The crystal can only be used when the Uncontrolled Voidwalker has approximately 15% of its HP left.

This quest lies, by the way. Warp Fields are, in fact, to the south *west* of HFC. Don't do what I did and think vague things along the lines of "voidwalkers" and "SE of HFC" and end up at Void Ridge going "um".

btw, dont freak out like i did when i used the item on theUncontrolled Voidwalker when its hp < 15%.

What happens is that the item is instantly used up, and a "treasure chest" (takes the form of a hovering glowing crystal) is spawned over the dead body. you loot that to get the Glowing Sanctified Crystal. Dont worry, you dont have to run all the way back to get another Sanctified Crystal. lol

Make sure that the mob you use the crystal on is away from any other voidwalkers. I had to chain kill mobs that kept me from opening crystal and the crystal disappeared before I could open. Needed to abandon quest and go back to get it from questgiver :(

Works only on Uncontrolled VoidWalkers.

They can be found in both around 47, 83 and aroudn 79, 76.

I suggest going to 47, 83 because you can do with it.

When you start the fight against a uncontrolled Voidwalker you can't use the Sanctified Crystal yet. You'll have to lower voidwalkers health to <15%. Then you use the Crystal and the voidwalker dies. After this a gem-like item wll spawn on the ground, which you will have to loot to complete the quest.

You should be careful with the mobs surrounding an Uncontrolled Voidwalker, since you want to kill it alone, loot the crystal and leave. If you do things like I did, you'll have to kill few mobs before you can loot the crystal. I was a bit scared if I can loot it after the extra kills, but it seemed to be fast killing enough. By the way... That was probably fastest leveling ever with my Rogue.

As is the case sometimes with Hunters and their pets, I had to put my Ghoul on passive to keep it from killing the Voidwalker before I could use the crystal. They are so easy to kill, you won't have a problem at all without it's help.

Did the Quest in 2 minutes, its pretty easy. The uncontrolled voidwalker roam just near the border of The Warp Fields.

I just did this quest on my fifth character. That makes 5/5 times that I didnt read the quest, and killed voids for 20+ minutes waiting for this crystal to drop. lol

If ur 85 and doing this quest, take off ALL armor or else the mobs will be one-shotted.

Wow, one of the worst quests out there.

If you're a hunter, you need to put your pet on Defensive.

You need to find an "Uncontrolled", not "Rogue" Voidwalker.

It needs to be away from the vortexes that connect them with blue lightning.

Then you need to kick off a gentle attack, and keep clicking on the crystal quest thing until it finally gets below the threshold and captures the Voidwalker.

Just want to add my two cents for people possibly struggling at level 100 (probably rare, but meh): I used dynamite on the appropriate VW (rough dynamite to be exact). Even without any of my gear on, I was still one-shotting the mobs, so I had to revert to drastic measures. The rough dynamite (which can be used at Engineering ) brought the mob down to 17%, and I was able to use the quest item and collect the floating crystal that spawned afterwards. Additionally, there was no beam focused on the VW the whole time it was aggroed to me, so I'm not sure if that's necessary.

If you're at lvl 100 and still one-shotting them while naked even, just try to jump of the edge into space and get rez sickness. Now when you hit with your fists, it wont kill them instantly and now you can do the quest.

1. An Ambitious Plan
• Accept the quest, An Ambitious Plan, from Elsaana at coords 23.2, 36.6 (Temple of Telhamat).
• Travel southeast to the area of coords 47, 82 (West of Expedition Armory).
• Locate and attack an Uncontrolled Voidwalker, bringing its health to 15%.1
• Use the Sanctified Crystal, you were provided, on the weakened Uncontrolled Voidwalker.
• Finish off the Uncontrolled Voidwalker and loot the Glowing Sanctified Crystal near its corpse.
• Travel northwest, back to the Temple of Telhamat, to coords 23.2, 36.6.
• Turn in the quest to Elsaana.

1: If you are playing a high level toon, unequip all your armor and weapons, fly up into the air and dismount (falling to your death). Once a ghost, you will speak with the Spirit Healer and accept the Resurrection Sickness. Doing this will give you a better chance of weakening the mob, without killing it in one hit.

Best I could think of was to ask around for a low level toon (80-90)to help do this.

Unfortunately, when trying to use Soft Foam Sword, I received the error message "Invalid target." Thankfully though, as a 75 rogue, I was able to use fists while naked. I didn't have to go the rez sickness route.

Incidentally, the foam sword doesn't work on the Rogue Voidwalkers either.

Use of Soft Foam Sword makes this a breeze for higher levels, otherwise it will be literally impossible, even with rez sickness and ungearing.

In order to complete Temple of Telhamat for the achievement progress for To Hellfire and Back, you must also complete ALL quests from Amaan the Wise.

Even levelling through the zone with the new mob scaling in place, these Voidwalkers die very easily to my L68 mage.
I had to abandon normal spells to ensure I didn't overkill through the ~15% remaining goal.
Fortunately all classes should be able to safely take quite a few hits from them, affording the time to take it slow.

Description

The blood elves epitomize the irresponsible use of magic, <class>. They do not control magical energy. Rather, they are slaves to it and will suffer nothing to stand between them and their addiction. They consume the energies of Outland's voidwalkers to power their demonic magics.

I've prepared a crystal charged with a spell that will allow us to neutralize a voidwalker and sever its link to this world when destroyed. I've mostly seen the voidwalkers in the Warp Fields to the southeast of Hellfire Citadel.
