I have done this quest several times now on different characters, and I can now usually complete it with 15 to 30 seconds remaining on the timer (assuming it's not bugged.) Here is a map of the route I use (I go the counterclockwise direction, but either way works.)

I start with cantering (yellow) until I am at 80 or so fatigue, then trot (green) back down to 25 or so; after this I can usually canter the rest of the way back to the tent (I jump off the road out of ironforge at the nearest opportunity, it only hits for about half my life) without getting exhausted.

This is probably not the only way, and I havn't done the math to see if galloping is actually more efficient (though I suspect it is not!) If you have a better route, share it! :-)

The easiest way to complete this quest in the allotted time, is to travel around the outer ring of Ironforge at a canter, dismiss the 'racing ram' buff when all objectives are complete, and use your usual mount to run back to the questgiver.

After you;ve gone to every checkpoint you can dismount the ram and mount your own mount if it helps. If you have an epic land mount it helps alot and also, I would use entropicdragon's route.

I'm a druid and after I'd tagged all the banners, I galloped the ram until exhausted, then shifted to travel form. Since the shapeshift is instant, you lose no time that way. Also, I jumped off the road down the mountain & made it back to the guy with no problem.

Edit: for the 2009 Brewfest (patch 3.2.2), you don't need to return to the questgiver before time runs out. You only need to tag all four locations for the quest to be considered "complete" in your log. Once it is complete, you can turn it in at your leisure.

You can get around the entire of IF if you canter. Just make sure you don't tire your mount out before you leave IF. The last 100 meters to the quest hand-in and be laggy and you'll want as much extra time as possible. Had a emo moment this morning when I had heaps of time but due to heaps of people being at brewfest, I lagged and failed the quest. I've had a look at entropicdragon's map and I've added mine. Not sure who's would be faster but I think a full cicular route would be faster. I'll give it a try later on and let you know.

After You Have "Barked" You can dis-mount the ram and get on your own.. alot more helpful

Here is the best and safest way to do it.... enter IF thru the left door.. when your inside turn to the right just enough to bark outside bank. after you have done that turn to the left and go into mystic ward. after you have Barked there head thru The forlorn cavern, into the Hall of explorers, thru tinker town. and right when you have barked in the Military ward.. dismount the ram by clicking on the buff. get on your own mount (that is if your over lvl 40) and head thru the right IF Exit.. jump down the mountain but do it slowly so you dont die. then just run up to barleybrew or thunderbrew and turn it in!

This quest is incredibly hard to complete if you're lagging, or if your machine has a low spec like mine. Try to set all your video settings to the lowest possible for this quest, and you should be able to complete it.

Oh, and for those who complete the quest by using their own mount, i can confirm that that no longer works. You have to complete the quest on the ram, or you'll fail the quest.

I do this easily with around 1 minute left by using Canter (yellow buff) and clicking every 2 seconds to keep myself in Canter until I'm in the Hall of Explorers or a bit before that, then stop until the debuff stack goes down to around 20 and immediately go back to Canter. By the time you get out of Ironforge you should have 60 stacks and just Gallop (red buff) off the cliff and hand it in! My record is 1 minute 12 seconds left.

For 2008 they have made it so you must stay on the Ram they give you. So you actually will have to learn how to properly use the reins to keep you speed up.

It isn't too hard just remember to jump off the side of the path when returning to cut off a good chunk of time from your run.

Also once you hit up all 4 areas you do not need to make it back on time. So if your mount expires after you shout in the 4 places you can still turn it in successfully.

I can confirm in the 2009 Brewfest, dismounting after all 4 objectives are complete does not fail the quest.

You don't need to get back to the questgiver in time, you just have to complete the 4 objectives within the given time.

After you complete the 4th objective get on your own mount and take your sweet time getting back, it's going to be completed anyway.

I know because this happened to me and i was walking back to the questgiver, prepared to abandon the quest and redo it, when it showed as completed when i got there 2 minutes after the time had ran out.

When looking over the quest description again it doesn't exactly say if you have to *get back* in time or not.

I believe the quest timer is just for the shouting. Once you are done with all of the shouting within 4 minutes, you can dismiss the ram and use your regular mount to go turn it in, regardless of if the timer says you have time or not.

you DON'T have to return to the quest giver on the ram after you have completed all the objectives. The amount of people i see running back on the ram is rediculous. as soon as you have completed the stages and it says objective complete, just hop off the ram and get onto your own mount and fly back. simple!

The Ram Racing Reins is removed from the game since Brewfest 2013 ( 2013-09-20 to 2013-10-06 )
Now the Extra Action Button 1 is used, known from some bossfights (below center of screen).

Tipp: Use mouse to steer, and use a button to control speed.

With Game Menu - Key bindings - Extra Action Button 1 you can bind a button ,
or put a macro in the actionbar of your choice:
/click ExtraActionButton1

But remove other keybindings around that button, which can dismount you.
Instant casts will dismount you, as well as item use macros, ...

So, I'm an impatient moron and quickly accepted the quest, immediately ditched the ram, and flew to IF on my own mount. I then proceeded to literally "/bark" at the flags...

Don't do that.

So apparently it's taken me this many years to figure out you don't have to run the goat all the way back to the brewfest area. Once you finish the last of the 4 announcements, its quest completed.

I'd always run the goat back and make it back with only seconds to spare, and think I was such a boss.

Be on the look out for asshats who think it's funny to $%^& you over with this quest. Some Casting a buff spell on your char while riding the ram WILL kick you off it, making it impossible for you to complete the quest. Also, be careful of your own action bars, as accidently clicking anything will also kick you off the ram and screw you over.

A suggestion has been submitted to the Devs that they fix this issue, but that could take forever, so yeah.

You will need to either wait out the timer, or log out and back in to fail the quest, but you take accept it again without having to abandon it.

You can go to Pol Amberstill and ask "How do I make my ram go faster?" and then "Say, you wouldn't have happen to have an extra set of reins..." and you'll get Ram Racing Reins which you can bind on your hotbar.

After accepting the quest, STAY ON THE RAM! You MUST be on the ram to complete each objective.

You don't actually need to emote or do anything other than just run by the flag's dotted around your faction's city. Once you get credit move on to the next flag until you have visited all 4 location's to complete the quest.

At this point you can ditch the ram by clicking on the buff. This will not cause you to fail the quest. The timer will stop and allow you to mount up on the mount of your choice and turn in the quest for its reward.

If the Chowdown game is going, you have to jump over the railings on the side/behind the tents because you will get dismounted and you'll have to abandon the quest and start again

Description

We need to get the word out about the Barleybrews at Brewfest. You need to shout at the flags outside the bank, in the Military Ward, in the Hall of Explorers and in the Mystic Ward. I'll make things easy though, I'll lend you a racing ram for 4 minutes. Use the reins to let him go, but try not to tire him out.
