Just completed this quest chain with my protection Paladin. The quests took me from 48 to 50, and had a lot of sweet rewards along the way. None of them were too challenging either. The worst part is that now I have to pick between these three awesome blues haha.

For those of you looking for the start of this very long questline, I finally found the start at the little camp called Thorium Advance on the eastern edge of Searing Gorge. If you start there, it will eventually lead you to Mountain Lord Rendan and his quests which end with this one.

After this quest you can turn in dark iron residue for Thorium rep.

The info to go to Thorium Advance (seen E. of map) to start the quests to turn in Dark Iron residue was VERY helpful. I did waste a lot of time trying to figure it out. --BTW, there are 2 Thorm-Bro dwarves & an Ogre here. Ogre's quest starts the line : Lurks Quest .. The Dwarves both have quests avail b4 doing Lurks (not sure if those are req, I did them anyway) though finishing Lurk's quest opens 2 new quests w/ the Dwarves which are needed. The only quest in the line I did not do was the one to kill the Smolderweb Spiders. I had just soloe'd BRD & had 4 stacks of Dark Iron Res, finishing all the quests then turning in the 4 stacks gave a ton of rep (got me to Exalted, though didnt look what my rep started at). Hope this helps save even a little time..

Wowhead incorrectly notes the completion rep for this quest to be 500. In patch 5.4 it is 2,000.

So, does this turn in still in the cauldron, or do I go back to the base? I'd really rather not go through all of those mobs if I don't have to :P

Can someone please update this? I played my protection Warrior and I got to choose between pauldrons and the hammer and I got 2000 reputation.

When you end this quest... you have to walk back, if youre below 60.. if youre above.. you can just take the first out and fly back...
Recommendation? Bind your HS to the inn in Iron Summit just before starting this quest... save yourself a 5min walk back, from the Inn, take a taxi to Thorium Point.. :)
