All you need to do is swim to the entrance to Coilfang Reservoir - tloc 50, 40(swim down about 100 feet). Quest rewards are excellent, especially for the amount of effort required.

Folks need to watch out for the crazy amounts of ravenous fish (forget the actual name) around the shores here. I jumped in the water at the wrong point and was badly mauled. They're like the fish in ZG, only non-elite, but there are *many* of them and can overwhelm you. If you can manage it, get up on one of the pipes and run to the middle to avoid fish.

If you swim through the drain, and go up to the meeting stone, and then accept the quest, and hearth out, then you won't complete it. Be sure to accept the quest before swimming through the drain.

It's the drain that leads to the instances in that zone (Underbogs et al). i got to entrance of the sewer pipe and got credit for qwuest immediately.

I got the schematics when I was doing the 'seeds' quest. It came when I was clearing out the umbrafen lake tower

It looks like the easiest way into the lake is at 47,35 on the mini island on the NW side of the lake. Just come off the road straight west, around a few slow ogres. and you can drop right into the water. Those lv63 fish are a pita sometimes

The quest rewards are fantastic. The quest itself is easy...the problem is making it there. I would suggest...like the others coming from the north..but there are frenzy there too. They are easier to avoid from the north. As a lvl 62 Lock, the frenzies shouldn't be a problem...just get the fish to your voidwalker and then rain of fire em'. Their stamina is very very low. They die quickly with that. I had to use rain of fire twice...as it does get their attention. once you make it to the pumps however..it should be a piece of cake.

I had the same problems, and the solution is a bit bittersweet. If you took the quest from her, AND you have the "Drain Schematics", she won't accept it. You need to drop the schematics, abandon quest, and take it again. It's easy and short, so the annoyance was limited. That's how I got around the problem, at least. And for these kinds of rewards, it's definitely worth doing a second time.

I went a different route...i went in the water directly behind the east beacon...swam out and found the drain...came back..dived down and mined a adamantite vein and swam back in..no prob...no attacks...on a 63 warrior

just did this quest, the drain is in the middle, you should be able to see the steam coming from it while swimming across it. when leaving becareful of the hydras and the frenzy fish

I found it really easy to get this quest. Because you can use it again and again so another of those Overseers spawn, I did it for like 5 times until I got my Drain Schematics! :)

this is really easy is you have quest helper. go to the dot that quest helper tells you to go to and swim down. I'm not sure how far though... just keep swimming down till something happens.

This quest is 2 easy. All u have 2 do is go near the whirlpool in the center of the big machine. That's it!

This quest requires level 61 to complete, despite the shown required level of 59. This is because in order for the drain Schematics to drop, you have to be on a quest that requires you to be 61.

Found this out as I was trying to get the ring for my 60 rogue.

This is not an Alliance-only quest. As a Horde 68 Warlock, I just killed a Steam Pump Overseer (@ 62, 40) and got the item (on first kill) and accepted the quest although the quest chain for Horde only consists of

Note that you need to be on the quest Balance Must Be Preserved before it will drop. It is a followup from Disturbance at Umbrafen Lake available from the NPC Ysiel Windsinger at level 61.
Even though the questitem says only level 59 is required, you still need a quest which is level 61 minimum.

After reading most of the comments I thought I couldent get the quest item anymore sense I had already completed the quest they say is required to get the item to drop. But while I was doing a Sporeggar quest I pulled a bunch of mobs and killed them. The schematic dropped but not off an overseer ( I have previously finished the Pump quest). I dont know what to make of it. Mine dropped off a Naga Enchantress North of Sporregar.

This quest does not work, I have swam every inch of Serpent Lake and found nothing but freny freakin fish.

It shows two highlighted areas, one at Marshlight Lake, one at Serpent Lake. I must have gotten the one at Coilfang lake as that is not highlighted anymore.

Is this a bug? very disturbing.

I came back to do this quest long after I had completed the previous quest, "Balance Must be Preserved". Was concerned after reading the comments that I would be here awhile before it dropped and, sure enough, multiple kills and no drop. Then I noticed a "!" on the map and hovering it said it was for "Drain Schematics". Went to that area and it dropped off the 1st naga I killed. Hopefully this helps someone like me :).

Search Serpent Lake for signs of a drain. Return to Ysiel Windsinger at the Cenarion Refuge with news of your discovery.

Description

The schematics you've obtained show an underground system of drains and pumps that connect the lakes in the region to Serpent Lake.

If the schematics are correct, there is a giant drain in the center of Serpent Lake. Confirm this and bring the news to Cenarion Refuge.
