(October 18 Beta) I think the title of this quest has changed to Signs of the Lion, you need to complete 18 floors, so make sure you got time. You will have a lot of fun with all the anima powers you are gonna unlock in 18 floors. It's the first layer of the Twisted Corridors.

The quest occurs in Twisting Corridors Layer 1.

Royal Ring (Clue found) drop from the boss on Floor 6.
Lion Emblem (Second clue found) drop from the boss on Floor 12.
Length of Light-Infused Chain (Third clue found) drop from the boss on Floor 18 (final floor).

I don't have time for this crap, eighteen floors? Absurd! As if there aren't enough things already that artificially bloat time spent in-game, now this?

As other users have discovered and have kindly pointed out, you can do levels 1-6 three times to receive credit and move on and away from this dreadful event.

With that said, for me it just shows a massive disconnect between Blizzard and how they communicate with their players. Nothing in the quest text makes it clear on how much actually needs to be done to complete this quest, aside from the vague "explore deeper" comment within the text.

When I first tried, I was under what I thought was the fair assumption that it would be like all the other quests we've been getting on a weekly basis. Talk to Bolvar, to a Torghast run, and complete. To my surprise, Twisting Corridors kept going. And going. AND going. I got to level 11 and wondered if I was in the right place. I came here to look, and discovered the horror that there are 18 levels.

I have a family, including children. I'm head of the household, and I work. There are times where I simply don't have the time to engage in content due to length. Therefore, I plan accordingly.

This is where I see the disconnect. The quest text should be the bottom line for where we're told what to do, along with a general expectation of the time it will take. For Twisting Corridors, it would have been so simple had the quest text or the side bar read: "Twisting Corridors: find clue one on level 6, find clue two on level 12, find clue 3 on level 18."

I would have seen this and immediately recognized the longer time requirement. I would have told myself to wait and do it when I knew I'd have the time. But, it didn't say this, and based on the comments here at the time, I was under the impression I had to complete levels 1-18. As a result, I had to abandon the run at level 11 because of real-life commitments, and needing to get ready for work.

This was immensely demoralizing. I felt my time was wasted because of lack of information. This is where I see the disconnect. Blizzard needs to be setting an expectation for these things. Not only this quest, but for other Shadowlands content. For example, there's a wide variety of world quests which simply say, in effect, "here are the quest's requirements." I look and see what the tooltip says, and I make the choice to do them. But when I get into the world quest, more keeps coming. I complete what the tooltip says only to find out there's more. There's one in Bastion that says to activate three targets, and kill 15 mobs. Simple enough, until I learned to activate the three mobs, I first had to kill other mobs that didn't count for the objective. Those other mobs dropped fragments of the item needed to activate the three targets. Once I finally had that done, I thought I'd completed the world quest. But no, it sent me to another area, where I had to handle another ten objectives.

So instead of being able to rely on the tooltip saying 18 objectives, there were really THIRTY SEVEN! That's ridiculous, it's not effective communication of expectation from Blizzard, and from a certain point of view, it's deceptive. We're being made to invest more time because Blizzard isn't being transparent enough to really tell us what needs to be done. Maybe they just don't want us to go to the "kill one thing" world quests anymore. Maybe they're insistent on us seeing as much as possible to satisfy someone. Maybe they're just artificially padding everything in sight to show increased playtime to their investors. I guess we'll never know.

I just needed to get that off my chest. My time is valuable, as it is to so many other player who don't have the luxury of playing for hours upon hours per day. If Blizzard is going to feed us massive amounts of content, they need to have prepared to be forthcoming with clear explanations for how to complete said content.

I just played this on live and it kicked my ass at the end. A few pointers:

This quest is much more difficult than the other Torghast quests.
This is essentially 3 Torghasts back to back to back. First difficulty is like layer 1, Second round is like layer 6, Third is harder than an 8.
You should grind all the anima and souls on the first rounds that you can get. They will be useful levels 13+ (of 18).
If you just want to get the quest done in the least amount of time, it's probably easiest to just group it instead of soloing.

You get the quest items as drops from the boss at the end of each round, on 6, 12, and 18.

EDIT: As Kabookiejoe says below, you don't have to beat level 18. You can do it in multiple rounds, like 3 rounds to 6 or a 12 and a 6. The bosses always drop the quest item.

I recommend to not having an LFR queue or other queue going while running. I got up to layer 14 when the "paused" queue I had been in before I started my run popped up. There was a special button showing 'Exit Torghast' that I didn't click and I did not accept the queue invite either but was kicked out of my run regardless as it zoned me out of my Torghast causing me to start over at layer 1.

Picked this up, really excited to do it. Been looking forward to it for ages. First 12 floors were pretty simple, although Synod on floor 12 was a bit rough. 13-17 were a challenge and forced me to play smart after I'd been a nuclear weapon on lower floors thanks to some really good anima powers. Finally made it through to the last boss...

...and had two hours and 18 floors of work go absolutely to waste because RNG gave me a boss I couldn't win against (as a 203 BM hunter, so it's not like I'm undergeared or ill-equipped for hard solo fights). Thanks, Blizzard! Fun and engaging gameplay right there! Really makes me want to keep going with the story!

(And please don't tell me that's just how roguelikes work; I know it is. It's that I spent two hours essentially trying to do a quest, only for RNG to decide I didn't get to.)

And so this comment isn't entirely just a rant: be prepared for a slog. The last six floors will probably take you as long as the first twelve combined, especially if you get bad luck like I did and end up with something like Coldheart.

ETA: Can now confirm that doing all 18 layers isn't required. After taking a break for a while, I went back in and got my third clue off the floor 6 boss. Thank everything held holy.

Pretty rough when the vendor is dead past level 6. Due to using a ravenous anima orb on him on level 6 I'm guessing? Be wary.

Reading conjecture that the three clues don’t have to be looted from consecutive bosses of the same run, which would make story quest completion more reasonable if true. My lone and failed-at-last-boss 3 hour run ate all my free time and I’m at work now, can anyone confirm or deny this rumor? If true that’s big. If false it should be debunked.

EDIT: Have confirmed, got killed by floor 18 boss yesterday so today I killed the 6th floor boss today for the 3rd clue! Thank goodness! I now have no qualms with this mode but I'm sure the late-floor scaling will continue to generate "aggressive feedback" for a while yet.

Was bugged on me, at layer 1 floor 6 I got stuck with my path close, one side a closed door and the other a portal, neither of which was interactive. Tried reloading, character stuck etc. Nothing work and now I am trying again.

You don't need to do 18 floors in a row, every 6th floor regardless of progress, the floor bosses will drop the quest item required

You can do 3x6
1-12 and 1x6
or all 18 floors.

Really for 50 Soul Ash? 50? How can this even be possible that this programmer got away with finalizing this quest. Someone was not looking over his shoulder....SHOULD HAVE BEEN! and yes i know you gain access to Twisting Corridors but really that is not why I would do this quest. I'd do it for the Soul Ash but it is not WORTH IT.....

If you run through floor 6 (easy enough to do) 3 separate times, you will get the items you need for the quest. Instead of going through floor 18.

you can just re-run the first 6 floors for each of the clues. I got almost through floor 17 on my first run, but had to quit and I got my third clue on level 6 when I re-ran it

This is the most un-fun quest I've ever done in WoW. It's great having boss-like powers for a while. But, after hours of this it's time to move on to something else. I wasn't sure if I could leave and complete later so I wasn't about to exit at the time. As an AffLock it wasn't particularly challenging most of the time; but, it was beyond tedious. I almost never complain about tedium in the game but this is absolutely ridiculous. Hang in there and you'll have 18 floors of the same thing, served up in technicolor and sprinkled with loads of boredom.

One can complete this quest by running the first 6 levels, exiting and repeating 2 more times. No need to go through this as a single 18 floor run.

PSA: if you're doing this on an alt, DO NOT enter a layer higher than 1. Just did layer 5 on my alt after I did the first 4 on my main and didn't get any quest progress from it.

I hope they fix this in the future....

If doing the quest all you care about, listen carefully.

Do first 6 floor, kill the boss, get your first clue, exit Torghast. Do this for another 2 times, voilà! The quest is done.

As 204 Rogue, I only killed final bosses and went for the boss straight.

Horrible quest...joy killer....so uninspiring and imagination zero...........ctrl+c / ctrl+v floor after floor to death.
17 were fine, but then 18 overtunes boss that hits for 80k + on a tank.....1.5 hours ill never get back.

Sadistic minds who created this and consider it fun or "bragging rights"...what a joke

Unpopular opinion, but me and 2 other Guildies had an absolute blast doing corridors. Ran as a 205 Prot pally, 200 Spriest, and 198 UDK. Easily dumped 4hours into completing 2 layers of this. It becomes harder after floors 12-18. Just have to avoid the ground stuff and use a mob orb convert on one of the life shades to soak the black into hp.

A summary:

This can be done solo or in a group
It has 18 floors
On floors number 6, 12 and 18 the bosses drop the 3 items needed.
You can do it by killing any combination of those, so 3 runs to level 6 is enough (Don't do it like me: a 17 and a 6 after getting my *** kicked pretty hard)
It's hard and long if done in one run solo. (I don't have any experience doing it in group)
The final boss drops 50 Soul Ash. (Haven't tested personally)

And a little personal rant: Floor 17 mini boss auto attacked my 196 bear for 50% HP with 2-3 stacks of Ironfur and Barkskin down only to proc The Natural Order's Will. He wasn't completely enraged yet. It still wasn't enough healing with Frenzied Regeneration and quite a few good anima powers. I don't think I ever will set foot there again even on my main, and all my alts will ignore the whole Maw zone with Torghast (only going there for the weekly souls).
At least the covenant renown is alt-friendly, if nothing else...

I was confused about what people meant by doing;

Corridors 3 x 1-6 floors
You can just leave after doing Corridors 1-6 and do it again 2 more times
Leave after the first 6 layers and repeat them

What people don't explain is that after you kill the boss on floor 6 and loot the first Anduin clue, you simply enter the portal to floor 7 and then immediately turn around and click on the portal you just entered. It has become an Exit Torghast portal. And even easier; just right-click your health bar and "Leave Instance Group"
You are now getting ported out to the Twisting Corridors instance portal and you just re-enter and repeat two more times and hearthstone to Oribos to Bolvar.

There seems to be some conflicting information in this thread. In addition to some who call floors "layers" (grrrr). Some say to go in threes time, each time getting the reward from the end boss. IMPLYING that it's the same 6 floors in term of difficulty. Others seem to say after you've done the first 6 floors, you get floor 7 through 12. THEN you get floors 13-18... the assumption being that the 18th floor boss is as described, almost impossible for some classes to solo killAND is the same boos you get if you ran it non-stop.

I was able to complete the full run in approximately 1h30min as a fury warrior solo.
This is basically 3 thorghast run one after the other.
Difficulty increases as you move up the floors.
You get a purple power after each boss fight.

Be mindful to select power that will help boss fight or with big group of trashes.
From floor ~12, the trashes get a lot of HP and start to hit really hard.
Be prepared.

Some comments here mentions that it was not described that it would be 18 floors.
I do agree that Blizzard needs to fix this.

As others have noted, you can do it the easy way and restart after 6 floors for the quest.

I wanted to see how rough it was, and around floor 13 things started to heat up a bit as a Blood DK (199 ilvl). I managed a godly combo of traits, centered around 90% uptime of Lichborne, free Death Coils, and free pets.

I cleared layer 1, but even as a tank, I would recommend smaller pulls. Even with great traits, floor 16-17 you can get smoked instantly if a group nails you all at the same time.

Blizz doesn't care , are you kidding they don't give a hoot about you or anyone else , except maybe horde and their favorite end game players who get all the loot they need. I did level 11 a with 5 deaths left and then proceeded to die on mobs and the door boss, which all of a sudden had way more power to kill me . I actually think they don't want me to play , it's a constant manipulation in favor of a small % of players, I told them so and they hate me I suppose . and ya i told them it is BAD to have players make it to the last door boss and then die repeatedly and waste hours of time , they don't care. I wish thee would close out a lengthy ticket I filed and I asked them to do that but nothing has happened about that either! probably that problem I had will come back. oh well, I won't if it does.

This was not a good experience. Spent a long time getting to floor 17 and I died to the elite guarding the portal to the last boss after getting him to 1%.

Such a badly designed quest. Most players will have no idea they can just repeat floors 1-6. Instead, they'll try and get to floor 18 and go away feeling like they've wasted their time because Blizzard is terrible at communication.

suffered my final defeat right at the final portal on Floor 17 my highest normal Torghast I've ever completed was a 3 and that was a group of 5, until i came here to see if it was truly doable before I unsubbed after 16 years of play, only to come to find out that its doable from floor 1-6 for the quest, Torghast has been the worst addition to the game for casual players since Mage Tower in Legion, i don't have 10 hours a day to play I have maby 10 hours a week now

Looks logical, no? Implement the tower feature that any other grind game have, mainly mobile games. Blizzard just forgot to give us rewards to go up the levels.

Torghast wings are already unpopular because of the lack of progression and reward. Now we have a tower 3 times the size of other wings with even less reward.

Good thing that the last boss of layer 8 gives you a mount to use in The Maw.

Run it 3 times to the floor 6 and get your quest completed. BTS, Layer 2 give you Death Seeker, Layer 4 give you Helm of the Dominated and Layer 6 will give you the title "Spirestalker" and Layer 8 will give you Corridor Creeper.

Quest you taking from Highlord Bolvar Fordragon 39 68 in Oribos. Go to Torghast to do Twisting Corridors and drop 3 items: Royal Ring, Lion Emblem and Length of Light-Infused Chain.

Twisting Corridors have 18 floors and every 6 floors you have boss with is droping item.

You can do this quest in 3 ways:

Do Twisting Corridors in:

1. One move and kill bosses on floor: 6, 12 and 18.
2. Kill bosses on floor 6, 12 then 6 ( You will need to go Twisting Corridors 2nd time )
3. Kill bosses only on floor 6 three times ( You will need to go Twisting Corridors 3 times )

After you Finish this Quest You will be able to do next one The Captive King You just need to press on Helm of Domination which is in front of Highlord Bolvar Fordragon You will see nice Video then you returning Quest.

i mean Torghast is supposed to be a challenge, and most players come immediately to wowhead comments before setting out on a quest when they want a faster gameplay. It was actually easier to solo torghast as holy paladin in the beginning at ilvl 175. Its harder now, but it's a welcome challenge. If you dont like it thats your own boredom and that sucks for you. you probably didnt like mage tower either then. Ppl are just jealous when players can solo layer 8 in 25 mins or less. People scream for pve content and then laugh as soon as it comes out. Torghast is sick. 9.1 is excellent. Game too hard for you? you're on wowhead sooo lol git gud

Yeah, I should've checked Wowhead first. I got a group together and we killed the boss of Floor 6, when I saw we were offered an Anima Cell... I asked "Why are we offered Anima when we just killed the boss?"

"Oh this isn't the end. There's 18 floors. Buckle up, Buttercup." -Tank

So, yeah. It's now 1:43 am and I have to wake up at 5:30am. Was NOT expecting this, but I put the run together, and I didn't want to piss everyone off by leaving.

Well, we got the Floor 18 boss down to 15% health and that's when all our lives were gone. At 10% boss health, the crazy big scary dude who kills your party came and killed us all, ejecting us from the run.

I never got my third *!@#ing clue for the quest.

What. The. &*!@.

Floor 18, the last floor, boss down to TEN PERCENT, and NO THIRD CLUE. They couldn't give us the third clue BEFORE the boss? And just give us some nice chunk of Soul Ash for actually downing the boss?

To reiterate what Pentarion said below, and others said on this page:
The Bosses of Floors 6, 12, and 18 ALL each drop ONE Clue for this quest. As such...
You can either:
1) spend hours grinding through Floors 1-18 for a FULL clear (downing the Floor 18 super boss is REQUIRED) to get all three Clues in one go...
OR
2) spend less, or about the same time running Floors 1-6 (downing the Floor 6 easy boss is required) THREE TIMES to get all three Clues. (Or, alternatively, Floors 1-12 once to get Clues 1 and 2, and then Floors 1-6 once to get Clue 3 -- same concept, basically)

Option 1 can and will likely be extremely aggravating, time-consuming, and frustrating... and there's a chance you won't even down the last boss, leaving you without the third clue anyway. The floors get increasingly more difficult, of course, but it really starts getting rough right around Floor 12-14. You will almost certainly need a FULL group, with tank and healer, for this.
Option 2 is fast, easy, and a breeze. You do NOT need a full group for this; you can even SOLO it on a less-geared alt (though you may want to be moderately geared if you want to do the Floors 1-12 + Floors 1-6 option).

And to the people who balk and say "WoW, tHaT's So LaZy, jUsT fULL cLeAr":
Some of us attempted that on our mains and are now doing this quest on our ALTS that are entirely ungeared. Some of us don't have the time to invest in looking for or building a solid, high-iLvl group with a tank and healer, and then the additional HOURS of time to invest in actually running a full clear through Floor 18. Some of us don't give a rat's ass about progression or challenges or achievements, and we play World of Warcraft for other reasons -- but we still, for whatever reason, want or need to complete this quest and want to take the path of least resistance. And some of us simply don't have the patience or sanity to want to beat ourselves up over something like a simple quest given to us by Bolvar to go find some silly Alliance king who got himself captured by some dark Valkyr working for ~~Sylvan~~ The Jailer.

My point is: Everyone plays World of Warcraft for different reasons. Stop judging how others play, and mind your own damn game. Nobody cares if you were able to solo Twisting Corridors Floors 1-whatever, and nobody cares if you think we should bang our heads against the wall like you did and "just do a full clear". K?

Spent the afternoon doing the 17 floors quite easily, only to be completely dominated by an extremely powerful Arch-Suppressor Laguas on the 18th floor, even with extra lives bought.

Quite overtuned at 2.8M HP, best I could get was 48%. Have killed before according to my Gatekeepers achievement, but this fight was ridiculous.

Just managed to solo this as BM Hunter (203 equipped). The layer 18 boss was literally one-shotting the pet. With a regular melee.

However, his run speed was nearly 0% in the tar trap, and I had the anima power to limit enemy target range to within 12 yards of me, so I just kept kiting in circle to make sure he stays within the tar, reapply tar, resurrect pet, and keep at it.

Seems very over tuned for solo content. Especially for the first layer and quest content.

Just tried this with 191 retri paladin, wiped 5 times at the trash in 17 floor and got thrown out of Torgast.
I would say It's impossible to solo this with ret pal. Aparently all the boosts from anima cells that increase your health and damage, increases the mobs health and damage as well. Forget it.

Just to be clear, this quest unlocks the Twisting Corridors when you complete it. The Twisting Corridors don't use the level up logic of the other Torghast towers; you must start at the first layer, and the bosses at floors six, twelve and eighteen drop the three "signs of the lion". As mentioned in other posts, if you find the last boss too hard, you can just do up to floor six three times, or floors six, twelve, and then six to get the quest items. Once you kill the boss on the 18th floor you get an achievement for doing level 1 and unlock the ability to do other layers - which do not offer soul ash rewards (see https://www.wowhead.com/guides/torghast-tower-of-the-damned-overview#twisting-corridors).

I ran this on my BM Hunter (ilevel 182) together with my husband's destruction lock (ilevel 200) and it was relatively easy, especially if you pick the right anima powers from each swirly - I ended up with around 90 and had almost that number of soul remnant's blessings. I would recommend doing it with a friend rather than by yourself as a) it's more fun and b) as long as one of you can tank (or have a tanking pet) it's much easier.

If you're not a druid, doing layer 8 (all 18 floors) will grant you a mount to use in the Maw, so if you have the time/inclination to do 8 x 18 floors, go for it!

Solo'ed as ilvl 178 enhancement Shaman. Up to the 17th floor was relatively easy, but it took quite a few hours. 17th and 18th floor was challenging and led to my first and only death, but it was very much doable.

These are some anima powers that helped me immensely and you might want to look for (I was probably lucky with my selection, to be honest):

- Deadened Earth — Cooldown of Earth Elemental reduced by 40%. Takes off the pressure from you on the big elites, use the elemental every time you are unsure of whether you can kill a pack. Also use it at the start of every floor boss so you can focus on quickly nuking them down.

- Deathseer's Whip — Dropping a totem grants your party 15.0 seconds of Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust/Heroism Icon Heroism. This can only occur once every 30 seconds.

- If you can, Combine Deathseer's Whip with: Furious Spirits — While under the effects of Bloodlust Icon Bloodlust/Heroism Icon Heroism, also gain Ascendance. This way you can drop a totem and immediately use Windstrike to kill your enemies from afar. At the highest floors you should have so much haste you can use this ranged attack almost without internal cooldowns. And it lets you stay out of bad things on the floor.

- Frostbite Wand — Damaging an enemy will also apply Frostbite, dealing damage equal to 50% of their total hit points. After 4 sec, the enemy will start regenerating all of the lost health over a period of 10 sec. Creatures can only be Frostbitten once. This is great if you are going for an offensive strategy, and it saves you a lot of time. Many mobs can be killed in 2-3 hits before they start to regenerate.

- If you can, combine Frostbite Wand with: Spike of the Ice Guardian — Frost Shock instantly kills targets below 10% health. OR Disemboweler's Hook - Damaging an enemy whose health is below 10% will disembowel them, instantly killing them. Either way, this means you can first get the enemy down to 50%, and then you only need to get them to 10% for instakill. Extremely helpful on elites or bosses with lots of HP.

Apart from that, use Hex on the upper floors as much as you can. Better safe than sorry! As for totems, I mostly just used windfury and healing stream totem. Upgrades to overall health, healing and astral shift was also very useful. And kill those pesky maw rats as quickly as possible ;)

It appears that there are 18 (Yes, EIGHTEEN) floors to this Twisting Corridors instance. As if doing the 6 Floors of the usual Choreghast was not enough...

Now for the quest, you get the clues needed on Floors 6/12/18.

What you CAN do is actually pick the first clue from Floor 6, then quit and re-join the instance. The second clue will appear at Floor 6 now. Same for clue three.

Thus, to save yourself from the frustration of the higher floors and the sheer annoyance of some classes (i.e. Rogue) being UNABLE to solo things, just pick your clue from Floor 6, and restart the instance. The next clue WILL APPEAR in Floor 6 again!

Overall, you will do x3 up to Floor 6 and complete the quest. Each time hitting Floor 6 gaining a clue.

As a Feral 185ilvl, I managed to reach Floor 14. This was a dead end since the Floor boss (with 1Mil HP) auto-attack dropped me to 30% HP. Yes, 1 auto-attack sent me to 30% HP...

Important note: YOU CANNOT DO THIS QUEST WITH INSTANCE/GRP FINDER. We spent 30mins forming a group only to realize that we weren't allowed to queue and each one of us had to do this solo...

I know Blizzard tends to have a somewhat contemptuous attitude towards their own players, but this feels like a complete piss-take.

18 floors of Torghast to do this quest is pure insanity. I know Blizz wants Torghast to be challenging and similar to roguelikes, but the thing is, roguelikes work because they're quick. Torghast is not quick. I'm looking at a time investment of several hours to do this quest, at least. It's fine to have challenging content, but don't tie questlines to it that everyone has to do for the story.

I feel like there's a dev or devs at Blizz HQ giggling to themselves, saying 'that'll teach the bastards to badmouth us'. It feels like a punishment, especially seeing as you get absolutely bugger all for such a big investment of time. Just to get a pet will require you to do 36 floors. No thanks.

I'm .. traumatized. Deeply. I consider Thorgast a drag under normal circumstances.But finishing off the boss on 6th floor, only to realize that it continues in the same monotonous strain? That put me right back in the worst nightmares of my childhood: endless corridors with identical doors leading off to other endless corridors with similar doors *shudders*.

Luckily I wiped on the lvl. 12 boss.If I had actually finished him, only to realize that the nightmare had only just begun, I would definitely have lost it.

I want to agree with the top commenter spooky. I had a bit different situation, but the essence of it is nearly the same. Blizzard simply doesn't communicate with players, and sometimes it seems like they'd intentionally like to screw up with us.

When I went to Twisting Corridors, I already knew that it contains 18 floors, so I planned according to this. I had luck with anima powers, there were times when I marched across the floors with 8 infernals thanks to them, and this "infernal army" literally melted down the trash mobs even on the higher level floors. I spent about 1,5 hours to climb up to the 18th floor even with such a good power. But what I met there was a complete nonsense. The final boss had 3500k health, and if it wouldn't be enough, summoned 3 adds with 500k hp each. I wasn't even close to die on the first 17 floors, but wiped 8 times on the last boss in a way, that I wasn't even close to half it's hp pool. I wasted about 2 hours in total for nothing, just because according to Blizzard Torghast is soloable. Maybe for melee classes it is actually. But for a glasscannon who wears cloth it's clearly not. Or maybe only that boss was beyond my possibilities (ilvl 205 destro warlock), and another one I could simply kill - but if that's the situation, than we arrived back to Blizzard's love, the RNG which is the most unfair way to decide things, such as the end boss of Torghast. Of course I felt - and still feel - myself fooled.

By the way, Torghast is the worst thing that Blizzard ever created in WoW. They looked up the worst aspects of the game, sent to the hell, made a pact with the devil itself and forged this stinky crap called Torghast. It's nothing more than killing tons of trash mobs for literally nothing. Ok, for a small bunch of Soul Ash. But at Twisting Corridors you literally spend time with killing trash without any reward. You get a mount at the end, if you complete 144 floors of 8 layers. And that's all. They should seriously rethink it, and probably give some - maybe smaller, but still something - rewards after completing floors in layers, because it's very annoying to waste the time and fail at the end for literally nothing. Pathetic game design.

All I can say is wow. Wish I had come here and read before I wasted 2 hours of my life. 183IL Vengence DH. Pretty much a cake walk till I got to floor 17 and then the trash just tore me to pieces. Don't waste your time with this nonsense. Blizzard seriously? This is supposedly for one person to do?

One of the things I have always loved about WoW is that the Developers really care about making the game an enjoyable experience. When objectives are blocked by poorly thought out quests like Signs of the Lion it seems like there is a malicious element there that makes things absolutely horrid for 99.9% of the players. Making things miserable for players and then sitting back and saying "get gud nubs" makes it look like you are just really tired of your jobs and wish we would all go away. I certainly hope this is not the case, if not, then please fix this moronic quest so that it is at least doable by well geared and experienced players that are making a serious effort. I do realize that you get messages from the whiny elitist players that say things are too easy, maybe that is why you up the difficulty level to the stars. These are people that, when given a truckload of diamonds, would complain about the color of the truck. You will never please them lol. Try to remember that it is more important to keep the silent 99.9% of the players happy than it is to bow to the "needs" of some players that have no intention of ever being satisfied. Overall, I think Torgast is a fantastic place, it just needs a little fine-tuning so that we can get our objectives completed and move on with our progression. Maybe leave the over-the-top difficult phase of it for those that enjoy that sort of thing and make it an achievement rather than torturing the general player base with it?

Soloed 18 floors as a 186 frost mage - incredibly tricky and took over 4 hours..

Was lucky there were no caster bosses - it was a kiting fiesta.

Lots of tricky pulls especially in 13-17 with multiple 400-500k elites in a pack..

Could easily imagine a set of floors and bosses where this would’ve been impossible

This questline is outrageously unfair to those of us who don't play in groups.

I read that you can do it by repeating floors one to six - which is all fine and well - but for those of us who would like to do the whole 18 - why did they need to make it so ridiculously difficult.

I am a casual player - sure - but I'm not a noob - I've been playing WoW since 2009 and I'm not that bad at it.

I have spent the entire weekend trying to get past level 11 and now I've just given up. My GS is 181 currently - what does it need to be? >200?

I know Blizz are now only interested in catering to their competitive E-Sports players - but its not fair to offer a "1 man" dungeon and then make it impossible to get through for normal gamers.

This is seriously irritating.

Before floor 12, cleared everything and anyone very carefully, piece of cake and then...BAMMMM 3 hours later.....Floor 12, Writhing Soulmass 1.1M, it's a nightmare. Misdirection doesn't help at all! Pets are dying fast and I died 6 times. And what did I get for being there. NOTHING! I will not do this again on my one. Only with a large group or not at all! BYE

I did my first run here while on the quest Signs of the Lion and killing the final boss got me both this achievement (Twisting Corridors: Layer 1) and the quest completion.

My gear level was 199, and after reading the comments here I was a bit worried so I collected everything I could on the way up. When I reached the final boss I had 82 anima powers. (I sure hated to see them go.)

The end boss was Kosarus the Fallen, and he was challenging for me as a boomkin druid but I didn't use all of my deaths up. His 'Predator's Gaze' ability makes him enrage if you move around, so watch for that mechanic. (If I read the comments right you may get other bosses, I expect they also have some tricks up their sleeves.) Good luck!

I just did this on RetPal and it was my easiest Torghast run to date. BUT, on the other hand, I also started with the power that activates Seraphim for 8 seconds after every single kill, which should be legendary quality in my opinion, since it is so incredibly overpowered.
AND, in addition, I also got "Holy damage stuns enemies", "Crusade is double in strength", "HP spenders cost 1 less" and "start every floor with 1.5 minutes of Crusade active".
AND, even more, I am 193GS, in comparison to every other run I did before this, which had about 1/3 to 1/2 leveling gear.

The only tip I can give, is, restart a few times and try for an OP starting ability. And after that, do your due diligence, full clear every floor... and most importantly focus all your powers on power ups and even more heavily on synergies.
As I mentioned, I had three Epic/Rare powers that all synergized heavily during Crusade, leading to the final boss being stunned for about 80% of his HP bar; in addition to a few others that ALSO synergized strongly, even outside of Crusade.

Just completed on my ilvl188 shadow priest, no deaths.

The first 12 levels were quite straightforward, i.e. the usual Boreghast grind. Pass level 12 where it start to get hard is where the build i had actually started to shine. The key skills were Fragments of Obscurity x2 which dropped the cooldown of Fade to 10 seconds, and Volatile Phantasm which creates a 10 second taunt. This made everything except the last boss pretty trivial - i was hitting 60k-70k dps on end of level bosses with 300k-400k shadow word death crits thanks to 199 stacks of Death Harvester.

Last boss was hard because I screwed up the start and it usually killed the taunt before the 10 seconds were up but I managed to heal just enough to keep me going. Still took me a good 3 hours to finish which is stupid, I had no idea going in it would be that long. Blizz really need to put a warning in about the length.

It's sick to put this as part of the main storyline. It should be for grinding freaks only.

I wasted 3 hours of my life, on 18 floors of torment. And what I got was one shot x 5 times by the final boss.

It made me rethink about my life. Why would I spend hours everyday on repetitive grinding? Why can't I enjoy more of real life?

I logged off when the punishing guy is chasing me with the final boss on 18th floor. I uninstalled the game, literally. I pre-paid 6 months of subscription and I count it as sunk cost to my stupidity and vicious game developers.

I feel so relieved and happy about this decision.

Well I think the majority of posts on this thread make it pretty clear. Blizz, you really screwed up with this one.

I'm not clear (not even sure the Devs are either) what type of player this Q was designed for. The whole 'rescue Anduin' element of the Torghast challenges should have been created as a 5 group dungeon. Most (I hope) of us have jobs & a life outside WOW, spending 3+ hrs on a single Q is utterly ridiculous. Paricularly one that hardly anyone seems to be able to complete.
I opted for the 3 x Floors 1-6 approach & even that was bad enough due to certain mobs swamping me on Floor 5. Then I simply decided that trying to wipe every enemy on each floor was not conducive to my mental health. How on earth Blizz envisaged an 18 floor death grind as a solo run god alone knows.

BTW...each time you re-enter the instance to grab clues 2 & 3 you undertake a different run environment to the one you did 1st time.

Over the years every expansion has had it's share of comically bad Q's, but this one takes the cheese. But at least the rewards are good...oh hang on!

Definitely recommend doing the first 6 layers three times to finish this quest if you're not a lover of repetitive grinding! LOL, I mean it's still repetitive, however you get to walk away in between picking up each quest item :)

I came to this page looking for a way not to get burned to death by fire traps or hacked to death by a combination of rotating overhead axes-fire traps-hurled green acid. This is so Mario Bros and hateful. If I didn't keep moving, waiting to time my moves forward, I was zapped with undodgeable green acid. I took so long reading these posts, I was thrown out of Torghast.

I returned to Twisting Corridors hoping for another version based on what people said here and got it - spiral staircases high in the void. Each time I was feared I thought I would go over the edge. (I've since heard that you won't go over the edge while being feared, but it depends where you are when the spell ends.) On the open platforms, white swirls (like those that precede a tower attack in the Maw) dropped Foresworn dive-bombing Forsworn like eagles. The next day I got another version that started with heaps of bones and skeletons like in the Outland dungeons. Much easier. I received good anima powers and help from various npcs with gatekeepers, including an aspirant, a venthyr and a group of Maldraxxi - but I couldn't finish off Gherus the Chained on 12.

It helps to build rep in the Maw with Ve'nari. She sells permanent upgrades (goods and favored status with brokers in Torghast) like: Bangle of Seniority, Rank Insignia: Acquisitionist, Loupe of Unusual Charm, and Phantasmic Infuser. To build up Stygia for higher priced items, I made sure to leave the Maw each day before the notice of the The Eye of the Jailer got too intense.
Once you rescue one or more companions (followers) from Torghast, your command table will start offering follower quests once a week to earn Stygia and 120 Soul Ash.
See the Achievement Extremely Ravenous awarded for choosing different anima powers.

Dealing with the fire traps and combined fire traps and axes

The swinging axes are spaced an equal distance apart, so you can move forward on the upswing. Some axes have a dark line on the floor marking the path of the blade, but most don't. Use any class or covenant ability that will move you forward. Spells that allow you to target where you're going will work best. Protective bubbles and shields may also help. Examples of movement abilities:

The Venthyr covenant ability Door of Shadows looks flashy but allows you to move to a precise targeted spot. If you get an anima cell choice to buff up this ability - take it, there will usually be traps ahead (or mobs to avoid).
Class movement abilities include the Warrior Heroic Leap, Monk Roll, Mage Blink, Outlaw* rogue Grappling Hook. If there is a convenient NPC just past the traps, a rogue can use Shadowstep to reach the NPC.

If there is a lever just past the trap, use it to turn off the trap. If you die and have to run through floor again, the trap will be off.
If you don't move forward through the combined traps or take too much time, you will be blasted with seriously damaging spells cast from an unseen source in front of you.
*You cannot change specs, armor or weapons in Torghast.

If you kill trader with anima cage - he will be dead on every other floors, where he is supposed to be.

For example, killing trader on 3rd floor makes him dead on 9th and 15th floors.

Thank you to everyone for the tips on this one. I avoided this quest for a couple weeks before I decided I had to give it a try. Took me about 90 minutes on my 177 BM Hunter. The bosses got progressively more difficult, which I expected, with the final one being a royal pain. Was able to down after to two tries and blowing all CD's and rezzing my pet once. Note to self, all CD's reset after you die, so having Primal Rage at the ready along with trinkets and Exhilaration and covenant ability helped.

This kind of shows everything wrong with this current version of Blizzard. This isn't fun, it isn't rewarding, it is just a grind and it drags and it feels like a waste of time even when you win. Very frustrating.

I was late on this quest. Tried it first time couple weeks back not knowing what hell awaited me.. did it solo, got to floor 12 and then it was the last boss that was impossible for me to kill (goxul the devourer) im so glad I checked out the comments here about doing the first 6 floors 3 times.

I read all this and finally decided to try and do this quest. I had about 180 ilevel, so nothing that great but I was hoping good enough for a quest that would bring you here. Boy was I wrong...

I did Twisting Corridors (TC) on Layer 1 of course and it seemed really easy at first, until I hit Level 11 and then it was like hitting a wall. I got 1 shot by a trash mob once and then I got to boss on Level 12 and it was just forget it. Boss had 1 mill hp and I couldn't even get him to under 50% even though I thought I had some pretty good anima powers.

So, so much for doing this the normal way so I went to this method of doing level 1 through 6 x 3 times. Seems stupid but I see no other choice.

Looking on the forums there are people saying you should be Mythic geared for TC and have Ve'nari all the way up to the equivalent of exalted so you can get all his Torghast related buffs. Of course that seems crazy if a quest for the storyline sends you here.

Some other say that you should do this in a group.

Also, I should mention that doing TC 1 through 6 will not be like a normal Torghast run. It's done differently, whether through intention or just normal Blizz bad design and too much RNG. I've done it where I barely got any Anima Powers at all or Remnants like a normal Torghast run would. So even the level 6 or even floor bosses can be harder with the lack of those buffs.

I'm guessing it's because the RNG for picking these levels sometimes picks levels that are so easy that there is no room for much mobs, phantasms or anima powers. For instance, I got one of the floors that were used for the Thrall quest. I have never seen this floor in a normal Torghast run, but I think the lazy Blizz guys just use RNG and a TC run can have any floor. From the entire floor I only had 2 Anima Powers, 135 phantasms and 3 x Soul Remnant's Blessing. If you're unlucky enough to get several of these you're going to be in trouble.

On the plus side, even if you do a full 18 level run you won't get any Soul Ash or chance at a Legendary memory. Because even a full run offers nothing but an Achieve and some cosmetic stuff (toy, pet, mount, title) depending on what Layer you finish. This stuff doesn't scale, so just wait till later in the xpac if you're into this stuff and come back geared and just breeze through it.

Is there anyone who thinks these Blizz designers know what they are doing anymore?

Also, I absolutely can't stand Mort'regar, so if you're going to do it this screwed up way you might as well exit and reenter if you get a zone you don't like. That's what I did.

I totally RESENT having to do Twisting Corridors 3x 6 to find these clues for a part of the game = running TC = I have NO ZERO NADA interest in running on alts. One character is all you need to do Twisting Corridors as the few rewards are all account bound, so WHY ARE WE FORCED TO RUN THIS ON MULTIPLE ALTS ?

Right now I have four waiting to do this waste of time and not thrilled about it. I'm only doing it on one now (the third time doing this "fun" bit of Torghie), as apparently the story after you kill Sire Denathrius won't progress past General Drevan if you have not completed "Signs of the Lion" - so you don't see the story, get the reward, etc., after you kill him in Castle Nathria. Bravo Blizz....

TC is suppose to be the challenge/fun for people and that's great - I'm all for OPTIONAL fun content that specific people/groups like to do. I will do it on specific class or tow and maybe have fun - but for the STORY?

Forcing us to go in here multiple times as it's part of the story so not really optional is a horrid design choice imho. I really don't want to WASTE - and yes I view it as a 100% WASTE of time to have to go run TC on every alt for the story content. Even a fast 3x6 is still 1-2hours at least. Multiple that by your alts and yeah, no thanks.

In all honesty I find Torghast and Twisting Corridors lazy game development as there is not story, no quests, just repetitive floor by ad nauseum floor of the same thing - it's not fun or rewarding the way it is.

This should be a fun element of the game and the majority of people complain about it NOT being fun, too hard, boring and a time sink they don't enjoy - who is Blizz designing for lately? Mythic+++ only players?

And the reward you get for this absolute slog of a quest? 50 soul ash. FFS, I made it to level 16 before I got vaporized by some mobs that weren't hitting that hard even one floor prior.

Playing Torghast as a solo player is just the worst. Highly luck dependent on whether or not you get anima powers that are good enough to get you to the boss. This should have been 3 separate quests and not one long chain of floors.

I've just come back from a month or so break and jumped straight into Twisting Corridors for the first time as I stopped playing shortly before unlocking it. I feel like I'm playing a different game to everyone else. I LOVED Twisting Corridors. It's literally the bit of Torghast I've been waiting for. Is there something I've missed? I was roughly 190 iLvl when I cleared it and I had no issues. Maybe it was due to the Anima powers I had (Death Knight) but I loved playing through it. To see this unanimously hated is baffling. Sure, there's no rewards, but I'm mainly playing it because I enjoy it. The only boss that I know of that is frustrating is the blue devourer thing, but you can easily counter that with certain anima powers (which you can prepare for using the purple hologram on shop floors).

I dislike how they did Torghast earlier on as it makes it a mandatory chore to do, but Twisting Corridors is the most fun I've had with Torghast so far. Is that just because I'm playing a Death Knight or what? I am a bit out of the loop. Was TC nerfed shortly after being released or what?

I've done this quest in 3 weeks. No need to rush. TC one time a week is enough boring for me.
(Of course, you can also enter TC, do 6 floors, get out, and enter again more two times, same day if you want.)
(Or adventure 18 floors in one time. I really DO NOT recommend it, but you decide!)

- 1st week, 1st clue. Easy.
- 2nd week, 2nd clue. Piece of cake.
- 3rd week, 3rd clue. No problems, no hard bosses found.

And yes, I've killed "Goxul The Devourer".
On the 6th floor of course, last Boss, 3rd week. 302K of life. He is just a blue cupcake. rofl :-)
My BM Hunter was very powerful up there. Besides that, he (my Hunter) uses a FEROCITY PET with PRIMAL RAGE (Hero).

Idk what is happening inside Blizzard. It seems that those programmers did not have a childhood.
We play WOW to have fun, not to work and waste time.
They should invest in giving us more epic WEAPONS, more epic GEAR, more awesome Flying Mounts, launch the "Mythic Dungeons Finder", launch the "RAID all types Finder", launch specific run "Torghast Finder".

We, The Customers, think that what is really excelent in WOW is having at least one "CHAR" of every CLASS.
We want to be HEALERS, TANKS, DPS (my order of taste). We want to enjoy the "CHARs".
For this reason, I think that more "account bound things" should exist, in order to save time.
Torghast, and its QUEST SEQUENCE, is one example: you do it with one "CHAR" and it is enough.
If you want to replay it, no problem, go ahead: but this must be a customer's decision.

Promote Torghast and other boring places: give us lots of gold, lots of emblems (or more gold), lots of flying mounts and battle pets, lots of epic gear and epic weapons, many excelent gifts (use imagination). This way, we can enter those boring places knowing that it would be a very nice thing to do. :-) We need REWARDS for our efforts!

And make us FLY ASAP, not walk, or run on the ground like worms.
And when in MAX LEVEL, make us also FLY in Timeless Isle and other "walking places".
And give us more gifts and gold, when looting mobs, when doing quests, when doing DGs and RAIDS. Please!
And give 80% more XP to HEALERS and TANKS when inside DGs and RAIDS. We need more of them in the game.
Simplify things: substitute all the EMBLEMS for GOLD. Simple as that! "Give us" GOLD to buy things with GOLD!
Simplify the progression of PROFESSIONS: make all of them simple as mining or skinning!

Oh, and pay us FAIRLY when changing emblems for gold. We played hard to get the emblems.
DO NOT STEAL FROM US, BLIZZARD!

We PAY MONEY to PLAY. Make us happy, Blizzard! Make us indicate WOW to EVERYONE! Be COMERCIAL!

Just a note, regular Twisting Corridors up to Layer 2 is not this difficult.

For some reason, in the context of the quest, it is stupid hard (the final boss in mine, Patrician Cromwell, had over 3M health and the damage ramped up to one-shot me).

I don't know why Blizz decided to do this, but it's dumb.

This is just the worst %^&*ing crap Bliz have ever pulled, you getting the quest, oh yeah let me do that one, i go to floor 6, think ok that's it but NO ^&*!ING WAY, you get another 6 floors, and another 6 floors, 3+ hours in i'm finally at floor 18, just to look at the boss with 3.3m life.

Oh yeah my pet died at every other boss (BM ilvl 191), so well i give it a try, the boss get 2 stacks and can now 2 shot my pet, so pet is useless, after 4 re summon of the pet, the boss is all the way down to almost 85% life left ONLY, all my cool downs are gone, and he now starts to 1 shot my pet, how the #$%^ are you suppose to do that crap ^&*!ing @#$% quest, so that's 3+ hours just wasted for !@#$ing nothing, thx Bliz@#$%.

Recommended item level for corridor 1 = 170. Baam..went in as 215 havoc.. wasted hours finally gotten some ok to use powers, had like 60+ stacks of the soul buff. Reached floor 13, killed some mobs.. nah i aint continuing that crap.. Things pre floor 13 was kinda easy with all the powers i had, 13 is just on different level. 36k hp and mobs hit me 5k a pop, this is just regular mobs.. cbf to even go through all the hassle to find out im gonna get raped by the boss like i almost did for the last boss at 12.

Glad to find out in wowhead that i can just repeat 1-6 x3 for this bs..

The reward of this quest is “Access to Twisting Corridors”. But the access, and each layer unlock, is account-wide, right? So, why is this quest offered to my alts again, who already have access to layer 5?

Am I missing something, or is this just a bug?

I could not agree more, and hope the powers that be at Blizz are actually paying attention to player comments. This is an exorbitant amount of time to spend on one quest, regardless of how you choose to complete it. Seems to me there is a great deal of content this go round that is designed simply to make us click, click, click, and wait, wait, wait. Example -- the amount of time it now takes to fly between the Shadowlands realms -- 3 to 4 minutes? I suppose that's great if you need a bathroom break. For those of us with alts that do not have teleport capability (and those of us with jobs and family and a LIFE outside of WoW), it's a great deal of wasted time and frustration, especially with the new requirements for flying capability AND the trashing of the flight master's whistle (which would at least save us a LITTLE time). I've been a loyal player since WoW's inception lo these many years, but I'm reaching the point where I'm ready to start looking elsewhere for gaming entertainment.

Blizzard, please can we have torgahst saved like an instance or raid? Its too long to do and not be able to save progress...
I don't plan on doing the same content more than once a week. I don't care if the floor randomly changed after logging back in later, and I have to start at the beginning of the floor. I just want to back on floor X, and not be on floor one....
It works with dungeons and raids, please make it work with torgahst!

Torghast and the time limit of mythic+ dungeons just ruined the game experience. Wow is now 10% of the fun it used to be.

Raids now have no importance and the best gear is about rushing mythics like a robot. I hope blizzard realizes it and learn from it for future expansions...

I'm not sure why people have so much trouble on the last boss of floor 18. I won on my second try (first one I accidentally hit my disengage macro and jump of the platform).

That said, full clear of all 18 floors. I focused on dmg and health mainly for boosts

This is much longer than the previous Torghast quests we have run up to this point. The floors were very linear, some practically straight lines. The amount of Elite enemies and overall enemy difficulty increased as the floors progressed. Each set of 6 floors had its own theme (this appears to be random). Since special encounters and Rares are random I didn't take note of them, but they were plentiful. I didn't bother with times since that will vary depending on your race, class, specialization, gear, item level, playstyle, anima powers, etc.

As already stated, if you cannot finish all 18 floors in one run, don't fret! You don't have to finish all 18 floors in one run. You get the next needed clue every 6 floors, every time you run it until you get all 3 clues!

I'll be sure to update this whenever I run it again

It is so great listening to all these people WHINE about how long this stuff takes....doubt few of you commenting here could have survived running MC or BWL back in the day (up to 6 hours and no gear at times) let alone something like the "perpetual" AV!

This quest is absolute trash. I've played this game since 2004 and I've seen some trash game design - killing 150 wyverns in Stonetalon to get 15 of their ears for example.

This quest sent me to Mort'regar and then forced me after 6 floors (maybe 8) of mort'regar to go to Twisting corridors. On floor 13 (so after 18 straight floors), the entire layer was just massively overpowered elites and me with 3 necromancer NPCs and my steward. Died 6 times, despite having 0 respawns for the last 2, broke every single equipped item, and the last quest item still hadn't been obtained. Died from a boss on the last layer that roams around, with 48 million HP. Maybe 4.8 million, who knows, because the UI is bad.

Solo, btw. I have never been more irate at this game than I am after failing this quest and leaving Tor'ghast without having finished it after 2 hours, on the last floor.

Made two horrible mistakes when starting this:

1. Testing out a new spec because I thought it would be 6 floors like everything else.
2. Choosing the freaking ability where it increases your dmg by 50% but reduces your movement speed every time you attack or heal.

This is freaking stupid lol. Had I known about the "Do floors 1-6 and rinse and repeat" method, I totally would have done it...but now I'm on 14 and am freaking committed. What a stupid quest though.

I already hate torghast and this is just icing on the cake of disappointment...

Still trying to figure out how do this find a clue thing on my Frost Mage

No its gear is not maxed out Faewoven gear and no legendary piece yet
but do have the shifting power buff

There is no way I'll solo this first 6 levels. .. can't imagine what the rest are like

The Last boss just repeatedly heals itself
there is no way to interrupt or steal the spells that often because of the cool down

I would love to know how to solo this
and because I've tried and I won't say failed... failed implies I had a chance

I am now questioning whether or not I wish to bother with this quest chain all it seems to give is access to more Torghast...

The worst part is you can't get so far.. then pause and continue another day from where you left off

I don't know who thought this one up .. I sure hope they have no part in the next Expansion
