You have acces to Choosing Your Purpose after complete The Master of Revendreth and the following quests:

1. The End of the Beginning Speak with the Voice of the Arbiter, Tal-Inara, in Oribos.

2. The Looming Dark Reveal the Jailer's plan.

If you choose Venthyr you gain acess to Sinfall and start .

If you choose Kyrian you gain acess to Among the Kyrian and start .

If you choose Necrolords you gain acess to Taking The Seat and start .

If you choose Nightfae you gain acess to The Heart of the Forest and start .

If you for some reason have bugged covenant UI and you cant choose covenant, try this:
/script PlayerChoiceFrame.ModelScene.ClearEffects = function() return end

If you click the NPCs and get no speech box, its the addon Immersion that's breaking it. Took a bit of testing but turning that off briefly fixed the issue.

Quest Name:	Start and description
1 The End of the Beginning	Quest start from Prince Renathal 50.2 28.3 First speak with General Draven He will take you to the Flightmaster. Mainly you need to go to Oribos and speak with Tal-Inara 38.8 69.4.
2 The Looming Dark	Listen to the conversation then will be a movie.
3 Choosing Your Purpose	You have to choose your Covenant. At first speak with all 4 representatives. Then go to table ( you have all information ovet there to ) When you will pick you will reach achievement Choosing Your Purpose.

OK, so I am on the last chapter of the Ardenweald story line and have just turned 60. No quest from Tal-Inara. So unlike past XPacs does this mean the I have to go thru the whole Revendreth story line BEFORE being able to pick a covenant? If that's the case I feel like that is truly a waste of time on not using that time building up my covenant.

Like the previous quest, this is also one of precious few that acknowledges other players exist in this single-player centric (since like Cata I guess) MMO. The dialogie here states as much that other mortals are in The Shadowlands doing their part, and choosing Covenants. I have bolded the passage in question:

Each covenant is vital to the Shadowlands. Though they often seem at odds with one another, this too is part of the Purpose. All the covenants need to grow strong to face the threat of the Jailer. But your efforts cannot be divided. They must be focused upon a single path. Other mortals may make a different choice. The time has come for you to take a side. Speak to your allies. Then make your choice at the map of the Shadowlands before me.

NPCs don't associate with any Covenant, so they only "other mortals" in The Shadowlands available are other player characters.

Just started SL in DF, and the covenant descriptions text when talking to the NPCs are in white, and most of them can't be seen, especially the Kyrian one. Also can't abandon it.

If you are unable to progress this quest as of writing this comment, there is a post on the blizzard support forums and they have confirmed a bug and no current work around for the issue currently.

If you are unable to progress this quest, write ticket in category: In-Game Issues > Quests and achievements > Stuck on quest.
Describe the problem and write name of the Covenant you wish to join.

GM will complete this quest for you.

I am at the last step of this quest, choose your Covenant and the map is highlighted but I can't interact with it. Disabled all addons, reset my client, different /scripts found online, nothing works. Raised a ticket which was automatically answered with a list of troubleshooting steps which i already did. I have raised another now, waiting for response. I'm so pissed it stops me from continuing the story...

Not sure if it's pre patch that did something but looking at previous comments there seems to be issues with this quest since it got added.

EDIT 29/07: got this response from GM responding to my ticket:

We have received several reports of this issue and can confirm it is not working as intended. Currently, we do not have a workaround or resolution that can be provided. We apologize for any inconvenience while our developers work as quickly as possible to resolve the issue.

so they aren't able to choose the covenant for me, just asking to wait and not confirming whether it will be sorted or not

Just to follow up on this as this character at level 70 that got stuck on this quest. Set your hearthstone to Ring of Fates, Oribos. Visit Chromie back in Stormwind/Orgrimmar and select, 7. I want to explore the afterlives. Hearth to Oribos, hopefully you should see the hand to interact with the table.
