This entire questline made me laugh, how is ANYONE starving in Azeroth let alone westfall? unless the entire mage tower went somewhere, a single mage could conjure food for armies.

If you log out while doing the quest it will bugg out and you have to abandon it and retake it.
(I had to Abandon and re take it 2 times.)

I noted something interesting. When the shadowy figure spawns, TWO humanoids pop up on tracking. One is named "VanCleef Test Dummy" and one is named "Shadowy Figure". When the shadowy figure disappears, however, the "Vancleef Test Dummy" Still appears on my mini-map. Can someone explain?

After accepting the quest; go to the crowd in Moonbrook east of the center of the fountain. Listen the shadowy figure until you get quest completed message.

If you have completed enough quest to get to this point run back into Moonbrook and there will be a crowd. You stand in front of the lady on top of the hay barrel lol. Please vote up this too me a few to figure out.

Having completed this later during Mist of Pandaria, I felt a bit conspicuous in my shimmering armor, astride my Grand Expedition Yak, sparkling with Golden Moss and whatnot. Now I know how the 1% feels...

All the instructions here aren't precise and I didn't want to watch a video just to complete a simply quest. I had to abandon and re-take it twice til I figured it out. ALL the text would show, but it wasn't completing and I never saw a shadowy figure. I was standing in FRONT of the wagon by the tongue of the wagon. Don't do that.

Stand directly BEHIND the wagon, in front of the two girls standing there and it completes, and the shadowy figure shows up on top of the wagon.

Hope this works for you.

BTW, I think it's really dumb to have to type in a Captcha code to make a post here, when I'm already logged in with a user name and password to post.

Just in case one is curious for trivial curiosities sake...if you're not that keen on listening to the town square speeches upon completing quests.
You may be interested in knowing that you may start, engage in and finish a pet battle during the speech. I was tying the last knot in my mousy opponent's tail as the quest and my battle victory both came to a simultaneous end.
For the weight shifters and sighers out there ;0)
