There is nothing to "free" the oppressed kobolds! You need to kill this mob Waxtail Browbeater to free them.

You have to the kill hostile mobs that are standing near the Oppressed Kobolds to free them (clicking on the Oppressed Kobolds won't do anything).

In first few days of expansion you may have to hang around to wait for the hostile mobs to respawn.

One good place to go is the cave at /way 64.15, 30.30

Confusing at first. I thought I had to open cages.
Just kill the slavers (quest NPCs)

dumb quest..not only do you have to wait a while for respawns, sometimes, only one of the oppressed buggers actually triggers when you kill the associated enemy.

After the third time the "oppressed" kobolds turned violet on ME (3-7 at a time) I was about to say "F***k them.
Then I remembered I MUST do this quest if I ever want to get away from that god-awful "skyriding"

At the beginning of the expansion, there seem to be very few "oppressed kobolds". To avoid endless groups of hostile mobs, get on your mount and fly around the quest area until you see a larger group of "yellow" figures. They will always be accompanied by hostile mobs, killing these releases the oppressed kobolds. But be patient, there aren't many around and running/riding won't find them and won't get this done at any useful speed.
