Artifacts in Battle for Azeroth
As of June 26th, completing the quest
The Power in Our Hands
will further empower your Artifact Weapon, enabling all traits and at least
Concordance of the Legionfall
level 75, further increasing in power over time until the Battle for Azeroth pre-expansion patch.
Therefore, only the Netherlight Crucible recommendations are relevant on this guide page leading up to BFA, as you already receive all Artifact Traits by default. This makes content easier to complete, especially some
content going away
such as
Ahead of the Curve
and
Mage Tower Challenges
.
In the
BFA pre-patch
, your Artifact Traits will be removed, and relics will simply increase the item level of your artifact weapon. However, many artifact traits are returning as talents or azerite powers in Battle for Azeroth and we have a compiled a
full list you can read here
.
Moving forward in Battle for Azeroth, you will still be able to acquire the Artifact Weapon which will mainly interest transmog collectors for the appearances. Learn how to unlock all appearances in BFA with our
Artifact Appearance Guide
.
Artifact Weapon:
G'Hanir, the Mother Tree
Active Ability
Equipping G'Hanir, the Mother Tree grants you the ability
Essence of G'Hanir
, which increases the frequency in which your healing-over-time effects heal for a brief period of time.
Netherlight Crucible
The
Netherlight Crucible
is a new system added in Patch 7.3. The Crucible allows you further empower your Resto Druid Artifact Weapon, by specializing and increasing the power from your relics. With it, each relic receives a small talent tree that you can select new traits from, depending how many traits your weapon have. Do not worry, however, because with the changes to
Artifact Knowledge
, unlocking the full power of the Crucible won't take long. Learn everything about this new system in our
Netherlight Crucible Guide
.
The traits unlock as you spend points into
Concordance of the Legionfall
.
The first tier of unlocks happens as you unlock the crucible giving you +5 item level per relic. (total of 15 item levels).
Shadow & Light Traits
The Second tier of unlocks happens at artifact traits 60, 63, and 66.
The traits unlock randomly but below is a rough priority for which traits to chose if given the choice between them. It is worth noting that as a healer the game will force at least one of your "Shadow" or "Holy" Traits to be a throughput increase, the other however can be a damage trait. With the opening of
Antorus, the Burning Throne
, it is now possible to obtain
Insignia of the Grand Army
, which increases the potency of your Tier 2 Crucible traits by 50%. It might be a really strong legendary if you are lucky with Netherlight Crucible rolls! The following is a relative ranking of the traits for the Resto Druid Artifact:
Light:
Trait
Rough Equivalent Weapon ilvls
Notes
Refractive Shell
3.5 ilvls
Provides a moderate effective health increase.
Light Speed
3 ilvls
Consistent haste and mobility increase.
Secure in the Light
3 ilvls
Healing abilities grant a shield
Infusion of Light
3 ilvls
Healing abilities have a chance to proc a small heal.
Shocklight
2.5 ilvls
Concordance of the Legionfall
proc gains an additional crit benefit. Not ideal because we can't always utilize a random proc.
Light's Embrace
1 ilvls
Minor heal after taking damage that is difficult to utilize as a healer.
Shadow:
Most of the Shadow traits are damage oriented traits as such only two are actual throughput increases. Below you will find those two and the rest should be considered to be roughly a zero HPS gain. (Some have minor heal effects when you deal damage which will proc off of our damaging spells but they will not be impactful enough to notice.)
Trait
Rough Equivalent Weapon ilvls
Notes
Master of Shadows
4.5 ilvls
Strong stat increase and personal survivability with the bonus avoidance.
Murderous Intent
2.5 ilvls
Concordance of the Legionfall
proc gains an additional versatility benefit. Not ideal because we can't always utilize a random proc.
Chaotic Darkness
2.5 ilvls
Not Recommended.
Requires damage to proc a random amount of damage dealt to the enemy.
Shadowbind
2.5 ilvls
Not Recommended.
Allows leech-like effect but only procs off of damage.
Torment the Weak
0 ilvls
Not Recommended.
Provides no healing benefit.
Dark Sorrows
0 ilvls
Not Recommended.
Provides no healing benefit.
Despite the recent nerfs,
Master of Shadows
should be the priority option being better than all of the Light traits AND all of the shadow traits.

Tier 3:
These traits unlock at 69,72,75 traits in your weapon. These mimic your "Bronze" traits, though they cannot roll the trait you already have on that relic. For these ones you should follow the same ordering as your standard relics. Be sure to observe when you acquire new relics, what the last tier traits are available. A very unattractive relic at face value could turn out to be much better than expected due to the T3 traits that are offered.
Trait
Rough Equivalent Weapon ilvls
Notes
Persistence
5 ilvls (T19) / 2.5 ilvls (T20/T21)
Increased duration on our most cast ability.
Knowledge of the Ancients
2.5 ilvls
Increase mana regeneration.
Grovewalker
2 ilvls
Flat % increase to nearly all our healing.
Essence of Nordrassil
1ilvl (T19/T21) / 2 ilvls (T20)
Flat increase to our AoE ground effect. Might be slightly lower without T20 4pc.
Eternal Restoration
1-1.5 ilvls
Increased uptime on our artifact ability for additional burst healing.
Infusion of Nature
1 ilvl
Minor mana reduction to our AoE burst ability.
All other traits should be seen as only minor healing increases.
Traits
Recommended Build Path
The primary path for the Resto Druid Artifact is to head to the large
Dreamwalker
node first. On the way you get
Nature's Vigor
,
Grovewalker
,
Nature's Essence
, and
Essence of Nordrassil
. Taking this path maximizes your throughput with early artifact power. From
Dreamwalker
you head down to
Tranquil Mind
, taking
Armor of the Ancients
and
Blessing of the World Tree
. Once you have both of these large nodes, go back to the start of the tree and go through
Infusion of Nature
,
Persistence
, and
Knowledge of the Ancients
to get
Power of the Archdruid
.
After getting all the large nodes, fill in the center nodes starting with
Natural Mending
, then
Blooms of G'Hanir
,
Seeds of the World Tree
, and finally
Mark of Shifting
.
Starting Path
Next,
Next,
Empowered Traits
In patch 7.2, after purchasing your 36th trait (putting a second rank in
G'Hanir's Bloom
), you can complete a questline to unlock another set of traits as well as being able to put an extra point in your current 3/3 traits.
New Traits
Fortitude of the Cenarion Circle
Increases healing done by 10%, damage done by 10%, and Stamina by 10%. New trait that split from the previous paragon trait.
Eternal Restoration
Increases the duration of Essence of G'Hanir by 1 sec.
Joy of Spring
Efflorescence
's healing increases up to 20% on a target that remains in
Efflorescence
.
Deep Rooted
When your Rejuvenation, Regrowth, or Wild Growth heals a target below 35% health, its duration is refreshed.
Concordance of the Legionfall
is a random Intellect proc, scaling per rank put into the trait. unlocked only when all other traits have been purchased.
Trait Build Path
After empowering
G'Hanir, the Mother Tree
further in 7.2, purchase the traits in the following order
Grace of the Cenarion Circle
Eternal Restoration
Joy of Spring
Deep Rooted
Persistence
Grovewalker
Knowledge of the Ancients
Essence of Nordrassil
All subsequent traits provide only minor benefit and can be taken in any order, but my personal preference would be:
Natural Mending
Infusion of Nature
Armor of the Ancients
Blessing of the World Tree
Seeds of the World Tree
Remaining artifact power will be spent in the end trait till maxed out.
Concordance of the Legionfall
After empowering weapon
Next,
Finally,
Relics
With regard to relics, in general you want the highest item level relic you can get due to the large amount of intellect your weapon awards you. If you have the choice of relics of the similar ilvl, then you aim for these specific traits in order of how highly we value them:
Trait
Rough Equivalent Weapon ilvls
Notes
Persistence
5 ilvls (T19) / 2.5 ilvls (T20/T21)
Increased duration on our most cast ability.
Knowledge of the Ancients
2.5 ilvls
Increase mana regeneration.
Grovewalker
2 ilvls
Flat % increase to nearly all our healing.
Essence of Nordrassil
1ilvl (T19/T21) / 2 ilvls (T20)
Flat increase to our AoE ground effect. Might be slightly lower without T20 4pc.
Eternal Restoration
1-1.5 ilvls
Increased uptime on our artifact ability for additional burst healing.
Infusion of Nature
1 ilvl
Minor mana reduction to our AoE burst ability.

Ideally, the only priority you'd place with regards to resto relics in
Antorus, the Burning Throne
is for
Sublimating Portal Frost
and to a lesser extent
Fraternal Fervor
. Be mindful that the traits you receive in the
Netherlight Crucible
as well as ilvl will drastically affect the value of your relics.
