Soloable, did so as a 67 feral druid. Immune to stuns and snares like the other elite beasts, but doesn't hit terribly hard and only does melee damage. This bird moves pretty fast though so kiting might be difficult.

The respawn time of Gutripper is around 5 minutes, I guess that's the same for the other two elites from the Mastery-quests.

Gutripper is a black colored 67 elite bird/owl that roams in a pattern just east of Warmaul Hill. If you don't find him at first Gutripper roams in a repeatable pattern. Just outside of Forge Camp Hate: heading northeast he will roam visiting all the clefthoof corpses, heading in a northerly direction on the western side of the road leading to Zangarmarsh. He will roam almost to the border of Zangarmarsh before crossing the road and heading east towards more clefthoof corpses. At this point he will track south a little bit before taking off to the air where he will track again towards Forge Camp: Hate and begin his pattern again. It takes roughly 5 minutes to complete his roaming pattern.

Gutripper is immune to Fear and will present a problem to hunters attempting to kite him because he flys very fast.

Gutripper is also immune to freeze effects. He is, indeed, very fast (able to outfly an epic ground mount).

Can't figure out any way to solo this quest as a mage. Gutripper hits too fast and moves too fast to kite. He also tears through the elemental in about 10 seconds. Was able to duo it at 68 with a 67 demo lock using the imp. Just pile on every trinket/cooldown you can and pray for lots of crits for a quick kill.

Soloed all 3 Mastery as a Demology Warlock, started with putting up curse of doom and corruption, sent Felguard in and just health funnel until i had to put corruption and curse of doom up again,

i did only put up Corruption up 2 times due to the fact when i tried more, my felguard went low on health cos of the GCD

Solo'd as a Warlock. Just enslaved the Mo'arg Master Planner from nearby and let him do all of the work. Did the same for the Talbuk Mastery as well.

Solo'd as a 65 Affliction warlock. Just went over to a forge camp and enslaved a felguard legionnaire thing. Piece of cake.

If you use this strat I suggest using the legionnaires instead of the engineer dudes, the engineers cant really hold aggro too well and their dps is a bit weaker.

I think the above comments prove that warlocks need to be nerfed. Grats on solo'ing the mastery quests though. Must have saved you a bunch of time instead of looking for group.

Definitely not solo-able as a mage. I was 66 frost spec. at the time and owing to it's immunity to snares and roots - there is no way to control the flow of battle.

Even with an elemental and Ice Block/Barrier, there is just no way to keep him away from you for long enough to get in the shots to kill him. His hits are far too powerful.

For mages: you'll need a tank to hold aggro whilst you nuke. No other way if you're doing it at the intended level.

Soloed as a 68 protection pally. Bit of a slow fight, but more an endurance battle than anything else. I judged and sealed with light and only had to heal once. Toward the end as I was running out of mana I sealed with Vengeance instead to get him down a little faster. He can be stunned with Hammer of Justice. Compared to the rest of the other mastery elites, Gutripper doesn't hit too hard, which helps a lot.

I found him at about 36.21.

Solo'd as a 65 Druid. Same as everything else... Bash at ~50% health, heal, use Barkskin as needed, then back to bear. Took me about three tries--at one point he resisted two bashes--but finally got it. I found the best place to fight him was where he crosses the road leading out of Nagrand to the North; no worry about adds or other interference there, and you can see him coming a minute or two before he actually gets there.

Just make sure you keep Demo Roar up at ALL times!

Locks can solo, just go to the forge camp hate/fear and enslave one of the OMG UBER!!! felguards and go kick some ass (curse of shadows makes enslave last it's full time)

Managed to solo all 3 elite Mastery quests as a 66 feral druid with ok gear, used the same method for them all.(Slighty different with this one)
With this one i found it imposible to attack it in the air so i could not pounce it like i did the others, still a easy battle
Start in bear, demoralizing roar (VERY IMPORTANT) ,and just stack lacerate to 5 and maul and mangle away till you hit about 50% health then bash till stunned, heal with Rejuve and Regrowth or as i did a healing touch and then swich back to bear and continue the previous method and the kills should be easy!
-Try to keep Demoralizing roar up all the time
-Avoid moving around much so no extra pulls
-Dont forget about Frenzied Regeneration if things go realy bad

Only died once and that was my first attempt on the Talbuk

Just now solo'ed as lv67 prot Pally.

Best place to fight him is at 33, 20 - on the path leading North to Zangarmarsh. He tracks between the Windroc groups, so sitting here beats trying to run him down, and the whole time i was there nothing else came close.

Judged Crusader and beat him down with SoV, HS up always (of course). Judged Vengeance every 8 seconds, and used HoJ and a bomb to cast Holy Light a couple of times. Bubbled right at the end to bandage but could have gambled with a Hammer of Wrath instead.

Confirming that the Warlock enslave method still works as of August '08. I recently soloed this quest as a 66 Warlock by enslaving one of the Felguard Legionnaire from the nearby Forge Camp. Gutripper paths quite close to Forge Camp: Hate, so as long as you can engage him within a couple of minutes of enslaving the demon you'll have plenty of time to take him down.

The Felguard's are quite tough and hit hard, so they can tank him no problem. After sending the Felguard in, just DoT him up and blast him with Shadowbolts until he's down. Make sure you have enough time left on the enslave, and keep some distance in case it breaks early. Suddenly getting aggro from both Gutripper and the Felguard could be a painful (but brief) experience.

Not too tricky really, kept HoT's up, healing touch when needed.

your treants will help alot, also good idea to keep some pots with you just incase.

Easily soloable by a 66 Holy Paladin. Holy Shock, Judgement, Consecrate. Heal when necessary. I had Seal Of Wisdom on, and used Judgement of Wisdom to keep my mana up. Plus I used one Fel Iron Bomb at the start, but that doesn't do much.

Solo'd as a level 67 UNHOLY DK, relitivaly easy,simply put icy touch and plauge strike on it, then hit with blood strike,then use Death coil,and when you get low, drink a healing potion,then when you are around 1k-ish hp, use death strike as long as the plauges are still on it,if not,you run a high risk of dieing,but otherwise it was easier than trying to solo some other elites.oh,almost forgot,you need a ghoul out otherwise you will get owned then and there.

Solo'd as a 67 Prot paladin. Didn't have to heal once, pretty easy. Tip: fight him in the trees if you can as you won't have to deal with any other surrounding mobs.

easy solo for my lvl 66 BM hunter.

i landed in the tree at 32.1-29.9 and waited for Gutripper to pass over. then its just normal combat only you have to heal ur pet quite often.

much more soloable than some other elite mobs around. in my opinion he was easier than the Talbuk mob. as a lvl 66 BM hunter with a ferocity pet, it only took 2 tries. The trick is make your pet attack first that way Gutripper doesnt have aggro for you. once your pet begins attacking, cast Beastial Wrath and Intimidation. then just use mend pet as often as possible and keep Hawk and hunters mark on him. other than that do the norms for ranged combat: lots of arcane and steady and the occasional serpent sting. i also would advise using the instance aggro interface with any elite mob. It helps you better gauge when to back off on your attacks so he stays focused on ur pet. if your pet dies res him and then feign death or use heart of the pheonix and then feign death unless he has less than 1K hp in which case you should be able to melee him.

just so you know, gutripper is immune to concussive shot and a few other motion impairing effects. even worse, he can outrun all ground mounts if that tells you about his speed. kiting him with a hunter will be a quite a bit harder if not close to impossible.

Soloable as a 67 Elemental Shaman
Difficulty: 8/10
As an elemental shaman, this guy is not what I'd call "cake".

He is immune to all slow effects, do not think that you can Earthbind him or Frost Shock him and run!
Drop your totems. I used Totem of Wrath, Wrath of Air, and Mana Spring.
Since you can't kite him, the only thing you can do is keep Flame Shock up at all times
Use Thunderstorm when it's off of its cooldown
Keep yourself healed throughout the fight. You will be doing almost twice as much healing as you will damage.

Don't risk any Lightning Bolts when he is whacking you! His crits are quick and powerful!

get atleast 1 more if ur as low level as i am :)

EDIT: Leveled to 66 , and it was fairly easy, send pet in , keep mend pet up , use cds in beginning , and feign death when you get aggro. :)

Keep pw:s up at all times and remember to refresh your dots you will most likely have to go out of shadow form to heal so its important to have your dots hitting him while you heal.

I tried and tried to kill this bird! What finally worked for me was to wait for him in the tree at roughly 32/30 (on the branch). Too hard to fight him while I'm on the ground and he's in the air. This worked like a charm.

Soloed as a level 67 frost mage in boa gear and quest greens. It took a few attempts -- he hits me VERY hard, and you kind of have to get lucky and not get crit.

Anyways, if you have glyph of evocation, that can help. Cast amplify magic on yourself, since he doesn't do magic damage, and when you've blinked/iceblocked away and he goes to kill your elemental, you can get out of the iceblock and get as many ticks of the evocate heal off on yourself as possible before he comes back to you (he's very fast, so it won't be long).

I had my water elemental pull and cast 2 waterbolts and was in the middle of casting a 3rd while I stood at max range, popped icy veins and just started spamming. Blinked/iceblocked/glyph of evocated away like in the paragraph above, and remember that even though he is immune to snares, you can still use deep freeze (it stuns him even though he's not in a nova). Note that he has to have the frostbolt slow debuff up on him for you to deep freeze, for whatever reason. It doesn't seem to slow him, but I couldn't cast deep freeze when the frost slow debuff fell off. So deep freeze him when he reaches you, blink away, and hope you kill him before he reaches you the next time. Obv. ice barrier every cd (I was glyphed for ice barrier, too) and spam mana shield if you're about to finish him off. Make sure you have a mana gem, and a mana or health pot might help, too.

Soloed this and the other two elite beasts with a lvl 66 Assassination rogue with great difficulty. I had the Halaani Whiskey from Halaa (+20 stam), Elixir of Mastery (+15 all stats), Elixir of Major Fortitude (10 hp5, Max health +250) and Flame Cap (40 Fire damage chance on hit), as well as lvl 375 Lifeblood (rank 5), Mad Alchemist's Potion and Bladefist's Breath.

This one is the hardest of the three for rogues because you can't sneak behind it since it's flying, but other than that just keep your rotations and pop and cooldowns you have.

Easily solo'd him as 66 lock (16/41/0) with quest gear around 30 secs or so.

Just keep your dots on him and spam Drain Life/Health Funnel as necessary. I caught aggro when he was at 1/3 health and forgot to use Soulshatter so I was around 50% when I took him down, after using my healthstone and death coil.

Didn't notice whether hit was critting me or not as I was watching my health, but he can hit hard.

I just soloed this on my level 66 frost mage. Gutripper killed my pet like someone else said in 10 secs. This is what I did: Keep your Ice Barrier up so you don't take damage and use Mirror Image. He went down pretty fast, and I did not have to use a health pot. Goodluck!

Solo'd just now easily as a 69 frost mage.
Keep ice barrier up, pop mirror image and spam frostbolt.
Didn't take a hit and mana was still half when i was finished, fight lasted about 25 seconds :)

Solo'd 65 Boomkin. Wasn't that easy. Kept Lifebloom, Rejuv, and Regrowth on me and just widdled away at him with several resists (yuck). Did use Innervate at the end (anything about 20% mana gets me nervous :P), but was doable.

** also used typhoon when that was up to get him away from me as Rooting was immune **

Be aware. He is flying REALLY high in the air. You will need to have an flying mount, in other way, you wont be able to reach him. I soloed it with my subtlety rogue. It should be hard for any of class. The bird is in area where a lot of buls and birds are in the same place

This quest frustrated me! He flies fast, and too high- he was "out of range" as he flew over me. I finally flew onto the huge tree at the north end of his flight circle and waited, and was able to get him as he came close. Killed him fast and easy then. I'm a 67 hunter.

Description

You are ready, <class>. Ready to face the mother of all windrocs, Gutripper! Honor demands that after hunting so many of her children that you give her the chance to defeat you! Seek her out amongst the greater windroc far to the west.
