Don't make the mistake I did and think you can just round up the trash around the room and clear them before tackling the boss in the middle. Some mobs are literally unkillable without the correct items from the locked rooms AND THEY PERSIST THROUGH YOUR MANY DEATHS. When you die and come back in there are several who will come after you as soon as you get to the bottom of the stairs.

As a frost mage, I stood in the doorway at the bottom of the steps, just in the room but not in range of the boss's tar, and it went down quick.

For those who don't know how to start with this, there's a potion on the table behind the big slime guy, that will turn you into a slime-type creature, making you immune to his...slime.

After my rogue Twiddler died a few times, I decided there had to be a better way.

There is!

I sneaked in and grabbed the BLUE potion by the nasty guy in the middle. Consuming this potion allowed me to defeat him quite easily, and the rest of the mobs too.

If you are able to sneak like a rogue or a druid, that is highly recommended.

Otherwise, use ranged attacks from as far away as you can.

If you are a warrior, use something like ignore pain, last stand, or any defensive cooldowns you have to get the blue potion down your Gregory Peck.

Other classes have defensive cooldowns that can help I'm sure.

Once you have the blue potion, get rid of all the hostiles before it wears off.

It's so much easier when you know this! :)

If you clear Az/open every door before you pick this quest up later on in the same week, you'll be unable to open any doors, it seems. I'm not particularly thrilled.

I thought, "Oh, I'll clear this place, then do Ur," and now I'm stuck. It is an issue that has been going on a while, it seems.

Bless y'all for this! I have a DK and I am not a very good one. The comments here helped so much. I actually was able to defeat that nightmare blob. Still a lousy dk, but yay me!

I know this is an old thread, but I'm sure there are people like me who are just coming back to the game and will run into this fight. First of all, thanks for all of the helpful posts, I was able to easily take out the boss based on everyone's input. I did it like this:

1. I stood at the door just far enough away to observe the boss's spray pattern: spray clockwise 360 degrees, 5 second rest, repeat clockwise, 5 second rest, then spray counterclockwise twice with a 5 second rest in between sprays. Then back to clockwise.
2. Use this knowledge to dart in and pull 1 or 2 of the non elite adds and bring them back to the entrance to the room, but not too far or they'll lose aggro.
3. Once you kill the 3 adds, wait for the elite to spray one way, and you dart in behind him and drink the goo potion. This will make you practically invulnerable to his sprays and you can kill him with ease.

Description

Tacha's big ears heard some noise in one of the tunnels. We took a peek inside. I'm not going to lie: it's grim in there. Pretty terrifying. All sorts of horrible creatures. Not the sort of thing Tacha and I usually deal with up close. You have experience dealing with monsters, right? Excellent. You go first. Don't worry. Once it's safe, we'll come in and join you. Really, it's the least we can do.
