I did this quest on my Warlock, and in order to be able to collect the ice chunks, I had to do two things:

1) Put pet on passive. The demon would attack the ice blocks when I attacked, and when the block was broken, I could not loot any ice.

2) Use melee attcks to chop the ice blocks.

Did this with my hunter, no problems using ranged. The cave is at 67, 54 and also contains lots of thorium.

Thanks for the tip. I kept wanding them with my Felguard attacking it. Sometimes I got one, sometimes I didn't.
Now using Melee, and I'm getting them more frequently.

Also, the yetis are more annoying now that they can freeze you.

Entrance to the cave is 67.54, in case anyone has trouble finding it.

Best to do this with quests Echo Three, Are We There, Yeti? and The Perfect Horns.

Go to the sensor for the Echo Three quest first -- this will complete the quest and teleport you into the back of the cave where Icewhomp is.

Defeat Icewhomp to complete The Perfect Horns, then you can work the Fresh From the Hills & Are We There, Yeti? quests as you have to fight your way out of the cave.

Any yeti pelts you still need for Are We There, Yeti? can be mopped up going down the hillside as you head back to Everlook.

P.S. Decent reward items for arms classes, but nothing for spellcasters.

The cave entrance is at 57.53 and, as a melee class, it was plenty simple to run through the caves attacking chunks of ce and any Yeti daft enough to try to kill me!

They are breakable and u get the ice in your bags aswell. Spells work!

This may be an isolated case I was facing, but if you're finding that using your weapon isn't giving you the 7 pieces of Pure Glacier Ice you need, use spells instead (or at least something other than white damage, if you're a non-casting melee class).

For whatever reason, that did the trick for me. Your mileage may vary.

Currently, this quest is a major pain as a Demonology warlock due to Wild Imps... You can't turn off their attacks and you don't get loot when they destroy the solid ice. This means you can't use Shadow Bolt, Soul Fire, or Touch of Chaos against anything in the cave.

No Shadow Bolt. Just Drain Life.
No Shadow Bolt? You've got to be kidding me, no Shadow Bolt. I mean, did they tell Picasso, 'No brush'?

You must have empty space in your bags for the ice. Spent 15 minutes breaking ice with spells and melee before realizing it automatically goes in your bag.

Tip:

The cave will have a bunch of "Ice Thistle Yetis" in front of it.

If there are no yetis, you are at the wrong cave!

Two possibilities exist: the person who designed this area has never been stunned in World of Warcraft, or the person who designed this area has been stunned in World of Warcraft, and it gave them sexual pleasure. All of these damn yetis can stun you for two seconds, and they will, every single time, and you have to kill about three hundred thousand of them to do the quests in this area. Have fun watching the game play with itself! They can even cast the stun through being stunned themselves, making me think possibility #2 is more of a definitely.

Also, because this zone is poorly designed, three more yeti-related quests pop into existence once you accept this one. If the zone has properly trained you to expect only one quest at a time, which has been the case since you arrived, you might not notice them. In that case you'll be forced to stage two consecutive yeti genocides in a row, and even if that totally sounds like your kind of fun, let me tell you, it totally is not.

There is an inconsistency in the text for this quest. The area where this cave is located is called Ice Thistle Hills, though the quest calls it icethistle hills. I know it's a minor discrepancy, but it's notable.

Didn't work for me (Demonology Warlock) no matter what I tried. Ditched the quest, got on with my life.

EDIT: Until I decided to be the better Warlock. Came in, used magic, no problem. Didn't even aggro the yetis standing next to the target.

I don't know if something got messed up in preparation for the new expansion, but this quest isn't working right since the last time I came through a few weeks ago.

The ice blocks aren't respawning at all. So if there are two of you, there aren't going to be enough for both of you to complete the quest. Especially if one of you happens to be a warlock whose pet is destroying them with aoe.

Description

Ice this time? Hoo boy, sure. I've got good news and bad news for you.

The good news is there's a bunch of pure solid ice over in the Ice Thistle Hills cavern, straight east from Everlook. The bad news is there's also a bunch of vicious yetis in there.

But if you can handle the yeti, hey, piece of cake! Just walk right up to the bigger chunks and crack 'em open with your weapon. Bring it all back to me and I'll do my thing.
