After you have used your mask on the villagers that are wandering around, Ken-Ken the monkey will tell you to use your mask on Yi-Mo, who will spawn by the well.

Yi-Mo will despawn after a while if you do not complete the task, but can be re-spawned by going back to Ken-Ken the monkey and speaking with him.

When you used mask on the 8 first ones, head back to Ken-Ken and speak with him, he will then phase into another phase and you will put mask on the Yi-Mo.

This quest is the culmination of the Zhu's Watch chain. It is a reference to Zhu's Hope, a space colony in the videogame series Mass Effect, where the inhabitants are driven to madness by a mysterious alien presence.

If you get curious like I did and enter the inn to see what's inside (or just generally go out of the questing area for whatever reason), you will exit the phase and be unable to see the essences of despair. But like a previous commenter mentioned, you can talk with Ken-Ken again and re-enter the phase.

Yi-Mo is standing in front of the Well. The quest is not very well(no pun intended here). Once the mask is applied it will spawn the boss.

Mask stays in your bag after the quest but you can safely delete it - there is another quest, The Mantidote, but you will get another one.

With the high number of low health lootable mobs, this quest is one of the best, if not the best, places in the game to farm for Mote of Harmony.

So it's not a bad idea to leave this quest unfinished.

Once you accept Zhu's Despair, the following happens:

Ken-Ken says: What the... Sha nasties are poppin' out everywhere! We gotta take care of them first!

You will then need to kill 8 Essence of Despair, but you will not be alone - Ken-Ken will accompany and fight the essences with you. If you try to put the mask on Yi-Mo Longbrow without killing 8 essences, Ken-Ken will remind you that you still have to kill the essences. So do so. The Essences of Despair are very easy to kill - they only have about 92k health.

Once you have killed 8 Sha Essences, go to Yi-Mo and put the mask on him. It will cause a Quintessence of Despair to pop out. He has about 327k health and doesn't hit hard, but he can stun you for a few seconds. It is a very easy fight overall.

After you've defeated the Quintessence of Despair, you will be knocked out. The screen fades to black.

Ken-Ken says: <Name>! Are you okay? Wake up!

The screen then fades back to normal.

Yi-Mo Longbrow says: He's coming to!
Yi-Mo Longbrow says: <Name>... To think you'd risked your life to save me - twice now - and I'd only treated you with disdain.
Yi-Mo Longbrow says: I am shamed beyond comprehension. Please forgive me - my mind was not my own.
Yi-Mo Longbrow says: Should you ever need aid of any kind, from a handful of turnip seeds to a volley of arrows, know that Zhu's Watch will provide it.
Yi-Mo Longbrow says: For now, I must direct my attention to rebuilding the village. There is much to be done. You may rest here if you like, but we'll not accept any more help.

Yi-Mo Longbrow departs.

Ken-Ken says: We did it, <name>! That was some good butt-punchin' back there!
Ken-Ken says: Something tells Ken-Ken that's not the last of the sads, though...

Ken-Ken jogs back to his usual spot at Zhu's Watch where you can turn in the quest with him.

Yi-Mo was one of the guys I cured the first time around so I couldn't do it again. Ended up abandoning the quest and retaking it from the monkey. Careful to put the new mask on your action bar that you will get in your bag. The old one (looks grey) won't work anymore.

I did a search not sure if its 100% giving all search results as this is my 5th attempt at posting so sorry if its repost.

Last night i begun questing in Krasarang Wilds. I did a few quests at Zhu's Watch and one of the quests puts you into a phased area.
That quest is the following : Zhu's Despair - Quest - World of Warcraft.
Part of this quest is to kill 8 Essence of Despair. They have only 92k health and are super easy to kill.
They spawn in 3 packs and respawn is pretty nice. They do spawn faster with more people around but even if its just yourself there is no downtime.

I started here at 87 and 5% into level this was at 8 pm by 11 pm i was level 88 and 79% into level.
Probs doesn't seem all that great but in that time i got 18 Spirits of Harmony and 4163g in vendors.Also picked up some nice greens and blue boes which are selling for a nice amount my realm at least.
One of the trash drops vendors for 9g and its drops very often. Liquid Shadow - Item - World of Warcraft

I was pulling group 1 to group 2 aoeing them down and looting. Then Group 1 was back up and i was pulling that to Group 3. Rinse and repeat.
As i said above there is no downtime and i had no competition the whole time i was there and thats a new thing for me as my realm is full.

Hope someone can find this useful Ill be returning to this spot when im 90 no competition is very nice. I know there are other spots that are probs better than this but my realm they're all full and grinding anything is a task and half.

No longer the number one farmspot. Mobs have no more loottable and you won't get more that 113 exp from each one. Thanks Blizz, destroying all farm places so that everyone who wants Motes needs to play your stupid farmville game.

Make sure you kill the 8 Essences of Despair before trying to click the quest item on Yi-Mo or it will tell you invalid target.

As of today this quest is bugged. The guy does not show up after killing the 8. I abandoned and re-took the quest 3 times and even exited the game completely and went back, and Yi-Mo simply is not there anywhere. I submitted a bug report that will most likely go ignored. I submit them often when I find a bonafide bug, then I look on the forums or here and see that the same bugs have been being reported for a year or more. I have little to no faith in Blizzard's team to correct things any more, I've run across too many bugs that have been there too long for it. It feels like a waste of time to tell them about anything like this because they don't seem interested in bugs unless it's some big problem with one of their precious raids.

You cannot immediately turn this quest in after you use the mask on Yi-Mo. The quest turn in marker WILL show up on the map, but you must wait for the NPCs to finish their dialog, after which Ken-Ken will begin to walk back to his normal spot: right by the pillar, under the house. Once he shows up here, you're then able to turn the quest in.
