This is frustrating... the dog runs PAST the mage in the bubble, up to 3 felhounds that can't be interacted with, and the dog/Khadgar just stand there...

Right now, this quest might bug out if you haven't started Suramar's staring questline. Khadgar will disappear and you have to do the quest again if you haven't started Suramar chain. So better finish up the starting instanced quest chains of Suramar before doing this quest.

EDIT: This quest still bugged out for my Alt hunter in 02/15/2017

I've get a problems with this quest... First, it's bugged 'cause dog disappear so I think to abandon quest. Second, about abandon, now I cannot find NPC that give quest... And that Suramar... Hate it.

Someone could help me what to do right now?

If you have to abandon the quest, you can pick it back up again near the Meredil flight path. Khadgar is there with the quest.

I think the issue that I had with the quest was that I was going ahead of khadgar. My advice would be stay pretty far behind him and let him reach the mages and finished talking before you approach.

I ran this 3 times. Third time, I read to run to the edge of the cliff, didn't work. I ran back to Khadgar and then it worked.

yet another attempt by Khadgar to kill me. cinematic pops when reaching the hounds... once it's finished I discover that a pack of Duskwatch Marauders spawned off screen and killed me while that was happening

Good god... Glitchy Quest is messed up.. ><

So attempt 1: I didnt get to say ready it started on its own. Got to hounds, nothing.

Attempt 2: Tried going to edge of cliff. Nothing.

Attempt 3: They vanished after pulling 6 withers... Ran on anyway, nothing...

Attempt 4: I stayed 5-10 yds BEHIND him at all times. When we reached end, I ran to the cliff and back to get him to talk... He did a spell, then nothing... So I tried running to the cliff again and on the way back the cut screen FINALLY started with me between the hounds...

This was my experience, I hope it'll help someone else do it a BIT faster...

The day I did this the Dal pet battle was bugged (Fail to create battle 6 times) and my Surmar quest refused to notice me moving into the area I was suppose to be in... So it could be the quest or it could be WoW... Either way, it was a VERY annoying morning..

Unbelievable. A quest shouldn't be available to you if you have to do a separate quest line to prevent it from bugging out. I spent far too much time trying to figure out what's wrong, and wasted my time opening a ticket just to be redirected here by a blizzard rep. From the way the blizz rep handled the ticket, it doesn't really seem like they care about addressing this bug either.

If like me, you abandoned the quest after it glitched (that happens if you haven't completed the opening quest line in Suramar) you can find Khadgar again at his original spot at 38, 47. He is Not standing near the Meredil flight path as others have suggested.

After completing In Defense of Dalaran a quest will show up by your artifact altar to empower your weapon with a 3rd relic. Hope this answers people's questions regarding the hunter's campaign for the 3rd relic.

Doesn't take too long to do the opening questline if you glitch. Just go to the spot where you use Khadgar's wand, cast it on the twinkly stuff on the path killing some easy NPCs, escort the skinny lady who appears (forgot her name), let her discover the cave, kill the 'mini boss', search the cave with her as she does her RP... when she says this is the perfect home and needs allies, giving you three quests, you can stop there (You don't have to continue with quests like "an old ally".) and go back to Khadgar and do the finding the mages quest. Sorry I don't know all the names of these but it takes like 10 minutes.

Start quest, mark the dog. Follow the dog and drop off quest at the end.

I don't give a damn how "bugged" this quest is for you all..

What happened to the mages?
Did the Houndmaster take them with him or did his 'dogs' finish their meal before pissing over Khadgar in passing.. seriously, I blinked and it was all over.

quest seems to bug if the WQ "Defending Shalaran" is up - Baron and Khadgar disappear when near the hound area :(

If you abandoned the quest or can't find Khadgar, go to Suramar @ 48,47.

The exclamation mark for this quest will only show if you turn on "trivial quests" in the minimap options.

Follow Baron as he tracks the scent of the mages.

	Find the missing mages (1)

Description

This is the last known location of the missing Kirin Tor. There isn't much evidence, other than a torn piece of cloth, which looks to be from one of our tabards.

The scrap may be small, but it should be heavy with the essence of magic. We can only hope that Baron can catch the scent and track down the mages.
