You can enter the top of The Serpent's Spine (the big wall) by going to Shado-Pan Fallback in south-western Kun-Lai Summit.

Bowmistress Li ends several breadcrumb quests offered to players as soon as they reach level 89 in order for them to begin questing in Dread Wastes. For a lot of players, its not intuitive how to reach her because she is located on the Serpent's Spine and on the border between zone maps. Here is a full guide:

From Kun-Lai Summit (quest Better Dead than Dread):
Talk to the flightmaster Kite Master Len that gives this quest and fly to "Serpent's Spine, Vale of the Eternal Blossoms". Alternately, you can ride to Shado-Pan Fallback, enter the doors and ascend the staircase to the top of the wall, you can then ride southward to get there.

From Townlong Steppes:
Better Off Dread - Return to Shado-Pan Garrison, talk to the flightmaster Kite Master Yao-Li and fly to "Serpent's Spine, Vale of the Eternal Blossoms".
The Threat in the South - This quest seems to be bugged and might not give the correct flightpath (and the text doesn't even mention flying to her). You can either drop it and take one of the alternate breadcrumbs listed here (closest is Dread Space), or ride to the Dread Wastes, going to the northeast corner of the zone to the Terrace of Gurthan. Next to the wall is a very small coil of Shado-Pan Rope that you can click on to ascend to the Serpent's Spine where you can reach Bowmistress Li (and also learn that flight path).

From Vale of Eternal Blossoms (quests The Klaxxi/The Klaxxi):
Taking your faction's quest adds the flight path you need. Talk to the flightmaster in your city and fly to "Serpent's Spine, Vale of the Eternal Blossoms".

From Dread Wastes (quest Dread Space):
Taking this quest adds the flight path you need. Talk to the flightmaster Jin the Flying Keg at The Sunset Brewgarden and fly to "Serpent's Spine, Vale of the Eternal Blossoms".

I was not offered this quest. I suspect it is because I have better dread than dead. (which is the leadin from Kun-Lai to talk to Brewmistress Li.)

The fastest way to get up here, that I have seen is to ride in from Towlong Steppes, there is a bridge at 60,84. Between Rensai's Watchpost and Dusklight Hollow.

You ride all the way to the north east of the Spider Ruins/Terrace of Gurthan in the Dread Wastes, at 75.10,21.10 there is a rolled up rope on the ground next to the wall. It's called a Shado-Pan Rope. You can click it then climb up the wall to end the quest.

They should really make the rope glow.

It's located at 75,21 in Dread Wastes, next to the opposite wall of where the spiders are trying to climb up.

I dropped this quest by accident, i was meaning to drop another.
Any idea on how it can be picked up again? Because the NPC's despawn once you leave the cave.

I was too low level (I was 88, required is 89) to accept this quest when I first went there. When I went back to get it again they were gone, and I can't seem to find them at any of the camps. Anyone knows where they are?

There is a rope in the corner. However, you can also drop the quest and go to the Sunset Brewgarden in the Dread Wastes. I dropped the original quest, and picked up a different one there, which automatically adds the flight path.

If you come across the bridge to the dread wastes, you go left, follow the road. Then the road will stop and you will have to pass a Sha area, this is quit easy. Then just follow your yellow arrow (you will be on a road for a small piece, then you come across Terrace of Gurthan, on your left, in the left back, as far as you can go, across where the spiders climb there is a relly tiny rope, but it's there.

FAIL, FAIL, FAIL!

I can't stand quests like this. This harks back to vanilla WoW. The rope isn't mentioned in the quest. The rope is not sparkling so you can see it. Minor annoyance but those are the worst kind. Simple crap that should be simple.

I've used wowhead for a while, but this is the first time fans provided an answer that made me grateful enough to create a log in and post. THANK YOU! ffs I agree with all the comments about what a ridiculous oversight this tidbit was for blizz, never would have found it without the rope posts, rope is there, across the wall from climbing spiders, on the ground a foot or two from the wall

Not knowing about the "hidden rope" and determined to find my own way up, I decided to see if I could get to Bowmistress Li without traveling through the Dread Wastes. I found a way by running the length of the wall from Shado-Pan Fallback in Kun-Lai Summit to the spot directly above the entrance of Gate of the Setting Sun. I jumped along the stone ledge above the entrance to the raid and dropped down. Quite simple, just time consuming. Not recommended. Go for the rope... Also, !@#$ Blizz.

I despise questing in Townlong at level 88, so the instant I ding 89 I go off to Bowmistress Li.

But the way I do it is get on the Spine (at Shado-Pan fallback), then run south down the spine, through the non-instanced Gate of the Setting Sun, to the point on the wall over the Gate of the Setting Sun portal. Then jump down from there. Li and the questgivers and flight point are right there near the portal.

No breadcrumbs or hard to see ropes or whatever required.

I've followed Zene's steps. using tom tom, /way 75.10 21.10 rope. goto the spider area, the rope will be on the right and pretty hard to see. They don't make this quest easy to turn in ;(

This quest was quite annoying because I ran through Dread Wastes and I only found those hundreds of humanoid bugs (hate bugs!) and they started to follow me, I ran away to Townlong Steppes and flew to Shado-Pan Fallback in Kun-Lai Summit and walked through the Wall, all the way down to the sign point. When I was close and I was able to see the ? above the head of the NPC, I fall to the other part of the wall and done the quest.

Search in youtube for the video that I made to help you find the rope easier

Can confirm on 11/14/12 'The Threat in the South' quest still does not give a means to reach Bow Mistress Li at Serpent's Spine. If you have that quest and are in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms, drop the quest and go to the bottom level plaza. Bowmaster Ku will now have a yellow question mark. Accept the quest "Klaxxi" from him. Go back up the staircase to the flight master and the Serpent's Spine flight point will now be added.

Save yourself a lot of aggravation nosing around the wall and running from all manner of nasties.

As a sidebar, I guess you would have to expect there'd be some huge wall in the expansion given the Oriental theme. Also reminds me of George R. R. Martin's Wall in 'A Game of Thrones'.

To begin with, you must 1st pick up the quest The Threat in the South. Unless you are level 89 or higher when completing The Sha of Hatred you will not be able to accept it. There are about 6 links on Wowhead for the questgiver Taoshi but she won't be at any of those places once you've completed the quest chain, unless Blizz fixxes it.

The best thing to do like said in a reply by "Prestok" to "Evxx's" comment is to go south in Townlong Steppes across the bridge and then go east along the path to Sunset Brewgarden and pick up Dread Space (50.11. Dread Waste). Then take the FP to Serpents Spine.

In reference to the top comments.....
The rope was intended to go down first for the quest Falling Down. It wasn't the initial route to go up to get to the questgiver/turn in for the 1st time. It was simply a "shortcut" to bypass Bizz's "mistake" if you will. Therefore, for the rope to be "marked" at ground level was irrelevent. Blizz should have provided a flight/FP to Serpents Spine as did for the quest at the top of this comment.

If you read the quest Falling Down it tells you of a rope and it is right behind the questgiver.

Sine it seems like this quest is semi-broken, I'd like to point out that the breadcrumb quest The Klaxxi is obtainable from both the Horde and Alliance hubs in the Vale, and will give you the FP to go directly to Bowmistress Li.

You can take a FP to Shado-Pan Fallback in Kun-Lai, and then ride all the way south along the wall, then jump off from the top of the wall to the meeting stone, you will lose half of your health from the jump but you do not need the rope.

It seems that when I accepted this quest they gave me a FP to the Serpent's Spine in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. Of course, like the rope, this wasn't mentioned at all in the quest text, so I spent a good amount of time wandering around looking for a way to get up onto the wall.

So yeah, check your flightpaths. The one I mentioned will drop you off right next to the questgiver.

If you pick up this quest and do not get the flight point, you can go to Sunset Brewgarden in the Dread Wastes and pick up the flight point there and you will then have the one for this quest. Solves the problem of having to ride your ground mount all the way to the rope mentioned in the other posts dodging the mobs along the way.

Okay, I need serious help with this. I've googled for like two weeks now how to get the starting quest to Dread Wastes. I've looked up the Threat in the South, the quests before it, and none of them exist for me. I just did the quest with Li and then nothing. No quest after that or anything. I just found the injured archer guy and that was it. I went back to her and the only quest she had was called "Nope", which I haven't found to be associated with any Dread Wastes entry quests. Please help.

I took the flight path to Serpent's Spine, but ended up at the wrong spot. apparently there are two serpent's Spine posts and two flight paths. I had to run all the way on the wall to reach her.

edit: found out that there are a serpent spine for kun lai summit and one for Dread Waste. That was not at all clear to me before i flew

If your unable to see the quest turn in NPC (Bowmistress Li) make sure you go talk to Zidormi in the Vale to revert the land to the pre invasion. That should free her up!

This particular breadcrumb is obtained after completing the "On Hatred's Path" and "The Sha of Hatred" campaign questlines, starting with Behind the Battlefront and Treatment for the Troops.

The Threat in the South

Speak with Bowmistress Li on the Serpent's Spine.

Description

With the Sha of Hatred dead, the greatest threat to this land is vanquished, but our travels along the southern border have made it exceedingly clear that the mantid forces in the Dread Wastes are on the move, and likely won't be held back for long.

If you wish to continue to aid the Shado-Pan, I would recommend reporting in to Bowmistress Li on the Serpent's Spine. She oversees the great wall that separates the terrors in the Dread Wastes from our bountiful lands to the east.
