure gonna kill him if he is at 5% for example) but it is viable both in pve and pvp

This should be great fun on the AV bridge.

Thinking about it in Eye of the Storm, though, makes me worry this can never go live as is. An instant-cost 20 yard knockback could be far too effective at flinging opponents into the void, and death with durability loss in PVP is no fun.

"...and damaging nearby enemies within 10 yards." + "...knocking them back 20 yards." = 30 yds further away from you. Not bad at all. And with Storm Reach, it becomes "...and damaging nearby enemies within 12 yards."

As fun as this spell seems, knockback does not belong in WoW unless game engine changes a lot. Even fear often made players just go underground/into the walls in the arena (where you think every pixel would be carefuly added not to allow that), just imagine 20 yard knockback in world pvp ...

I don't think 20 yards is right. Imagine using this at, say, LM in Arathi Basin.

in my opinion 20 yards is a tad OP. especially considering balance druids get a conical version of this that only does about 25% of that. like some people said before, this is going to be used in av and eots to knock players off, and im also thinking of the new arena with pillars...

And 51 point affli lock was cripple 20 sec duration immune to phisical damange but vulnerable to spells and silence.THAT WAS OP!

Remember that with the new changes to spell pushback getting melee out of our faces won't be absolutely vital anymore. Sure, some breathing room is nice, but it's not absolutely necessary. Also, remember that since you're making someone move, this is another interrupt for us.
Edit: It's now back to being 20 yards.

This knockback is sick, Mages and Druids don't have this much, why should shamans have it then, I don't care if they buff the damage or mana regen, but knockback is something serious since you can knock EVERYTHING of ANY hill atm with this spell.

there are 2 parts at the moment... you should see how it can be usefull in pvp situations!

Yeah, while shamans have have alot of abilties with mediocre mechanics, Thunderstorm causes a large knockback and interrupt. This is one of the more powerful mechanics in the game overall, right up there with stuns. The true value of this spell will be recognized when it is used with expert timing and intent.

The name should be changed to 'Gnomish Thunderstorm' and add a note 'Does not always work as intented'.

What I mean is when you do it to group of mobs near some wall, one or 2 can get stuck to wall, evade and after few sec, all the group attacks you in full health. Another is that again when fighting a group of 5-6, it pushbacks 4 while rest stay and melee the shaman, all take the damage tho. Nice too when you use it and you never know to which direction the enemy is pushed to, not always easy to use it while you see there is enemies in 30y range that are not in combat and you dont want to pull em either.. but using Thunderstorm, you just might.

Be careful using Thunderstorm as an Elemental shaman to blow Saurfangs Blood Beasts in ICC back off of another player. I tried to throw one back off of a mage, but since i was at the wrong angle, it was blown off of the platform and took the mage with it using Summon Player.

this ability is extremely powerful when fighting at melee range, i think enh shammys should have it, or that it'll be trainable instead of a talent and ele shams should have a kind of spell similar to the druid's hurricane (but more powerful and with better eff) as a final talents, the feral spirits simply dont keep up with this spell.... T-T

Did anyone notice that on pvp, when stuned or rooted, it just doesn't knock melees back? I mean, out of 10 times, it knocked them back 2. I actually tested, it's not a rough estimative.
I'm not spell pen capped, neither hit capped, so I can't provide actual evidence of a bug or something, but I'm working on it. And, besides, even not hit or pen capped you should not miss the knockback 8 out of 10 times with, in my case, just 0.03% to miss.
So, the question is: is your Thunderstorm also not knocking people back when you're stunned or rooted? It's almost impossible to play a decent elemental shaman without the knockback being a granted, like druid's Typhoon, wich is on a much lesser cooldown.
To make things clear, I'm currently at 0 spell pen and 3.97%, plus 1% for being draenei, hit. And the melee I was testing on was a naked human warrior.

When activated, this ability should "pulse" twice or even 3 times for the knock back effect. This would at least make a viable improvement for an otherwise ineffective defensive ability.
I like how there has been a "slow" effect added.

I would like to point out that while grouping, this isn't something you use for AoE damage. Even if you don't have Chain Lightning yet, you don't. It's disruptive to everyone else's damage that you scatter the mobs far and wide, and thus a net damage loss for the group.

That being said, let me list some good uses for it, especially for challenge modes.
- Restoring your mana (obviously), though you generally shouldn't run OOM unless you're healing.
- Knocking ranged mobs towards the tank.
- A last resort interrupt.
- A last resort lifesaver for the tank if he's getting destroyed.
- If the tank gets killed, this buys the group time to combat rez him before losing anyone else. I usually pop the Earth Elemental Totem right after in those situations.

While in SL Prepatch, so sad to have Thunderstorm only on level 49, Astral Shift on 42 and Hex on 41.
If willing to queue some BGs while leveling.

For being a "thunderstorm", it certainly does not do high damage...

Used to knock back 20 yards instead of a puny 10, that's gone too. Neutered into a pathetic state. RIP.
