how to start the fight against celestials?

Did these 4 bosses on the PTR today, they were all faction tagged so smacking them a bit was enough for me to get credit wile a small raid was taking them down. Allot of the mecanics seemed to one/two shot people but with the battleground style graveyard and short run to the arena it seems zerging will be a valid strategy (I had to run back in quite a few times as I wasn't grouped and had no healer).

Some of the bosses abilities:

Yu'lon (Dragon)

Frontal fire breath with a stacking +5% fire damage taken
random fire zones spawned on the raid, these can overlap meaning that will kill the person standing them in ~2s
Sartharion style wave that covers the entire area with the exception of a single gap

Chi-Ji (Crane)

Fire tornados around the arena
Will place a yellow circle and begin to AoE blast, anyone not in the circle will die
spawn allot of little cranes that slowly move away from the boss doing a mini aoe blast to anyone in melee range

Xuen (Tiger)

Tank stacking(?) -10% armor debuff
He'll trow balls at the raid damaging anyone in the impact area (probably dodgable)
[Unavoidable lightning AoE on the raid

Niuzao (Ox) (can't say I fully understood this one)

Strong Hellfire like AoE
Stacking buff to stamina (maybe just on tank spec people) which might indicate a gatekeeper like mecanic
Will run around wile doing it's Hellfire like AoE

Just tried killing these bosses with a few friends from another server.
I'm on a very low population PvP server, and they are on a very high pop PvE server.

After killing two of the bosses so far, I have yet to get credit for the kills in the quest objectives.
(Even though they are tap to faction.)

So as of this comment, they are either, not granting credit to members of other servers, or the credit is simply not displaying in the quest objectives list.

Either way, a warning to people wanting to do this with friends and getting pulled to other servers hoping to get credit for the kills.

Edit: Just completed killing all of the world bosses required for this, and though the quest tracker did not update, upon getting the achievement for killing all of them, the quest was available to turn in. So in other words, kill them until you get the achievement, despite whatever the quest log might say. :3

I don't get the Emperor's way quest, I don't know what I'm doning wrong or way I don't just get the quest.
I've got they other quest on the island but not that one -_- So someone have any suggastion? Thanks!

This has got to be one of the worst chain ending quest. It's only been a week and I can't find a group willing to down more than one boss, and now with the rotation bandaid it's very very annoying.

I hate to ask a dumb question, but, if you have already gotten the achievement for killing the 4 celestials BEFORE accepting this quest, do you have to do it again after you accept the quest?

Here is a breakdown of all steps with short instructions and timing. As of 5.4 this should take anywhere between 8 and 15 weeks to complete.

Chapter I: Trial of the Black Prince (1-2 Weeks)
The timing assumes you wait until you're on The Strength of Ones Foes quest before entering any raids, and do every raid available.

Alliance:Speak to Brewmaster Tsu or Seer Yong to recieve Mysterious Note, which starts Stranger in a Strange Land. Go see Wrathion in the Tavern in the Mists.

Horde:Speak to Kurong Caskhead or Cook Tsu to recieve Mysterious Note, which starts Stranger in a Strange Land. Go see Wrathion in the Tavern in the Mists.

A Legend in the Making - share a drink with Wrathion and listen to his story.

Trial of the Black Prince - obtain Honoured reputation with The Black Prince, requires a couple of hours of grinding, depending on your spec and gear it can be faster. Most level 90 humanoid mobs and rares provide reputation with The Black Prince. Best place to grind rep is probably Isle of Thunder.

The Strength of One's Foes - collect 10xSigil of Power and 10xSigil of Wisdom. They drop in all Pandaria raids on any difficulty. This includes: Mogu'Shan Vaults, Heart of Fear, Terrace of Endless Spring, Throne of Thunder and Siege of Orgrimmar. Should be able to obtain within 1-2 weeks, depending on you luck. Leave Terrace for last, in case you get enough drops in other raids, so that you can complete the next step without having to do it twice.

Fear Itself - get a drop from Sha of Fear, the final boss in Terrace of Endless Spring. If you already cleared Terrace during the lockout, you can still come back on LFR and kill Sha of Fear again to get the drop.

Breath of the Black Prince - speak to Wrathion and get your first (now pretty useless) reward - a legendary weapon gem with +500 to your primary stat. Can only be used in Sha-Touched weapons from Heart of Fear and Terrace of the Endless Spring raids.

Chapter II: Wrathion's War (3 Weeks)
The timing assumes you do not obtain any Valor Points in the first week until you're on A Test of Valor quest.

Alliance:Meet the Scout/Horde:Meet the Scout - fly over to Krasarang Wilds to talk to an NPC

Alliance:A King Among Men/Horde:The Might of the Warchief - complete a simple kill quest in Krasarang Wilds

Alliance:Lion's Landing/Horde:Domination Point - unlocks a quest hub in Krasarang Wilds

Incoming... - speak to Wrathion

A Test of Valor - get 3,000 valor points. Any valor gained prior to picking up this quest does not count. Takes 3 weeks if you haven't got any valor yet the week you get this quest.

The Measure of a Leader - speak to Wrathion

The Prince's Pursuit - obtain Revered reputation with The Black Prince, requires a couple of hours of grinding, depending on your spec and gear it can be faster. Most level 90 humanoid mobs and rares provide reputation with The Black Prince. Best place to grind rep is probably Isle of Thunder.

Alliance:The Lion Roars/Horde:Glory to the Horde - win one PVP match in both Temple of Kotmogu and the Silvershard Mines.

Alliance:A Change of Command/Horde:A Change of Command - kill an NPC in Krasarang Wilds, can be done with a group of 2-3 players.

Alliance:Call of the Packmaster/Horde:The Soul of the Horde - speak to Wrathion and get your second reward - an extra socket for any weapon. Still pretty useful, but nothing ground-breaking.

Chapter III: Two Princes (6-12 weeks)
Timing assumes a weekly clear of Throne of Thunder and Siege of Orgrimmar bosses that drop relevant quest items.

The Thunder King - speak to Wrathion

Meet Me Upstairs - speak to Wrathion again

Secrets of the First Empire - collect 20xSecrets of the Empire and 40xTrillium Bar. Secrets of the Empire drop off any boss in Throne of Thunder, as well as the first 8 bosses of Siege of Orgrimmar. The raids can be done on any difficulty. My experience on 3 characters, as well as talking to guildies leads me to believe you can expect anywhere between 2-6 Secrets of the Empire per week, assuming a full clear.

I Need a Champion - obtain Exalted reputation with The Black Prince, requires a few of hours of grinding, depending on your spec and gear it can be faster. Most level 90 humanoid mobs and rares provide reputation with The Black Prince. Best place to grind rep is probably Isle of Thunder.

The Thunder Forge - complete a single player scenario

Spirit of the Storm Lord - use a quest item on Nalak, a world boss on the Isle of Thunder, and stay alive for 10-15 seconds while it channels and charges up. Best done in a raid group.

The Crown of Heaven - speak to Wrathion and collect your third reward, a very powerful legendary gem that goes in the meta slot of your head item. You can get extra ones for the price of 5xPrimal Diamond.

Echoes of the Titans - collect 12xTitan Runestone. These drop off the last 6 bosses of Throne of Thunder and the first 8 bosses of Siege of Ogrimmar. My experience on 3 characters, as well as talking to guildies leads me to believe you can expect anywhere between 1-3 Titan Runestone per week, assuming you kill all bosses. Lei Shen is guaranteed to drop a Titan Runestone every week.

Heart of the Thunder King - get a drop from Lei Shen, the final boss in Throne of Thunder. If you already cleared Throne of Thunder during the lockout, you can still come back on LFR and kill Lei Shen again to get the drop.

Chapter IV: Celestial Blessings (less than 1 hour)
A Reckoning - speak to Wrathion

Celestial Blessings - fly around Pandaria and visit the various temples and speak with Celestials. This will take you to Kun'Lai Summit, Townlong Steppes, Jade Forest and Krasarang Wilds. In addition to speaking to the Celestials, you will have to fight Wrathion at one of the temples and complete a role-specific challenge.

Cloak of Virtue - Speak to Wrathion to get your next reward, an epic item level 600 cloak. Do not waste your valor upgrading this cloak, as you will be getting your legendary soon which already comes upgraded to item level 608.

Chapter IV: Celestial Blessings (1-2 hours)
Timing here assumes getting as far as the cloak, does not include the Garrosh Hellscream kill.

A Timeless Discovery - Speak to Wrathion

Secrets of the Timeless Isle - Collect 5,000 timeless coins. You get coins for almost anything you do on the Timless Isle - killing mobs, looting chests, completing quests and even skinning, herbing and mining. You get a lot of coins from doing the introductory quests on the Isle, and I recommend looking for chests and rares for quick coins.

The Emperor's Way - You have to defeat the four Celestials on the Timless Isle. They are all always available to be killed, but only one can be engaged in combat at a time. This is best completed with a full raid.

A Pandaren Legend - Speak to Wrathion and get your legendary cloak. The cloak comes upgraded to item level 608.

Judgment of the Black Prince - Kill Garrosh Hellscream, the last boss in Seige of Orgrimmar.

After turning in the quest, after a short dialogue each of the Celestials will give their own compliment to you.

Xuen: Hero, you are an inspiration!
Chi-Ji: I knew you were destined to greatness.
Niuzao: Not bad.
Yu-lon: The pandaren will sing your praises for ages to come.

I myself find Niuzao's compliment rather.. unique and humorous :)

Just completed this quest using the group-finding addon OQueue. My realm is a bit on the quiet side, so I was worried how i'd get this done. Huzzah for the maker(s) of OQueue! :D

Edit: OQueue has now been implemented into WoW as the Group Finder tool! So it should now be even easier to get a group for this quest. That said, there's only a few days left 'til WoD and the questline being removed. Good luck to those going for their cloaks in the final few days! :D

IMO they should have made this part global tap and not tap to faction. As it stands now its hard as hell to get anyone to do more than one since, quite frankly, they don't care about helping someone and you can only get loot from one boss. So you have to sit around the Timeless Isle all day hoping not only that the right one gets pulled, but also that it's your faction's tag.

If anyone is interested I host a Celestials raid night every Tuesday night. We do all four Celestial bosses, both helping people finish the legendary quest line and also gearing alts.

OK i know this will get down voted but I haven't seen any comments about this,

just curious, if you have already defeated the 4 bosses do you have to kill all 4 again?

As reported in a Wowhead News Article:

Last night, there was only one hotfix but it was a big one--the Celestial world bosses got a significant health nerf if you're in a small group. This should also greatly help players who need to kill all four for The Emperor's Way and were frustrated that they couldn't get a decent-sized group together. The larger the group is, the more their health will increase.

Health Scaling Information via December 2 Hotfix

•The Celestials (Chi-Ji, Niuzao,Xuen, and Yu'lon) have their health reduced to 25% of original health. If more than 10 players from the same faction are engaged with the Celestial, their health will scale up. The health increase will cap at 100% of their original health with 40 players.

For now, use the cross realm raid finder. It's much easier than trying to hope for a group.

For those of you stuck on this point, list yourself in the raid finder list or just start your own cross realm raid for world boss. There's one entry for Celestials. It goes much quicker than try to just get one group going in your own realm.

To access Celestials in LFR, use 'O' for friends list, and select Other Raids. You will see a tab for World Bosses.

Not sure if this question has been asked before. Just yesterday I was testing out a theory on loot drop, I was not part of the raid killing the celestial boss at the time but was reward a loot just for dpsing it. So my question is if I just dps the celestial boss while not in the raid group will I get the kill credit toward the quest. Has this worked for anyone that completed the chain?

@WatcherDev has confirmed via twitter that there has been a hotfix and the celestials are no longer faction tapped but can be hit by both factions and all will receive rewards.

I have tested this in game and can confirm that this is now the case.

I found launching a group using OQueue and setting the description as 'Doing all 4' got groups relatively quickly for this part of the quest. Scouring the 'Other Raids' section of the social list was a big help, too

I too had a great deal of difficulty forming a raid for this as, (as people have been saying above) no-one wants to wait about for days when they could be doing something else.

Nonetheless managed to do all four in about 2 hours - here' s how.

First I formed a "raid" of four people who wanted to do the Celestials. Then we spammed chat a bit asking for people to join us (in a kind and occasionaly amusing way).

After a about 5-10 minutes of this we just jumped in and started the fight. Once we were fighting other people, who weren't in the raid, jumped in too and the boss was downed. We only had two wipes in all four bosses. We all died a bunch of times of course, but with the graveyards so close you can just run back in. While you are waiting there for the ress it can be useful to state the health of the boss in general chat to get more people interested in a quick kill - ie Xuen 50%.

So there you are. Form a kernal of a raid so people know your serious and get stuck in.

Your legendary cloak will be delivered shortly thereafter.

Huge time sink because when you join "other" raids you never know which celestial you will get. I have been stuck for days and days trying to get Xuen with zero luck.

Strange.. The first time I got this quest on my Shaman, I was apparently give credit for previous kills. I just got the quest, and immediately turned it in. My druid, who has participated in all the Celestials kills, and received loot, is now required to kill them all again..

I hope blizzard puts more thought into the next Legendary chain. This was one was a mindless grind. Why make us kill Lei Shen for his heart after we've spent WEEKS killing him for secrets and Runestones? Especially when he's one of the bosses that guarantees a drop. That dramatically increases the chance that you are gonna have to re-que for that wing of LFR and complete it with NO chance at loot a second time in the week you finish a collection quest.

Now I'm sitting at timeless Isle killing the same 2 Celestial's for more than an hour now trying to get the one I need. I feel like this chain requires us to do the same things over and over and over again and it's downright boring.

I managed to get all 4 down in pretty quick time. I found if you make it clear that you are there to fight the boss by standing out near him in the courtyard others will soon join you and someone will soon attack.

It seems if everyone stands on the stairs nothing happens.

As of writing this comment (03.10.2014) you WILL get credit for joining ANY fight on these bosses. Today, I completed my quest by dps'ing the four celestials while an opposing faction raid was killing them, and got the quest completed.

Description

Recently, the August Celestials of Pandaria presented you with a challenge - and you triumphed.

But can you defeat them in combat? They are testing the mettle of all of Pandaria's heroes.

This challenge is not impossible, but you'll need to follow the advice of the last Pandaren Emperor and tackle it with unwavering inner strength. You'll also need a small army, so find a group of people you trust.

Defeat the four celestials here in the Celestial Court, and our journey is almost complete...
