Do not finish this quest before finishing the bonus objective Raze Hel. Doing so will teleport you back to Valdisdall without warning. You can still run back to Helheim and finish the bonus objective, but it's quite a detour.

Paid in Lifeblood awards Renewed Lifeblood, 17 gold, a quest's worth of experience, and a choice between two artifact relics from those listed at the top. Your choice of relics depends on your class and loot specialization, and the details of the relic are different for each class, specialization, and character level (the item level depends on your level when you finish the quest; at level 104, they're item level 743, and give +15 item levels). As a level 104 feral druid, the Cursed Kvaldir Blood gives +15 Item Levels, and +1 Rank: Feral Power ("Increases the critical strike chance of Shred by 5%), while the Sliver of Helfrost gives +15 Item Levels, and +1 Rank: Tear the Flesh ("Increases damage dealt by Rake by 7%").

Unfortunatly the confrontation part of this quest doesn't take place in a phased area, meaning that if you're playing on a PVP server you can very much get killed whilst listening to Helya and Garhal talking. If this happens, even if you release and run back (and restart the confrontation) you'll get stuck and won't be able to escape Helheim. However all you'll need to do is just to abandon and then retake the quest from back where you first picked it up (and hope you don't get killed again).
Unfortunately this area seems to be a spot where people seem to like to gank others.

TL;DR if you get killed during the confrontation, just abandon the quest and retake it, else you wont be able to complete it.

For those worried about rares and treasures in Helheim (particularly Soulthirster, which drops the pet Bleakwater Jelly), you CAN return to this area after completing this quest.

The quest description states "If you have any other business here, I would suggest finishing it now", making it seem like you won't be able to return. The portal to Helheim will stay where it is, and you can always get back later.

Do note that after completing Paid in Lifeblood, you get ported a little way away so it's a little bit of nuisance to get back, but there is nothing preventing you from returned at any point in the future.

Coordinates to Helya's throne to leave Helheimt are /way 34.5 29.0.
Then you will be ported out near Valdisdall in Stormheim and you will ultimately turn in the quest to Havi.

Hi everybody,

this quest didn't grant me (Frost DK) the relic reward. Quest description said I'd get the Renewed Lifeblood plus one of a choice of two relics. I received the Renewed Lifeblood, but wasn't presented with the choice between the two relics, so I didn't get either! I read on the official forums that this was a bug in the Legion Beta too... anybody else with this problem? What can be done?

I believe that the "To Helheim and Back" part of the achiev is a reference to Sabaton's song To Hell and Back or maybe the 1955 movie To Hell and Back.

Hello I am on Chapter 5 in Stormheim but I can't find the quest "To Helheim and back" I had the quest in my Quest log but I abandoned it by mistake. Now I don't know where to start it again. Can someone help me? I am lost lol

I started running around with Ashildir before taking the quest, and when I got to the docks on the west side she despawned. Retraced back east and she respawned as my party member but not with the quest available. I had to log out to the character selection menu and log back in to 'reset' it.

As a furry Warrior when you leave Helya's realm you'll get this dialog: "This isn't over, mortal! I will see my blades returned, and your soul suffer in my grasp!"

Unsure what the deal is, but as of SL prepatch a lot of Relic quests (including this one) don't seem to be offering all the options they should. For example, according to this I should be being offered Bones of Geir as i'm an arms warrior, but its not listed in the rewards. And I'm level 45 with all the slots on my weapon unlocked.

Turn in is to Havi, located right next to where Skyhold's jump point to Stormheim drops you if you are a Warrior. For everyone else, his coords are /way 60.13 50.77

If you are the sort of completist who likes to make sure your Legion legendary weapons get the correct relics - visit your bank and your weapons to check their relic sockets before turning this in.

Yes, the iLvl bonus of the item will scale with your character level and there might even be better on the AH since sometimes the drops from heroics or mythics proc as Bind On Equip instead of soulbound. But at least you won't be feeling like you're just overwriting one named relic-gem with another of the same, unless you wanted to.
