Did the quest Scryer side, forgot the items in the bank. The other guy who had it (Aldor) said that he didn't have any special items for the quest. So a group of 5 of us killed him. Priest, Druid, Hunter, Druid, Lock. Took a while and went through an innervate and two mana pots, but we did it with relative ease.

I don't know what anyone is talking about with stages and NPCs and what not, we didn't have any of those.

This is the most fun quest ever, you do insane damage to him when he's zapped!

Let me warn you, if you're using any addons like TopScoreFu or Critline, this fight WILL completely screw it up.

Here are just some of my crits on him according to TopScoreFu (Which I later had to reset):

Incredibly easy with a warlock/rogue combo. Use the Orb to increase your damage by a lot and have the warlock drain tank. He is stunnable, slowable, gougable, kickable, etc. Just treat it like a normal mob with a lot of HP. Very fast with 6500+ backstabs.

Solo'ed it as an afflic lock, doubt any other class could do it, ran oom several time but lifetap + huge drain life kept me going, took forever. I was honored when I did this quest, so I'm assuming if you can't do it at friendly, then it's honored.

This quest is currently bugged on Eitrigg-US. Kaylaan and Socretha just stand there, could not be targeted or find anyway to interact with them. Probably someone failed the attempt earlier.

Pretty easy, did it today. Feral druid tanking, holy pala, fire mage.

Note: the mob uses a spell reflect shield but you're gonna notice it because the shield is pretty big, you can't miss it.

Just 3 manned this with a prot warrior tanking, feral druid healing, and frost mage for dps. It took a while and we got close to wiping, but we did it. Mages can counterspell his casts if need be. It was pretty fun.

Hes pretty kiteable. Walks slower then those freaking elite walking rocks. Just did this with a holy paladin and myself (who is a balance druid btw). I could of pretty much soloed him, but the paladin saved me from dishing out a mana potion supplying me with some heals.

Easy to solo as a elemental shaman too if you dont care to chug some mana pots. Just make sure you clear all the mobs around your kitting area.

If you're Scryer and happen to have an Aldor guildy who's on this same step Aldor side, ( http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10409 ) this quest can 2manned easily.

I'm a Frosty mage and Scryer, and my guildy was a DemoLock and Aldor. What we did was he initiated his quest first, which brings in the help of some Draenei support. They do not show up as aligned to Aldor and do not attack Scryer aligned players.

The Draenei went through a story event, pausing for a short fight with a traitor (part of their story and harder than Socrethar actually). After that, and some more yipyap (it does take a while, just wait), the actual fight with Socrethar begins. We let the Draenei initiate. I used Vorenthals Presence, and the Draenei basically tanked the entire fight while we DPS'd. Less than 2min later, he was dead. I reapplied the Presence after the 1min cooldown was up if it matters (not sure if only 1 cast is needed).

A warrior and I (resto drood) were able to complete this quest. It was rather easy, although it did take maybe 4 minutes and an Innervate.

As a side note, the quest was also bugged for me, but I got a GM to reset it.

You can still have the weakening item after you've done the quest if you abandon the quest when you've first taken the items from the package, and then retake it for a new package. When you complete it, the items from the first package will disappear but you'll get another set by opening the second package :P

It's nice to have in case you feel the urge to see some big numbers.

We did this tonight with 4 Mages and a Warlock. The guy did a round robin since everyone was causing so much aggro. It was really funny to watch.

Any aflic lock can do this on solo. just cast drain life (u need to have it drain imp), stand near a pillar cuz he kick, re-cast dralife when u see hin casting the spell reflect shield, so that way u will keep drainnig him even if he got the shield, and use life tap when he is casting shadowbolt. the easy way is CoS + siphon + drainlife. if u want to kill him a little faster use corrup and spam shadowbolt when u get nightfall.

This quest was bugged for us 12/04/2007 on EU-Dunemaul.
The 3 aldor NPCs, Socrethar and Kaylaan just stood there. Neither was attackable.

Completed it with 2 locks, 2 priests, and a mage.

His attacks(dmg after orb)/abilites:

Melee - 1200-1500dmg
Backlash - 1400dmg, knockback
Shadow Bolt Volley - 1500-2000dmg to everyone
Fireball Barrage - 200dmg

Killed in about 30-40sec, I tanked as a Demo lock, with VW out, with few heals. Any class with some hp and a high threat attack can tank him with no problems, so don't worry about finding a real tank.

you definately do NOT need 5 ppl to do this, any combination of tank healer and DPS can do this Q very easily. when you use the Q item on boss, he hits for ~600 on plate, and every dmg done to him is increased by 300% (lock said he got 1K wand crit) also the boss often does 10 sec channel of fire barage, that deals 185 fire dmg per tick (and he does not meelee while channeling ofc)

Seems to be bugged when you start the aldor version of this quest. So if someone in your party has the aldor version just use the Scryer quest items, and the aldor ppl will get credit. Easily 2 manned with a prot war and feral druid (in healing gear for mana) this way.

Was quite surprised how easy it was since he just hit me for 550 / hit and i healed during his fireball barrage. Took me around 4-5 min to kill him though.

did this solo as a frost mage, pretty easy acctually. although it will require about 6 minutes, 3 of your best managems and about 3 manapotions.

the pet does heckloads of dmg in this fight, therefore dont use it too early as it will draw aggro, use icelance and fireblast while kiting and as soon as he does the rain of fire thing, pop fireward and start casting frostbolts until hes done, when youre out of mana do the same but evocation instead of frostbolts. he isnt particulary hard to kite, hes about as fast as you, yet he stops constantly to cast a short ranged shadow volley, range < 25 yards?, its more about using the mana wisely, dont spend it faster than you can regain it, as it is a long fight. also keep detect magic up.. it might help you :P

he also tends to release aggro and evade rather quickly, particulary when his damage shield is up and u cant touch him

Trio'ed by 2 Enhancement Shaman and a Holy Paladin. With the debuff, he only hits Shaman for about 1000 damage a hit, which is easily manageable by a Holy paladin spamming Flash of Light.

Our group of a Mage, Priest and Rogue (myself) were able to do this with no deaths. He wasn't fearable, but we were able to stun him and slow him.

We did with the recommended 5 but we used my BM pet to tank with a shaman to heal.

we also had a marks hunter, a mage and a rogue nuking down on the boss but my pet didnt drop aggro or loose more than 30% hp

we did have the scryer stone to help.

this quest has nothing to do with 5 players. eventhough i went there with my feral tanking gear they asked me for dps. so i went catform. FB hit for 10k. this quest is soloable or lets say suggested:2 quest.

Soloable as a shadow priest. Because of the increased damage you also get increased mana regen and health. I can heal to full and maintain mana easily against him while damaging him.

He will resist a lot. So reapply vampiric embrace as much as possible because it wore out on me sometimes and I almost died. I used two super mana pots and a shadowfiend though I could have done it with just 1 mana pot. The shadowfiend will also get extra damage and your mana bar will fill in just a few hits.

Clear the mobs around the throne so you can get maximum fighting space. I only cleared the path leading to the platform, but it didn't work out so well... I eventually ended up on the edge of the island kiting him back and forth. Don't kite him too far at the start or he'll deaggro, just kite him back and forth between his casts. He'll occasionally knock you back which makes things easier (or harder if he knocks you somewhere you don't want to be). As for his anti-magic shield you should be running as soon as he casts that to let some of the time wear off on it, but for the most part you just need to tank his damage for awhile and heal back up with VE.

Both him and Kaylaan the lost was bugged when I had found a grp for it, two times actually. Dunno what it's about, but he just stands there, and Kaylaan is standing next to him, doing nothing at all.
We can't even attack them, and btw, the draenei helpers are just standing there too. Anyone else who has had this problem?

Soloed as a 70 resto shaman. Took 20 minutes, but it wasn't too hard. Just keep your distance so he doesn't melee you too much, get in there and hit him when he uses fireball barrage, and earth shock his Shadow Bolt Volley.

This quest is bugged. If an Aldor group attempts the quest and wipes, it doesn't reset properly and no one can do the quest until it's reset (I don't know how long the timer is on it). This only happens if an Aldor group biffs it...Scryers can all die like little girls on fire and it won't bug. ;D

Soloed on the 3rd attempt as an lvl 70 affliction warlock. I had my imp out and phased so I could dark pact and it wouldn't die. I was too lazy to clear the adds and kite him around, so I just kept my back to a pillar and drained life through the attacks. I would try to apply my dots during the fireball barrage, as I had to drain life through his physical attacks to survive. I didn't bother using shadow ward for the shadow bolt volley, but it would have helped. Had to pop a healthstone.

Solo'd as a feral druid, took just over 7 minutes. No pots, nothing but self-buffs, didn't even require an innervate. First two attempts I tried to work cat form in there to get him down faster, but I was just dying too fast, so last attempt I did entirely in bear form aside from shifting out twice to heal. Easy 1,000 Scryer rep.

solo-ed as a warlock remember to keep imp out not any other pet cause phase shift will keep it from dying. this is recommended since all other pets will die fast. having the stam buff is better than ligh dps in the beggining and nothing towards the middle of the fight.

Soloable as frost mage but very difficult. He is not snarable and we don't have the luxury of healing on the fly like warlocks / sp's, but this is how you can do it:
- You will most likely need at least 2 charges on your gem and 2 mana pots. If you have far better gear than I (757 frost damage with my oil) you might be able to get by with 1 less.
- Pull with the stone and use the stone every minute as it will be a free ~4k damage.
- It is never worth it to take melee hits for any reason (though you'll have to take some) so if he's not casting, keep moving.
- Ice Lance every few seconds to make sure he stays in combat if you're not casting other things.
- Keep Fire Ward and Ice Barrier up as much as possible.
- When he's casting shadowbolt volley and fire barrage, this is where you shine. If you're kiting him far enough away, the shadowbolt should never hit you anyway and the fireballs are only 200 dmg/sec and wtih fire ward up, not only will you not take the damage but you won't get interrupted. Chain frostbolt during these phases.
- Kite him back and forth between his spawn point and the zone in spot, using blink when he catches up to you in one direction.
- Use your mana restores as much as you can. I almost had to abandon an attempt because I had a minute left on pot with about 1k mana left. Luckily ice lance kept me in combat long enough to pot and gem soon after.
- When you get low and you have a FRESH ward AND barrier, evoc during a barrage or volley (ward not needed if volley).
- All told it took me probably about 5 minutes but it's very hectic and you need to remain calm and always plan ahead.

Solod as 70 prot warrior (T4 geared). Massive shield slams and interrupting/stunning FTW. Bring your health pots and drink em early. Shield Bash the Shadow bolt volley. That is the most important.

Did this quest with a good Pally friend of mine He be a healidan (how ever you say that :P) I, a rogue tanked, never got killed.

Just remember to use the darn stone, first attempt he practically one hit me cause I forgot the stone. >< He's much more manageable with it inter-up his magic, if you are a rogue he's susecptable to kidney shot and use it on the long ones where he's raining fire cause for me kicks didn't stop that one. (the others it did).

He's easy as pie though so long as you have a healer or enough HP and mana/healing pots.

Just soloed him as a Demon spec lock. It was fairly straight forward, just a simple drain tank fight. The only problem was not having Fel Concentration. It took me a lot longer to do since my Drain Life kept getting shortened. I believe I used 1 Health Stone and 4 mana pots. I also sacked my VW for the hp regen, although, as the above lock did, it would have probably been best to sack the hunter for the mana regen. I normally drained life until he did his firebolt spell, during which I life taped and then went back to draining his health. 350k hp is surprisingly a lot when you're soloing a boss, but since no one was wanting to help out with the quest, I had to do it myself, and now I have bragging rights!

One-shot soloed him as a level 70 feral druid (0/50/11) in tanking gear. I could have probably used my kitty gear set but this was my first time encountering him so I played it safe.

I'm maxed out on tank-type badge, 2.4 badge and Kara gear (except for the T4 helm), BoNP belt and CoKT trinket. I have the T4 shoulders from Gruul's Lair. But, I have no other 25-man level gear. Stats are 29K armor, 415 Def, 45.60% dodge, 2223 AP, 31.66% dodge. 0 hit, 0 expertise (yea yea, working on it), 16,144HP, 6875 MP, self-buffed.

Shouldn't be too difficult for any feral tank as long as you have decent gear (even dungeon blues should do, albeit with a bit more difficulty). I shifted to kitty and loaded my Idol of Feral Shadows around 50% because he wasn't doing much damage. His melee was hitting the bear for about 300 (when it actually landed). The fire AOE hits for about 200 per tick but you can back up and then circle around it to avoid most of it. His shadow volley hit for about 1.8K and was the best damage he could throw at me. It's very easy to shift out, barkskin and heal through his damage. By the time he got me low again I had almost all of my mana back and barkskin.

If you get into problems just shift to bear and fight while you wait out your cooldowns. It's easy, really.

Why am I doing this so late with such gear? I switched from Aldor to Scryer (+defense is far more valuable than +dodge rating. Druids, go Scryer!)

i arrived with a party of 5, Sacrethar could not be targetted, he just stood there like a pole and not moving. In front of him were a few Aldor NPC's. i had to open a ticket with GM to reset him.

Just make sure to interrupt all his Shadow Bolt Volleys, he doesn't hit much with melee (healed up again with 1 flash heal)

Solo'd as a Dreamstate druid (34/0/27) with 700 spell damage, used 1 innervate and 1 mana potion

I just kept insect swarm + moonfire on him at all times and tanked melee swings in Moonkin form

When he starts channeling his fireball spell he will not melee or move. I popped a few lifeblooms on myself and it brought me back to full. HoT yourself while running to the other side of the platform, so he spends a few seconds catching up to you after he's done channeling

Run out of range of his shadow bolt volley and they will do no damage to you

Took about 5 minutes to kill him.

3 manned with MM hunter, mage, and rogue. Got to around 30%, mage had to ice block, rogue dies, I dps it down to 15%, mage dpses down to 10% with me, gets aggro, dies, I use a health pot, pet dies, eventually killed. Fun fight that is doable by 3 decently geared dps 70s, but a tank or healer would definately make it easier.

Since nobody added this, and I won't do my usual spiel:

If you run up to Socrethar, and you cannot aggro him, it is BUGGED. Although one of the patches have said to make it a lot less likely, this bugging is due to a confusion with the aggro tables consisting with the NPCs.

We attempt to debug him (08/22/08) by the following methods

Grab a mob wandering around his seat, and make the NPCs attack them near Socrethar.
Get scryers to leave group, and do an all-aldor group
Kill the NPCs with more mobs than they can handle
Opened a ticket for GM assistance, waiting out 30 minutes of idle questing/farming, to be told that the problem is "most likely due to our mix of scyer and aldor", being strongly advised to do the quest with the same faction.

None of these methods worked for us, and the GM did not reset him. Although he may for you, we didn't luck out as much.

UPDATE
08/22/08

Went back later on, 2 elemental shammies (1 scryer, 1 aldor). Used the item and two fire eles, he basically dropped like a rock before he did much to us whatsoever. Hit for around 600/700 melee when he did so, and all extremely easily healed-through damage.

We didn't require a 5-man. But goodness was it not worth doing.

Just solo'd this as a demo lock. Use your Void walker and use empowerment and keep it up whenever possible. Drain life/life tap when needed. Health funnel when VW is low. Keep it up and within 3-5 minutes, he will de dead

This quest is easily soloable as a Retribution Paladin!

Just make sure you have Seal of Light up and that Socrethar is weakened with Voren'thal's Presence since it's going to increase all healing done as well (besides the damage). If you have The Art of War specced, don't miss a Flash Heal! That way you can kill him with Seal of Command up, even! He is not immune to stun and you can use Repentance if you need an extra heal or time for your mana to regenerate. It'll take 2-3 minutes but you'll get it done.

Soloed as a 69 Retribution Paladin,

I ran in, used the 'Voren'thal's Presence' and nuked him as best I could. When I got low on mana/health, I repentanced him and healed up. Then I waited out the repentance and repeated what I did prior.

No idea whether it is a bug or not, but after getting crit-killed by him, I rezzed at the Stormspire without doing anything, before I could release my spirit. I never even saw the "dead" world, I simply got resurrected at the Stormspire GY.

Soloed as heal-specced Holy Priest.
Took a long time, and mana was tight (used 2 shadow fiends and a potion).
I basically just used SWP and Devouring Plague most of the fight, healing myself with renew and PoM when necessary. Lightwell also saved me a lot of mana on self-healing.
I also threw in Holy Fire and Smite whenever my mana bar looked healthy enough.

Incredibly fun fight as a 70 enh shammy in quest greens (all Outland except for weapons). Spirit wolves heal an amount equal to the damage they do, so because of the debuff they were healing me for an average of over 1300 per second, with crits over 3500. The fight was still quite a challenge, though, since the wolves despawned around 40%. Between earth elemental totem, healing waves from maelstrom weapon procs, and constantly spamming lesser healing wave, I was able to finish him off. At one point I had a MH swing crit, with a double crit on the WF proc, for a total of 13,404 dmg on one swing!

Considering the rewards for this quest are no longer any good, I plan on keeping this quest around til 80 so I can have fun busting out 10k dps once in a while.

just did this today as a demon/afflication warlock lvl 71
very easy, life of myself and felguard never dropped below 50%, no pots used.
used siphon life and siphon mana twice, health funnel three times.

felguard tank, drop DOT, but take care when its shield is out it can reflect your DOT
and of course use quest item whenever possible to weaken it.

finished within 5 minutes

Okay, so I just tried this quest tonight for the first time(s) and I can't seem to beat him. I'm an 80 rogue (Scryer) using all Northrend gear (quest gear, so not the best, but still should be good enough for an Outland fight.) I tried to fight him twice, both times he killed me before the orb finished its CD once (I didn't forget to use it, but maybe I'm using it wrong somehow.)

Now, I may not be the best player in the world, but I have leveled all the way to 80 and I think I've got a solid handle on PvE, at least. I see all sorts of posts here about people as low as 68 soloing this guy, so what am I doing wrong?

The Blizz quest tracker leads you to fly directly to Socrethar, and when I did I found the Aldor NPCs as others have reported. Recommend you don't do this but go to Invasion Point: Overlord as the quest says. Stand inside the teleporter and activate the teleport stone which will take you to Socrethar, but this time there will be no Aldor NPCs thus avoiding aggro issues.

One-shot soloed him as a level 70 warrior (0/50/11) in tanking gear. I could have probably used my plate but this was my first time encountering him so I played it safe.

I'm maxed out on tank-type badge, 2.4 badge and Kara gear (except for the T4 helm), BoNP belt and CoKT trinket. I have the T4 shoulders from Gruul's Lair. But, I have no other 25-man level gear. Stats are 29K armor, 415 Def, 45.60% dodge, 2223 AP, 31.66% dodge. 0 hit, 0 expertise (yea yea, working on it), 16,144HP, 6875 MP, self-buffed.

Shouldn't be too difficult for any feral tank as long as you have decent gear (even dungeon blues should do, albeit with a bit more difficulty). I shifted to kitty and loaded my Idol of Feral Shadows around 50% because he wasn't doing much damage. His melee was hitting the bear for about 300 (when it actually landed). The fire AOE hits for about 200 per tick but you can back up and then circle around it to avoid most of it. His shadow volley hit for about 1.8K and was the best damage he could throw at me. It's very easy to shift out, barkskin and heal through his damage. By the time he got me low again I had almost all of my mana back and barkskin.

If you get into problems just shift to bear and fight while you wait out your cooldowns. It's easy, really.

Why am I doing this so late with such gear? I switched from Aldor to Scryer (+defense is far more valuable than +dodge rating. Druids, go Scryer!)

Soloed easily as an 80 demo warlock in ICC gear. I let my felguard tank it while I whittled away at its health with corruption, immolate, Drain Life and the occasional shadowbolt. At around 60% I got bored and tried to nuke him down, but then he put up his spell reflect shield and I almost killed myself. Don't do this. Instead you should Health Funnel your pet while you wait for the shield to drop. Otherwise an easy fight, after the 2nd spell reflect shield I popped my engie gloves and Meta and blew him up.

Also, I forgot to use the stone that makes you do more damage. Whoops.

Silly me....

I didn't read the quest text and had not realized where the weakening item was.

Anyways... still was able to solo as a lvl 74 paladin with mostly green and a few blues.

If you're an level 85 (Or higher), like me, who just flew up there and killed him and then suddenly wonder why you only got 1 out 3 parts of the quest, then you need to simply loot the satchel in your inventory.

At least that worked for me, flew up there, killed him, looted the satchel, and flew back.

Easy solo as a lvl 73 Pally. Mostly blues and greens, nothing special. Specced/geared hybrid holy for solo PvE 16k mana, 14k health. Just used the portal trinket to port up to his lair; hopped on my mount to fly up to him and avoid the mobs; then burned him down in about 1-1/2 minutes. Mostly just used exorcism, consecration and crusader strike. Don't forget to use the trinket to weaken him! Put your back to one of the pillars, so if he knocks you back, you don't get knocked off the platform and aggro the mobs. As I said, very easy

The portal the quest says to use is at 36.43 18.32 in Netherstorm. From there, its just as easy to fly over.

I have completed this quest. the log shows everything complete. the question mark is over the head of the npc to turn it in. I can click on the npc but the continue button is greyed out so that I cannot complete the quest. Is this quest bugged? please help

My apologies, it would appear that the bug lies with the operator. it seems for some odd reason, that I could not turn in the quest with out both the orb and the other piece. which I had shoved into my bank. so once again I do apologize. just and fyi for anyone else who might HORDE (no pun intended lol) stuff in their bank. this quest requires both pieces to be able to turn it in.

Because it's not written I'm writing a little post about HOW to get this quest. With Heirlooms and other EXP boost doodads this quest is normally skipped because you out level zone so fast and if you're like me and want a item that is a quest reward for completing this quest (like Gauntlets of the Vanquisher to complete the enchanted thorium set) trying to find your way to get this quest isn't quite so.... linear.

First you need to be aligned with The Scryers, and by that I mean you need to make it official, you need to have completed Allegiance to the Scryers. I wanted to rush this so I just started turning in Arcane Tome and hit Honored and the quest lines in Netherstorm never opened up. Once I stopped being a nuff-nuff and finished Allegiance to the Scryers and became "officially aligned" the quests needed opened up.

After you're affiliated with The Scryers you need to talk to Spymaster Thalodien and Magistrix Larynna located in Netherstorm, Area 52 Inn. You will then need to complete Bloodgem Crystals and then all quests from Spymaster Thalodien leading up to the completion of Shutting Down Manaforge Coruu. Once you complete Shutting Down Manaforge Coruu and turn it in Magistrix Larynna will start giving you the quests needed to lead you up to this quest!

In order:
Kick Them While They're Down
A Defector
Damning Evidence
A Gift for Voren'thal
Bound for Glory
and then finally Turning Point!

So yeah after wasting time flying between Netherstorm and Shattrath City trying to find a way to get this quest I figure someone else out there may be like me one day and hopefully this post will help you out!

(Also I have no idea why but on some wowhead pages there are Alliance symbols next to the first two Magistrix Larynna quests, as a horde I was slightly confused with this to begin with but both Horde and Alliance, as long as you're with the Scyers, will be given these quests, it's not alliance only - just FYI)

Voren'thal's Presence

is an orb in your bags, that you have to use, once you target Socrethar. Then you can probably solo it.

You don't need to use the portal, if you have a flying mount.

Even tho the use of the teleporting stone appears as a criteria you need to finish for the quest to complete, it completes when you use the bag in your inventory that is Vorenthal's Presence.

The teleport stone simply did not work when I was doing this.

Solo'ed him with a Combat Rogue. Easily done w/ Leech and the orb. Keep him stunned, with Revealing Strike active all times. Whenever you reach 5 combo points, Kidney Shot. Already stunned? Then Eviscerate. Also, keep SnD alive!

This seems to be still bugged, unsure of how many years later. Looks to be 10 years by the date stamp of some of these posts on here. I am currently at Socrethar's Seat with that Voren'thal's Presence in my bags and when i target Socrethar, to use that presence orb on him it says invalid target. Unsure of what else to do but to maybe make a ticket?

Post patch 7.3.5, as a 76 BM hunter was able to solo socrethar. All heirlooms, plus healing potion, Exhilaration, Intimidation, pet on tank. Main thing to watch out for is that Socrethar has a knockback that will send your pet into other surrounding mobs. I toggled my pet between Assist and Passive to stop it getting too far away. Didn't really see the point of of Voren'Thal's Presence

For Horde Loremaster:

All soloed on my alt 110 ilvl 934 Guardian Druid. If you’re deciding to do loremaster later in the game like me and you’re starting the zone fresh, I highly suggest doing it on a druid because you can kill and instant fly off, makes things go by so much faster.

All I did was follow around the large bold exclamation point on the map. Sometimes the quests are mixed and it makes you run around back and forth, but so be it. This is still minimum list of quests to do, everything else is a side quest.

*Make sure you’ve picked a faction from Shattrath before starting Netherstorm story lines

To people leveling in 7.3.5. This fight is very hard to solo. My advice is to hold the quest until 81 when your heirlooms massively increase in item level which will make this fight much easier. This is the same for most other elite group quests in Outlands. I stayed in Outlands until 85 as its much faster to level after 80 then the cat/mop zones.

This quest still doesn't work if there are Aldor NPCs present, however changing your phase (try turning on or off warmode) seems to help as long as the same thing to trigger the bug didn't happen in your new phase.

Abandoning this quest does not automatically destroy the satchel.
If you re-take the quest, he will only give you another satchel if the first one you were given is nonexistant.
Therefore, if you take this quest, and find that you're not receiving a satchel, check your bank and inventory to see if you still have said satchel; likely you have it from the last time you had taken it (and may have forgotten after a number of years, like yours truly).
