This quest appears to be bugged. The water puddles disappear at about 75% and then the status bar resets to zero. Good job Blizzard!

To many people trying to do the same quest I think Blizzard didnt even test this quest out. I will wait and do it when others are done lol.

Water puddles show up at 4 corners around the Treasure.

Right now they don't appear on the screen but they do seem to be there. If you need to lower the temp try running to a corner (maybe a few yards from the chest) and see if you can trigger it.

Right, hope this could help someone, i clicked on the totum, as soon as it done its cast thing i stood in the water puddle and spam clicked the chest. This worked for me

If the chest wont open at 100%. Keep spam clickking the chest before it gets to 100%

After a lot of attempts where I frequently got to 100% yet the quest did not complete, it seems the solution is to be the only one doing it. If more than one person is hammering away, it won't complete the quest. It completed finally once everyone else gave up and stepped back and I was alone working on it. Had to wait for it to despawn and redo the entire thing, but as long as I was the only one doing it, it would complete just fine.

This quest is pretty buggy at the moment. I had no problems spotting the water puddles, and I excavated the chest to 100% on several occasions but was unable to open it. This may be linked to the phasing of other players around me trying to do the same. (There were only around three or four other players with me trying to do this quest).

Anyway, abandoning and repeating the quest a few times finally allowed me to excavate and open the chest. I guess I got lucky with the timing.

This has to be one of the worst Quests ever. It is either buggy as hell, server lag, other people screwing you or all of the above.

I was finally able to get this to work. You need to keep the progress bar in the middle where the color bar is beigeish. It appears if you use the totem, it gives you heat. If you stand in water puddle, it gives you water. This is just more archaeology stuff that most people don't like. Not sure why bliz is giving us more archaeology. Regardless, the above is how you do the quest.

If you can't get water to appear for this, try dumping your totem way out of range and clicking it. THEN the water appeared around the big dig site. QQ

After finally finishing the previous quest by going into War Mode in order for my fire elemental do do *anything*; Now this quest just pops the Disturbed earth and never moves on from there.
There's nothing to excavate, just a swirling bit of dirt.
Questline could've used a little more time to cook I think.

I was never able to get above 0% progress on this no matter what I did. Heated, cooled, didn't matter. It never became clickable at all. Dropped the quest and repicked it up, now no progress bar. Seriously damn bugged.

Edit: Ok, exited the game, relogged, dropped the quest and re-accepted it. Progress bar is back and now I can click on the chest to make progress.

Blizzard, there is no reason to make this such a fiddly, easily breakable thing that relies on an often unreliable NPC. Latency, lag, glitchy quest and too many people trying to do it and it becomes broken. Like this. There was nothing wrong with the old-school archaeology digging.

I couldn't get the bar to even show up no matter what I did- abandoning, relogging, spamming the totem, trying it in different places. What DID finally make the bar show up for me was completing the quest line with the other chick and the goggles first. After I did this, the chest suddenly had a bar on it. (In fact, there were like 8 instances of it stacked on each other.) I could see the fire/water meter and use the totem to get it going toward heat. The water puddles still did not load in for me, but having seen them flash on the screen a bunch of times while trying to start it, I had a rough idea of where they were and walked over that area, which seemed to work to push the meter back toward water.

Not the most elegant solution, but I was able to complete the quest with this method.

Description

Great job on that small find! Now, are you ready for something big? More often than not, shaking up the small stuff will shake up something even BIGGER just below the surface. Another little rumble, and we'll have a major find on our hands, I can feel it. A major find works almost the same as the smaller ones with a couple extra steps. Why don't you tackle this one too? It'll be good practice for ya. Don't worry! I can guide you through it.
