Don't look for them in their old locations. Tharil'zun and Gath'Ilzogg are both guarding the path that runs by the keep itself. Tharil'zun is just at the top of the hill (60.3 47.3) on the north side and has a couple guards. Gath'Ilzogg stands alone (57.8 56.3) on the remains of the bridge in the south. If you don't see them, their respawn is fairly short, so you shouldn't have to wait for long.(##RESPBREAK##)2056##DELIM##adashiel##DELIM##

You are supposed to do this quest with the four elites, it says in the quest text - however for me I got out of the battle tank and they all vanished - they didn't come back when i picked up this quest. Did anybody else lose John and the other boys? Any idea of how to fix it?

Edit: I dropped the quest and Bravo Company respawned. Think it was a phasing issue

If your on your mount dismount then they should appear but if not I don't know whats wrong.

For anyone who may be interested, this quest is necessary in order for Blackrock Shadowcaster to be phased in, which is the only source of Lesser Belt of the Spire, an excellent belt for mogging purposes.

You can take the group with you, all over the redridge map - an excellent party to kill a tough mob! Sadly they're not able to leave redridge, as when you release the 4 others.. Anyone know a bug, and how to get them out of the area? Would be awesome though if someone knew. Write it in the reply below.

Okay, with the most recent patch is a new glitch, when fighting Gath'Ilzogg, he summons a ghoul and Bravo company disappears, leaving you to fight alone and get killed.

when you do this quest you get 5 elites to assist and fight for you. they also do buffs like battle shout that boost HP by 2500hp on all elites including you, and molten armor buff at random

if you do not turn in this quest, these guys will fight and kill mobs for you all over Redridge Mountains including elites. if you are leveling i would recommend not turning in the quest and doing like one lap around the area killing everything and then turn in the quest,

some twinks, Veteran-20S and F2P-20's keep this quest to have them to fight horde twinks that gank in this area

another quest to mention is Saving Foreman Oslow by not turning it in right away and keeping it enables you to use
Ettin Control Orb to have a ettin elite with 1464hp also, it is on a timer, but you can always get another ettin.

Quest is a little 'buggy'. Just completed it a few minutes ago and my 'posse' would randomly disappear throughout. Even during a fight - which was fun. Playing as a ProtWarr, not sure why it was doing that but we survived.

Broken in current patch, scaling has made it so all of the Bravo Company get destroyed within seconds leaving me to die.

If you're struggling in 8.0.1, I found a way around it. Start the fight and then run, don't do any damage until your company has taken the aggro. Then you can come back and do the DPS.

I died 4 times before I eventually completed the first part of the quest to kill Tharil'zun. I started the encounter and healed myself until Keeshan got aggro on the 2 guards then blew up Tharil'zun as fast as possible. Even if you die after you kill Tharil'zun you can rez away from the 2 guards he has and move on to the second orc.

Figured it out in BFA. Well...the dragon part at least. I'm not sure how you're supposed to make bravo team pick up the two adds on the first boss. I got lucky and had a bunch of other people on the same quest, so other groups took the adds.

The REAL trick is to never attack at all, except on the pull. Doing more damage beyond that made the quest bug every time. Either Bravo Team would just disappear, or they'd get creamed. Maybe something to do with scaling. Like, my attacks made the game freakout cause it couldn't figure out how much HP the elites had, or how much dmg they'd do.

That's my experience. 41 Mage. Tossed 1 Arcane Barrage and let the NPCs do the rest.

This one used to be doable alone, but I guess you need a group now. Shadow priest 26 and died plenty of times before I gave up for now. Anyone knows how?

Like many here, I came to this comment section for pointers and guidance to complete this quest. Killing Tharil'zun is a pain for many of us (if not all), but I found a way to do it. Note, before anything else, that dying will be a part for clearing the quest, so do not be disheartened when you die and respawn in the extremely nearby graveyard. I cleared the quest with my lvl 65 BE marks-hunter.

The idea is this, if you can, die as close to the graveyard as possible, ie at the narrow corridor to the left-back of Tharil'zun and his guards. Secondly, focus on killing the elite mobs FIRST, ONE BY ONE. It's okay if you die in the process because the trick is that when you respawn, there will be one less elite to deal with. Deal with all four of them (two next to Tharil'zun, two on their flanks), and one along the corridor you are most likely to resurrect if it bothers you, and Tharil'zun will be alone. For my case, I managed to kill Tharil'zun with one elite commander left with him, and that is because Bravo Company aggros Tharil'zun alone. Thus, it is important that you assist Bravo by clearing the elite mobs that may kill them before they can kill Tharil'zun. Another thing is crowd control. Tharil'zun will use a spell (can't remember the name) to pull you towards him -- for DPS peeps, flee and attack from a distance. For me, as a hunter I have Disengage to do this once at a time to leap back. I also have Bursting Shot to push away elite mobs when they pursue me. Also, for my DPS peeps that can immobilize Tharil'zun at first instance before attacking the elite mobs, DO IT. I use Freezing Trap, and while it does not last as long as I want to because it deactivates upon someone attacking the frozen target, it is just enough to inflict considerable damage on the guard I wish to get out of the picture. Having a pet in my case also helps. I monitor my pet health and heal them when required before resuming my attack. Being in a distance from the fight also allowed me to do first aid on myself when necessary while Bravo do their thing. In sum, kill the elite mobs around him one-by-one, it's okay if you die a few times, resurrect near/behind him, and clear the quest.

As of January 5, 2018, quest is still 'bugged', or to put it midly maybe just not tuned correctly in relation to the Battle for Azeroth expansion and the world zones now scaling.

That being said, i did manage to complete the quest, after several tries. My best advice for players struggling with this quest, is to simply kill as many as the adds as you can before dying, and then to return and go again, until only Tharil'zun stands. That makes it a bit simpler as it is now the whole Bravo Company and yourself, versus the Blackrock commander.
Extra advice: As a ranged class, I pulled the group of mobs, and then quickly ran behind the tower towards west, so that I would pull no other mobs by accident.

January 5th 2019 changing spec seems to spawn the companions of this quest, still the mobs are not balanced with the stat squish still.

Yeah this quest definitely didn't go through the squish I'm getting two shot as level 29 Enhancement Shaman since Thar'ilzun goes for Keeshan and the other 4 dudes seemingly ignore the 2 guards which lets the guards two shot me.

Edit: Managed to do this after about 30 minutes of trying where I think all the guys just randomly concentrated on one of them and then the other and so on so I guess pure dumb luck.

Oh and isn't it funny that you have an easier time killing the dragon in the quest after this over two semi strong Orc guards and their boss.

Alright, so I just cleared this solo as of 8.1, as a level 42 Shadow Priest.

First off, I incorporated some hints mentioned elsewhere on this page, which were quite helpful, like dealing with the trash mobs next to Tharil'zun (called T'z from here on out) one by one. This comment is just a way I found to draw it out so you can recharge between kills.

First, set up: clear the area in front of the broken tower just south of T'z. This will be the major staging ground for most of the fight. This also should only be one or two NPCs that you can pick off one by one. Also be sure to stay clear of the entrance to the inner ring of the tower. You can do this by avoiding the two NPCs patroling there, so no need to worry if you stay a good distance away.

Note: This entire fight will be in this area and down the hill towards where Boulderheart spawns.

WARNING: Going all the way to the lake's edge will reset aggro. You will use this later, but keep a watch out for it since it will reset your progress for the NPC you're fighting. If you need more space to fight, run along the wall of the tower. It won't aggro those inside the wall/tower and won't reset aggro for T'z and his guards.

Second, pull the T'z guard closest to you first, from as far away as you can. As soon as you do, run backwards as much as you can. Keeshan will keep aggro fairly well, with the other 4 picking up some as well. T'z will shadow-pull you in right away, but if you're far enough away he will still have aggro on Keeshan and you won't actually be attacked. Focus on this guard until he's dead. T'z will switch aggro towards you if you hit him, so avoid cleave and AoE. Keeshan and the rest of Bravo Company may die in this fight, but you should be able to get at least on down before they all come after you.

Third, once one is down, RUN TO THE LAKE. It doesn't matter if you think you can do more. Since these guys are scaled so badly and can 2-4 shot most players, don't even risk having to do a corpse run. Once you get to the lake, the aggro will reset and all of Bravo Company will respawn with full health. Heal up as best you can, re-up buffs, whatever else.

Repeat until T'z is the last one standing and then move to him. T'z will take longer than the guards, but since they're gone you don't have to worry about Keeshan dying. You can then move on to the fairly easy shadowcaster orc next to the ruined keep and on to Gath'Ilzogg, who is fairly easy like T'z. Not a quick fight, but nothing difficult. Same with Darkblaze.

Now, unfortunately for me, fighting T'z and his guards took long enough that the initial guards started to respawn as I was running by the ruined keep. IF this happens, don't worry. DO NOT engaged them. Keeshan will aggro all of them and you don't have to worry about them. Just keep going. You can even kill the shadowcaster orc during this, since he's fairly squishy and easy to solo. Once you get that last one out of the way, run to the graveyard there and just wait. (You can even fight the shadowcaster here if that fight is taking to long and Bravo dies too quickly) This is outside the aggro range of T'z and his guards, so once they kill Keeshan and the rest of Bravo Company, they'll come after you but give up around the gates near the graveyard there.

Wait a little bit if need-be for Bravo Company to respawn, heal up, and the you're in the clear to take on Gath'Ilzogg.

Okay this worked for me after too many attempts. You're not gonna kill the big named elite w/ all his adds alive, you'll die (at least I did).

What you wanna do is kill all his adds first, even if that means you dying. They won't respawn when he leaves combat and without his adds the NPCs have enough health to tank him for you.

Also as one other person noted: If you kill him and want to heal up the NPCs for the next fight, change spec. That forces the NPCs to respawn at full health, obviously not doable in combat.

It's doable. Tough but doable.

Slowly fight your way up the path to Tharil'zun; let your NPC friends take aggro on the mobs (pull mob, slow dps until you lose aggro, then dps like normal (well, maybe hold back a little bit)), and just go 1 by 1.

Then clear the mobs around Tharil'zun; not the 2 directly at his side, but the 2 on either side of Tharil'zun's pack of 3. Once you clear the initial 2, move on to Tharil'zun and his 2 bodyguards. Pull the pack, and make sure to get a hit in on all 3 of them, because his bodyguards will start attacking you, and it will hurt. So it's important to hit them, to signify to the mobs accompanying you that his bodyguards are targets too. Slow dps, use defensives etc. until your pals take aggro away from you. Your NPCs will die before you can kill all 3, so just make sure to at least kill 1 of his bodyguards on the first go-around.

Corpse run, res, pull Tharil'zun and his remaining bodyguard, and repeat the same process. This time you'll kill him.

(I did it on a level 34 void elf brewmaster, fairly limited in terms of defensives, so I reckon most classes should be able to do this)

Just did quest on level 27 warrior. Having suffered the pain of this quest on previous toons, it appears Blizz have finally balanced it!

Keeshan tanked, nobody died and the three mobs went down with him still on 3/4 health.

Hasn't been this straightforward for ages. Hoping it wasn't a fluke as I have other toons coming through here soon :)

I just came here to point out that the quest area is packed with elites.
Unless you're over-levelled (and with Legion/BFA these guys scale up to 60), you need the bravo company to help you.
Aaaannd.... I was caught a little off guard when having been mounted, I found myself going solo. :o
So as a tip: double-check you have your team before proceeding.

That said, I noticed a lot of people reporting difficulties due to the level scaling.
And honestly, I've now done this in both 8.2 and 8.3 without noticing a problem.
Though in each case it's been on a starter toon, which quickly becomes over-geared relative to normal level 20s.
So I acknowledge that may be a factor.
I'll give it a try on a regular toon and update with findings.

Update:
I did try again on a regular toon (still during BFA).
My paladin had reached +- L27 (I don't remember exactly) and still had no trouble with the scaling in the quest.
So it would appear to be fixed. But others are reporting it still broken in Shadowlands.
So it may work for some but not for others.

Scaling might only be broken at certain level ranges.
So perhaps we can narrow it down if people indicate class/level/race if the quest seems broken?

NB: I have discovered that the Chromie Time feature added in SL affects mob scaling in unexpected ways.
So an important thing to note when troubleshooting this is to check your Chromie Time status.
