This quest is part of the AQ Gates openning questline. You have to gather these materials so the gnome can make you an arcanite buoy that you can use to summon the shark boss in Azhara. The boss is easily killed by a 25man and it drops the blue scepter shard.

Good way to get the gems in by farming Thorium Ore (or buying it if your not a miner), and have a JCer prospect it. You'll get other gems, but on most server, the sapphires and diamonds are like 40-50g+.

As for the Arcanite Bars, you can just buy the bars, or the mats for them and get them xmuted.. or you can find a xmute spec Alchemist to transmute them for you, you might get lucky with some proc's, so you use less mats.

As for the ore, thats a little harder. You have a few different options to make it a quick BWL run.

1) Convince your guildies to help you out.

2) Bribe a warlock friend of yours to help you out with the run. They'll need to farm a lot of Soul Shards to summon people inside BWL (You don't need to be attuned to be inside, but you do need to be attuned to zone in normally). I say this cuz most people that you pug won't be attuned. To try to persuide people to goto BWL, you can play the Achievement card and hope for the best. Don't be discuraged if pugs or guild grps don't happen the first time, or 2nd or 3rd. It is all just a part of the game.

3) Advertise to buy the ore. There might be people that did BWL pre-Wrath for the achivement and have some ore in their mules bank or something.

Next step of the quest, I helped a friend do it pre-wrath.
Rogue, Enhancement Shaman, and me(Frost mage). The shaman was BT/Sunwell geared (as well as the rogue and myself). The shaman pulled agro off any tank if they suck, even now at 80 while doing MASSIVE dmg, so the shark was a breeze. Doing it now at 80 shouldn't involve more than a dps and a healer.. If your a tank, than get a dps and a healer to help you out.

So I'm confused. Im on the AQ quest chain and I turned in The Charge of the Dragonflights. I now have to find these 3 shards. ATM I am trying to get the blue one, but I went to the little gnome and apparently I already did the quest to get the buoy and cant find it. Is there any way to get another or is there a way to have Maws spawn without it? Or else i just screwed myself over with this entire chain...

when i got pugs together to complete this quest i made sure they knew the ore was on reserve and had it set to Master looter. Then you just loot all bodies that you can loot and you'll find them. Also ninja pulls will get the group killing. Like you said their IQ drops so they just kill whatever is coming at them.

I pull + fade and then let the tanks worry about it :D

I have also done all the quests up to this one and I know I'm suppose to pick it up from Narain Soothfancy, but when I click on him he just tells me I can train from the book on the table. :( I am Revered with Brood of Nozdormu.

I currently have this quest in my log. I'm certain it's a mistake but for whatever reason my map is highlighting an area in Un'goro Crater. I have every item in my possession except for the Ingots. All the Arcanite Bars, Azerothian Diamonds and Blue Sapphires are accounted for.

Anyways, I'm sure this doesn't mean that there's a way to get the Ingots from the volcano...ha ha ha.

So much for completing the last 4 quests to do my AQ line... Thats what i get for waiting 5 years to hand in the last few quests

This quest was marked obsolete by Blizzard and cannot be obtained or completed.

Narain Soothfancy in Tanaris wants you to bring him 20 Arcanite Bars, 10 Elementium Ore, 10 Azerothian Diamonds, and 10 Blue Sapphires.

The bad news is that I'm going to need a lot of arcanite, elementium ore, and rare gemstones.
